Caribbean Beach FAQ part V

We were in Barbados building 16. I had requested Jamacia because we wanted to go across the bridge each day - but it was just a request since we had the standard room.

Last time we stayed in the pirate rooms and were in one of the Trinidad's and the walk to the food court was a little long, but we were right next to the bus stop.

Thanks to those who keep this thread going and update the info! I'm so excited, we're staying at CBR again in June! We've stayed there twice before, but not since 2005. We're hoping for more time to swim and enjoy the resort this time.

Am I right that all of the rooms in Trinidad South are now pirate rooms? Do the coffee pots use regular coffee and filters? Is the marshmallow roast for anyone, and is it on,y on certain beach areas?

Thanks!
Steph

For our pre-cruise stay, we were in Barbados 11 and I will admit that the walk did seem a little long when compared to from other places in the resort. But, when I timed it, it was only about 7 minutes at a very slow pace because we were behind someone with a double stroller. When we stayed in Aruba, the Jamaica bus stop was actually closer than the Aruba bus stop.

Yay for booking another stay at the CBR! There have been some changes since your last stay. The main pool has been redone completely and now has a slight pirate them, has two slides and is zero entry.

All of Trinidad South are pirate rooms. The rest have a slight Nemo theme.

The coffee pots were just changed out and they are the single cup pots.

If I am remembering correctly, when we were there in May, the marshmallow roasts took place on the beach between Trinidad North and Old Port Royale.

Yay for going back to CBR!:cool1::thumbsup2

Yup.

Do the coffee pots use regular coffee and filters?

Not sure. Hopefully Mickeystoontown will be by shortly.

Yup. It is on the beach between OPR and Trinidad North.

This is our 3rd trip to WDW but our first staying on property and we are super excited! :yay: But, I have a couple of questions/concerns. One: we are not arriving until after 11:30pm on a Saturday night-how often does the ME run that late at night? Two: we have booked a king room-since there are limited number of king rooms do they ever overbook them so that you get bumped down to a regular room? Thanks for any help you all can give! :cool2:

Can I get some more details on the marshmallow roasts and poolside movies? We will be there in 23 days!

We didn't go to the marshmallow roasts but I know that they were held *nightly on the beach between Trinidad North and Old Port Royale. From what I've read, they provide the roasting sticks and marshmallows for the guests.

The movies are held *nightly as well and are in the courtyard at Old Port Royale. The big projector screen is set up there and there's plenty of seating. I'm not quite sure of the times and I believe that they vary according to season. I know that we were watching Wall-E and, about half way into the movie, we could see the Epcot fireworks which took place at 9 p.m.

*Weather permitting

When you check-in, ask the castmember if they have a times guide or can give you more information the marshmallow roast and movies.

Just to expand on what mickeystoontown stated. Here is the movie schedule for the month of October. It is subject to change, but you will also get the schedule when you check in.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort Movie Schedule

8:00PM - By the Feature Pool
Sunday - Pocahontas
Monday -Halloweentown
Tuesday - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Wednesday -Hocus Pocus
Thursday - Monsters, Inc.
Friday - Cinderella (See our Princess Page)
Saturday - The Princess & the Frog

Also, the marshmallow roast usually starts about an hour before the movie. Both times change as the time of sunset changes throughout the year. The CMs have marshmallows and sticks. If you want s'mores, you'll have to bring the chocalate and graham crackers. Those are available in the gift shop. The CMs that do the marshmallow roast are awesome any time we have do it. They are full of great stories and tid bits about CBR and WDW in general.

How does the internal bus system work? Is it frequent? If we were to walk to the farthest end of the resort from the main bus stop where the park buses do pickups and drop-offs, how long would that take? It is my understanding that the internal bus is SEPARATE from the park buses, which is different from the Port Orleans park buses that service ALL four depots at Riverside, along with FQ for certain times of the day. Is this correct?

Not quite correct. Yes, there is an internal bus system that stops at all the villages, OPR and the Custom House (where you check-in/out). It runs constantly and the internal loop takes ~10 minutes to go all the way around. Other than after checking in, we have never needed the internal bus. Even if you are in the farthest location from OPR and the Main Pool, it is a 10 minute walk to them. We like to stay in Jamaica 45 and it's a 5 minute walk to OPR and the Main Pool.

There is no main bus stop that you need to go to in order to catch a bus to the parks. The buses to the parks stop at every village to pick up and drop off. In that respect, it is exactly the same as POR and POFQ. We like this setup because you are never far from a bus stop. The buses all will be clearly marked with either Internal or which park they are going to.

I hope this helps!:thumbsup2

Thank you very much, that is very helpful! I was worried about the walk after being spoiled with staying at POFQ last year, and in the closest building and stairwell at that! :p However that does not sound too bad.

This is a great thread! We are going to be staying here for the first time soon and can't wait. I love the photos and info in this thread:cool1:

Are there any recent photos of this resort? The photos on this thread seem a few years old

There have been some added in the last few months on the CBR Pics thread. I can't get the link to work on my iPad, but if you to to the top of the Resorts board, and click on the Resort Photos/Video sub board, the thread is on that page.

Thanks! I had to subscribe to that one as well!

OK bear with me. My dd got married this past Sat and the other set of parents have given them a honeymoon. There is no limit,BUT my dd and son in law don't want to break the bank. This week they are driving around Texas (where we live). They're free spirited and don't plan so I am hunting WDW for next week.

We've been to WDW before but not stayed at the moderates. Any specific advice for a nice/pretty room or locale in CBR? I'd love for them to stay at the Poly but I don't think they want to impose that upon the parents
TIA
