Is tony's really that bad?

I plan on eating there again next time I visit. I've been 3 times, liked every meal I had and love the atmosphere.;)

I'm planing my dinninng for september 2013 and i was thinking about eatting at Tony's and then i read that dinners have hated the place. Could i just have an honest thought about it. Besides i love Lady and the tramp movie.

LOL. ok,
my honest thought is open some ragu spaghetti sauce, pour it over badly cooked noodles and serve luck warm. That's Tony's..

It is the only time in my kids entire life that they thought pasta was nasty and refused to eat it.

In all seriousness, I'd starve before eating here again.

What you thought we were dishonest when we say it's horrible? ;)

If you like the atmosphere, go in, take some pictures and then eat else where.

Try it once for yourself and don't rely on opinions of others on here.. We almost didn't go because of reviews, but my son loved it and my wife and I enjoyed it too. I thought the flat bread was excellent..

:thumbsup2This. That's why I don't follow the opinions of other people. There are people here who are extremely picky, or food snobs.Try for yourself and go from there.

LOL. or a 3rd reason. It's bad food. :rotfl2:

I like reviews, but I take them with a grain of salt. sure you will get the proverbial person who is a foodie but imo when you 7 out of 10 folks saying avoid it like the plague. Well I can't believe that many people are food snobs.

I mean think about the title of this thread. LOL. Tony's has now gotten such a terrible reputation (deservedly so imo) that it's becoming a punch line on a message board. That's pretty bad...

I thought it was fine if you're not after a culinary experience. I'm Italian. I love beautifully prepared Italian food, but I knew this was not why I was going to Tony's. I felt like it was basically cafeteria/food court level "steam table" Italian, akin to a mall Sbarro's. Do I think it's "good?" No. But I like the location, it's not constantly jammed, I like Tramp, and it's the only L&T thing in the park. Happy tripping!

LMFAO! OMG you're so funny Eliza. Once again, you said it! That's exactly how i would describe it. Ragu with poorly cooked noodles. My son refuses to eat there. And believe me, we are NOT food snobs. Not at all. When the majority of folks are telling you it sucks, there's gotta be some truth to that. I went there with very low expectations because of all the bad reviews, and we still ended up hating our meals.

Btw, i love lady and the tramp but i think the atmosphere is terrible.

So you admit its like eating at a mall food court cafeteria. You dont go there for the food obviously, you go because its not packed and for the great location?

Interesting. :scratchin

You know The Plaza and LTT both have great locations and their food is better than Tony's. LTT is more popular for lunch than dinner, but i love both.

If you love Lady and the Tramp, rent the movie, order Olive Garden and it will still likely be better than Tony's. :confused3
Heck, you could even grab counter service at ASMR and eat under the Tramp statue!:rotfl2:

I agree! I have learned not to go by the opinions on here. You need to try it for yourself.

Tony's has the kind of Italian food anybody could make at home in the microwave for astronomical Disney theme park prices. It's nothing new, nothing different and nothing special (food-wise).

If you're on the free dining or you just like the idea of eating there, or you're looking for stuff the kids might eat without complaining, go for it. But don't expect great food. It's okay not to expect great food...but you are going to be disappointed if you do.

I also think there's a tendency of people to pile on though here on the DIS. Maybe they aren't all food snobs but they're just picky and easily swayed by the opinions of others. Meaning, it's the popular thing to say Tony's sucks.

I have never had a bad meal at WDW and this is in 10 trips. :confused3 But, I also don't go to a seafood place and order the chicken.:rotfl2: I ask the server what's good at any given place. At Tony's I got the lasagna. Sure, it wasn't as good as my aunt's but it was tasty. The server was prompt, and my sister scored a free dessert. It wasn't her birthday, so I'm thinking the server took a shine to her. It wasn't just a brownie either-it was a giant ice cream sundae!

All of the WDW restaurants have gotten a bad review here, even Le Cellier, which is apparently the Holy Grail of ADRs. I still say, try it once and don't depend on the opinions of other people.

True, but your first statement applies to pretty much every restaurant on Disney property. I can get any kind of food cheaper and better quality at home. Seafood, Chinese, steak etc.

But, the quality of food at WDW is still above what you will find at most theme/ amusement parks and the prices are competitive too compared to other parks.

Lol. No kidding. I was thinking the same thing. Because I dont like bad/gross food, im considered a food snob?
Nope, don't think you're necessarily a food snob. I do think that you fail to realize that the whole "good food/ bad food" thing is subjective, and that not everyone will agree with you. And maybe you're one of those picky eaters- which is OK too. A little narrow of a way to live your life, but OK.:)

I've been to Disney many times and Tony's is one place we have not tried. I've read a lot of reivews and I admit because it does not get a lot of good comments, I have not tried it. We'll be there in January and I still have a few adr's to make so I'm thinking of Tony's for lunch.

I'm hesitant because of the reviews that say gross, horrible, etc. If someone has only eaten one meal there and a few items were bad, why not state what was specifically bad and not say the restaurant is disgusting, gross, etc. I guess what I'm saying is if one or even two entrees were not good does that mean everything on the menu is bad? Was the restaurant dirty, bad service, unpleasant atmosphere.

I'm trying to read between the lines. It sounds like the appetizers and desserts are okay but maybe avoid pasta/red sauce? I read a lot of really bad reviews for Sci-Fi but decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did. Not particularly fantastic food but it was good food with a one of a kind atmosphere.

We love Tony's.

Granted, we only get the spaghetti but we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food!

Wow. Ok. We get it. You love Tonys.

Again, im speechless. Thats YOUR opinion.
