30 pounds by Oct, who's with me??

I'm on Day 4 of the detox and am down 6 lbs.!!! Today is nothing but bananas (up to 8) and skim milk.. gonna be a rough one! But tomorrow I get to have chicken. I can't believe how much energy I have. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to stand up after 3 days of nothing but fruits & veggies.

I am officially down 18.2 pounds since I started, 8.2 pounds since I started posting here last Monday. Yay! I hope the scale keeps moving that direction.

Newcomer here. I have been following the myfitness program too but I am not making progress like others are reporting. I started on June 23rd and have only lost 6 1/2 pounds. I thought for sure with all the exercise and watching my calories, carbs, etc, that I would have experienced a greater loss. I am a bit discouraged. I was 146 and my goal is 120. It was sure a lot easier putting these pounds on!

Down 3 lbs this week! I have a mini goal that I want to make for next weigh-in. Hoping to lose 2 more by next week.

6.5 pounds is awesome for a month and a half! When you're already close to your goal, it may take a little longer to come off. Keep going, you can do it! Have you done weekly measurements? As long as those numbers are changing and how your clothes fit are what's most important. Also, if you're exercising, make sure you are getting enough calories as well! You sound like you're off to a great start! Also, exercising and building muscle I think can at least temporarily add weight.

I think thats great progress! That's about what I lost im just over month and I've got more weight to lose than you! The less you need to lose to hit your ideal weight, the slower it comes off!

Argh I think my scale is crazy! This morning when I first got on it, it said I had dropped 2 pounds from yesterday. I didn't think that was right so I got back on it, and it was up 5 pounds! That is a HUGE range! I recorded the higher number (which means a gain for me of 2.4 pounds, that is a lot!). But I'm not sure what is accurate?? It is a new scale, too.

This happends a lot. I usually get on the scale 3 or 4 times and usually your real weight will be 3 out of the 4 times. And we do fluctuate some...I weigh in the mornings because I haven't eaten anything yet and I think im at my lightest then...

So I really need to get my cabose in gear now. We received a wedding invitation for some friends and there will be alot of people there I haven't seen since high school when I was oh 70lbs lighter :(

We are leaving for the beach on Tuesday, so part of me says it isn't worth trying to start anything until we get back. What would ya'll do?

Yeah this was in the morning all within about 5 minutes.

Today was the beginning of my 2nd week doing Turbo Fire/Shakeology. Im down 4.5 lbs and 1.5" off my waist from just 1 week!

Thank you both for your encouragement. I did not think I was making good progress because I hear so many who lose 2-3+ pounds a week. Some of my clothes are fitting better. I can also fit into a few pieces I could not wear last year. I will keep in mind that the less you need to lose the slower it comes off. Also, I do strengthening exercises so I am building muscle. I will check back and let you all know what my progress is. :flower3:

Yes, it is worth it. The sooner you start, the sooner you will feel better and the sooner you will be healthier!

Starting Weight Watchers next week, at the hospital where I work. count me in. We might be going back in the spring, and would love to be 60 lbs lighter

Good luck! I was so worried about not losing enough and then this morning I weighed in and lost another pound! :cool1:

Sounds great. I'm sure you told us previously, but what detox are you doing?

Woohoo! Keep it up. That's amazing progress!

I think scales are sometimes psycho. My daughter got on the WiiFit the other day and it told her she'd gained like 25 pounds in 2 days, and this is my 12 year old, skinny as a rail daughter. We just rolled our eyes and let it go. The next time she got on, it was really freaked out about her losing 25 pounds so quickly. :rotfl2:

That's great. I wish I was good about doing measurements. I'd like to know how my body is changing, but I never think to do them.

I say start now! The sooner you start, the sooner you'll see results. It doesn't have to be dramatic. Just make a pledge to eat healthier, smaller portions and limit the desserts. That's a great way to get started, and then you can up the intensity when you return.

It sounds like we are having similar results. I have found that looking at any decrease as a great move. I started June 17 and I've lost about 9 pounds at last weigh in. I looked back and that 9 pounds is about what I put on since last fall so I think losing months worth of weight in less than a month is exciting. Try to find a way to put a positive spin on it.

