Just a quick update. We check out today & move over to AoA. We did go to the front desk to speak with the manager. We had our list of things that were out of order & pictures to back it up. We relayed everything that happened & he was very apologetic & offered us all kinds of things to make us happy. Changing rooms was never an option. They are fully booked. Anyway, the only compensation I wanted was an apology, items fixed & a promise that the appropriate people will be spoken to about the condition of our room. They did give us the points back for the one night we were up until 2:30am with maintenance. They also paid for our dinner on Xmas eve. That was above & beyond what I wanted or expected. When we came back from dinner they had placed in our room 2 pails filled with treats for our kids & a Wilderness Lodge chocolate. Xmas morning the head of housekeeping came to our room & I was able to have a nice long talk with her & even show her some of the issues we had. Again she was very apologetic & a really sweet lady. I felt really good after she left. She really cared & wants her housekeepers to do the right job! She never made excuses for them. She said the room should be clean period! She couldn't believe the dust all over the vent! Anyway I'm glad they seem willing to make sure another guest doesn't have to go through what we did.

Would we stay here again? Probably not until they have a full refurb of the villas which should be another 3 years from now. The Wilderness Lodge does have a lot of good things going for it, especially at Xmas. It is beautiful. But it does need a lot of work in a lot of areas.

We are booked at POFQ, but if a discount comes out we would more than likely switch to Animal Kingdom or WL. I'm wondering if WL ever offer's 35% off the room rate? (We will be there in Oct). I saw for Jan-Mar the discount for Deluxe resorts is 35% but for WL it's 25%. Is that typical?

Hello

Can anyone post any pics of the Club Level area, it doesn't look very big from the few pics I have seen, how many tables are there to sit at?
Is there a tv area like at the other resorts, is the area where the food is served very large? Is it the whole 7th floor or just a small section?

thanks

Hi,
There are no tables inside but all around the 7th floor yes.
The entire 7th floor is CL. There is a TV where you can sit and
Watch TV. Hope that helps.

WDWKook- they closed MK at 10 am on Christmas Day... :)

Just stayed CL a few weeks ago. Sorry no good pictures. The area is very large so hard to get it all in one shot! I thought there were plenty of tables. We never had trouble finding one even during busy times. The tables/sitting areas go all around the railing overlooking the balcony which is really pretty. There are also tables by large windows that overlook the courtyard and bay lake. Really liked sitting by these. Yes there is a tv area. The food is in a separate room right by the elevator/cm podiums. There are 2 entrance/exits to it. It isn't a gigantic area but I thought the setup was great in terms of people flow. The overall lounge I thought was very large. This is our only CL experience but I thought the setup was great and very comfortable. I think my DH is now hooked so if will be hard not to book it again on future trips!

Thanks for sharing this photo!!! Both times I stayed here I was in the courtyard floors 3 and 4 right in these rooms! I needed a pick me up today as I look out at all this snow

I think this is probably no surprise, but I had switched my ressie to WL CL for 4/18-4/28!!! :dance3:

The family is really not interested in trying out a new resort since WL really does feel like home...:goodvibes

Just a question about bunk bed rooms-

I have just booked a woods view bunk bed room for my son and his family and a woods view room for myself and the other grandma. Does anyone know if the bunk bed rooms connect with the regular bed room or can you get a bunk bed room next to a regular room?

Not so unusual for Christmas week. It will happen every day, maybe even a few times during the day. Just wait until NYEve.

The recent posting about a very negative experience in the villas has me needing some input from others who have stayed there recently. If I had walked into a smelly room, I don't think I would have stayed there, no matter the view or location. I am hoping that when we go this summer the WL and villas will not be sold out, and if this were to happen we would be able to work out an alternative. I don't care if the carpet and furnishings are a little worn, but I do care very much about cleanliness, supportive mattress (for my back) and having everything in working order. So, please, if you have stayed there recently, or have plans to go in the next couple of months and can report back afterwards, I could really use some encouraging words about staying there! Booking 2 rooms in the lodge would be my 2nd choice because I am really looking forward to having all that space (2 BR villa), the kitchen, and the washer/dryer. Awaiting good news!

I read that negative review, too. You may find a little more information in the DVC forum. Here is a thread that might give you some information. Although, since it is called "groupies" there may be some bias. ;)
VWL Groupies...yes, we love the Lodge!!

We were just at the villas in Sept and had no issues with the room. But we were in a studio. To be honest, I see a lot of people complain about the cleanliness if DVC and I have never had that experience.

I'm guessing you are referring to my review. Please know that just because I had the experience I did doesn't mean that you will have that same experience! If you want to try WLV then try it for yourself. You may have a completely different experience. I think what someone posted was probably right that since it was Xmas & so busy they had people in rooms that they wouldn't otherwise. I'm hopeful you will not get a room like we did.

And please don't judge us because of how we handled it. We really had no choice. You also never know what you would do until you are put in a situation like we were. I use to think when I saw a review that complained about a room & think oh I would never stay in a room like that or I would be asked to move right away. Well, until you are faced with the situation we were, there are so many variables that can force you to handle things in a much different way than you thought you would.

FYI this was our first time at the WLV. When we stayed at the WL we had a great room & that was before the rehab!

And also I wanted to add we have only had 1 other dirty DVC room that was in bad need of a rehab in all our trips. That was at OKW right before the rehab.

I am very sorry desnik! I did not mean to imply that you made the wrong choice. I am just extremely sensitive to smells and have bad allergies as well. There was one trip where I almost asked to change rooms at the Polynesian, in spite of a perfect view of the castle, because it smelled a little musty. Luckily I fooled around with the thermostat and discovered a humidity setting, and that solved the problem. So you are right in saying that every situation is different and sometimes just waiting it out and hoping it gets resolved is the right choice. I actually prefer when people post honest reviews. On some Disney sites it seems like everyone has drunk out of the same batch of Kool-Aid! Thanks for posting, and I will hope that we will be lucky when we go, and end up with a well-maintained 2 BR villa! Hope your AoA experience is/was going well!

Thank you & I was just going to come back here & post that I hope my post didn't come off snarky in any way! :-)

We are on our way home now & our AoA room was perfect! Thanks!

There is a WLV thread over on the DVC boards you should check out!

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing Friday of a dear DISer, Jungle Cruiser (Sarah), due to a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was due to arrive tomorrow for a two-week stay at WL/CL. She had a great love for WDW and throughout her illness was always upbeat and an inspiration to us all. A memorial thread has been set up in her honor HERE.

Oh my goodness, I had chatted with her many times over on the BC/YC thread. So sorry to hear this.

Her last stay at WDW was this past summer where she stayed at BC. This would have been her first WL/CL stay. She loved GF and was active on the Resort Changers' thread, though I think she never really changed resorts - she had much more restraint and focus than the rest of us!
