This is the dawning of the rest of our lives... AT DISNEY WORLD!!!! COMPLETED 1/6!!!!

THOSE TIGERS ARE BEAUTIFUL. I could look at those pictures all day long.

I love how Disney makes the animals feel like they are at "home" and not at some nasty zoo. Why Disney is 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x better than any other place in the world.

You weren't kidding when you said you'd update more! Get it girl.

I get emotional over animals too! Tigers (okay... cats in general) are my favorite. They're so gorgeous I can't even deal with it!

Your tiger experience sounds awesome! That kind of thing just warms my heart. And I'll get started on the script asap. :)

Tigers are definitely beautiful animals. They always look so calm and collected too. Must be because they're cats and they couldn't give two shakes about anyone else.

Wow, they really were getting close to you! That's so cool.

Tiger jailbreak movie? I'm there. I'll right the script. :thumbsup2

AWWWWW your pictures of the tigers are just too cute!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc I LOVE tigers! I can't believe how close the tigers were getting to the window, I probably would have cried too! Or worse, I would have done my annoying, shrieking, waving my hands around like an idiot thing that I do when I see cute animals (I feel bad for my DH when I do that, but I think he's used to it by now, I have no control over it, even in public, when I see something cute, I start freaking out!) :rotfl: I went to our a zoo once, I can't remember if it was the Bronx Zoo or the tiny zoo we have here in CT, but it had those windows where you could see the tigers just like that, and one of them kept coming up to the glass, and even put his paws up on the glass and stood up! It was overwhelming, he was soooo gigantic!

*Sigh* So yeah, I like tigers a little! :faint: Great update! :cool1:

Oh my gosh, those tiger photos are stunning!!!! Good job:thumbsup2
I love how close it got! So incredible!

I'm not going to lie, I have also shed a tear just by being in the presence of a tiger. Those big boys bring all the emotions out!

Ohhhh Disney has such good looking Tigers!
They should really be in Epcot with the rest of the super attractive CMs...

I have spent my whole day sitting and reading your TR, hahah. I was cracking up, you're great! Now, I feel so out of the loop and I should be scorned for this question but is Livin It Up a song that Stacey sings? Or that's on her show (show? channel? lifestyle?)? I am trying to remember but it's an off day. Try not to judge me too hard for not knowing - my family is unfortunately not fans of Stacey :( Well this was a rambling I'm off to go read your previous trip report because who does summer work anyway?! ;)

Those are some amazing tiger photos! Lucky you to have such an up-close look at them!!!

Thank you! I definitely felt very lucky!

So could I. It's really hard to tear myself away from that area of AK.

I agree SO much. It breaks my heart when I see animals in small enclosures just sitting there looking so sad. The animals at Disney look so natural and content. It's really a beautiful thing.

Yeah, I gotta bang these updates out before my October trip! ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

It was totally awesome, and you're right it was very heartwarming! They just make me so happy!

haha Probably. Even though I'm totally a dog person, I love the attitude of a cat so much. They crack me up.

I know, I really couldn't believe how close they were!

I'm glad I'm getting some script offers. This movie's gonna rock.

Thanks! Yeah, I was definitely freaking out. It was just such a unique and awesome experience. I mean, it's always amazing to see the tigers, but they were just so in your face this time!

AWW! That sounds amazing! I would totally lose it if I saw that!

Oh my gosh, those tiger photos are stunning!!!! Good job:thumbsup2

Yeah, it's so overwhelming just to be around them that I can't help but be totally emotional.

Hahahaha oh if the tigers and World Showcase CMs were in the same area I would just collapse.

Aww yay! :welcome:!!! I'm so glad you like it, thank you so much!

Stacey does not sing the Livin' It Up song (UNFORTUNATELY!!). It plays at the beginning and end of the Must Dos show she hosts though. You can hear it here: http://youtu.be/4k_iXgSJ0Sw

I hope you enjoy my last TR! Thanks so much for reading :)

YES!!!! hahahaha I love that song. "I have dreams like you NO REALLY! Just much less touchy feely!" That movie is just PERFECT in every way.

I agree, I'd be happy going to Disney anytime, but going during a special event season/low crowd time just adds that extra level of magic onto everything.

OMG! Congrats on the Disney Store job! I'm gonna re-apply after my Halloween store closes this year and hopefully they'll be taking on new people then cause I really want to work there!

That is so true! ToT really has the exact PERFECT tone... eerie... like something just isn't right there... something bad happened... and now it may happen to you too... muhahahahahaha....

