March 23, 2013 FANTASY - The Final Inaugural Cruise of the Disney Fantasy

Got our docs, Saturday, but still haven't got air tickets yet. The airfare is still crazy high, and I keep missing the specials that only last for hours.

Got our docs, Saturday, but still haven't got air tickets yet. The airfare is still crazy high, and I keep missing the specials that only last for hours.

I would not be able to handle not having airfare yet - my inner control freak needs to have everything planned and settled way in advance! I know you can get great last minute deals I've just never been able to hold out for one - I think I booked our airfare for this cruise about an hour after Southwest opened the dates! Good luck in your search - I hope you get a great deal soon. :thumbsup2

I'm now obsessed with checking the airfare multiple times of the day. A lot of the flights are still showing nearly 1/2 of their seats still available, so it's ridiculous why the airfares are so high. The only good thing is that my cousin Jackie has decided to come instead of my mum. So anyone who made up a personalized FE gift for my mum, don't worry they are interchangeable.

Our family is very excited about taking our first cruise during spring break. My DH, DS11, and DD8 will be joining me. :cheer2: Any advice for first time cruisers?
Can't believe it's almost here. Booked this back in the fall of 2011.

Welcome Itssofluffy:wave2:
there's alot of advice and info on these boards, but it can take you a long time to read everything. I would probably make a list of questions and then do a search on the "cruise forum" for the answers. Get a book like the Passporter guide to disney cruises, this was and still is extremely helpful to me. I use the ebook version on my kindle fire since I can use it as a quick reference when I have no internet. Then ask us questions, I'm sure there's many who would benefit from any advice given.

I agree that you should skim over the first five pages of the main DIS board and get the Passporter. Also read through the FAQ thread on the first page. Lots of links there with info. After that, come back and let us know what you have questions about. There is just so much information to cover.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm a bit of a research junky. I have the Passporter and have gone to many websites. Guess my first questions are about the 2 shore excursions I've signed our family up for. Anyone know if the St. John Eco Hike is good? Wondering if it's worth it? Also signed us up for the Hands on Criollo Cooking Demonstration in San Juan.

Thanks for your help!

I'm also signed up with DD, so I guess we'll find out since we've never been before either.

Welcome Itssofluffy, it's out first cruise as well and this board has been a huge help!! I also have a D8!!

What has been most helpful is things to pack, over the door shoe organizer for sunscreen, hair products etc, flashlight for stateroom, and a power strip .

Only 4 more weeks!!!

Welcome, we're Ohioans too (Cincinnati) & I have a DD 7.

for everyone...
I compiled tips that I have seen for packing. Sorry for the repeat for those of you experts who already know this! :)

Sticky notes
Over the door shoe hanger
pillowcase & sharpies for the characters to sign (+ candy for them!)
Boxed movie candy
your own cup (you can't fill your personal cups directly at the beverage station, but what you can do is take one of the Disney paper cups and fill yours up.)
Pop Up Hampers
Bonine
$1 Bills for Room Service Tipping -it's nice to have an envelope with $1 bills in it so you can quickly grab a couple when your nightly milk and cookies are delivered. :-)
Sunscreen/sunglasses
Power Strip
highlighter to mark your navigator
Downy wrinkle release
Air freshner
Boca clips for swimsuits on balcony
Wristlet
light backpack
flashlight
Small swing pack Trash bags. You can use them as dirty laundry bags and pretty much to separate clean from dirty stuff when packing to go home
crossbody bag...wave phone doesn't fit in most wristlets

I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!:cheer2:

WEEKLY REMINDER :VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR OUR DISNEY FANTASY CABIN TOUR CAT T, 9 10 AND 4E

Hi again we will be doing a Cabin Tour of the different categories and variations of cabins on our beautiful ship.

Volunteers are really needed to make this interesting tour work.

We need volunteers who don't mind showing off their cabins, and volunteers/disers who would like to tour.

The tour will take place on our 1st sea day Sunday March 24th at 2-3.30 pm, while our cabins are newly lived in.

This will also help us to locate our some of our FE doors, make plans for future cruise selections, say hello and get to recognize some of our dis friends.

If you are willing to show your cabin please PM (Private Message) me with your category and cabin number so I can add it to the tour.

If you would like to just do the tour post or PM me your request so I can add you to the list.

I'll be including my cabin a category 8A. See the courtesy pictures below of some of the variety of cabins I have sailed in on the sister Dream ship.

Boca clips for swimsuits on balcony

You are not allowed to hang or keep anything out on the verandah other than the furniture that comes there.

Just a heads up, there is no murphy bed in the V. Instead it is an upper berth pull down bed.

Thanks. Description fixed.

I am SO excited for this cruise. It is a surprise birthday present for my son who will turn 5 during the cruise. I am having such a hard time not telling him the closer we get!! Now my 17 month old is dancing when she sees the commercials and it is making it even more difficult. We live in NYC and every time we drive pass the cruise terminal I have to hold my time. I hope the birthday boy meets some buddies his age. Can't wait to sail and meet everyone!!
