Is tony's really that bad?

Nope, don't think you're necessarily a food snob. I do think that you fail to realize that the whole "good food/ bad food" thing is subjective, and that not everyone will agree with you. And maybe you're one of those picky eaters- which is OK too. A little narrow of a way to live your life, but OK.:)
I think you need to look in the mirror.

True, but your first statement applies to pretty much every restaurant on Disney property.

I do not think this is the case. There are plenty of WDW restaurants that have very good to excellent food that is worth the price being paid, I just don't think Tony's is one of them. Sure you could get it cheaper at a restaurant at home, but not make it in the microwave by opening a can.

I don't eat at Tony's, I don't think it's worth it, but there are lots of WDW restaurants I think are worth it. Others may not like the ones I like.

My family has been there on 2 trips and everyone seemed to enjoy it! No complaints, I have suggested to friends looking for dining at MK. We would go back with no problem!

Ate here in 2005. Spaghetti was hard, box pasta. Terrible. Meatballs were edible. We won't be back.

I agree. Tony's by far has the worst pasta i've ever had in my life. Had I ordered a non-tomato based dish, I might have liked it. but im too afraid to go back and find out. My companion hated his food as well, he had the spagetti with meatballs, I had the chicken parm, so its not just me! Never again.

I'm planing my dinninng for september 2013 and i was thinking about eatting at Tony's and then i read that dinners have hated the place. Could i just have an honest thought about it. Besides i love Lady and the tramp movie.

I say go for it! You'll get people who love it, who hate it, and who say it was just okay, but if you love Lady and the Tramp go in thinking about that and just experience it for yourself.

My family thought it was good and enjoyed it, but not enough to make it a must do but I don't regret going and would go again if one of my kids wanted to.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. We have been to Tonys and had a good experience. I had the shrimp pasta and dh had chicken parm. We both liked it.....enough so that we are going back in February :thumbsup2

For us LTT holds no appeal and The Plaza seems like a waste of a TS credit being mostly sandwiches, so we would (and did) choose to return to Tonys. Again different strokes for different folks.

I hope you enjoy yourself, whatever you decide :dance3:

Take care :goodvibes

I also think there's a tendency of people to pile on though here on the DIS. Maybe they aren't all food snobs but they're just picky and easily swayed by the opinions of others. Meaning, it's the popular thing to say Tony's sucks.

I have never had a bad meal at WDW and this is in 10 trips. :confused3 But, I also don't go to a seafood place and order the chicken.:rotfl2: I ask the server what's good at any given place. At Tony's I got the lasagna. Sure, it wasn't as good as my aunt's but it was tasty. The server was prompt, and my sister scored a free dessert. It wasn't her birthday, so I'm thinking the server took a shine to her. It wasn't just a brownie either-it was a giant ice cream sundae!

All of the WDW restaurants have gotten a bad review here, even Le Cellier, which is apparently the Holy Grail of ADRs. I still say, try it once and don't depend on the opinions of other people.

I agree!! You must try for yourself!

I love the movie, so I love the decor inside. We have been there on multiple trips and have enjoyed the food. What I can say is any restaurant will get good and bad reviews. Some days are better than others in each kitchen, so hopefully you hit it on a good day. Last year we had a horrific meal at Jiko a restaurant we have always loved. It ended with my husband getting food poisoning, and I wrote a complaint. Up until that night I would have raved, but now I won't go back for quite some time. Good luck!

Amazingly condescending. Anyone who doesnt like tony's is a picky eater? Lol.

My goal is to eat at all the resrurants. So last year trip I let Dd pick and this was here main choice (she loves Lady and the Tramp). It was are first meal. We both enjoyed it. Is it a meal I keep wishing I could jump in car and get, no. Is it on list for next ADR, no. Am I glad I went, yes. ( Will say at times I have wanted a meal I ate on trips. My DH just rolls his eyes when I mention them.) Have a magical meal where ever you decide.

First of all i want to say thanks to all the disers. I'm going to eat at Tony's on my last night at wdw.Not sure what i will have but i'm going to think good thoughts on this. MY DFB took me out to dinner last night,he's been working a few late nights this past week and the place we went to was a buffet and the food wasn't fine dinning quality but it was pepared well and it was hot. There are those who are picky about what they eat i'm just not one of them. Happy hoildays!!!!!!!

Good for you! I'm glad you used your own judgement! Have a magical time and Happy Holidays!

Like it was said everyone likes different things.Being Italian I don't eat at Italian restaurants because I have it everyday and paying for spaghetti diiners is a waste of money to me.The only way you will know if you like it is to try it.

I too had heard the bad reviews but decided I wanted to try for myself on my trip with my 17 year old sister (who is kind of a food snob) in June. We both really enjoyed our meal. We both had chicken parmesan and thought it was really good as well as the service. I didn't tell my sister beforehand about the bad reviews and I was surprised how much she liked it. I didn't find it exceptional but I would eat at Tony's again. The one place we ate at that gets great reviews that we both did not enjoy AT ALL was Tokyo Dining. While the service was ok, we didn't like the food at all. We split the Bento box and everything in it didn't taste good. We both ended up with food poisoning as well. So I don't really pay attention to any reviews and decide for myself after trying it.

Then why ask for an opinion? Seriously, not being snide.

Op asked is tony really that bad? and the majority of folks say yeah. Now I don't know if they are saying because it's popular to say it. :confused3 Although I really can't figure out why anyone would do that. It's pretty simple to me, either you enjoyed the food or you didn't. I definitely would not say a good meal was bad just because everyone else did.

Anyhoo, op asked for opinions. Now like i said before I do take opinions with a grain of salt but my time is limited and I really hate bad meals so I do read reviews. If I read a hotel review and 90% of the reviews say the place has bed bugs and was dirty. there is a good chance I'd avoid it. Same with restaurants.

Exactly! I really cant see someone indicating a restaurant is bad just because everyone else said so. We are not in grade school.

I also do my homework and read reviews for both hotels and restaurants. As you mentioned, if the majority say the hotel/restaurant is bad, chances are im not going to go there. Granted, sometimes i have gone anyway because im curious. But i dont do that anymore because i always end up disappointed. Lol. It happened with tonys, ohana, and 1900 pf dinner to name a few. If the majority says its bad, I tend to believe them.

I too look at what the forum members say about restaurants. I am thankful for the honest reviews. As mentioned, our time is limited. I want to make the most out of My Disney experience, including good food. I switched my ADRs for this trip having read through these discussions. Can't thank everyone enough for all of your help. XO

I think alot has to do with what you order. The last time my husband and I ate at Tony's he had a fantastic meal, whereas none of mine was barely edible. He had a delicious soup, one of the most tender and flavorful steaks we've ever gotton on property, and a cheesecake to die for. On the other hand, I ordered the zucchini fries which were so soggy and dripping grease that I couldn't eat them, some kind of nasty pasta dish, and a piece of lemon walnut cake that was so dry that it tasted like it was a week old. It just so happened that I made three really bad choices and he made three really good ones. I kept sneaking bites of his dishes. With each one, he'd finally offer to trade with me, but then would immediately grab his back, saying mine was nasty.