That song is really one of the best. Just like all the songs in Tangled. I seriously love everything about that movie.

You definitely should apply for the Disney Store job. I'm sure if you did it after the Halloween store closes, Disney would be hiring seasonally, so then you could do seasonally to test it out and then just be awesome and they could hire you permanently. I am already loving it SO MUCH and I have worked like 6 hours. And 5 1/2 of those hours were on a computer training. But it's still perfect.

AHHH don't even get me started on the perfection that is ToT. WHY ISN'T IT OPEN FOR US TO STAY IN OVERNIGHT?! Suri can have the freakin castle if they let us stay in ToT. And they should give us free bathrobes. (I spilled coffee on mine and it stained and I suck at getting stains out.) Any maybe even a towel wrap too. And some pins of course. OMG so you know how they do pins of characters on rides? They have really great ToT ones but the image of Pascal in a little bellhop uniform just popped into my head. How adorable would that be?! :rotfl:

Anywho...so that's interesting that the tigers are mutts. Because I was wondering if they were a special breed because they just seem so exceptionally orange and then I couldn't remember if I really thought that last time I saw them or was just thinking it now that I saw yours and maybe you just had great camera resolution or something. So hmm. Crazy. And awesome. I feel the same way with tigers about you. Your post made me cry also. But mostly because I saw some tigers today at the zoo. (And no it's not even close to Disney so the tigers weren't even close to me, like for you) But still, I zoomed. AND THE TIGERS PLAY-FIGHTED! AND WRESTLED! And it was crazy. And then I lost my camera. I'm actually pretty sure it was probably the guy who stole your lanyard. Okay I made that up but it's so frustrating. Because you know, Disney fairies would magically find the camera so I can get it back but I'm not in Disney so that won't happen.

Anyway...I gotta stop writing you novels so I can get started on my Tiger Jailbreak script. What should it be called? I'm thinking...BENGAL BREAKOUT. Because the only orange they'll wear is the orange they were born with!

Lia, you have made my day. I've read the entire report thus far and don't think I've ever laughed so hard. Your pop culture/TV/music references were all caught and hysterical. Your love of Stacey, including the screen grab on your first post still makes me belly laugh when I see it.

Your report has brought a lot of joy into my life and I can't wait for the next installment. You know how to create a TR worth readin' and I thank you. Some can be a little dry and long, yours are deliciously delightful. Keep up the great work. It's rare I ever read a trip report and feel like I know the person but I think you and I are about the same age and literally share all of the same affection for fine humor of the ridiculous type, the lighter side of life and general silliness. Oh, and obsessing over Disney doesn't hurt either.

Appreciate the spectacular work you've done here and thanks for making me smile.

Onward! :thumbsup2

Those photos are GORGEOUS. The Tigers are such an extraordinary color. It really just blows me away. I love your appreciation for them :goodvibes What an incredible experience!

I hope so! I'm an assistant manager at my Halloween store, so I'd really LOVE to have that job at the Disney Store!!! I'd start out as a sales associate though. I just want to be be surrounded by Disney stuff all day haha.

OMG PASCAL IN THE TOT OUTFIT. YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! DISNEY, MAKE THAT HAPPEN!!!!!

I'm sorry your robe got stained. :( I'm so excited to FINALLY buy mine in October.

Awwwww! That is so cute that they were play fighting! But terrible that you lost your camera. I would cry. That's awful. I guess you had no luck with the zoo's lost and found or anything? :(

Bengal Breakout!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another genius idea from you! Get going on that script!

THIS COMMENT made my day! You are so kind, thank you! And :welcome: to the madness of my TRs. I'm happy you loved it and found stuff to relate to. It's nice to hear I'm not the only loon around here. ;)

Thanks again so much!

Those photos are GORGEOUS. The Tigers are such an extraordinary color. It really just blows me away. I love your appreciation for them :goodvibes What an incredible experience!

Thanks Jess! It really was. I can't wait to go back and see them again!

