Hello to all other GF lovers!:flower3:

One more sleep  Thank you for the hug  Lab work and xrays tomorrow....safe travels!:flower3:

Lab work and xrays are never fun with our babies as I know this all too well. I will be popping in here while we are away to keep up with everything. Hoping all goes well for your little princess.:grouphug:

CoachBagFanatic, you must be getting so excited. I will say it again, I remember when you had 4 weeks to go and you didn't think you could make it! Have a wonderful time. :goodvibes I know k&a&c'smom was looking for a picture of the entrance (from outside looking toward the lobby) with the old car etc. WITHOUT family members :rotfl: Everyone seems to have a picture, but with posed family members...so I know she would appreciate that one! Safe travels, enjoy the YC and BLT. We have stayed in a one bedroom in BLT, it was great. So much room and 2 full baths :goodvibes

Thanks so much. Copy that. Picture of entrance with the old car and no one in the picture. Got it. Now if I can just keep people out of my photo. I am pretty good at that and I am sure DH will help me.

CoachBagFan, have a marvelous vacation! Can't wait to read your report on the GF.

Thanks again BCV23:hug:

Thank you. Although we aren't staying at the GF this trip, we will definitely be visiting on Wednesday. I am super curious as to the progress of the construction.

Hi everyone, we are back from our GF stay. Still crazy so my posting will be limited. My DD had a dance production she was in and that dominated my week after returning, and then we had to travel again for a summer program she is doing at Duke. So back to hotel living for awhile and the Hilton here is NOT GF:rotfl:

I will try to answer some of the questions I saw posted. There were no wired internet cables and when I asked I was told they no longer had them, so I guess the internet is now wifi only, YMMV. The marina hours were supposed to be until 6pm but a few days they were closed before so I would stick with 5pm. The high chairs looked like all the others I see in restaurants.

Now for the construction info, keep in mind I was informed by a few of the club concierge CM's in the main building and did have a nice discussion with a manager that provided some info but we all know all of this can change.

They were told the kid's club closure is permanent, guests calling IPO have already complained and the CM's really believe this will have to be re-thought. The beach pool work is scheduled to be finished in late Aug. (I don't see how) and then work will commence on the courtyard pool, a refurb to include zero entry. Gasparilla's and Sandy Cove will receive significant upgrades with Sandy Cove getting a market like they have at the Contemporary for more groceries and such. The game room in Gasparilla's may be going away, no final decision yet.

I think that is most of it, ask any questions and I will try to answer. I have some photos but I need to figure out how to post them.

Hello, GF lovers!!:goodvibes Sorry I dropped off the face of the planet, DD and I spent the last week visiting her brothers in two states!:drive:

We were so busy, I was not online most of the time - I know I've missed a lot here. Many of you have been to the GF and back again, when I get caught up at home I'm going to read all about it.

BCV23 - :wave2: So happy to see you, my friend. Great visit, as always.

Here is a mini review of our stay 6/7-6/17:

We had a queen deluxe in the main building overlooking the courtyard, so lovely views of the fountain and pool. The construction did not impact our stay, it was most noticeable at the beach pool but it did not bother us. We rented a cabana for a half day. There is a temp. bar set up at the beach pool. The courtyard pool was very crowded during our stay, we also used it more than we usually do. Played lots of ping pong.

Our room was lovely, and not as worn as our room during a previous stay although the bedspread was very tired looking. It was very clean. We again had a Keurig. I am completely baffled by this as no one else has reported having one and we have had them on all our stays since May 2010 I believe ( I am glad as I love the tea).

Our room was ready within a few minutes of our check in about 1:30pm, that evening we had a lovely amenity delivered and our turn down hostess put out our GF slippers, filled our ice bucket and closed the draperies. We do enjoy coming back to a room that has been prepared for the evening.

Our only GF dining was Citricos and private dining. The food in the lounge was fabulous this trip. The croissants and most other pastries are now being made at GF. The croissants were significantly better. Also, I don't know if I am just late in seeing this or if it just started but the lounge is now stocked with Sprite Zero and caffeine Diet Coke. As an aside we had the best breakfast at Tusker House, it was much better food wise than Crystal Palace and very well organized inside the restaurant for early morning diners like us who like to get out a little before 9am.

