I see that last year there was a Meet and Greet with Disney characters from 4-7 in the Lobby Courtyard. Can anyone tell me which characters were there?

Do they refill the coffee everyday in the room also are they like kcups or pods?

You get 2 regular and 2 decafs per day. That was not enough coffee for us as dh drinks 2 regular in the morning and 2 in the afternoon plus I drink one in the morning. I requested more but they weren't very generous until our last day :confused3 when they left us five times the amount of coffee along with a ridiculous number of the sugar/creamer/napkin/stirrer packs.

Post # 2103 shows the coffeemaker, the pods, the creamer packs off to the side and in the cup in the back, all the black packs sugar etc. that they left the day before we checked out.

You can see in the picture that these are pods, not cups. They are about 2-3 inches across and snuggle down into the pull out tray in the top of the coffeemaker. I'm not picky about coffee but dh is and he said this coffee was ok. Much better than what used to be provided, that is for sure.

I never saw a teabag in our room even though I requested them. They are available in the food court but I'm not sure whether one could consider them to be free.

Just returned yesterday and for me, the stuff that was supposedly coffee in the pods was undrinkable. I actually preferred the Nescafe syrup coffee over the pod coffee.

They do have creamer at the food court so we stocked up and brought them back to our room so we wouldn't have to use the powered creamer. Also, had not tea bags. Only provide enough for two (small) cups of coffee.

I ended up buying lots of capuccinos in the parks...

Just returned from POFQ. Here's what I know about the lobby refurb. The main check-in (registration) area is what is undergoing refurbishment now. It closed the day before we arrived (May 9). It is going to be boarded up, but hadn't been by yesterday.

If one is entering through the main doors, the DVC desk is directly on the right - in front of the entrance to the check-in area. The concierge area is in the far right corner. The check-in area is the left. The on-line check-in is a single desk as you go the left. The main check-in area is behind that in a larger room that was originally the lobby of the defunct restaurant (Bonfamille's Cafe).

I took some pics but they are still on my camera. Will add them when I can.

A CM told me that the check-in area was going to be re-done in the same colors/materials as the refurbished resort rooms. They have samples of some of the materials by the on-line check-in desk.

Hello friends and fans of POFQ! I think we have a new favorite resort!

Checked in and this is our second night. Loving it here. Hubby even went so far as to proclaim it his home resort now (we've stayed at everything from Ft Wilderness cabins to value to Deluxe resorts and DVC). High praise!

I've put a few photos in an album here ... http://imgur.com/a/4974P#0 ... I will embed them later in case someone wants to do it now ;) . We are in a corner river view room. It's less than four minutes from drink station to our room. Could not have asked for better!

Just returned from Port Orleans French Quarter for a mother/daughter/granddaughter vacation. It is our favorite hotel, and our 1st choice when we go to Disney. I too received the letter letting me know about the lobby renovation. We used online check-in, and our room was ready when we arrived :) BUT
there was also renovation going on in Building 3, something that involved screening from the bottom floor to the top next to the stairwell. All day, Jack hammers or something making a ton of noise. This was our first trip with my granddaughter, and she is still an infant but when we walked by the first time, her little hands flew up and she covered her ears and she started to cry. In order to use the elevator, we had to pass by this big noisy area. We ended up using the stairs on the other end of the building if we came back during the day, which any mommy knows is what you do during the day with your little ones at Disney.
Then to top off the fun, at 4:10 AM in the morning, the alarm clocks goes off, and woke the baby and a not so good time was had by all, until we could settle her down again! Shouldn't housekeeping reset that thing between guests????
Except for the hotel annoyance, we had a wonderful time, and can't wait to go back with our granddaughter, but it would have been nice if we had been informed about the other construction. I know we could have asked to be moved, but after getting everything up to our room, and heading out to the parks, when we got back and found out about the jack hammers or whatever, it was just too much. We just stayed away from the room during the day, and had our granddaughter sleep in her baby carrier.
We did talk to the hotel manager, and he said how sorry he was.
So, anyone checking in soon, do not let them put you in building 3!

Thanks for posting the pics. I see they boarded up the registration area after we left on Monday. Now everyone can see what I was talking about in my post!

Made resssies for sept 2 - 9, free dining yeah!

First stay at POFQ. Reserved a king bed room, requested river view. If I don't get that no big deal. At least I know I'll be in a corner room.

I have never heard of them checking the alarm clocks.:confused3 I always look at mine, to make sure it is off.

Us as well. That is something I have always considered to be my responsibility. And FWIW, I too have been woken up by an alarm at Disney for someone who had to get up much earlier than I would have liked to:crazy2:.
