Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls tonigth .......

What are the chances for free dining to be extended/ Anyone know form years past. I have plans for 10/18/to 10/25 of this year.:confused3

well I haven't made it through the first 57 pages of this thread, but seriously I want to cry, why is the beginning of value season excluded! this just plain sucks. We are traveling Aug 20-27th! I can't change our dates and no dining or other discount means that we won't be able to stay at Port Orleans which may kill me I love it!

If, and that is a big if at this point, FD were to be released for the fall, the 18th would likely be the date that the offer picks up again after the normal mid-October blackout period. That is only if it stays true to the same pattern as in years past. Our dates are Oct. 18-26. :goodvibes

Howdy all, newbie here to the disboards and I was just curious if someone could help me out. I am planning to go down on Oct 20th through the 26th. Got my flight booked, now just need a room. If I book a room now for that time frame, and then they offer the FD, do I get the FD, or do I have to wait until they announce the FD and then book? It's been awhile since we've been down to Disney and looking forward to going back. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated :) . Thanks !

If you book a room now and any kind of a discount is announced later, whether it is free dining, a room discount, or some other plan, you can call and have it applied to your reservation if there is availability for your room type. Disney will never apply a discount to a reservation that you have already made unless you ask for it. :)

They won't announce discounts for October until much later this year. So if you already have your airfare booked, you might want to make your room reservations now.

Don't despair!!! There is a rumor of a room-only discount coming for those dates. Not sure how much it would be for PO, but something is better than nothing.

Thanks to all who answered gives some idea when to watch for the offerings if there is any heres hoping somekind of savings for October.

Do you know if the Room-Only Discounts will be the same for all of the Moderate Resorts? I noticed that Port Orleans French Quarter sometimes gets a worse discount and that is where we are staying. I am already upset by the news that we are going to miss the Free Dining Offer since we are arriving August 25th. I will be devastated if FQ gets a lower discount than the rest of them!

Hello, I am very sorry if these are repeat questions, but I was looking all through the thread and couldnt find the information:

1) Should I book directly through Disney to get FD or can I use a travel agency (e.g., Small world vacations or AAA?) Are there advantages toeither approach?

2) Do I have to pay the standard rate for tickets, or can I get the tickets through a discount broker?

Sorry for the questinos, I am trying to figure out how much to save up (or put on our credit card!)

1. Either or and it comes down to preference.

2. No, you have to book your tickets at the same time.

You can not book a room only reservation now and then later add a free dining discount. To add the FD discount to an existing reservation, you must be booked under a Magic Your Way package that will include room, tickets and dining. The FD package will require 3 night minimum and 2 day base ticket for everyone in the party.

You can call and add a room only discount to a room only reservation or a package reservation without rebooking.

The October - December FD dates are not usually announced until July, sometimes August.

There's no way to know that right now.

Thank you! I am new so I was wondering what is your preference and why? (hoping to learn from all you disney pros)

Well, we were originally planning on going from Nov 1-10, anticipating free dining, but those plans had to be changed because I found out I was pregnant! So we changed our reservation to October 3-12, a month earlier, also hoping for free dining. But now with free dining (un)officially announced, we changed AGAIN, to September 25-Oct 4! We are lucky, because our dates are very flexible. IF free dining is offered from Oct 3-12, we will switch back. But for now, looks like were going in September.
Is there a big difference in weather between end of Sept and beginning of Oct?

September weather is unpredictable. Some years it has been super hot, last year it was lovely. In fact, it was too cool to swim most days (well, for us anyway, we are used to really hot weather!). The heat doesn't bother us because most of the parks have lots of air conditioned attractions and restaurants, not like six flags. That place is HOT!!
