Our numbers are 1, 5, 17, 33, and 1901. A very magical day at Disney: 5/30 complete!

You missed breakfast. It's on page 3. We ate a proper breakfast at the Riverbelle. Gotta have pancakes. :thumbsup2 We skipped lunch and had snacks and that salad and of course the fruit in my drinks count as food right? I always pack a ton of food. We had jerky and fruit etc....they snacked but I did kind of starve them so they'd pig out at Club 33. ;)

They slept. They know they're going back. I've made it too easy for them. I'm glad they slept though. It made the meet and long dinner so enjoyable as everyone was awake and engaged. Chloe will seize if she doesn't get enough rest so I never balk when she wants to nap. And let's be honest, less kids = less money + a better time. :lmao: Does that sound bad?

I got robbed! But like them I'll know I'll be back. We haven't made up our minds about APs yet. I'm waiting for the inevitable AP price increase before I get serious about pressuring Michael into a December holiday trip. :stir:

I saw breakfast...which was really second breakfast right? Pretending to be British I see :rotfl:

Heck as long as you guys are happy, none of it is bad, it was just surprising but I didn't know that about Chloe (though I do know how teen girls can be lol) and gosh yes, I'd facilitate that and it makes having the hotel room make even more sense.

I confess we've stopped packing food. Waters and drinks yes but the other it seemed like we'd schlepp and no one would eat. We tend to do our 3 squares at odd times 10/2/8) and not much snacking at all in between or it's one "big" snack around 4 or 5. The E's are having fits over the idea of no DDP on our next WDW trip.

No dessert every night?
No snacks?

The horror!

:rotfl: (they will get a snack per day for sure but probably no dessert unless we hit buffets....not my fav but may well work best for this trip).

Ah yes, the ticket price increase. Guess the April rumors for WDW didn't happen which makes me happy, I hate the idea of buying something now for Dec. I already bought one ticket for then, was not looking forward to the other 3...a June/July purchase/iuncrease is so much more palatable to me.

Or a hobbit. ::yes:: We had second breakfast though they barely had first breakfast. Their pastries are terrible.

Shes got a benign form of epilepsy and seizures can and are brought on by exhaustion and a myriad of other physical symptoms. She's a trooper though and knows when she's had enough. She's my sleeper. Having a hotel was a must unless we went to my friend's and came back at night which is a headache even though she's only 15 minutes away. In So Cal Anaheim traffic time, it can range anywhere from 15-40. :scared1:

No DDP? Dictator! :rotfl: I like them to eat full meals too but I swear we consume double the calories when at Disney. :confused3

:rotfl2: So first world, right. :rotfl2: Hilarious.

why are you skipping the DDP? We're talking your December trip right?

Thats exactly how I feel. I don't want to buy something we won't use until December. I hope they wait until summer to increase. Actually, i hope they don't increase at all. Do WDW and Disneyland increase at the same time? I can't imagine Disneyland's getting much higher. :faint: $649 a person is going to kill me.

I am soooo behind on reading trip reports! I didn't see your new one until just now! I need to go back and get caught up on your WDW trip but for now, I am in DL mode!;)

We leave in less than 2 months (just waiting for school to get out) and this will be our 1st Carsland trip so I appreciated your tips! First thing, TSMM and Soarin' ..... Here we come!:cool1:

I see you get to take your whole family to Club 33 (VERY exciting) but did you also get to go for your birthday as well? Enquiring minds want to know!:)

wouldn't that be pretending to be Hobbits or would you have to have brunch then elvinsies, before lunch as well.

well....I guess they are farmers :cool1: I had a co worker mention 2nd breakfast yesterday which is why it was top of mind. Although in his case...first breakfast was at 3am as he rows at 5am. My feeling is nothing at 3am can be considered breakfast.

Second breakfast (or zweites Frühstück, Drugie śniadanie) is a meal eaten after breakfast, but before lunch. It is traditional in Bavaria, and in Poland. In Bavaria or Poland, special dishes are made exclusively to be eaten during second breakfast. In Vienna and most other parts of Austria the second breakfast is referred to as Jause. It is typical to eat four to five meals a day in these locations. (apparently Hobbits eat 6)

The second breakfast is typically a lighter meal or snack eaten around 10:30 in the morning. It consists of coffee, pastries such as monkey bread and the like, or some sausages. The typical sausage is a white sausage, Weißwurst, which is considered the specialty of Munich. The sausage is prepared during the early morning to serve during the second breakfast. It is served with pretzels, sweet mustard, and wheat beer. The meal is roughly similar in concept to the British elevenses, though elevenses is little more than a colloquial term for a mid morning snack. In Poland second breakfast usually consists of some snacks like sandwiches, or pastries, but may consist of light dessert type dishes like chocolate pudding or kisiel.

First and second breakfast is also a common custom in farm areas of North America. Farmers who need to rise early to tend to animals or perform other chores may eat a small "first breakfast", such as toast and coffee, just after rising, followed by a heartier second breakfast after the first round of chores are done.