OMG Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. I will talk to her about that and tell her... though I may leave out the part about the drop on Splash being horrible. You really hate it? That is so... interesting to me. Cause I just love thrill rides *so* much that it's hard for me to understand! I really love that f-ed up tingly feeling you get in your butt/stomach... and if you're on Mission: Space.. your BRAIN. Well, I can understand people not liking the Mission: Space feeling b/c it's just that intense. I mean, I think instead of asking Lee-Anne if she'd consider riding it, I'm going to warn her NOT to. She said the reason she doesn't want to do the thrill rides is that she "doesn't like feeling in control" which is very much what Mission: Space is. I've never gotten high but I swear that ride is like getting high as HALE. I just don't want her to ride something and then have an adverse reaction and then REALLY be like "NO THRILL RIDES EVER AHHH!!" So we'll see what happens. Maybe we'll start with Goofy's Barnstormer and work our way up. LOL.
Strangely enough, I actually find Goofy's Barnstormer way more scary than BTMRR. I have a bit of a heights issue so the mountain itself is kinda comforting because I never really feel like I'm off the ground. That's why I pray to god I'm never on Space Mountain with the lights on. I'd go into full-on panic. :rotfl:

OK your tiger pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I am so jealous that they were actually up and moving around. I would have cried too. When I was younger, I spent years obsessed with white tigers after I saw them actually being active and stuff at Busch Gardens. I still have the little white tiger snow globe I bought to commemorate the day. Tigers are such amazing animals. :cloud9:

It is truly amazing to be surrounded by Disney stuff all the time! I find new stuff and freak out every day. It's so perfect. Plus then not only do you know when everything goes on such great sales, but then you get the CM discount on top of them. It's SO AMAZING. I love it sooooooo much!!

Just the idea of Pascal in a ToT outfit makes me smile SO MUCH! Gahhh I can't even tell you how many people come into the Store looking for Pascal stuff and he has been sold out FOREVER. Like C'mon Disney! Can't you tell how beloved that little guy is? MAKE MORE OF HIM IN EVERYTHING!!

I cannot wait until you have a ToT bathrobe too. Please take a pic while riding ToT for me. And then we can be like twins!! :goodvibes

No luck with the lost and found. It's also frustrating because all you do is leave a message but they have such high volume that they only call you back if they think they have it. So who knows? At least I didn't lose it like right before a Disney trip or anything. Just have to add a new one into expenses now. And I hate being old enough to have "expenses" and "budgets" and such. Those sound like such disgusting words.

Bengal Breakout is in the works!! You should also star in it, btw.

That's interesting. Thanks for explaining. I get what you mean about BTMRR being really grounded. I'll definitely tell Lee-Anne that. I was so bummed/fascinated when I saw Space with the lights on. It was like finding out Santa Clause wasn't real. I mean, he's definitely real... but you know, if he wasn't, I assume that's what finding that out would feel like. :santa:

Thanks! I really want to go to Busch Gardens but as usual I never want to leave Disney for anything. But I've heard it's a great park.

Ahh that's awesome! What is your discount there, if you don't mind me asking? Do you get discounts on sale merchandise?

Pascal is seriously one of the most adorable characters they've created in awhile and they really need to give him his due!

HAHA I so will. This is one of my things on my to do list this trip! :thumbsup2

Ugh, I'm sorry about your camera. If it helps, mine's a Canon Powershot A1200 and it was only $97 and it's pretty awesome. Like, the one I was using before that (which broke at Disney) was over $400 back in 2006 and I'd say it's about equal with the Canon. It had more settings which was nice, but overall I think I like the Canon more. So hopefully you won't have to spend a fortune to get a great camera!

YES I should star in it! I should star in SOMETHING. Sigh. LOL.

Day 7, Part 3 In Which I Am Almost Clark Griswold

Who else loves the Vacation movies?

I know, I know... it's like, why even ask that question. How could you NOT love the Vacation movies? Clark, Ellen, RUSS!!!!!!!! (Right here, Dad!), Audrey, and of course... Eddie. OH, and we can't forget about Aunt Edna. "Dad, tell Audrey to stop pushing Aunt Edna on me!!!!!!!!"

Gotta love 'em.

If you DON'T... go rent/buy/download these movies. NOW.

My favorite is the original Vacation, but Christmas Vacation is a close second. I watch it every single December while decorating my room for Christmas.

They just don't make 'em like that anymore, folks. They really don't.

Anywho... there was really only ONE thing that could pull me away from the glorious tigers I was crying over in Asia.

And that was the promise of Disney Food.

It was lunch time, so we went over to the Yak & Yeti counter service location.

I just got a side of Fried Rice:
7891307908_463ac84dcb_z.jpg

Sorry there is no picture of the actual food. I'm going to do WAY better with food pictures on my October trip. I promise. I even plan to do a full out DINING REPORT. So prepare for that awesomeness.

