Sharli & Shane's Wishes Wedding 12/1/13 WP/GF

Just caught up with your PJ... You Engagement photos are so romantic.. I absolutely love the Carriage shot!:goodvibes

:wave2: Hi everyone! Whew! I finally caught up with everyone's PJs!! I tell you, the holidays really got me behind. I will be updating with wedding stuff a little later tonight. But since I was on right now, and I was commenting on other PJs, I figured I'd respond to some of the comments on mine too! :thumbsup2

LOVE the ephotos!! Gorgeous setting-plus I love your dress and heels!!! Congrats on getting your date....Can't wait to hear more!

Thank you! We went to the Dallas Arboretum earlier in the year and they had the Chihuly glass exhibit up. After DF proposed, we knew we had to take our photos there! I love Chihuly glass, it's so beautiful! That's one of my favorite dresses and, even though it can register "Americana" or "Nautical", I love pairing the red shoes and cardigan with it.

Just joining! I love your engagement story-- it reminds me of mine lol I was sick, lying on the couch eating ice cream when my fiancé proposed! I was a little disappointed that I looked like crap at first, but now I think it's sweet :)

Love your engagement photos!

Thank you! Ya know, at first I was a little embarassed that I was in my PJs, but now I think it's just a funny little thing that is very telling of who I am, and it makes for a tad bit more interesting story....makes it ours.

Hi! Just letting you know I'll be following along. I loooove all of your plans so far! Your engagement photos were really beautiful and what an awesome location! I love your multi-color palette and you definitely seem to have the good taste you need to pull it off! I'm excited to see the rest of your plans!

Oh, and have fun doing your secrety thing tonight! :goodvibes

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to our planning session and getting to have fun with all the color. When it came right down to it, I just couldn't pick one color....I had to have them all! Another telling aspect of my personality. LOL

Just caught up with your PJ... You Engagement photos are so romantic.. I absolutely love the Carriage shot!:goodvibes

The carriage shot was an m.u.s.t. We had a very small window of opportunity to get our photos taken while the Chihuly glass exhibit and the Fall Pumpkin and Gourd Festival were both there....or we thought we only had a small window. They ended up keeping the Chihuly exhibit for several more weeks. Had I known, I would have waited for a cooler day!

Hope you had fun on your secret date! Where did you guys go?

We did!! DF took me to the Chinese Lantern Festival. It was amazing! I posted several pictures on my Facebook page (if you'd like to look me up, feel free, just search my first name), but I will post a few of my favorites here too. ::yes::

Ugh, I feel like I havent been on the dis in a while and totally out of touch with PJs!
Anywho, I am so glad you got some save the dates and, honestly, i wouldnt worry about the size too much. I would say to redo them if you didnt like the size if it were the actual invite!
Also, i am glad you got you date and were assigned a planner now. That means that time will start flying now because you have to make some concrete decisions :)

cant wait to read more!
Happy planning!:goodvibes

Ok, I'm back to do a wedding update and post some pictures from the Chinese Lantern Festival.

First up, wedding stuff.... :bride: Ok, well, we're still working on the planning kit, so no news there.

I cancelled the first order for the Save the Dates and ordered from a different company altogether. I just couldn't stand all the older people in my family trying to read the tiny little print on a small magnet. So, I found some that were bigger. I was slightly worried because when I was personalizing them the pictures looked blurry. I emailed customer support and was assured they would come out crisp.

Well, we got them yesterday!! :cheer2: Which was a surprise considering I just ordered them (less than 2 weeks). Soooo, here they are.....

005640x360_zps745741d8.jpg

I also bought labels with our address on them, so I don't have to hand write them. FSIL is creating custom address labels, my design, AND she's going to type in all the addresses for me! All I have to do is print them and stick them on!! How did I get so lucky!?!

I have ordered the custom hoodies for my MsOH. I heard from Lisa today, she brought my hoodie design to life. She is a vendor on Etsy, here is a link to her shop......http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lisascrystaltreasure?ref=seller_info She does fabulous work! I'll post a picture of the hoodies when I get them, she said sometime next week!!

I will also be ordering personalized hangers for them, probably at the end of the month.

Oh! The big news is we scheduled our Planning Session! We're going to do things a little differently than most. This will be DF's first time to go, not just to WDW, but to the east coast entirely. He is so cute and wants to wait until after our wedding to actually go to the parks. So, we will fly in early, drive to the beach, probably Cocoa Beach. DF must put at least his toe in the ocean and since he's never been to the east coast, well....and then to the NASA Space Museum. We'll drive to WDW and stay for one night.

We'll have the planning session the morning of May 24th and then we will drive back to Orlando, check into another hotel, and then we're off to Universal Studios. That is where we will spend the rest of the weekend. We'll fly back on Monday, Memorial Day. I'm really excited!!

I think that's pretty much all for now....Oh, I do have one more update. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but I'm two classes away from my Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising. Well, I signed up for Accounting 2, class starts on Monday! :yay: Hopefully, I'll pass with at least a C this time around. My next goal, after I complete this degree, will be to look into a second Bachelor's in Art History. I just love it!