Chores in this case being getting FP...and I would say Jenny definitely had her work cut out for her in that case...and she tended to animals (JK)....though she is the one who skipped first breakfast

:lmao:

I did go to Club 33 for lunch for my bday with my girlfriends. It was amazing. I'll find you the link. I think it's in in my DVC trip report. Either that or my cruise report. I'm about to start a 4th report but I'm afraid I'll look kinda freaky. :rotfl2:

Here's my Club 33 bday lunch link. It continues into the next page.

I'll get to dinner at Club 33 and I can tell you it was the most amazing we've shared as a family. So magical.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You seriously have me cracking up which says a lot being I've had a crappy day at work. Long story for another time.

Yes, I was a farmer. :lmao: They are beasts but beasts that I love and the reason we try to spend as much time with them as possible. I'm a beauty amongst beasts! I did skip first breakfast. I knew second would be better than first.

We arrived back up to the room to see it still dark. Joshua had showered and the girls were still asleep. I woke them up, offered them the salad, and gave them the option to go to 1901, stay in the room, or venture to the park and meet us for dinner near the exit of POTC at 6:00. This is when they broke me. They all begged me to tell them where we were going for dinner. I tried to hold my ground but it was 4 v 1 and I'm weak people. I caved and told them we had dinner reservations at Club 33 for daddy's birthday. pixiedust: It was sheer joy and excitement. Chloe, who is our biggest Walt Disney fan, was beyond excited. Michael and Joshua had heard me yammer on about it forever and were also elated. Gabby said: cool, somewhere exclusive. Teenage girls. LOL! She was also very happy. Happy Birthday to Michael! And thank you again to our sponsor.

Again, I offered for them to go to 1901, stay, or meet us for dinner and play in the parks a bit without us. They chose to go to 1901 and I'm glad they did. I would have hated for them to miss out and really wanted to share it with them. I had been texting with Alison. Her, Fran, and their friend (who asked that he remain anonymous) were on their way.

I was really looking forward to them meeting my family and vice versa. I had such a good time at lunch that I knew theyd hit it off.

We all got dressed and packed casual stuff for later. Once you see my shoes at dinner, you'll know why I could never tour in them. :scared: I'm an Ugg and flip flop girl and very casual by nature. Not sloppy, just casual. I think the term use to be granola. No makeup, minimal primping and prepping. Some may say lazy. ;) I prefer to say more natural.

We headed over to DCA from the DLH with huge smiles on our faces. I loved being one of those people who looked more dressed for dinner than for riding Indy. :cloud9:

I have NO idea why we didn't use the GCH entrance but I just asked DH and confirmed we went through the Main entrance at DCA. Amateurs. My newbie is showing.

We arrived to 1901 a few minutes early and watched the street show. I still didn't get a great look at Buena Vista St. Next time.

Alison, Fran, and their friend arrived right on time. Introductions we made and we went in. DH liked them right away. The kids were a little on the shy side which is unlike them but I threatened them not to fight or they'd all be back at the hotel with Earl of Sandwich instead of Club 33. I think I scared them silent. LOL!

Chloe was the most outgoing and took photos. She has really gotten into taking pictures so why not? Left us more time to chat. :teeth:

We were going to dinner and I really didn't want the kids to eat. It was almost 5:00 and dinner was at 6:15. With the few bites of the salad and various snacks they were fine. Chloe eyed Alison's mini corn dogs but she held off. Gabby did eat a few olives but thats it. Okay...I'm getting ahead of myself.

We walked in and our host told us various stories about artwork, photos, and general facts about 1901. I was in heaven. Truly.

Our cute little server came over, introduced herself, and gave us menus:

Michael ordered a glass of wine, Gabby and I ordered water (I know, don't say it but I was still tipsy from the pool, knew we'd order a bottle of wine with dinner and wanted to remain fairly coherent), Chloe ordered an orange soda, and Joshua ordered a drink made with rose water:

Fran and their friend ordered Diet Cokes and Alison ordered the coolest martini made with an airless ice cube that melted very slowly. I cant really describe it so luckily I took lots of pics. They also ordered mini corn dogs and gilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. It looks really good and I missed snapping a photo.

First is the machine that takes a big cube of ice and transforms it into an airless cube of slow melting ice. Its remarkable:

Follow along. Its like a storybook for adults:

And voila. The olives are stuffed with bleu cheese:

Continued in the next post.....

While we talked about cooking, traveling, being a DIS spouse, 1901, and general Disney history, Chloe took photos. She is not a pro yet but working on it. She had a blast and thats what matters. I think she did a great job. Enjoy:

DH took this one:

The next is the story that goes with the photo below it:

Alison told me that on this shelf there is something that represents all of the lands in Disneyland. How cool is that?!