Except for the change to adding a pastry chef for the lounge breakfast and snacks were the same. Evening offerings included: duck pot stickers, fried ravioli, coconut shrimp, different sushi rolls plus all the normal offerings. We really enjoyed the eveing food and for some reason one evening for the children's choice they had the most delicious ham and cheese mini sandwiches. Maybe I was just in the mood for a cold sandwich but they stood out and they just were a kids version with american cheese on white bread with no crusts. Maybe because I don't let myself eat things like this at home. Anyway, the food just seemed fresher was constantly replenished and wonderful overall. My kids did complain that there were no brownies for the dessert offering this trip but I did not remember them anyway.

The monorail was down on a few afternoons as we were leaving MK. I don't know if this was construction related or just one of the now too frequent problems. We like to take the boat back anyway so this was of no consequence. They did have the larger boats servicing the resorts during these time periods so it may have been planned.

The CM's in the lounge were wonderful as usual and wonderful to my kids who just like to sit and chat Disney with them. Service at the resort and parks seems to be just a step above recent visits, all the CM's were very friendly and upbeat. Lots of tired and cranky guests in the parks. Everyone in the lounge wore appropriate attire and most of the children were supervised and/or well mannered.

Our only real complaint: valet service was very slow and disorganized on this trip. Was proud of my DD12, her keycard for elevator did not work one day when she was returning from the pool by herself but she solved her problem. She called my cell but I was in the pool and did not hear it. So she went to the front desk told them she needed a new key etc. They asked for ID :rotfl::rotfl: she told them she was 12 and did not have an identification card but gave them her room number and name on the reservation, home address and they issued her a new card.

We really enjoyed our stay even more than the last despite the construction. Will try to answer any questions, I do have some photos of construction and will look into how to post them.

Welcome home! Glad you had a Grand vacation!!! :goodvibes Thanks for the report!

Missed this, sorry!!! Is this your 1st baby? Sounds fantastic!!!

Yes this is our first baby. We are very excited. We find out a week before we arrive if it is a boy or girl. I can not wait to go baby shopping in Disney (I think my husband is more excited than me)

k&a&c'smom, what a fun trip that must have been. Spending time with your DD, visiting your DSs in their respective states and seeing BVC :goodvibes

baler31, thank you for the detailed trip report! You must be so proud of your DD12 who was able to handle getting a new card to get back to the RPC. Thank you also for the explanation of the construction at the two pools. It makes more send that they are starting the courtyard pool, after the work is done on the beach pool. Having both under construction in August didn't make sense. :confused3 I also think a refurb of Gaspirillas (with hopefully more seating) and Sandy Cove sounds great. I guess we are all going to have to be patient with all the construction, but when it is done the GF should be amazing!

That is awesome...make sure you let us know if its a Prince or a Princess :goodvibes

I have been trying to make an ADR for Garden View Tea Room for the last week in August. I am having no luck. I even tried to make it for times in November and December and I found nothing at all. I made an attempt at about 40 dates with not one time available. Do I have to make a reservation another way or is this harder to get into then Le Cellier? :confused3

It shouldn't be unless it's due to go down for refurb...

You know I have heard this before. We have stayed at the GF at least a couple times a year for the past few years, even at Christmas and Easter, and have rarely seen the Tea Room full. Hopefully k&a&c'smom will have an answer, but like I said, this is not the first time someone has posted this.

I have been having the same trouble for our October trip...last fall, And the fall before that, I had no problem booking this online, and as Jungle Cruiser said, the lounge is usually only half-full, at most...I am going to try calling instead.

:sunny:

Thanks, I think I am going to take my chances with a walk up. Even if I have to wait It's so nice to walk around. My wife has wanted to go to Basin White for about a year now. :thumbsup2

The tea room may have to be booked by phone. When the online reservation system first started, the tea room was unavailable; I have been able to book online a couple trips, but it's possible they have gone back to phone bookings.

If it were me, I'd give the dining reservations line a call.:flower3:

Thanks, Jungle Cruiser, we did have a wonderful time! I have had a lot of things to take care of since arriving back home, but I'm going to try to get caught up here soon.

baler31 - I haven't read your review yet, but will do so later today. :goodvibes Sounds like our hopes for the pool refurbishment schedule were realized - didn't make sense for them both to be done at the same time.

I have to run, my mom is going through tests for surgery, so I'll be driving her to the hospital in a little while. I'll try to get back online later today.:thumbsup2