Up next, pictures of the Chinese Lantern Festival.

Well, the camera battery died after that....but, like I said, there are more on my Facebook page. So, that's it! Hope you all enjoy! :)

I love the pictures of the Chinese lanterns. They were so beautiful. I sent you (at least I hope it was you) a Facebook request to see more. I love the save the dates :)

Hmm, I don't have any friend requests on my page. Search "Sharli K" or I am also in the DISbrides group too, you can go to the members page and find me that way. :)

Ahh, the Facebook page won't let me add you, just message you so I did. It probably is in the other folder in your messages. I'm glad you picked your songs. What did you go with??

Ahh, the Facebook page won't let me add you, just message you so I did.

I just sent you a PM. :)

I'm glad you picked your songs. What did you go with??

Ok, I will share. Beware, some of our songs may be a little unconventional and I will probably have to supply a cd or my ipod to Disney for the ceremony. I will be getting my brother to edit the songs for time and I know we are one song over the limit, but have agreed on the song most likely to be removed if necessary.

So here it is....let me know what you think!

Seating: (this is where our extra song is)
November Rain – Instrumental (in the style of Guns ‘N’ Roses) Ok, to cut
Pictures of You – The Cure (I know the lyrics are depressing, but I love, love, love The Cure. My all time favorite band. And the music is so pretty in this one, very romantic.)
Everlong (Acoustic version) – Foo Fighters
Free Falling (Instrumental) - original artist Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Wonderwall (Instrumental) - Oasis
Drops of Jupiter (Instrumental) - Train

Mothers’ Entrance:
Clair de Lune (I know it seems out of place, but this was my grandmother's favorite song, so it only seems appropriate to have my mom walk down to this one.)

Minister/Groomsmen/Groom Entrance:
Walk the Plank – Disney (POTC soundtrack) (I knew I liked the idea of having DF and the guys walk in to something from POTC, but when I saw the name of this song, I knew it had to be. I love the idea of our guests getting a chuckle when they see it in the program!) :rotfl2:

MsOH/Flower Girl Entrance:
Bella’s Lullaby (Twilight soundtrack)

Bride’s Entrance:
Bitter Sweet Symphony (Instrumental) – The Verve

Sand Ceremony:
Sea Breeze (No pun intended) – Tyrone Wells (if you don't know Tyrone, you should definitely look him up!)

Recessional:
Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee – Beethoven
When I’m Sixty-Four – The Beatles

We chose mainly "rock and roll" songs because we have almost completely decided to add in a rock theme. Since his dad and brother are both musicians and my brother is a dj we thought it would be a nice nod to them. I say rock, but really we're not talking Metallica here. I listen to a very large variety of music and so does DF, so it's a pretty natural progression for us to have some unconventional music for the ceremony. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that I'm probably not the first person to use these songs in a wedding, but they were probably not used for the ceremony.

Anyway, I am making a necklace for myself and was toying with the idea of using a charm from one of my other necklaces. It's a guitar that is attached to the clasp of the necklace and hangs down the back. I will take a picture and post for more clarity. After I thought about doing this, I started thinking about adding other "rock" touches, incorporating rock music and subtle music/rock details. I haven't worked out all the kinks of having a music/rock theme with the multi-color, but I'm sure it will come to me and work itself out. Either way, I love the playlist and won't be changing that even if I decide to forgo the music/rock theme. :thumbsup2

I like the somewhat unconventional songs for a wedding. DF and I know that most of our songs are going to be Bon Jovi songs (Jersey girl here!). I like that Claire de Lune has special meaning :). Also, love Bella's lullaby...big Twilight fan, too.

Hi everyone!! This will be a pretty long update....picture heavy.

I've caught up, mostly, on everyone's PJs. Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, there really wasn't much to say until about 2 weeks ago. Then everything got a little busy. Keeping up with my accounting class isn't too difficult.....so far. LOL Work is starting to get busy again. We've been trying to get all the save the dates out, which has been a little crazy because some of the addresses we had were incorrect. It's ok though, we got them all straightened out and sent off!!

I mentioned in a post on someone else's thread that we've lost our flower girl. It's a little upsetting, but I understand. Hopefully, this is easy to follow. DF's sister told him that her husband isn't able to get off work for the wedding. The way it was explained to me was that, he has the least seniority at his job, and when the vacation request sheet came around to him, the dates were already taken and he will have to be on-call. Which means he may not even work. SO, DF's sister said that she doesn't want to take a family vacation without him. Since her daughter was supposed to be our flower girl, well, that means I'm left without one. I thought about asking another family member, we have a few other little girls, but since I'm not sure who is actually coming yet, I will just say we aren't having one.

DF's sister will still be at the wedding, but she will not be bringing her husband or kids and she will be staying with their parents. Which means (as I said in the other thread) we are losing at least 3 room nights. This frustrates me because I'm getting really nervous about being able to fulfill the room night obligation. I will have to play Scarlett with this one though and think about it another day.

