Just Back : Attack of the Flies!!!

That's funny how quickly they got it resolved. We were there May 11-19 and it was crazy (especially early on in the visit). In the Peter Pan line, all you saw were people constantly swatting or waving their hands. The CMs said Disney was aware and was spraying to try and alleviate the problem. We did not notice it as bad near the end of the trip. I guess it worked.

I rather doubt "they" resolved anything. The flies probably lived out their natural life cycle, all across that area of Florida.

Hopefully next year won't be so bad!

(Around here, the spring houseflies only last a couple weeks.)

We are here now eating lunch outside at Pinocchio Village Haus and haven't noticed any flies so far here at the MK. We also spent the afternoon at MK yesterday and didn't notice an issue. Tomorrow we will be at HS and we are doing AK and Epcot at the end of the week so hopefully there won't be a fly issue at those parks either.

We ate breakfast in The Land pavilion at Epcot on Monday and all we did was swat at flies. Lol!

We were also at Epcot on Monday, from 8:00 ADR at Akershus until Illuminations and I think I saw 4 flies all day. I was paying extra attention to them because it was our first day in Disney and I remembered this thread!

So far no problems here for us!

Lol! That's good they do try to keep them away from TS restaurants. Sunshine Seasons, on the other hand...

We were there last week, and the flies were pretty bad, especially at MK. At Epcot, they weren't as plentiful, but I got bit several times by some type of fly-looking insect. I had no idea flies bit before that.

Was there last week and they were horrible. Even talked to some CM's and they were saying how bad it was. And it dosent seem to just be WDW, one CM told me about how she had driven to coast to visit her mom and her car was almost black from being covered in flies. Though by the end of the trip did notice it had gotten better

I can't resist, as I got into this earlier in the thread (though I know you didn't specify which kind of fly you didn't think bit!)... Basically, there's lots of different kinds of biting flies. Horseflies, deer flies, black flies, stable flies, etc.

Houseflies, on the other hand, do not bite as they don't have mouths to bite with, nor do they have stingers or mandibles or pointy proboscises or anything else that can hurt a person. They can only absorb liquid food.

So, if you're being bit by a fly, it's not a housefly. It's some other kind of fly.

We were there all last week and the fly problem was quite real at first. On Monday is was close to unbearable at MK. But when we returned there Thursday and Sunday the flies were all but gone. It was quite bizarre.

And yes...they were FLIES!

I was there last weekend and only saw one fly. We were standing at the RFID entrance waiting for EPCOT to open when we saw it. It didn't have a ticket to get into the park, I'm assuming, because it never made it into the park.

I was there that weekend as well, and I remember being in MK with flies landing on me!!! It made me feel grossed out, especially when I had a dole whip in my hand and they were buzzing around the cup as I walked IDK what was going on, but hopefully that'll all be resolved for our trip in September.

We're here now and have been to every park since Monday. I'm not noticing a fly issue at all. And I HATE flies so I'm certain I'd notice. I've also not seen many love bugs.

Yeah, I think they may have been stable flies, since they look the most similar to a house fly. I felt something biting my foot, looked down, and saw it was a fly, and thought I must be imagining it. Then it bit me again. 99% of those I saw were just regular houseflies, but there were a few of those other nasty ones there as well, as my feet can attest to.

I'm glad the problem seems to be disappearing. It was really gross trying to eat in the parks. Sunshine Seasons and Pecos Bill seemed to be two of the worst spots for them.

We were there from this past Thursday-Monday. We did not see any flies the entire time and we went to the 4 parks (No water parks) and open to close!

Spent the weekend at WDW and the problem is solved. No more fly swarms or love bugs! No need to worry about it, they are both gone!!

Interesting. . .we must have been at different locations. . .because we noticed the flies. The lovebugs are waning, which was nice for my front bumper on the way home however.

We were down there May 10th-20th and also noticed how bad the flies were this trip. I go to WDW 4-6 times a year and always go the first or second week of May. I have never noticed the flies like we did this trip. We too got bit.
