And in other news, our friends just returned from a week at WDW and report that they found Dole Whips with spiced rum in Epcot!! Just when I thought a Dole Whip couldn't get any better . . .

No way!! How did i miss this :confused3 Where?

I had it a few days ago, and my two year old was very perturbed that I wouldn't share my ice cream with him!

@ Sue M- I think there is a booth as part of the Flower and Garden Festival. I'm not sure if this is a permanent addition.

pixarmom- did your friend try these?

JulieT3- how was it?

I was following a thread- either on Theme Park or Resorts and the report from Cheshire Figment was that it was not good. Looking for someone who enjoyed one.

Maybe they should try adding some Mango flavored (I assume someone makes this) vodka, then the pineapple juice, then the DW.

After much back and forth, we are booked for end of Sept! Doing a split stay, last half YC/GV CL. Can't wait to get back to SAB!

We went back to POFQ for a rest and then hit Epcot at night for EMH and did Soaring, where one of my sons caught the golf ball and blew my 6 y.o. nephew's mind. Nephew was going back and forth between believing and not believing but what sealed the deal was when we asked the CM at the exit if we had to return the golf ball in case the golfer still needed it. With out missing a beat the CM said "No you caught it, you get to keep it" and nephew's jaw hit the floor once more. The whole way home he kept talking about how he could not believe DS caught the ball!

I'm so far behind, but this is FANTASTIC!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So excited. I was finally able to add another night at our beloved BC to our April stay. We are now arriving on the 12th instead of the 13th! I wanted to do this a month ago, but there were no GV rooms available with the discount. But I kept checking back and finally found availability yesterday! Nw we will be able to relax, settle in and enjoy the resort more!

What are some of your favorite evening resort things to do?

Its official. Christmas-new years is so much more tolerable than spring break. This is ridiculous.

We are staying at the YC Garden View this May. Does anyone recommend any room requests for us? I'd like a full balcony but I heard most all rooms already have full balconies. Is there a chance I could get a view of the Boardwalk or maybe Epcot? I haven't put in any requests yet but would like a nice view! :)

Any other suggestions besides the wedding pavilion view?

In your experience, are reservations for the SeaRaycers at the YC a must (early Nov), or are they available most of the time? :beach:

When we rented the sea racers in January, there were tons of them and we were the only guests renting at the time. I was timing the walk from Picabu to YC with our middle son, and the rest of our family just walked up to the marina and rented on the spot. Now that I think of it, every time I've photographed the marina (during various times of year) there have always been sea racers in the photo - so I would hope it would be similar in November!

I had it a few days ago, and my two year old was very perturbed that I wouldn't share my ice cream with him!

I would have that exact same problem! :)

Yes, she did try it and LOVED it! It was among the first things she mentioned about her trip, so it ranked quite high!

I know! The plane tickets for the five of us cost $750 more this year than last year. They have been creeping up and up so I bought mine, too. I know at some point there could be a sale, but I can't risk having us sitting all over the plane. I saw some families doing that last year, begging the airline to move people to seat them together, but no dice.

We'll be one of those families sitting all over the airplane next month. I kept putting off buying the tickets until our tax refund came in and by then the price had went up a few bucks, but many seats had sold. I could have booked a later flight, but I want to be in Orlando at 11am and not 3pm. ;) So my 11 year old is sitting a couple rows in front of my husband and I (who I had to put in an exit row because no one under 18) and my 6 year old will be right across the aisle and my 7 year old will be right behind her. Oh well, we'll be close to each other and on our way!:thumbsup2 I haven't exactly told my husband this yet, though....

I am working on the FAQ post about On-line vs. In-Person Checkin-

This is the info I have.

If anyone has done the checkin for YC, could you let me know what choices are given for room requests.

If anyone has experienced different requests, let me know.

Thanks! Dee

60 Day Online Checkin/My Disney Experience

Confirm arrival and departure times.
Pick PIN numbers to use for park and resort purchases

There is also an option of clicking a box which said they would possibly allow early entry to a room prior to 3 but it might override room requests.

Request for a day bed does not appear to be an option you can request through on-line checkin.

We're BC CL SV and I was going to do online check in today. I'll let you know what options are for CL.

You guys are sooo bad! Why do I feel that many of the future guests at the Yacht/Beach club are going to be rolling around the parks singing "99 Sunkin Treasures on the waaaaall, 99 Sunkin Treasures!!!!". Of course this is coming from someone who totally buys into the plan to bring your refillable mug to the parks to keep those beverages cool!

I'm so far behind, but this is FANTASTIC!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks! The other way you can mess with a small child's mind is to take jewels to Mickey's Philharmagic and catch them as they fly from the screen. I never did find plastic jewels to catch for my Niece but we never made it there anyway.