On to the fun stuff!! We completed as much as we could of the planning kit and sent it back. I have done everything but order the invitations. We have a friend who has offered to pay for them as a gift and so I'm just waiting for her to give me payment information so I can send back my "homework" for them. I'm super excited as they are exactly what I wanted and came out even better than I could have imagined. Here is a picture of the invitation we will be using, if you "Like" Impressions' Facebook page, you may have seen them already. I love Shelley's work! She and Amanda have been amazing to work with. This is the picture she sent me so I could see it for the first time!!

invitation_zpsaf9d3383.jpg

It's really hard to see, but the pixie dust is multi-colored! I really couldn't be happier with them.

Next I have a few random items that we picked up from Hobby Lobby on sale.

Our card box. Yes, I probably could have made one, and I'm sure this same one is being used at 4654646584768768476 other weddings this year, but I'm just really nervous about making stuff like this because I never get the result I want. AND I couldn't beat 50% off.

Our cake knife and server....again, 50% off...

weddingstuff021360x640_zpsf7254bb9.jpg

I mentioned in my last post that I was making my own necklace so here is a picture of the guitar I want to attach, ideally it would hang down my back, but I must have been thinking of a different necklace (I have two, but don't want to take the piece from the other necklace), so in addition, there is a picture of the word "Lucky" which would be super easy to attach since it has a clasp to do that....I'll decide later what exactly I want to do.

Here is (sort of) what the necklace will look like when I'm done...though this picture just shows all the chains layered.

photo480x640_zps2755abc9.jpg

Here is what I have so far....let's just say I have a lot of work to do. :lmao:

weddingstuff005360x640_zps7fb8429e.jpg

I ordered a bracelet for myself from a store on Etsy (I'll have to get the link later). The girl was super fast, my only issue is that the ribbon I ordered was darker than I wanted, so I had to change it. I don't have a picture of the original ribbon, but it was more maroon than the pink I thought I was getting. Here it is after I switched out the ribbon:

weddingstuff003640x360_zpsfbd5fff1.jpg

And now, here are the MsOH gifts! I'm really excited to show everyone and can't wait to give these to the girls. First are the hangers I had made. Again, I bought these from Etsy, WhiteDiamondAffairs. They were super fast and got the hangers to me well before I said I needed them! She even customized them with a color that wasn't listed on the site. The color of ribbon on the top of the hanger is the color each girl picked for their sash and the color of the bow on Minnie is the color of the dresses.

Mine (the picture is a little blurry):

Ginger's:

Edna's:

And finally! My favorite piece so far.....the hoodies I custom designed and had made for us. They were made by Lisa on Etsy, I have posted a link before, but here it is again. http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lisascrysta...ef=seller_info#sthash.8Kph3gjc.dpuf She is fantastic to work with and I really can't say enough about her work. The front is the same concept as the bows on the top of the hanger, it indicates the color each girl's sash will be on their dress. The back I wanted to put something they would wear again that didn't scream "I was in a wedding!". Also, none of us are overly girly, so this works perfectly while still incorporating the multi-color theme. They're taken at different angles, but you get the idea.

Alright, I think that's about it! Let me know what you think about everything! TTFN!! :tigger:

I love all your updates! The rock'n roll theme is very cool. I love your Save the Dates and invitations - those are going to be so beautiful! The hoodies are so awesome, and the hangers turned out fabulously! The necklace is looking fabulous too, it's going to make such a great statement piece!

Just reading up on your PJ! I love the look of your invitation, it looks awesome! Loving all the details you have already got done!

I'm sorry about the FG and loss of rooms toward your block. Maybe I could convince DF to come stalk your wedding and take up a room for you (haha!). I love Impressions invites. They are so beautiful and I am so jealous that you are getting them. I only need ten invites, so really it's not cost effective but I can't wait to see yours all completed! I love those hangers and the color coordinating ribbons...and those shirts are awesome! I bookmarked both of those etsy sites. Your necklace is going to look amazing! I honestly think the premade card box is a good idea. I would be afraid to have this amazing custom one and then have to worry about it being damaged with the travel to Florida.

Hi everyone!!

Work and school have been a little crazy. I've also been scheduling appointments for dress shopping and trying desperately to make sure my girls get their dresses. I will have to go this week to get dresses for the girls, I'm getting worried about the store not having the right sizes for them. I have my very first appointment to look for my dress at the end of the month.

Thank you! I've done more work on the necklace, so I'll need to post an updated picture later.

I've come to terms with losing my flower girl and not having one at all. At the end of the day, it's going to save us money and I think we're ok with that. I will let you know if I need help filling my room block. LOL

Glad you bookmarked the etsy sites, they were both really easy to work with and I really can't say enough great things about Lisa. She's the best.

This turned out AMAZING!!! Do you love it? I love it!!!

Thank you! It's a little odd, but I'm really not sure if I'm as totally in love with it as I thought I would be. It seems....not as loose, or something, as I'd imagined it. But it will grow on me. I have two more things small things to add, I can't believe I'd forgotten them. :upsidedow And I may try to loosen up some of the strands a bit. I'll take another picture after I add the missing pieces.

What makes me really nervous is the weight. I'm praying that the clasp doesn't give out on me before the end of the wedding day. After that it will go in a shadow box along with some other wedding stuff so I can display it.
