Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC RESORT Information & Questions

Yea, that review was the final "nail in the coffin" for ASMU for us. We were really loving the idea of one of the family suites, but were nervous about the resort itself. Usually we have been staying at the WDW deluxe resorts, although we love POR also. We didnt want to chance our precious vacation time to WDW (only once a year) by risking it at ASMU after watching that review :headache::scared1: . Its not a big deal though ....... 30% off deluxe resorts works for us just fine. lol.
We wanted to try out Grand Floridain anyway :rolleyes1 .

What is this review you are all talking about? Where do I find it?

WARNING: Do not watch this if you have reservations at ASMU and are excited about it ! LOL.
These guys are pretty tough on ASMU :rotfl2:. Mostly the food court, but there general dislike for ASMU is heard "Loud and clear". Looks like Music needs to clean up their act a little, so maybe this review getting out there is a good thing for guests.

Fortunately for us, we take everything with a grain is salt. We stayed at other hotels where people raved about and we absolutely hated it and would never go back.
Thanks for the link.

The only thing worth noting is that these guys DO go to all of the Disney resorts for their reviews. Its not a value resort bashing, just a ASMU smackdown lol. There are some deluxe resorts that they dont like, and one of the resorts they really like is Fort Wilderness also. So I think these guys are calling it like they see it.

Of course it is just their opinion, so I guess we will never know until we try it out ourselves.

Have fun watching, its pretty amusing :lmao: .

Ok so I am a newbie and totally confused.... We have 5 in our family going and trying to be cost conscious....we were thinking 2 rooms at ASMU or a family suite there (but did someone say discounts would Not apply to suites if there were any before our trip?) then some say that by the time you do two rooms value you could have done a mod suite? Do I have this correct?? I want to be conservative but don't want to miss drying at a mod or deluxe for a "little" more... Can some one help?

I would price both packages and see what the differences are. Is your group 5 adults? If not what are the ages of the children? I think you could do a mod for the price of 2 rooms at a value but it might not give you the space you really need that you would have in 2 value rooms...kwim. When are you going? What discount are you trying to get?

Often discounts DO NOT apply to the family suites. If your party of 5 consists of 2 adults and 3 children you could stay at POR in a room with a trundle bed....this room would cost much less than 2 rooms at a value or a family suite. You can also get some rooms at the deluxe resorts that accomodate 5 but this will cost a similar amount to getting a family suite depending on the time or year and any available discounts. It is possible for a deluxe to cost a little less than a family suite....you would need to get a discount.

Second option is the Fort Wilderness cabins....not cheap but if the theme is OK for you it's worth checking into as they have a kitchen. You can save a few dollars preparing light meals.

Third option....rent DVC points

Fourth option....stay offsite. There are many places that are extremely close to WDW property.

We stayed at the ASMU last May and ran into none of the problems the guys in this video talked about! The rooms were very clean--no horrible bleach smell, but smelled clean.

I have no idea what they're talking about in the food court either. We ate there quite a bit and had wonderful meals! There was a great variety and each one of us (17 in all) was always able to find something we liked. The Cast Members were also very nice and accommodating.

I don't know if these guys are just resort snobs or have tons of money to spend or what, but I think the ASMU is a wonderful resort for those of us that aren't snobs. We plan on staying there again next year when we go to DW.

Questions like Dreamer2012 are when a Disney Travel Planner can be a good idea for you. As an Authorized Disney Planner, I always look at every scenario for my clients to find them the best place and deal for their family. A lot depends on the ages of your children, when you are going and what promotions are being offered. I always work very closely with my clients to make sure they are getting the best bang for their buck!

Resort snobs? Last visit we started our 10 days at the Polynesian because I wanted to watch the monorails pass close by outside my AOTEAROA balcony, ride the motor launch back to the resort after closing down the MK while others waited in huge lines to board buses, monorails and ferry boats, walk to and from the TTC for our Epcot days and have Tonga Toast for breakfast, drink too much out of those medicinal pineapples at Ohanas and relax in a hammock on a white sand beach with a view of the castle. After doing that, we spent some nights at the POFQ so we could take a boat ride to DTD get blasted at Raglan Road and sing loud Irish Songs on the boat ride back. Last 2 nights was spent on Broadway at the AS-music. If that is why we might seem like snobs...GUILTY.

Yikes! Did anyone watch the Dis Unplugged review of ASMU?

I have to admit, it had me a bit bummed out. The overall opinion seemed to be "Meh" but the food court review was terrible

Their descriptions of the murals were hilarious though!

DIS UNPLUGGED sends me back to anger management classes! Um, for the 49th time.

I didn't have any problem with my milk and water being cold. Not icy cold but cold enough that it didn't spoil.

Music is compact so from front to back it's probably around 5-7 minutes. I was back by the quiet pool and got to the front in 3-5 minutes depending on how much rain was falling. I was in Country Fair last time so kinda towards the back, I was there in 2009 as well and was on the back of the Calypso 10 a preferred building and it was like 1 minute to the main building. The buildings kind of spoke out from the main walk way so all the buildings access the main walkway pretty quickly.

Longest walking distance at AS Music is 1400ft as measure from Googly maps. Walking 3mph would take 5min; walking at 2mph takes 8min. The other 2 AS resorts have 1000 ft as longest walking distances.

We have had no issues at ASMu either. We very much enjoyed our stays there and would go back again in the future. We spend a lot of time at the resort (we actually relax on vacation) and have had many meals in the food court. We have had multiple experiences with the CM's were I would say they have gone above and beyond. Have there been CM's that were just polite and nothing else? YES, but that will happen anyplace.

I think the issue is that these men are given free stays in resorts to do the reports they do and are Disney fanatics that have experienced all the resorts and restaurants. Look at the resort they were reporting from; the brand new Disney resort in Hawaii and a suite to boot with the smell of fresh ocean and pineaples in your nostrils. I am sure the food there is wonderful and different as well. If you were in paradise in the most beautiful room you ever experienced with wonderful fresh foods your review on a Disney Value would be similar. lol It's all in the perspective. :thumbsup2

Just watched the video review and am taking it, no pun intended, with a grain of salt. We always stay at All Stars (usually Sports) but will be at Music for the first time in September. These resorts fit us just fine as most of our day will be in the parks. This trip will be just me and the DW and we can save money by staying here, have a clean place to stay, Disney transportation, etc so the Food Court issue is not a deal breaker

I will say however that in May we did notice the same non-magical attitude among the CMs in the Food Court at Sports. Not quite rude but very much "don't expect me to wish you a Magical Day. You are on vacation but this is my job."

Anyway looking forward to the visit and a return to Disney!

That non magical attitude from some CM's at Disney has been going on for years and at all resorts and parks if you look for it. Some are extremely nice and really seem to enjoy people and their jobs. Others seem like they could take or leave people and it is just a job. Some are down right miserable and the guest is always a pain and so is their job. They just are not training the CM's like they did in the past, they make very low wages and with a lot their hours fluxtuate so much they couldn't get a second job if they needed and/or wanted to. Not that it makes it right to not do your job to it's fullest.

Hi all! Are the toiletries in the room still hand soap, body soap and a shampoo/conditioner mix? Trying to work on packing lists.

I posted the following question in the ancient ASM Family Suites thread about 42 hours ago. I thought I'd try it here. Thanks.

Have the coffeemakers in the suites been changed to the Cuisinart dual cup that are found in other resorts?

I got back yesterday. The answer to my question is yes the coffee makers are the Cuisinart dual cup machines.