Another thing I'm doing is recording my results in Microsoft Excel and I created a chart. Just watching that little line angling down makes me super happy! I watch the one on the Wii Fit as well. It might be small weight loss compared to some, but it is going steadily downhill and as long as I can keep that up, I'm motivated to keep on keeping on.

With that said, I've now lost my weight gain from the last school year and my ticker is actually recording weight loss. :cool1:

I'm still doing the Body by Vi shakes and LOVING them. I actually was scared to step on the scale this morning as I had not exercised in the last 3 days.....I still lost 1.5 pounds! I am finding that the loss and those charts I mentioned above are my main motivator. I still don't feel like my clothes fit different or I look almost 10 pounds lighter, but jumping on that scale every few days and seeing it go down makes me want to keep on and do even better.

I ordered 4 new Leslie Sansone walking dvds. Tried the first one this morning and it was pretty good. I'm actually thinking that I'm about to get off the computer and try a second one tonight. We are going to spend a few days with a friend of mine this week, and I've already warned her that I'll have to put in my video and workout at least once while we're there. So glad that I have this group and the few of you that are using MyFitnessPal who have friended me to keep me motivated and going.

Still up and down but my new low is 9 lbs. lost since joining this thread. About a lb. a week. I'm okay with that since I'm not doing any heroic dieting, can't expect more. Good to see others doing well and staying with the discussion.

Today was my weekly "official" weigh in. (I originally decided to just record my weight once a week so as to not get discouraged with fluctuations).

A small victory! I lost 3.6lbs this week. Which is really strange as for the past 10 weeks I've been averaging .5 to 1 lb/week. I will certainly take this loss!

That puts me at a total of 16.4 pounds lost and 18lbs to my goal weight for our December trip! :cool1:

Has anyone done P90x before? I'll be starting it once my current fitness plan finishes after 90 days. The P90x plan says I should be consuming 2200+ calories a day to keep up with the program :scared1: I will not allow myself to do that, as I've been keeping my calories around 1200-1300 for the past 10 weeks. At this point I can't even imagine where I'd find 2200 calories in healthy food lol

Has anyone here switched to a Primal/Paleo lifestyle? I'm considering making the switch because I constantly see people raving about how much better they feel after the make the switch. I'm considering starting Whole 30 (Primal for 30 days) on Monday and seeing how I feel at the end of it.

I never heard of primal paleo before your post but will read some more info. Is it mostly eating "real" food, not processed foods? The Take Shape for Life program I use strongly emphasizes that through it's Habits of Health guidance. The challenge is FINDING real food. Summer is easy but winter here in MD gets more difficult. Even in summer, many grocery stores carry few quality fresh foods.

I now buy all my meat, dairy, and eggs from a place that sells farm produce from several local farms. The free-range meats taste incredibly better than anything sold in the stores. Healthy, free-range, grain fed animals are going to taste better than a chicken that's been sitting in its own feces and being shot up with steroids or whatever. Their dairy (yogurt, milk, cheese) is fantastic.

The one thing I long for is real Florida strawberries. And when in Disney World we always ask for fresh big bowls with plenty. So sweet and delicious compared to the freezer burned junk here.

I'm really working on eliminating processed foods that have all kinds of chemicals I cannot pronounce, corn syrup, salt, and sugar. None of that can be healthy. Convenient yes... healthy no. My sensitivity to taste has increased since I stopped eating a lot of processed foods.

A long time ago, a nurse told me about the lack of minerals in food -- from eating food that was processed and not organically grown. A whole bunch of nurses starting taking liquid minerals as a supplement (colloidal minerals or something) and were swearing by the stuff for healing medical conditions like it was snake oil or something. Not sure if it was true... but I think there is some truth to the benefits of eating real food.

We even see a lot of marketing in dog food -- with the popularity of RAW diets, more natural ingredients, less by products and cheap grains like brewers rice... I look at the ingredients in my dog's food and I think he is eating more healthy food than me!!! At $75 for a 30 pound bag, it ought to be good!
