Seems like lots of people have just returned, can someone tell me if FQ has separate shampoo & conditioner now? I was just reading the POR thread and some have said they do now, so wondering.
The 2 in 1 doesn't work for me, and don't want to have to pack conditioner if I don't have to!
38 days to go :hyper:

46 more days for us. I can't believe it's getting so close! This will be our longest stay at WDW. Feb 1st-9th, 9 wonderful days of Disney, I'mso excited!! =)

Hi..

Spur of the moment adults only trip planned for Jan 14-18. We're staying at POFQ for the first time. I've stayed at Riverside twice, CSR once, all the values (except AoA) and WL. Since it's a last minute thing, we're trying to do it as cheaply as possible, so we are booking Standard View.

I have so mobility issues (no ECV or wheelchair, but I can't really walk very far) so I wanted to request (and yes I know there are no guarantees) a room that is as close as possible to the main building. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm looking forward to staying at POFQ! :)

Just came back last Saturday and they do indeed have the separate shampoo and conditioners....cute little Mickey Ear tops too. But beware if you take them home...the tops pop open easily. :rolleyes1

It did in October. Which surprised me as they have been combos in the past.

I have not used it though...even when staying deluxe I was way underimpressed with the shampoo and conditioner so I don't use any WDW hair care. I have very low maintenance hair and it seemed to dry it out.

We stayed in Building 3 and we were very close. It probably took a minute to get to the food court. Have fun!! We loved POFQ:cool1:

We are arriving to POFQ in 13 days!
But unfortunately, our plane schedule changed, and we know we'll arrive at 10pm! Do you disers say that there is any chance we can be checked in before midnight? Where we can go for something to eat? DTD? Or pick up? Just me, my DH and DD 3 and we are going to use ME.

If your flight arrives at 10pm into MCO, as long as it's not an international landing then yes you could be checked in by midnight. Take your luggage with you on ME though, or you won't get it until the next day.

At midnight your choices for food at the resorts will be a bit limited, so I think it might be best to pick up something at the airport. Pizza is available until midnight for room delivery.

Tks, Andre!
But it will be international, so probably we'd better pick up something at the airport...

I'd suggest allowing a good two hours from landing then, as you'll need to go through US immigration first, which can take a bit longer than domestic US flights. Assuming you have not already landed in the US that is; some routes go via US hub airports, and you will go through immigration at the first place you set foot on US soil - anything after that and you're on internal flights. So yes, getting a bite to eat at the airport might be a good idea.

Just returned from POFQ.....it was WONDERFUL!!!!! I can hardly believe that they granted my 3 room requests (when we stayed DVC, they never got granted lol) it is SO pretty here, I want to go back!!!! it's my new favorite place! I loved the smell of the H2O shampoo and conditioner so much I bought some to use at home once in a while....the little mickey bottles are so stinkin' cute I can't stand it! This is my new fave resort!

I LOVE the H2O products! When my sister and I were there in Oct we asked for extra and they gave us TONS! I keep using them on my post-Disney depression days.

We just got back from POFQ on December 8th. We are campers, so we've always camp at Fort Wilderness in the past. This was our first time to stay somewhere else and I just fell in love with POFQ!! It was just me and DH celebrating our 25th Anniversary, but our Mousekeeper left us the cutest towel love birds one day! We never had any bus issues and the grounds were awesome! We enjoyed relaxing by the pool in the afternoon before heading back out again at night. We were in building 6 in the back by the river. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just returned from our 11-24 to 11-30 at the French Quarter. We were in building 6, room 6112 and it was lovely. We have so many beads and the kids made a wish every day. I loved the Magical Express and the ability to get your boarding passes right at the hotel. We had friends that were offsite and had to go through the entire process at the airport. It took them an extra hour to get to the gate.

It was a great walk along the river to Riverside. The pool was fun for the kids. I preferred the Hot tub especially on the 58 degree evening. The food court was very nice and never too crowded. The decor was creepy for the kids at first but then they had fun with it. We had three meals and all were very good. The muffalleta was delish. And of cours the beignets were awesome.

The rooms were nice. The only downside, there were stains on the chair seats and the bench under the window. OH and the granite threshold from the carpet to the tile is deadly slippery if you are not careful. The only noise I heard from neighboring rooms was the toilet and that was no big deal. I never heard outside activity when we were in our room. The walk to the bus was short. We only shared the bus with Riverside during the afternoon bus to and from Epcot and Downtown Disney. But we were the last ones to get on and the first to get off for EPCOT. We took the boat to DTD and that was okay. Much to long of a wait. But the route is very pretty. OKW Treehouse villas are cool.

We would stay again during the cooler season but I do prefer the Caribean Beach Resort Pool during the warmer seasons.

Thanks for all the information that is on this thread. We will hopefully be visiting WDW in two to three years. If we stay during November again this is definately the resort of choice.

You are SO right about the granite threshold!! Oh my goodness, I about busted it the first time I hit it!!! LOL!

We stayed at POFQ from Dec 8th to the 15th.

Our room was in building 1. Room 1136.

The whole experience was awesome!!!!! the CM's were all helpful and friendly. The doormen were sweet, helpful and funny.

We had a GREAT experiences with the busses from the resort to the parks. Only one time sharing a bus for EPCOT with POR.
We never waited more than a few minutes for a bus from resort. One time we maybe waited 15 minutes for a bus back to the resort from DHS.

One night we were going from Animal Kingdom to the GF for dinner and I was shocked that for a deluxe, how long we waited for a bus...how crowded it was and how many stops they made! It was going to the GF, Poly and CR.
Now, that could be a one time thing....I realize that.

Mouse keeping left us a few towel animals during our stay and our room was always I pristine contrition when we returned from the park.
One day we returned to our room early afternoon for a nap and mouse keeping called us to find out if we wanted them to come later in the day. (We had a do not disturb sign on the door)

The food at the food court was good. Nothing crazy special but ok.

The resort itself is just lovely!! We LOVE all the gardens and the fountains!

It's a small resort so everything is SUPER easy to get to.

And it was so quiet a peaceful there! We barely heard anything at all. It was a super nice getaway from the craziness of the parks.

Overall we loved every minute of being there! Planning on returning next December!

Well Christmas is almost upon us, and for those guests spending a bit of time relaxing away from the parks there will be lots of fun and games at both Port Orleans resorts. As I mentioned previously, there are musical groups entertaining everyone in the lobbies daily in the run-up to the big day, and on Christmas Eve your kids (oh alright, the adults too) can meet with Disney characters at both resorts in the morning, and Santa will be making a special appearance at the RIVERSIDE Lobby in the evening.

For the rest of the regular monthly activities, please see www.portorleans.org/recreation-activites-schedule.php
