Who is going to be in the WORLD for MARDI GRAS?

Sorry can't seem to type today and haven't figured the Dis phone app out yet so I don't know how to edit.

It should have said When do you consider it Mardi Gras?
Mardi Gras season officially begins on 12th night. Twelfth Night is twelve nights after Christmas when the Magi arrived to visit the baby Jesus. Mardi Gras day is the day before Ash Wednesday when Lent begins. Mardi Gras day this year is Tuesday February 12th.

New Yorker here arriving on the 13th of Feb...we were hoping to have the parks to ourselves for a few days before the Presidents week madness, but it looks like the entire state of Louisiana is going to Disney. Many east-coasters don't have the full Presidents week this year, so maybe it won't be as crowded as I expect. I don't have any New Orleans gear, so we will continue to represent the Steeler Nation! :worship:

RonNic - we are from St Bernard but now we live in Pearl River since Katrina.

We'll be there Feb. 10-15 and we also live in Pearl River :thumbsup2...small world....we'll be sporting our tye dye mickey shirts as well. I wish I knew how to post a picture of them

WOW- I would like thank all of you who have posted on my thread.

Keep them coming.

I hope to run into each and everyone of you in the parks. Please say hi.

We are so ready for a Mardi Gras celebration at WDW!!!Feb 9th through 15th

Roll Tide!
We'll be @ BWV for DH's 50th b'day on Fat Tuesday.
Gonna try to ride at all 4 parks to mark the occassion.
We'll bring the Moonpies.

If you're looking for Mardi Gras celebrations, Universal has a neat lights parade complete with bead throwing. And a food fest. It's quite fun.

For Mardi Gras in the Orlando theme parks I agree it's all about Universal, the event is only held in select weekend dates from Feb 9th through April 20th but it has one of the most entertaining parades at any park, food and New Orleans bands playing in the streets with a concert after the parade.I think over the years I've literally caught 50 pounds of beads in the parade.

I would love to be there at mardi gras. I'm trying to convince hubby that its a good idea since kids are out of school. But of course since today is our last day in the WORLD before we head back to Louisiana I'm not sure he will go for it. But we do have annual passes so what's the problem right?

Sissy1 - we live in Sawmill Creek.

Hi KBuck and sissy1 from your neighbor in Slidell!:wave2: Not going this year but probably next year. We have done 2 previous MG trips though, one in the middle of Feb (super weather, low crowds, a bit chilly at nights) and one at the beginning of March (better weather, more crowds due to colleges in the North on Spring Break already and the beginning of Flower and Garden Fest but still manageable). Neither was President Week cause I have heard its crazy when MG and PW are the same time!

Hope you guys have a wonderful trip!

I'm hoping for fabulous weather. President's Day falls the following week so I think we should be fine up until Thursday when folks might arrive for a long week.

Everyone I talk to seems to be heading to Disney for Mardi Gras so watch out for the Louisiana invasion! !

DH and i are doing two days in daytona before our stay at cbr feb 8-16. My first trip in 20 years. I'll be celebrating my birthday during mardi gras week. We'll be in steelers and penguins gear, adding to the saints' black and gold :thumbsup2

We went last year in Feb., solo, just DH & me. Had a great time and the weather was wonderful. Went back second week of Dec. and the crowds were even better than they were in Feb. I plan to make the Dec. trip an annual trip :thumbsup2. Going back again for F&W, our first time doing F&W...really looking forward to it :cool1:
