Yeah the past two trips were much easier to lack for. I am going to need a second suitcase which is ridiculous for a weekend trip.

I am going to WDW and not even DD can take away that magic ;) Have fun at the mall, I hope you find some great deals!!!!

Friday definitely needs to be a break in the "festivities" otherwise I may end up in a mental institute this weekend instead of WDW ;) What are your plans for the weekend?

Okay, first, WL, woohoo!!!! So glad you finally got that figured out!!!!! Second I totally understand what you have been through with your younger DS. My oldest DS is my easy one too. We knew DS9 had something wrong when he was 3, but of course it is too early diagnose at that age and at 4 a psychologist told us that he was brilliant but in his own world. As the years went on I knew in my heart it was Asperger's Syndrome (on the autism spectrum) and sure enough he finally got that diagnosis when he was 6. DD has always been difficult and I always suspected she had ADHD but her preschool teachers kept telling me no way, well that was just her anxiety keeping her quiet at school. Her first grade teacher knew right away that she had ADHD and I finally felt like I wasn't loosing my mind. We expected the official diagnosis to be ADHD, but we were so lucky to also have her diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and oppositional defiance disorder on top of combined type ADHD!! I swear my life is a swirling world of acronyms, LOL!!!

And OH MY about the funky happenings in your bedroom, EEK!!!!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

For while I thought I was losing my mind. Then one day I watched Oprah, which was odd b/c I usually didn't do it. Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Peete were on it. They were talking about their children that had Autism. Jenny kept saying that a mother knows when something is wrong and to just follow their heart on what they feel is best. My mil (a nurse) had been saying since he was a baby that she thought something was wrong, but my DH blew it off as her being "doom and gloom", which she tends to be. After I saw the Oprah, I called his pedi and asked for the number of a neurologist they suggested. They asked why, said they would talk to the doctor, and call me back. When they did, the doctor said that he refused to give me the name of a neurologist and wanted to try a different medication. I refused and said that if they wouldn't give me the number to one, I would call my insurance and just find one that way. My DH kept telling me I was "grasping at straws", but I said that I would grasp at every straw until I found out what was really going on with him. The DH still didn't believe the diagnosis, until he came to an appt with us and the neurologist did a hyperventilation test on the DS and he had a petite mal seizure big enough for us to notice it.

Our main problem with his learning is that he doesn't put the effort into it, it's not that he doesn't understand or can't do it. He's behind on his reading, but I know he can read way better than he shows the teachers. We've caught him reading things he acts like he can't, when he doesn't think anyone is around. Heck by the first grade, he was talking about DNA, how to collect it, and where to collect it in order to clone someone. Oh, and also the time space continuum. The way he talked about both, he totally understood what he was talking about and not just regurgitating something he had seen on tv.

Mine is GF with SAB and closer parking :lovestruc

I think we can agree then, that one of the ingredients to the perfect WDW is SAB.

My DS11 is having the same kinda year, and we've never had issues...adolescence....ugh :headache:

I'm beginning to think Mark Twain was right about teenagers. He supposedly advised parents that "when a child turns 13, his parents should put him in a barrel, close the lid, and feed him through a hole in the side. Then, when he turns 16, plug up the hole."

It usually is...just sayin....

I hope it is. This is the last WDW trip for us for a while, so I want to make it super special. The DH wants to do some non-Disney things, and I promised we would. I just would love to see the new Fantasyland while it is still new. In 2014, he wants to do a cruise. I want it to be small, so we can save money for a big vacation in 2015. That will be our 20th year wedding anniversary and I want to do something big. Maybe like London/Paris.

Melissa  It's a new day! Hope DD comes to her senses....she's going to WDW after all! and 7 yr olds should LOVE the mouse's house!!! :thumbsup2 Hope her Diva dies and she gets on board with you with some happiness instead of grouchiness! :p Whew, if she's giving you that hard of a time at 7, you've got your hands full for another 12 yrs my friend!!! but we'll be here to help you through it -- to listen and support, that's what friends are for :goodvibes

Wookie: whoever said the terrible twos where the hardest, hadn't obviously hit the teen yrs yet!!! I truly would go back and deal with the little problems of my baby boy before the attitude of my teen boy!! ::yes:: I so understand the hygeine thing too....allthough , thankfully once he got a girlfriend, it got better!! ;) Getting him up and moving in the AM is becoming a little less of a chore this yr. too, I think that's just because he doesn't want to walk in minus 20 degree celcius weather to school, and he knows if he's not up and in the car by 7:30, my work comes first and I'll drive away without him if need be!!! He hasn't tested me yet, so that's good.

YAY! for WL.....that sounds wonderful!!! I think I would like to try staying there one time too.....along with my wish to try BWI still --- It has such a nice feel, and the boat to MK is quaint and a nice option..... I love AKL, so I am sure we'd love the other lodge :)
I think Kidani is still the resort that will fit all our needs in Jan 2015 though....it will be my first non-club trip, but I think adding deluxe dining will help offset me missing my beloved CL!

PAS -- I say YC CL :) I think location is great and your girls love CL as much as I do! :goodvibes I can't imagine not having CL (unless as I stated above I had Deluxe Dining to offset it) ..... but still, I will be pining away without it, I am sooooo a CL gal! :lovestruc
Hope your work goes smoothly over the next few days and you get a much needed break soon!! You are wonder woman, I swear! :goodvibes

Happy Friday to all my RCer friends! I am sooooo glad Friday is finally here!!!

:dance3:

To All The RC Mamas

My heart goes out to all of you .... raising children is the hardest job but also the best and most rewarding. Both DS and DD drove me crazy in their own special ways! :rotfl2: DS was a real challenge in high school. As an example on the night before graduation we all sat by the phone waiting for a call from his English teacher ... my wonderful son needed at least a 95% on his advanced placement English class to pass it and he had to pass it to have enough credits to graduate! Lucky for him it was an oral presentation and he got a grade of 100%. This kid could talk his way through and out of anything!!! He walked off the stage at graduation and up to us and told us now he would get serious about life ... he just wanted to have fun in high school! Bad grades = 2 years at community college, transfer to Cal and then law school at George Washington ... see I told you he could talk!!! :rotfl2:

My point in that story is that there is an end in sight and it's all worth it .... if of course you don't explode first!!! Chin up and carry on all you wonderful RC moms!!! :thumbsup2

I just got back from spending $66 in Target's dollar section. :scared: Well, slightly under $63 with my Red Card discount -- that matters, right? I need one of those collars like they put on dogs whose yards have the Invisible Fence. It needs to zap me every time I get near that overly-enticing part of the store. On second thought, my willpower is so weak and determination to get tchotchkes so strong ... they could set it on stun and it might not stop me. :scratchin

:upsidedow

Jeanette: Yay, glad the conferences went well! :goodvibes Ah, boo to crazy work schedules... you are a saint. :worship:

Wookiee: YEEEEEEAAH for WL! :goodvibes Not-so-yeeeeeah for haunted rooms... :scared: I'm hearing the Twilight Zone theme in my head now.

Candace: I agree about packing the least amount of clothes as possible. This Jan. thing will be a total shock to the system. :confused3 I'm not going to know what to pack.

Melissa: You know how "There's No Crying in Baseball"? ... well "There's No Mental Institutes at Disney." Wine and Disney... or was that Vodka? Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I_Heart: popcorn:: We anxiously await your news. You'll be happy to know that the $66 worth of junk did not include a Reindeer Poop keychain. (I should probably not mention -- but I will anyway -- that during one visit to Vermont, I bought my hubs a magnet of a moose head made out of shellacked moose-poop. :rolleyes1 )

Heya Marie! :wave2: Getting closer to January and your new co-worker!

This took so long to write I'm sure I'll have missed at least a good helping of replies.

OMG. Just spent 20 agonizing minutes chatting with someone from Orbitz to get my Disney confirmation number. Finally she stops throwing random weird numbers at me and gets me a nice 12 digit number beginning with a 4. This is it! My Disney number! Finally. :worship: So what do I do? I say thank you, and then close the chat window before writing down the number. :badpc:

So, long story short....I am going to ask management at work for a raise. ::yes::

I am coming up on my 3 year anniversary with my company, but I have been in this industry for almost 13 years (lots of experience). I took a very large pay cut when I came on board here and still have not made it up 100%. I knew that when I took the job, they didn't pay as well as other companies but the work environment was amazing -- and it is. But, in the past 3 years, they have started to change their philosophy regarding pay and have been bringing people on at significantly more than they used to...resulting in less tenured people making more than me.