I always wonder if it wouldn't be a neat thing for a husband to "catch" some real jewelry to give to his wife in that attraction.... Think of how cute that would be!! Or better yet if you were getting engaged at Disney that might be the place to do it!

(See how bad we are in this thread! First we are getting everybody drunk and now we are giving husbands excuses to buy their wives jewelry!)

In other news I tried to talk my husband into adding a night at the Beach Club for our June trip. He is till on the fence about the whole thing but it may be a moot point as the availability is just not there. I'm finding that the YC/BC is booking up earlier than I would expect so, if you are thinking about taking a trip in the future, it seems as if it's better to book as early as possible.

It seems to me that the best thing to do is book as soon as the latest discount offer comes out, rather than wait until you know for sure what your plans will be. So for us, that means that the discount offers determine when we travel versus us doing the determination based on the season or school schedule. For some people this doesn't work, but for us we get the benefit of the discount, which is usually offered during times when the parks are not in peak demand.

The other thing is to book early, before any discounts come out and then try to apply them after the discounts are revealed. Disney will apply the discount if applicable but the trick here is to call as soon as the discount is revealed, because only so many rooms at the resort are eligible for that discount. For example suppose there is a "Labor Day sale". For this sale the resort might only have 20 rooms available for the sale period at that discount. Once those rooms are sold, the discount for that time period is sold out and you might be back to the regular rate. I have seen Disney have a sale, sell out the rooms available at that rate, say that there is no longer availability for that time period, have the sale date end (Ex. Must purchase by such and such a date), and then more rooms become available for that same time period but they are charging the regular rate.

The other approach is to keep checking every day to see if something has become available, but the longer your stay the less likely there will be an open block if you book late.

So for the Beach and Yacht club, it's better to book early, especially now that demand seems to be ramping up.

This has been a public service message from Ninja Mom. Your mileage may vary. Please keep your hands and arms inside the ride at all times and hold small children by the hand as you exit this advice. Also, Por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas!

I totally agree. I did NOT enjoy buying airfare this year. Almost opted for the Auto Train :scared1: but can't add the time to our trip this year. My account at work is almost quadrupling in size and our team is going from 3 nurses to 8 nurses :scared1::scared1:

But, while in WDW I will NOT be thinking about WORK!

Ha! I also looked into the Auto Train option after I saw the airfare prices.

I finally bought airfare for our late August trip. I had purchased our flights down (2 free seats on JetBlue points, 2 for $89 each), but the return flights on Labor Day were awful. So I waited a bit. They finally dropped by about $50 each, but it is still about $70 more each then I am happy paying. I'm glad I did it though, cause the next day they shot right back up again and have been increasing since.

I'm trying to look on the bright side. I never like paying more than $1000 for us roundtrip and I haven't since we had points to use and the seats for the flight down were cheap.

And the drink (or ten) by the pool at Stormalong Bay is going to make it all worth it.

I am so going to do this to my kids in August. Thanks for the idea.

Hi there,
We're flying in & out of Sanford Airport. When we fly out, the flight is 8:15am and I'm wondering whether to shave a day off our BC stay and heading to Sanford the night prior to our flight. I hate to cut our BC stay short but 1 night at the BC vs 1 night in Sanford is a savings of $325. But before we make any decisions I had a few questions.

After checkout at 11am, is the use of SAB still ok? I'm thinking Bell Services could hold our luggage until we get the rental car later on that day? I've read where people have been able to use the resort's amenities while waiting for a flight later that day. But for a flight the next day, albeit an early flight, I'm not sure if the situations are the same.

Anyone have any experience with this situation or an opinion?

Thanks a bunch,
Joanne

I just had a thought / question about the 60 day online check-in...

Our reservation is room only, and the cancellation policy says that you must cancel 5 days prior to your arrival date to get a refund of any deposits.

If you check in at the 60 day mark and then have to cancel for whatever reason, is that still OK? ie: Can you cancel and get your deposit back even though you've already "checked in"?

I'm guessing you could still cancel, but I wouldn't want to be surprised and find out otherwise. :)

:welcome:

Let me know if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1. When is your trip?

Yes, you are a guest of the resort until midnight. You just won't have a room. You are welcome to use SAB, just show your room key which should have the date you are checking out. There are lockers and showers in the health club you can use to change. Bell services will hold your stuff until you are ready to take it.

Enjoy!

I just have 2 quick questions:

1 - Can you request a microwave for the room?
2 - Is there a resort specific site for the Beach Club? Kind of like portorleans.org for the Port Orleans resort.

1- yes, when you check in, based on availability. There is a microwave in the Marketplace for use as well

2- Not that I am aware of. Hopefully you can get whatever you need here!
