I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for travel insurance. I'm thinking we should probably have it since this is going to be a rather big trip! Thanks! (If this isn't the right place to ask, just point me in the right direction:) )

My family uses Allianz Travel Insurance- used to be Access America. We used to purchase through our local AAA but now we just get a quote and purchase it online.

We have never had to put in a claim, thankfully, but a couple hundred bucks is worth having the security for us.

Who have others used?

Every once and awhile I see a thread about travel insurance- maybe on the Theme Park boards or in Transportation. You can do a search if you want a few more names.

Woke up to 10 degree weather and snow this morning. 217 more days until our trip. It feels like forever.

I know in a few hours when I'm at the office looking at my goals for 2013, I'll be thinking, "Oh no! January is nearly gone! Time's going too fast!"

But not this morning . . .

We also use Allianz. I have heard that if you buy Disney insurance that is who they use as well, only theirs is quite a bit more expensive. I have never had to use Allianz personally but children are free on the plan which is nice. They also have always been quick about sending me my paperwork. I checked a lot of reviews online and, unfortunately, most insurance places have mixed reviews at best. I ended up going with Allianz because it had the most positive reviews out of all of them, because Disney also uses them (figure there must be a reason for that), because Mousesavers recommends them, and also their prices are competitive. Good luck OP!

10 degrees sounds nice. Lol. You must live close to us. Woke up this morning and went to the weather channel. It said 7 degrees outside...but feels like -1. :crazy2: Going to be another lovely day at the bus stop!!

Also, someone really needs to bust down the barriers at Hurricane Hannah's and try that lobster and shrimp roll. I don't know which is worse, the pictures of those club level homemade chips or the thought of that lobster shrimp roll!

Don't worry about the foreign tour groups, or the killer bees, or the snakes on the plane. You all are going to have a great trip!

Have fun everyone about to leave. Raining and cold here...freezing rain to be specific :rolleyes2:....so jealous!

It's been a while since I posted or even have been on the Dis. :wave2: We left for our vacation in December and I haven't posted since. Our trip in December was our worst vacation. Less than 24 hours after we arrived, our DD caught the stomach bug and was quite ill. Every family member was ill at some point, and I stayed in the room with the sick people.

Oh no! That happened to us one time, too. I felt "off" and sick one day but dragged myself through it and DD came down the next day with the GI bug. We had a river view at POFQ - and we will forever remember the sound of the boat horns coming and going as we heard them non-stop all day long. We managed after that one day to drag ourselves along for the rest of the trip but barely ate anything and still felt kinda "funny."

I say this means you need a make-up disney trip ASAP! lol I heard there's a nice 30% discount going around. lol ;)

Thanks for the quick responses about travel insurance!! I definitely think we should get it. One more quick question! We put our deposit down almost 2 weeks ago... Is there a certain time frame we need to purchase the insurance?

I don't think so- I have waited a few months from booking to purchasing the insurance for a trip. The only issue, I think, is if you filed a claim resulting from something that happened between your booking time and the time you purchased the insurance ("pre-existing condition")

Definitely check out the Christmas lights that the folks staying at Fort Wilderness Camp Grounds decorate their spots with. We planned a dinner in the area (this time it was Kona) and then we took the boats to get to FWCG. We booked a carriage ride but you can easily walk around to see these magnificent lights.

Can you fit 4 adults on the carriage ride? How far in advance can you make the reservations? Love to do this after Hoop DeeDoo

We must have very similar or same travel dates.... Our countdowns match up! We will be at WDW Sept 1-13 (at CR 1-8 then over to YC for 8-13)

Maybe we'll see you there :wave2:

We had Allianz for the trip we had planned for this past December. They were great. We had to cancel our trip because we had lost the whole first floor of our home during Hurricane Sandy. They were very understanding and refunded us our flight money. We rebooked our vacation for May and are staying at the BC. I would highly recommend getting the trip insurance through them.

so school is closing 2 hours early AND....ready for it.... DH's flight from Toronto was CANCELLED :faint::faint::faint:
He is rebooked on the next one but if that gets cancelled to, he said he will rent a car and DRIVE back - oh he DOES love DISNEY or he loves me! Whichever, Ill take it!! He is determined to get me to my beloved DW!!!!:worship::worship::worship:

I just made the official switcharoo from the GF. I kept hoping the courtyard pool would be done in time at the GF but it is definitly a no go now, I am bummed because I do love the GF but excited to try a new resort.

We will be at the yacht club 2/20-3/1. My first silly question is, where is the closest place to get mac and cheese. My DDs are big mac and cheese eaters. Big thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome when I was thinking about switching a couple weeks ago, you guys are great!

Good choice I liked yc better than gf. I like the bedding better at yc and the walking ti Epcot and hs. Kouzzina has MSC and cheese on the kids menu. Great restaurant

You can get mickey waffles and pancakes through room service, right? That is one of the big things I was hesitant about is the lack of mickey waffles, LOL.

Hello BC/YC fans!

Thanks so much for all the well wishes as we get ready to leave for WDW tomorrow! :)

ALMinVA, good luck and I hope it all works out!!!

Welcome!!! Picabu at the Dolphin is just next door to YC and has mac and cheese on the kids' menu!

This is a little old, but I don't think the room service menus have changed recently:

Survey says... Yes! You can get Mickey Waffles from room service (but they ain't cheap). I think I have a link to inroom dining on the first page of this thread, towards the end of the Dining Post
