March 24th,2013 / 4 nights Bahamas

My DD was 1.5 months from her 11th birthday last year and they said absolutely no way about going into the Edge. :(

The kids are allowed to go the younger clubs to be with siblings or just because they like it, but DCL are big sticklers about moving up. Ultimately it was fine because she enjoyed the activities in the Lab. There may be a few group activities that everyone can join though.

Since the search feature is disabled, I can't find the recent threads about the Edge, but I thought one of them mentioned that there are times when non-Edge age kids were allowed to participate each day. They just had to leave as soon as the activity was done. They couldn't hang out there. I could be wrong, though. Hoping somebody who has been there recently knows for sure! It would be nice for all these 10 1/2 and 11 yo girls to be able to hang out together!

Well there's always the pool and sports deck too right? My TA says it depends on the number of kids in each age group and the makeup of each segment. If there are enough 11-14 yr olds that the Edge is full they will be strict with the age cut offs. But if there is room and the majority of the group isn't say 14 yr olds then there is a possibility on an individual basis if the two are bffs. We just have to see when we are on the ship.

Called DCL this morning and they are sending new luggage tags for free!!!

I did find it odd that when I called yesterday and today, neither CM asked me security questions address/DOB/etc. after giving the reservation number..odd.

Interesting, my travel agent just told me that he has to wait 5 days before they will send me new ones for free. I never got the original packet and he doesn't have it either. So on Monday, just two weeks before I board a plane for Florida, he will be calling for my luggage tags. This is just ridiculous. What happens if I never get the package??? I'm so frustrated right now.

I guess I don't understand why your docs are going to your TAs at all...We book all of our cruises with a TA and our docs come straight to us. :confused3

I don't get it either. I've only taken one other Disney cruise, in November 2011, and the docs came straight to me. I just can't figure it out. The interesting part is that I booked this cruise while on board that November 2011 cruise and they added my TA to it because he had booked the original.

I called back again today..still did not ask me any security questions with the reservation which makes me very uneasy about their security policies but this CM now told me that between 15-20 days before we sail, I can request new tags which will be sent UPS with tracking and she keep saying about the book but I'm not paying $50.

She also told me they are only stickers and she has no idea what the DME tags are then later on said that they are nothing like the DME tags since she knows about them?! Really. Then told me the tags are taken off when delivered to the the room which I've found out is not true either.

I'm not sure why this is so difficult for them to reprint tags and mail them. DME does it without question and for free. Very frustrating.

My family and I are first time cruisers with all of you. Since the search feature is disabled I was hoping that someone could tell me how the on board credits work. I know we have $150 in credits but how do you keep track of what you have spent while you are on cruise? Is there a way to do a balance inquiry or something? With having a 17 year old who will probably abandon us for the teen club I am worried about him overspending.

I think that you can see your account on your TV on the Dream. If not, then you can always stop by guest services and get a print out anytime.

You should be able to finagle overnight courier.

Here's a picture of our family on our first cruise, last March. (Animator's Pallete, our favorite dinner.)

One twin has had her braces off since then, the youngest now has contacts and they've all gotten taller. We've all matured a little in the past year, but we still resemble this photo. ;)

Sorry the photo is so huge.

Huge is all good! Much easier to see your beautiful family! :thumbsup2

The package was mailed via regular mail on 2/7, so it has to be missing for 25 days before they will re-send for free. It is now 20 days missing, so we have to wait until Monday before my TA can request a resend without the $50 charge. They said that my TA can request that the package be sent directly to me and it should take a week (printing and sending) to get here via UPS. However, if I don't get it, it's not really a problem. They will provide me with luggage tags at the port or at my resort (we'll be at Bay Lake Tower prior to the cruise). I have already done the online check-in and have my signature documents all printed, so they will check me in with that.

So....moral of the story.....tell your TA to mark your reservation so that all documentation is mailed directly to you, the passenger. And, if you don't get it, don't sweat it.

:goodvibes

When I called DCL they told me the same thing. Mine was also mailed on the 7th and I haven't gotten it, and I live in Central FL. I'm going to wait 5 more days and then request it again along with the UPS tracking. Glad to hear that someone else has gone through the same thing..although it stinks!!!

LUGGAGE TAGS ARRIVED!!!!

The original package never came but the tags only that I had requested were post marked on the 28th and arrived in a day from Lake Buena Vista. I'm 100% sure that the package with the book/tags was never sent, lost, or arrived at my apt complex and was put in someone else's box and it was thrown out.

22 days to go!

My family is looking forward to cruising on the Dream. We've cruised a couple times before, but never with Disney. We're from the St. Louis area, and our daughter is 9 years old. We're interested in participating in the "Fish Extender" game - just read about it and think it's a great idea!! Does anyone know if a list has been started for our cruise yet? :)

Welcome to disboards! Congratulations on your first Disney cruise - it took just one and we were hooked - I imagine your family will be as well! My DS is also 9 and I'm sure he and your daughter will meet up in the kids club some time during the cruise. The FE list closed on 2/15 so that everyone could complete their gifts before sailing. I'm so sorry but on your next DCL cruise (I'm willing to bet there will be a next one!) sign up early as not to miss out on the fun. Not to worry, you will have lots of fun activities to keep you busy. Enjoy your first Disney cruise! :goodvibes

We still haven't made arrangements for transportation from our WDW Resort to PortCanaveral. How is everyone else getting there? Looking for other options than the Disney Shuttle. Thanks :)

Last year, we used Cocoa Beach shuttle -- they were pretty reasonably priced.

Welcome and have a great cruise. I have a DS8, so I'm sure he'll be running into your daughter in the kids club.
