We are driving down from DC so its only about 12 hours :) we usually do the drive through the night, play at the resort during the day while we adults "recover" from the drive and then go into vacation mode. This will be a bit different doing a daytime drive but nonetheless the kids understand that we are lucky to be going at all.
Frustrating, he was scheduled on the 2pm, that was cancelled and he was rescheduled for the 7pm which he told them no put me on the 445 - so they did and the 445 was the one that met fate with the de-ice truck and by the time they deplaned, the 7 was over sold and the only one to take off...someone up above did not want us driving tonight! ill take that as my sign :thumbsup2
Now, I cancelled dinner at Captains Grill - leaves me with a ts credit -
any suggestions my BC/YC friends??

Everything happens for a reason, you just weren't meant to be there early. Tommorow night you will be sleeping at Disney- Let the vacation begin!!!!

It is chilly and icy here in North Carolina tonight so I thought I'd think warm thoughts by posting a quick review of our BC CL stay. This was my 4th stay at BC, 3rd CL so I knew what to expect. We were greeted on arrival and escorted to the 5th floor. I love sitting down and being offered a beverage while I check in. The kids went straight into the lounge for the hot evening appetizers which included bacon wrapped scallops and seared tuna that night. As I mentioned earlier, we were upgraded to a water view room (5687) but that was never mentioned to us when we checked in. Our room was very quiet. We did hear some quiet elevator humming- not sure where it came from as we didn't see any elevator nearby. When I walked to the lounge, I realized that I was glad we were not in the first span of hallway off the lounge as I think this could be noisy in the mornings.

We ate in the lounge for breakfast the first three mornings. I had an easy but lasting breakfast of hard boiled egg and a hot mocha. DD13 loves the oatmeal and croissants. DS9 fell in love with the danish. One morning he was bummed that there weren't fruit filled danish but then was in heaven when he had the coconut! The last morning we ate at Captain's Grille but still went to the lounge to grab some pastry first!

Throughout our stay, we enjoyed bottled Evian in our room, sodas, wine (I preferred the pinot to the merlot), and evening liquor. I think DH was in heaven when he was able to grab a couple of beers for the room during Sunday afternoon football.

Saturday evening we ate at Flying Fish and loved it. We enjoyed walking around the Boardwalk and really enjoyed the art gallery. We came back to our room and DD started feeling off. Unfortunately, she threw up. I headed to the shop to get her something to settle her stomach. The lounge was just closing but I grabbed a can of ginger ale and asked the concierge who was packing up if they might have anything. They handed me some antacid tablets. I asked if I could just leave them with the ginger ale on the desk while I went downstairs. When I came back up, my items were there along with a few Mickey stickers which I thought was sweet. DD fell asleep but threw up again at 1am. Thankfully, she woke up and was perfectly fine the rest of the trip. Not sure if she had a bad mussel at dinner, has some sort of digestive allergy to mussels or something else, or what...that was her only symptom.

Our final evening we returned to the lounge directly after Wishes. (I thought it impressive that we were back in the lounge before 9pm after 8pm fireworks!) We played Stitch Trouble and had a few sweets. It was so fun, like being at home but better.

We had very good experiences with the MK buses and the boat back to BC from HS (we walked there even though my daughter was sick the night before- we were way ahead of the boat).

BC is the perfect hotel for my family (although I wish it would be a bit cheaper even with an AP discount)! Can't wait to return!

Sending good thoughts your way, AlMinVa!!

Thanks to everyone for the travel insurance info! I think I'll take your advice and call Allianz to see what they can do for us. We are still over 4 months out, but I've never planned (or taken) a long vacation like this before, so I'd like to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I really appreciate all the suggestions!

Can you fit 4 adults on the carriage ride? How far in advance can you make the reservations? Love to do this after Hoop DeeDoo

Only four fannies can fit in the carriage. If you have teens you can tempt them with the arcade at the Contemporary to get down to the maximum number.

Thanks for posting your trip review :thumbsup2 Club Level really is like having the comforts of home, with out the mess in the kitchen, while on vacation.

ALMintraveltrouble, I hope it works out for you. I am keeping my eyes crossed that you make it with out too much more difficulty but I am getting tired of banging into things so I may have to find a better way to root for your success.

Speaking of keeping your eyes crossed, when you look at that address (Yacht.Beach.Club.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.co m; ) with your eyes crossed the space doesn't look so h u g e

(you'd think somebody would fix it! ;) )

From the first page of this thread (the club level post).

Try this:

Yacht.Beach.Club.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.com;

Don't ask about the space. Don't ask about the space.

:rotfl:That really big,gianormous space!!:rotfl:

Deer Mrs natebenma..Please tell us:rotfl2:..Why is there a space between the OH and MMMM?
:rotfl2::lmao:
Well, they off loaded the plane, pilot said he has never heard of such a thing or been involved in such a mess. The next flight is over sold so he won't be home until first flight out tomorrow. He could drive but i don't want him to be exhausted, it would be terribly selfish and dangerous.
Looks like I have to cancel our reservations for dinner at Captains Grill since we won't be able to leave until he gets home. Maybe Hurricane Hannahs for dinner...
Two sad children tonight but the bright side is we will be sleeping at YC tomorrow!!
Sorry for your travel troubles. Hopefully you are well on your way as I type this:goodvibes
AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!

I tried to fix the space again tonight.

It.just.won't.go. away!

:headache:

:furious:

Ok Dee I'm sorry but Janet's, Ninjamom's and everyone elses "space" comments have me laughing out loud this morning:rotfl2: Sorry it's driving you nuts but life just wouldn't be the same without "THAT SPACE":lmao:

Good Morning,
So I woke up at 2 - because it is Disney Day! And I just couldn't sleep. By 3am we found out that DH's 6am flight was CANCELLED :worried: we scrambled and this time booked him on a flight into Reagan instead of Dulles leaving at 6:15. GOD WILLING, he is on the plane right now and the door has closed. PLEASE GET IN THE AIR :worship:
Kids are still asleep - I have been on the phone now with Alamo (we always rent a car to drive down using Dh's airline miles so that we don't put the wear and tear on our cars) to try and move the reservation from dulles to reagan and they won't help me because it is a prepaid reservation through the airline and guess what? the airline award travel department is not open until 8am central time. :scared1: So the best they could do was tell me to have DH go talk to the manager at alamo in reagan because he is technically in their system and paid so they should be able to work with him...
oh the drama - thankfully the drama is happening NOW and not when we arrive in my beloved DW.
this would be some heck of a TR :)

pixiedust: to you and your family!!!

Can you please send GALLONS of that?
He NEVER got in the air!!! They went back to the gate; Security breach - was swarmed by agents who took 3 guys off the flight - then they all had to deplane and the plane is being combed over by bomb sniffing dogs.
YOU SERIOUSLY CANT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!!!!!

We just want him home safe and sound...:scared:

Thank you! The kids are being so great - they are making breakfast and staying positive and just wanting their Dad to be safe. I talked to the manager at Alamo at Reagan and she was so wonderful and is going to switch the reservation for us. So there's pixie dust!

DH just called, he is back on the plane and they are pushing back AGAIN. I won't breath a sigh of relief until he is airborne.

Bright side - I get to meet Teena tomorrow :cool1:

Just focus on how happy you will be when you're all together again and in your rental and on your way to Disney later today!!!! (And be glad you're not flying down...) :goodvibes