It was about 5:45 and since we had our reservation at 6:15, it was time to scurry over Disneyland. We said goodbye to our friends but not before getting the obligatory meet pic as Alison refers to it. If theres no pic, it didn't happen. LOL!!!! Their friend, the member, requested to remain anonymous.

Meeting up again and spending some time with my family and friends (and their friend) in 1901 was truly amazing. I know I use that adjective a lot but thats what it was; amazing! I wish I could remember the descriptions for all of the photos but it was a lot to take in. I didn't take notes but I bet Alison would be happy to answer any questions.

DH paid the tab and we were on our way out. The necklace and earrings I am wearing are from Epcot. I thought it fitting to bring the two coasts together and blend the magic. Michael bought them for me on our last trip. Very sweet.

On the way way out:

To be continued.......at Club 33!

This is beyond cool. It's fully sick! That are some great family shots and shots with Alison and Fran you've shared.

Here's to that magical sponsor. He's just fantastic and so generous.

It was beyond cool and I don't think my words give it justice. It's really was so special. :goodvibes I don't know that picking up the tab was enough to express our thanks but its a start. pixiedust: So much pixiedust.

I like the photos too. :thanks: And I agree, we had a very kind and generous sponsor.

Chloe got some great shots, and no I don't think I could answer many questions about what things were, but those chairs that you and Michael were sitting in, they were a tribute to the guy who started Disneyland, his name was Walt Disney and his wife was Lillian! :lmao:

Boy, the camera adds at least 20 pounds! :rotfl2: And you know what? I'm wearing that same dress today! I guess I like it for special occasions! :thumbsup2

Great update and I can't wait to hear about your dinner at the club!

Thanks for popping over. I think you look great in that photo. :goodvibes You both do. It was a fun afternoon. Thanks again for meeting us and surviving all 5 of us.

1901 looks amazing. I love all the different memorabilia around the place. I was fascinated by the airless ice cube and the Martini looked great. I also loved the sound of Joshua's drink. I love rosewater.

Thank you Corinna, it was so terrific. The memorabilia is fantastic and very heartwarming. I was also fascinated with the airless cube. It was a really neat machine and I can't recall the name for the life of me.

I'd never had rosewater and it was tasty! Very refreshing.

Had we not had dinner reservations I would have ordered a drink but I knew we had a huge meal ahead of us.

Just to clarify, if it isn't EMH then do the wide right technique and worry about FP later? Is that correct?

Is there always a long line at the RSR FP machine or does it eventually shorten?

We will be in the parks on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday. I think Mon is EMH at CA and we won't be staying on site so won't be doing that. We will do MM at DL on Tuesday....

::yes:: I believe you are correct. If it's not an EMH day then do wide right. If you do wide right, I'd be tempted to skip the FP chaos and just do single rider if everyone in your party is good with that.

There is always a line at the RSR FP machine until they run out. It's nuts. I hope it dies down at some point but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

MM at Disneyland is the best. I love when the sidewalks are still damp and everything is so clean. Where are you staying?

We can't do single rider...DD is only 7 and we won't mind waiting just so we can all ride together.

I am wondering if we should just do wide right, go on RSR and then get FP's for later? I know you said RSR broke down first thing though.....does it break down equally throughout the day or is more often first thing in the morning?

We are staying at HoJo's - our 2nd time there.

Darn for no single rider. I would do wide right and then get in line for FPs. I'm not sure if RSR breaks down more in the morning or not but read that it does go 101 a lot. :crazy2: You can always just do RSR once a day too. I'd be tempted to just do wide right and then focus on other rides the rest of the day. Make RSR your rope drop ride. On days that DCA has EMH, I'd wait for a FP as the lines will already be long due to hotel guests and wide right not being an option.

Fun! Their pirate pool is really neat. I bet your DD likes it. We stayed there many years ago and really liked it. We had pizza delivered to the pool and watched a semi obstructed view from the pool. It was really fun.

Love, love, LOVE the photo of you and your DH in Walt and Lillian's chairs! That one is frame-worthy.

Having three teens is probably chaotic at times, but you have to love evenings like that when you can take them all somewhere special!

Thank you. It was so fun sitting in those chairs. Maybe I will frame it? Our anniversary is in August and he loves family photos. Maybe I'll get a small set of the trip on canvas? Thanks for the idea. It was such a great afternoon.

Yes, 3 can be chaotic and I could throttle them, as I'm sure they could me,:lmao: but they're really good kids, kind to others, solid, and they sort of seem to get it already; that we're not the enemy and its our job to help shape them into responsible and productive members of society. We've got a strong bond for sure. Of course they can be beasts- lol- like all kids but that's part of life and growing pains for sure. There is something truly magical about Disney together as a family. Maybe I'm more chill so they're more mellow but life is just right when we're all there together. Even our uber snotty 16 y/o said that she couldn't imagine not going on Disney trips with us. She asked if she still gets to go when she leaves for college. :teeth: I hope she continues to feel that way. I hope they all do. I'm excited to have some fun Disney plans in the works over the next couple of years.