So... the rice was okay, but nothing to write home about. At first, I didn't like it, but then I kept eating and realized that it just wasn't the fried rice I was used to from NY/NJ chinese food restaurants. There really was nothing wrong with it, it was just a bit different.

I can't remember what my mom got, but I do remember that for dessert she got the Cinnamon Glazed Pecans. One of the BEST Disney snacks. But their deliciousness is not why I remember that she got them.

The reason I specifically remember them is because they caused a disaster.

Of course. RUSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The story goes like this. We sat and ate. My mom had some of her pecans.

A cute little squirrel then approached our table. My mom did something you are never supposed to do: she purposely dropped a pecan on the ground, which the squirrel quickly devoured.

Then another.

I told her she shouldn't. Everyone knows you aren't supposed to feed stray animals because they will keep coming back. I mean, my mom knows this. But she is a huge animal lover and said the squirrel seemed hungry so she felt bad.

So she dropped yet another nut. "Accidentally". For the squirrel to enjoy. And enjoy it he did. You could tell by the maniacal look growing in his eyes.

Then, she got up and went to the bathroom, leaving me with the hungry squirrel. It was just kind of wandering around for awhile. Looking up at me with its big eyes. I refused to do the stupid thing my mom did and feed it.

But... but... its eyes were just so big. And it wouldn't go away. And it was so cute. And I felt bad. Can't Disney feed these things? Probably not, because they don't want them coming back to bother guests and everyone knows IF YOU FEED A STRAY ANIMAL FOOD IT WILL COME BACK.

I ignored these facts and dropped a pecan. Accidentally, you know. And the squirrel devoured it in a second.

Of course, this caused the little woodland creature to become aggressive.

I don't even know what happened, but suddenly it was ON THE TABLE TOP RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. It was one of those things that happens so fast that you are just sitting there like "WHAT? DID THIS ANIMAL JUST FLY THROUGH THE AIR?"

So, I treated the squirrel like I would a dog, taking a nut and tossing it away from the table. Also like a dog, it got the nut and then came right back.

Sigh.

Again, it was right in front of me. On the table. As if by magic.

Here's something I didn't know: Squirrels are very good at jumping. I was a bit scared it would attack me or something. I know that sounds silly, but if you could only see how feisty this squirrel really was. It had finally found some park guests dumb enough to share their Cinnamon Glazed Pecans and it seemed prime to attack. The pecans give off an intoxicating aroma that just can not be ignored when you are in the area that they are sold, and I feel like this squirrel had been smelling this delicious smell for ages, dying for a taste. Finally, we arrived. It had a taste of the mind-bogglingly delicious Cinnamon Glazed Pecans. And it was now DYING for more.

This really reminded me of Christmas Vacation when the squirrel leaps out of the Christmas tree and onto Clark Griswold.

I did not want a squirrel on my body, so I stood up and took a step back. This did not happen in one fluid motion... of course I almost tripped backwards over the bench.

Of course, by this time, we had drawn a crowd. There were several people standing by, watching. Thank you for the help, fellow Disney guests. Next time you are in danger of having a squirrel attach to your body, I will simply watch and do nothing!!!!

What happened next is obvious. I did what any self-respecting, trip-reporting Disser would do: I snapped a picture on my phone, the only belonging I had managed to salvage from the table before jumping back in fear of my life. This was after the squirrel had inspected the table, found no pecans, and then leaped onto the bench where I had surrendered them. As you can see, he is eating one.

7891308138_3790926e7d_z.jpg

It started jumping around, from the table to the bench to the ground and back, MANIACALLY, over and over, looking for more pecans.

I just stood there, watching, thinking I should just turn over any other valuables to the squirrel, so I could exit the park with my life in tact.

A couple of custodial CMs saw what was happening and started giggling in a surprised way, like they couldn't believe the squirrel was doing this. Of course they couldn't. Because this never happens. BECAUSE PEOPLE KNOW NOT TO FEED WILD ANIMALS.

We knew too, we just chose to do it anyway. Oh, us.

The CMs succeeded in getting the squirrel to leave. Somehow. Disney magic, I guess.

The crowd left. And then my mom came out of the bathroom all willy nilly, completely oblivious to what her little act of kindness had caused.

I just had this look on my face that had her saying "........What?" as soon as she saw me.

After explaining my near death experience, we went back to Everest to use our Fastpasses. The wait was 30 minutes by now, so they actually came in handy.

Yet again, it was YETI TIME!!!

Up next: Were we free from the squirrel? Emotionally, will I ever be free from the squirrel?!?!
