Thank you - had it for four days now and feel terrible. Not so good when you can't blow your nose :( - it's the one thing I wish I could do! Lol

Not good when you are only 4 weeks into a new job either.

Nothing like vacation planning to take your mind off things...
I had my blood work done for my work physical last week and the doctor called me yesterday morning to tell me that I needed to see a doctor ASAP, my platelet count was extermely low and my WBC was low. So now I am waiting around thinking about it until I can call the doctor tomorrow and to top off the stress, my sister's court hearing about the kids is in on Wednesday. So I am distracting myself with vacation planning, Thanks for helping!

.

Had a similar thing happen a few weeks ago. Routine physical, liver functions came back very high (no alcohol or Tylenol) go get an ultrasound of my liver ASAP. Not a big drinker but sure wanted one cause they told me i couldn't have one. Did the the ultrasound got the call telling me to go to Urologist, while looking at liver saw kidney stones. Probably explains the pains I have been having.

Vacation planning has been very helpful these days!!

 hugs to you all

i suffered with kidney stones during my last pregnancy 2 years ago and they couldnt do anything for me. worse pain EVER, given birth 4 times with no pain relief, kidney stones i was screaming out for pethidine!!!:sad2:

I was going to send you two PMs, but the boys went out with their grandparents and I want to double-check my answers with them first. I probably got many of them wrong haha. Will send a bit later. Thanks again for doing this!!!

Sure take your time...
Don't need you to hurry and give wrong answers (or you could give them up and put in your own prefferences).... ;-)

Oh dear! Hope you are feeling better real soon. :thumbsup2::

Here everyone seems to be getting the flu, high fever and aches and after that is gone a bad cold seems to be hanging around.

Take care!

Thank you, try not to catch it yourself if it is going around your area! :goodvibes

So has everyone booked hotels in Barcelona? I am looking at a hotel outside of town that is a Holiday Inn Express that sleeps 4 for only $65 a night and includes breafast. I know it won't have the European feel to it but every other hotel in Barcelona was super expensive and slept two. Plus everyone in my group (besides nieces) have done Europe before. We are looking at private tours that would drop off/pick up at that hotel and don't plan on hanging out in Barcelona late at night. Thoughts?? I know it is a far cry from the W hotel I stayed at last time in Barcelona......

Oh no, that's the last thing you need especially with everything else going on. I know it is easy to say but try not to worry, let us know how you get on and good luck to your sister for Wed!

:( I hope you continue to improve

I will be thinking of you :goodvibes

Thank you :goodvibes

That sounds terrible, really hope you get it sorted soon! Take care of yourself

Best wishes to all the poorly people.

Thank you, seems silly to be moaning about a stupid cold compared to what you and others are going through!

I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday!! We had a great morning at church, got hubby off to work now, and I start work in about 25 minutes. Luckily I have some breaks between appointments and hope the girls take a lazy nap for me since I work in our front study.

If you see Lysand or BadBrad around - please remind them to check their PMs to do a placeholder. :grouphug: I've been trying to keep up with it here after I check the new thread every so often.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

I'll get back to you about this one.

Thanks everyone! I feel prefectly fine, no pain and not feeling miserable so I feel for the people in pain and with colds and the flu. That is the worst feeling. I have had a few nose bleeds and have blamed them on diving and working out, guess that wasn't the case. And please continue to keep my sister and her kids in your thoughts! I really want them to join us and for things to calm down.

Whenever I stay in one of Europe's great cities, I like staying close to the historical and cultural center. I like being able to walk around the corner to experience the local culture, such as ordering tapas, seeing a Flamenco show, or sitting at a cafe watching the locals on their evening stroll.

Personally, I would skip the private tours and use that money to stay closer to the center of activity.

I agree and have done this everytime I travel but I keep getting yelled at because travelling with children is different?? I won't know but that's what my sister keeps forcing on me.

Oh no! Hope you aren't in to much pain and that planning has been a great distraction!
One thing I should have thought to post--there's a budget hotel chain (along the lines of a Motel 6/Super 8) that is always inexpensive and clean, and tends to cater to a European clientele. My family and I have stayed at several of their hotels, and while they haven't been fancy, they have always been pleasant, and generally, you meet a lot of the local people:

http://www.hotelibis.com

Thanks, I am looking into this now!

A great way to take up some time (like five hours) is rethinking your hotel in Barcelona! I think I spent 30 before settling on ours haha. You can find something great in the Gothic, Born, or Eixample areas if you decide to change location.

I'm sorry to hear about your medical stress -- nothing like them telling you that on the weekend! :confused3 Don't they get that you will just think about all the possibilities until Monday morning?