My BFF had the cahones to go in and ask for a raise today....a few hours later, they told her that she would be getting a $9k raise starting Monday. :scared1:

I am so bad about this sort of thing, but I have to do it. Because I think as long as you don't say anything, they are not just going to raise your salary, but for those who ask, will receive....

I am going to ask based on my experience, and my performance with the company...which has been excellent...but I am soooooo scared!!!!! I'm going to do it on Dec 14th (my 3rd anniversary)...just building my case...:stir:

Has anybody done this before and can offer tips??? :confused3

Hi RC friends,
What a day. A few hours ago DS called, the college he works at was on lockdown. He was locked in his work area, with other employees and students. I was just trying to sound calm, and listen, but it was so scary.
He just called back and said they lifted the lockdown, closed the campus for the rest of the day. Both ABC and NBC are reporting there was a fatality. In the meantime, he's off to to meet his wife for lunch. Good plan.
I am so relieved he's safe.

The only way that I found teens are better than toddlers is teens allow you to sleep later.

Even though the DH wants to stay at the WL I remembered something while I was knitting. I thought someone on the AKL thread said that all of the AKL CL rooms were all Arusha view rooms, and I think it priced cheaper than the WL. Which just confused me even more.

Happy Friday to all my RCer friends! I am sooooo glad Friday is finally here!!!

I keep telling myself that this too will pass and is just temporary. That I shouldn't pop their heads off like Pez dispensers.

Good morning and Happy Friday :cool1:
MY older DD and I got into it when she was little, but we breezed through the teenage years. :cutie:

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Tomorrow is December :santa:, I am off to the mall armed with coupons. Wish me luck!
This is either a good sign that you're feeling better or that you're as stubborn as a mule and are going out to the mall despite feeling blah. Hope its the former. Love that you're bringing your coupons. I always tell DD that anyone can pay full price, but it's a lot better not to. She cuts out coupons from magazines and gives them to me to buy her make-up:thumbsup2

Is the septic system dead due to the power outage zapping the electrical system? Sorry if I missed your explanation. That is not a fun expenditure - it's like having to put on a new roof or windows - a necessity, but not exciting.

I think your statement that you and DD "breezed through the teen years" is the first time that statement has ever been made in the history of moms Vs. teen girls.

ok, so I promise I'm not crazy, but this room is starting to creep me out. The other morning I noticed the ceiling fan acting funny. It wasn't turned on, but the blades would rock back and forth and slowly spin one way, stop, rock back and forth and spin the other way. There was no central air or heat on, but there was a fan on in the room. However if it was the fan, I would think it would have spun the same direction each time. Now the door is acting funny. The DH shut it when he left for work. Movement by the door caught my eye, and I looked to find the door barely open and gently bouncing. I got up, shut the door, made sure it was shut good, and went back to my laptop on the bed. A few minutes later, the door was open and bouncing again. I had this happen a total of three times. Again, there is no central air or heat on. Maybe all this confusion about being able to pick a resort has made me lose my mind. :lmao:
Have they recently installed a new railroad next to the house?
OH MY about the funky happenings in your bedroom
If only I had tag granting powers:wizard:
It's the voice of reason having me switch to YC....
When has that voice of reason ever stopped you in the past? Ignore it and stick with GF - that voice doesn't know what it's talking about right now - it's probably tired.

I'm beginning to think Mark Twain was right about teenagers. He supposedly advised parents that "when a child turns 13, his parents should put him in a barrel, close the lid, and feed him through a hole in the side. Then, when he turns 16, plug up the hole."
Thank you so much for reminding me of that quotation - I'm off to buy a barrel before DD gets home.

Thank you for the sage advice. It's so worrisome though when you're in the throes of it and you don't know how the story ends, KWIM? You worry that every little problem might just be the one that will turn into something bigger someday. Oh, how I wish I could have a crystal ball so I wouldn't worry so much - and I only have one child! I have no idea how you crazy people (you know who you are) with all these kids do it not worrying yourself nuts - you guys are amazing:worship:

Hi RC friends,
What a day. A few hours ago DS called, the college he works at was on lockdown. He was locked in his work area, with other employees and students. I was just trying to sound calm, and listen, but it was so scary.
He just called back and said they lifted the lockdown, closed the campus for the rest of the day. Both ABC and NBC are reporting there was a fatality. In the meantime, he's off to to meet his wife for lunch. Good plan.
I am so relieved he's safe.
 I think you'll feel better when he gets off campus so try and talk to him again then. You must be both worried and relieved. I hope you get to hug him soon.

