Just got home from a wonderful week at POR, our first time staying there! I have been lurking on this forum for weeks, but could not post, because DD14 thought we were staying at a value resort. She is like a little detective, so I could not mention in any of the forums that we were staying at POR, and even had it in my signature that we were staying at Pop. And it worked! She was totally taken by surprise when I turned into the entrance of POR! I want to thank Venomhatch for the information he gave me via PM about faxing the resort. We had reserved a royal room pool view and I faxed our requests about 5 days before our arrival. All of our requests were granted and our room was ready and waiting for us when we arrived at 10:30am. We were given a fabulous corner room on the ground floor (that one and only pool view room in Parterre Place). It was quiet, close to the bridge to the main building, and close to the parking lot without being able to see the lot at all. We both decided this was our favorite resort we have ever stayed at. So beautiful and peaceful. Mousekeeping was excellent and we did receive a few towel animals throughout the week, which was great fun! Much thanks out to Andre for his very helpful website and comments on this forum as well. I am happily joining in on the "obsessed with POR" bandwagon. What a great resort!

I feel like I'm in total limbo here. We're home from our trip and I can't wait to go back, but we don't have any plans - not even a ballpark of when we might get back. Our family is too big for one room in POR (it actually worked fine with 6 of us, but unless we win the lottery it won't be before our youngest turns 3. I loved POR and I'm torn between staying there again with two rooms or staying at another resort. Just to get an idea of pricing, I priced it with the current promotion and if I calculated correctly, 2 regular rooms at POR cost about the same as a suite at AoA and if any deals come up that involve dining, POR would be a better deal because you get QS dining at the values and the regular dining plan with the moderates.

So sad :(

We loved our stay @ POR and have 2 nights left in Orlando (we are staying offsite right now) so i called Disney to see if we can get back in for the rest of our stay and NO ROOMS available :(. Nothing at all. Not even at any other resort.

I was not expecting that. I figured we probably wouldn't get a Royal Room again but never thought it would be 100% full at this point in the year :(

Call again. I can't see there being NOTHING on property with the crowd levels the way they are. They don't even hit 100% occupancy at Christmas never mind early February. The website has been so awful that my guess is that the castmembers who are looking for inventory are having the same issues pulling up rooms that the rest of us are on the Disney site. Call and ask them to check with guest services.
I suppose it's possible but it really doesn't seem to be. Unless you're checking with a promo rate that is sold out. That would make sense.

Good morning Venom. I posted a thank you yesterday that everything we requested was given to us. Thanks to you and Andre for all your help. :goodvibes

Comments like this make my day that much more magical, knowing that we can spread so much pixie dust.

Call back there has to be something. I am sure that there are a lot of sad New Englanders who are stranded here and will be for some time. Flights are canceled through tomorrow. It is INSANE here. So glad I went for April this time. I hope you find something!

I would love to be stranded in Disney. What a dream especially as I sit here and type this while looking at a blizzard outside my window! :scared1:

For those like myself staying in a GV Royal Room what building are you requesting? I want something close to the action.... suggestions??

Hi all!

I was just filling out my fax request for 5 days from now (woooooooo!!!! :yay:can't wait!!) and I just realized I don't know which rooms to request in AB:scratchin. Could anyone shed some light on which rooms are the best? We didn't pay extra for the preferred buildings--just Garden View. I'd like one on the second floor, in a quiet area with a pretty view.

Thanks a ton in advance!!

looking out at all this snow is making me dream of April and our stay at POR!!!! We are requesting bld 17 in AB, looks like a good spot!

I'd like one on the second floor, in a quiet area with a pretty view.

Then why not simply request "second floor, corner room, in a quiet area with a pretty view" and let them work their magic? That would most likely put you a bit of a walk from the main buildings/bus stop though, so perhaps you might want to suggest buildings 16 or 17 if possible, as those fit the bill fairly well and aren't too much of a walk?

Thanks, Andre! So helpful as always!! :wave2:

I'm reading a lot of posts in this thread talking about faxing room requests to POR - I've been told for several years that those don't matter anymore. Yesterday, I read a comment somewhere that POR is the only resort that still accepts and processes them. Is this true? What's the real deal? ...and most importantly, what's the fax # - how do I make this happen? I can find an old general fax # but not sure if it's the same one.

We have a King room and would love to stay in the mansions. ???? Insight from those in the know? thanks!!!! :worship:

The only question I can answer is that the fax is 1-407-934-5777 ... good luck though!!

Well I can't speak for the other resorts, but the Room Allocators at Port Orleans definitely DO read faxed requests, and do their best to help when they can.

As for hints and tips on how to do it, well the FAQ in the first post would be a great starting place, as would www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php.

We are going back to POR tomorrow :banana::banana:

Have a fabulous time, I hope you get to spend some of it just enjoying being back at POR too. :thumbsup2

It'll be nice to try another section too - you did the Royal Rooms before, and now you've got the slightly different adventure of Alligator Bayou to explore. I love the lush landscaping there, and the more relaxed, informal feel to the quiet pools. And the kids will adore the fold-down bed! :yay: :cheer2:

I have a client booked in a Preferred room. She uses a scooter and needs to be on the ground floor. I called Special Services to put in this request and the CM told me it doesn't matter because the buildings have elevators :scratchin. So I explained to her that only Magnolia Bend buildings have elevators and my client will be in Alligator Bayou which doesn't have elevators. She said "Sir I just checked and all buildings have elevators". I told her she needs to check again. She put me on hold for a few minutes. When she came back she said she called the resort and had them make a note of the request. I just smiled and said thank you. Oh brother.
