Disney’s Resort Massage & Fitness Spa Reviews

Heard that the facilities at the YC/BC gym are being refurbished, anybody know if they plan to enhance the facility or is this just a cosmetic refurb? I understand the lockers, sauna etc are part of this work.

I was just at Periwigs for a haircut and the beautician said that when they redo the facilities at Yacht/Beach Club there will be a new common reception area for the fitness center, spa and beauty salon . Your treatment person will come out to meet you and take you to your treatment room. She also said they are trying to make it more upscale and more in line with the better facilities on property.

Sounds good! Hope its complete for my November trip, however i think the work is scheduled to go on until mid / late November. The current facilities are pretty shabby for a deluxe, so this upgrade is welcome and long overdue.

GF spa re opening early December according to Disney Web site. Look forward to hearing some reviews.

I went to SSR. I get regular massages at home as I have a crummy back. The massage at SSR was great from a relaxation standpoint, but almost nil from a therapeutic standpoint. But in their defense the spa services are promoted as RELAXATION and pampering--not deep muscle, etc.

If you don't get massages or just want a special treat, I would still say "go!" but it IS pricey. I was also taken aback at checkout when I was politely reminded to tip and 20% was suggested....

Never been reminded about the tip before! Really Subtle! Lol

At which resorts can you get a massage, even if they don't have a full spa? We 're finally staying at a monorail resort this October (the Poly) where I would have easy access to the GF, and it's closed. Just my luck! Does the Poly give massages, particularly mommy to be massages? If not, Where would be the easiest place from the Poly? WL? Does the Cont have massage services? Or do only the spas offer prenatal massages? I know I had one at the GF 3 yrs ago.

Don't know about the Poly, but you can go to the CR or AKL or BW , YC is shut ( I think) ,also consider the Mandara at the Dolphin. Or SSR....have fun!

Hello fellow spa goers :)

We go to the GF every year when we visit the world. So when I found out that this year, it would be closed I decided to try out the SSR. Really wish I hadnt.

We did two days at the spa over the course of our week vacation. The first was a birthday gift to my sister and we both got mani/pedis. I want to first say that the two ladies that did our treatments were awesome! They were talkative and very nice. They were not the issue. The issue with the mani/pedis was that we paid 110 each and the polish came off two days later. When we get them at the GF, the polish that was used was Essie which is a quality brand. These were done with a polish that had a generic spa name. We didnt do anything different, not even a swim in the pool and the polish was chipped off and basically washed away in a very short period of time. We could get 39 mani/pedis at home and it would have lasted us weeks.

We decided that after a few days in the park with all the walking, that we wanted to do a massage to relax before we left. Since we were staying at the Poly we utilized the complimentary shuttle service that we had used the day of the mani/pedis. The Spa Receptionist asked us to be downstairs in front of our resort forty five minute prior to our treatments. We were downstairs in front of the resort 50 minutes prior. Minutes passed and after twenty minutes of waiting, the transportation director at The Poly came over and asked us who were waiting for. When he learned that we were waiting for the spa shuttle he immeditly got on his radio to find out where they were. He came back ten minutes later (which was fifteen minutes away from our treatment time) and said I dont know where they are, they are not answering their page. So he called us a cab and comped it to the Poly. We pulled away from the Poly at exactly the time of our treatment and we were told that the Spa knew we were coming and they knew why we were running late and that we should be all set.

We get to the spa and as soon as we walk in the door they say our names with a bit of an attitude. They asked us to follow them except they didnt take us downstairs to change they immediatly took us into our treatment rooms without allowing us to change. I had two huge bags with me and I was dressed in jeans and a shirt. When I got into my room my therapist said now we will be able to make up ten minutes of your treatment but the other ten you are going to have to forgo since you were running late. At this point Im like Hold On I was not late I was downstairs where I was supposed to be and your shuttle never showed up. She dismissed this by ignoring the comment and left the room for me to change. Now this entire thing is ruined. Im stressed out and upset with the way I was treated so I really didnt enjoy my massage at all.

When I got out of the treatment room and met up with my sister again I asked her if her massage was as horrible as mine. She said that she had to use the restroom so the therapist had shortened her treatment by twenty minutes.

Now Im angry, but I work in Customer Service I know how obnoxius it is to be yelled at by a customer so I want to keep my cool and I head to the desk to talk to the manager. She tells me that she is sorry for the inconveince and that she has no idea how this happend, she didnt know where the shuttle was. She took twenty percent off my treatment but honestly I now just paid for the amount of time that I was in the room. It didnt matter that the entire experience was ruined. Then she says our shuttle is on another run but if you would kindly wait a half hour he will be back and he can take you back to your resort. I tell her just as kindly that "no thank you we have reservations at the Grand Floridian for lunch" I wasnt about to get in their shuttle or kindly wait for it for a half hour.

The only saving grace this had was the gentlemen behind the desk. After his manager left he offered to get us a cab and have it comped to SSR but that we should just tell the taxi the resort is taking care of that. I wasnt about to get in a cab that is independant from the spa and tell him my fare was on the hotel. It was still really nice of him to offer so I told him no thank you but thank you for offering.

I will never return to the SSR. Ive been a Disney Spa Goer for the last five years and I can honestly say that I cant wait for the GF to be back open. There is no comparison.

Any reviews for Magnolia Spa at SOG? Are there service charges or any hidden fees on the treatments? Not staying there next week, but DH is Active Duty. Thanks!

If they shorten my appointment, I shorten the gratuity! Very bad service! Luckily this has not been my experience at SSR. Hang in there, the GF opens again in December!

I am new to massage and have been getting therapeutic massage on neck and shoulders weekly for 2 months, so I booked SSR looking for soothing, relaxing experience and I got it. I found SSR swedish massageto be just what I needed to relax and sooth my shoulders. I would say it is pricey, but worth an occasional treat and I am glad they didn't mention a tip amount because I find that rude and A turn off in any setting. Personally I gave 15% and I thought that was okay. I really liked the person I had.

I cant wait! Were headed back in June and as soon as the phones are back up Im calling to book my appointments!!!:)

FYI the Gym at the GF is now closed due to the ongoing building work. They have a temp gym set up elsewhere on site at the GF. Re opens in December.

I am glad to hear all of the positive reviews on the SSR spa. My fiance and I are getting a couple's treatment next week and I'm sure it will be delightful.

Just had a massage there last week (for the second year in a row) what a fantastic experience! DBF and I felt very relaxed and hope to do it again next year! Enjoy :)