Have they recently installed a new railroad next to the house?

Nope, there is one not too far from here, but it's been there as long as I can remember. The in laws have only lived in this house for about 15 yr, but I have lived in the area all my life. I'm starting to think it's just the DH's family. The house his parents were living in when we met through first being married was off too. Things would move when there was no explanation for them moving, you would see shadow figures, DH's niece would talk about playing with another child in the house when she was the only child. Then the room I slept in, people (including myself) talked about having their toes squeezed, picked up off the bed, and wiggled. Like someone was trying to wake you up by doing it, but no one would be there when you woke up mid toe wiggling.

Thank you so much for reminding me of that quotation - I'm off to buy a barrel before DD gets home.

I need to go buy two for our DSs. They do keep life interesting though, don't they? I'm just happy I have a 15 yr old boy that still loves spending time with me. Everyday when he gets home from school, he comes in my room, takes his shoes off, lays on DH's side of the bed, grabs my arm, wraps it around him, and says "Mommy-Moose snuggle time". He frustrated the grey hairs onto my head sometimes, but he is a big sweetie.

Thanks, Kook. DS sounds glad the weekend is here. They've upped the fatalities to three.
Casper is such a nice, small town, it's hard to believe something like this could happen there. I know when bizarre tragedy strikes, most say that, don't they?
Hubster and I are going out to dinner, time to relax.

Good to know for the future. Thanks! It actually wasn't too painful on the second attempt. I was pleased to find that I am the proud owner of an Orbitz file to go along with my WDTC file. :rotfl:

Awesome! :cloud9:

Um, well, I was going to multi-quote, but you all get so chatty sometimes ;)

Last load of laundry is in, all the beds have clean sheets, and I am mostly packed. Even went to the gas station after picking up the kids and filled up. We are just about ready to go :)

Jeanette - sounds like you are on the mommy crazy train too, HUGS!! You know I'll be stopping in over the weekend to see where you are landing ;)

i_heart - I am a notorious over packer, so right now we all have two outfits for the day, warm weather and cool weather, LOL! Plus bathing suits, extras, etc. so nope, no room for you to sneak in :( I totally know what you mean regarding DS6. You have to follow your gut when it comes to your kids. I think you will be happy when you know exactly what is going on. I never gave up and even though I didn't necessarily want the labels, like you, I wanted to know how to help them best. Did you get the dis res # from Orbitz again?

Letthewookiein - your DS sounds a lot like mine, his grades are weak in reading and writing but the funny thing is like your DS I hear him read words that blow my mind, and he loves to write stories about his passions. And he can talk your ear off about any thing he is interested in. You were 100% right to push and get him to the neurologist. Moms always know best!!!!!

Marie - I am PETRIFIED of DD's teen years!!!! I hope you have a great weekend and can rest a bit!

Linda - good for your DS for turning himself around!!!! GW is a great school! My DS19 is finally at the turning point and has his sights on law school as well.

Miss - LMAO, you know I had a visual of you with a shock collar in the dollar section!!!!!

Candace - I have been out of the work force for a while but I can tell you the people on DH's office have no problems coming to him to ask for a raise. It sounds like you have all the right reasons to ask for it. Go for it!!!!!

Ginny - what is it with college campuses lately? I am happy to hear DS is safe!

KOOK - I just looked back to what I wrote to wookie and cracked up. Seeing it alone is quite funny!

Well 24 hours from now we should have been to Epcot had lunch at Via Napoli, and be on our way back from stopping at GF to check out the ginger bread house and heading towards the atrium lounge for some snacks :)

I just have to say there is a god!!! DD came home bouncing off the walls and I was getting stressed thinking of a repeat afternoon, but nope she pooped out on the couch next to me! Both DS's have walked by and said how much they love her when she's sleeping, LOL!!! Quiet afternoon was very much needed today!!!!

Yes we do. I just wish I had listened to DH's sooner. It could have saved my little man years of trying meds he should have never been on.
