January 2013 car rental

I tried a couple of different ones (AP, DVC, Visa), but I think the Insider code 7015135 was the best (the same price with the AP code). The DVC and Visa were slightly less. Used the $30 coupon AD2338FDF

Update, I just checked minutes ago and now my 10 day rental at Alamo (standard) is down to $186.60 total. (National is still stuck in the $500s)

I got a standard for $186 total for 10 days. Now the same rental is coming in $100 more than what I booked last week. Normally the rates start going down, so was surprised to see them head back up. January is normally my lowest rental of the year, so not too worried (yet). I suspect we won't see too many drops until the beginning of the year. I've still got my fingers crossed for National. I prefer my executive aisle status, and need that rental to get to my annual 40 rental days per year to maintain my executive status. But with a rate of $186 with Alamo vs $500+ with National, it's a nobrainer which one I'm taking. I'm still about 5 weeks away.

I am having trouble booking on the new Alamo website. I can get all the way till the last confirmation page, then I get an error message:

Supplied coupon cannot be validated by the pricing service.

I tried several current coupons, is anyone else having this trouble.

I am having the same problem. Once I enter a coupon, it does not recognize it. When I take it out, the price is still the same, so I dont know if it ever took the discount for the coupon.

Same here. How are you getting the Insiders rate? I log in with my Insiders user name and password and tried to get a minivan quote and the page eternally searches.
Where do you enter the 7015135 Insiders code? I tried where it says enter discount code and it won't accept it. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong that's obvious to others but not me right now. Is the discount code area where I enter the coupon code? Do I have to enter the Insiders code or just by logging into my Insiders account do I get the Insiders rate?

I logged into my Insiders account and used the $30 VISA code AD2338FDF (is this an ecoupon or do I need to print it out?)

I got a rate (including taxes and fees) of $509.41 for a minivan rental, pickup and drop off at Orlando International airport. 01/04/13-01/14/13

Is this higher than what the rest of you have been finding for a minivan in early January?

Thanks to everyone for their help!

I got a standard Suv for $388.00 from January 3-13. I got it using the costco website, and it is with enterprise, picking up up at the airport. Istill hope that I get a lower rate. I have chevked with alamo, national, both at airport and at Disney and prices are higher at this time.

With Budget using travelocity code x474200 and e-coupon MUPZ044 $40 off the total is $432 inc taxes after e-coupon is applied when return minivan.

Don't know if you needed an SUV or not, but Dollar has Premium for that time period using code 76892 for $291-tax included.

Be careful with some of the rates with even the major car rentals. Some you have to pay extra, even if it is a spouse. I've seen up to $10.00 per day with Fox and Dollar. I'm sure that there are others.

Woo-hoo!! Just got our reservation down to $202 for January 25 (7pm) to February 3 (2 pm) for a standard (will choose from full size aisle) with Alamo! :)
I used the Visa $30 off code and the insiders rate. I'm THRILLED will this price. It's less than I've ever paid for this long of a rental. Any more of a discount would just be icing on the cake!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I have a weird question, could turn out to be long..

I am going on a business trip to Orlando Tues Jan 8th and Wed Jan 9th. I prolonged this into a Disney Trip Sat through Monday. I don't need a car until Monday but I don't know how I would get a car Monday?

Does anyone know how much more expensive it is to pick up a car from the Car Care Center and then drop it off at the airport?

Preferably I would like to rent a car Sat through Wed. Does anyone know if I can split the car into payments when I pick up? Since I can only expense Monday through Wednesday I would like to pay for that separately. Does anyone know if that would work??

I don't know the answer to your second question, but as far as your first question, I am renting from MCO and dropping off at SFB (Sanford) and found a good rate. HTH!

My rate just dropped again with Alamo for 01/04-01/13/12, $181 for a Midsize using the Visa coupon #AD2338FDF and Disney AP code 860292. Though I believe the Alamo Insiders gives the same rate.

Using Costco ID 7014627 and e-coupon AD2338FDF for $30 off the total for a standard is $159 inc taxes.

In my experience, picking up at the Car Care Center in January is LESS expensive than pickup and return at the airport.

Thank you for the heads up~!

Just rebooked Alamo FullSize - 9 nights - Jan26-Feb4
Insiders ID and Visa Coupon
$167 all fee's included [down from just under $200 previously]

Still hoping for a similar rate for a mid size SUV but at this point I am happy with going with a Fullsize for this price!!

Hmmm - what do you mean that you booked a standard but will choose from the full size aisle??

Alamo doesn't have a separate standard size aisle at Orlando. If you reserve a standard, you select a full size.