I hope Wednesday goes as smoothly as possible and that things can settle down for your sister's family.

I have wasted a lot of time today on it and it has been wonderful, so many hotel options! I also went shopping! They called me yesterday with the results because they wanted me to go to the ER yesterday. My level was 20 when normal is 140-400. But I figured I would put it off until Monday since DH was only home for less than 12 hrs yesterday. He was away all last week and just flew out again this morning. I didn't want to spend time with him in the ER and then have him worry also. So I will find a doctor and then get an appointment tomorrow. I haven't been to a nonwork doctor since I lived at home and never got one here so hopefully my DH's doc will see me.

Boy, it seems there is a wave a bad medical luck going around! My mother went in to see the doctor last week (on her birthday, of course), and found out she had a huge cyst on her vocal chords, which would need to be removed immediately. The surgery went just fine, but she can't speak for two months. She will, however, be able to talk to everyone on the cruise.
Oh no, I hope she is doing well!

With several of us (5) this time, we ended up booking an apartment for 3 nights (they usually require 3 nights for apartments). Apartment came out cheaper than hotels we were looking at, and we are on a budget. Are you there long enough to do something like that? Love our location - about a block from Casa Bastllo. Kinda like Woody said - pastry shops, tapas, etc - in the middle of it all just north of Placa Catalunya.

I looked into some apartments when there was going to be 9 of us. I was a little nervous after reading some reviews about how you had to call to be let in since we won't have a phone with us and some other issues that happened when there is no front desk. Might look into it again if our group grows.

Ditto!! I read somewhere the flu vaccine in the US is only covering 62% of the strains this year. So much gunk going around.

Hubby had it in December (tested positive) but our youngest only had "flu like virus". Not positive for flu, strep, or rsv - and she was tested on a Sunday and a Wednesday when she got worse. Turns out whatever she did have had turned into pneumonia. We had four doctor visit copays in five days - and luckily the nurse just checked over our oldest one as a freebie.

DD Emily works in the ER at a local hospital and she said the cases of flu were flying in so much they ran out of the solution that you use to test for it. They have been taking the swabs and can't process them until the solution shows up.

 hugs to you all

Thanks!

I agree child birth is nothing compared to stones.

Believe me I wash my hands so much I have to use lotion regularly. That would be all I need. Having a baby is nothing compared to the stones.

Don't think so cause I'm still getting waves of pain. Had CT and should know more tomorrow. I plan on being good as new by the time the cruise comes in 120 days.

Had a stone I couldn't pass because it was to big. Went to the Lahey Clinic in Boston for a procedure called a Lithotripsy. They do a spinal then hoist you up in the air and lower you into a tank of water and pound you with sound waves. Turned the stone to sand. After the spinal wore off I felt like I had been beat. The sand had to removed via a scoop because like most wet sand it clumped, But that's another story.

:welcome: JimmyL47! I'm guessing you'll be sailing with us :wave2:

Wow!! Chatty chatty!!! Lol DD had a basketball tournament this weekend so I had a lot of reading to do when we got back home!
Well wishes to all of those who are/were/getting sick or health issues! Get them out if the way now, right?!?
I assume the new page isn't ready yet? I was reading & trying to get laundry etc done at same time so I may have missed something.

It's not yet ready. Mandy's waiting on two other organizers to reserve their posts. Once they do, then we'll get this one closed and move over there. :drive:

You read my mind.....I am now pushing for 4 nights in Hawaii (on Kauai) and then going on the TA in May. ;)

Hmmm, four days is so short after traveling so far. Kaua'i is my fave island to visit though. But being able to do both would be awesome! I can give you recs if you want!

Oy! Wow, that is gnarly! Glad you finally are sand-free!

I always tell men with kidney stones that it is their version of childbirth!

Definitely worth looking into. We will email ahead and have a specific time set up since arriving via cruise ship versus an airplane that commonly has delays. We also made a note on our reservation. We only had four of us last time (and one was 15 months old) so it was easier to find a hotel room since one was under 2. This time the kiddos are older (ages 2 and 6 at time of checkin) and we have mother-in-law with us. We knew we liked the area we were in last time. Breakfast outdoors under the trees. Heck, tapas outdoors too. :) So we focused our search on the same general area.

Aren't those amazing! We've had 2-3 of those done too.

Oooooh --- that was our favorite island as well! We spent almost three weeks there one June and a week of that was on Kaua'i. In fact, my birthday. :)

Yikes, that sounds like absolutely NO fun! Also, welcome, I noticed this was your first post :)
