Our Gawrsh Darn Spooktacular Halloween TR ***Last Updates from Tracy 6/17***

Are you sure that is a kiss? It looks like he is trying to eat your head.:lmao:

Tusker House ressies are kind of wierd in my opinion. We had an 8:10 ADR in December (prior to park opening), and there were people in front of me with later ADR's getting seated before me. I think we were finally at our table by 9:00, which is about when I figured we would be done eating. Kind of messed up the plans for the day, but not too bad. Annoyed the crap out of me though.

I know! Goofy was the best character!!!

I was not impressed

Sorry you guys didn't enjoy Tusker as much, esp when you were trying it for the first time. September was just crazy manic for crowds, we waited about 40mins for one of our reservations and we had a reservation. Was not impressed!

We heard that the reason why it was so crazy busy was because there was not only free dining, but also an offer that ran out that week where there was 40% off resorts and FD together :scared1:
We didn't really have a lot of trouble with other restaurants so I think maybe this one is having a problem with this issue

Glen and I were disappointed in TH when we were there in May. They were running late for our reservation and then we were so tightly packed in it was hard to move around for the buffet. Our waitress sucked as well. It took 30 minutes just to get us drinks. :confused3

note: This is Glen) I was very dissapointed in TH... the only good part were the pictures with Donald. It will be a very long time before we go back.

So it will not be on the restaurant list for this trip?

Oh no on Tusker House taking walk ups and making you guys wait :headache:

We were late for our reservation and have to agree in that it will be a while before we return. However you drew the short straw with having to be seated in a small room and having a server who shouted at you...ugh what an unpleasant experience.

Love the character shots especially the one of Goofy trying to eat you! :rotfl: Btw where are those Krispy Kreme doghnuts? I can't see them on your plate!

Goofy was so sweet!!!

They had Krispy Kreme Donuts??????? :scared1:

That is disappointing about TH. I had put it on the maybe list for our upcoming trip, but I'm not so sure anymore. At least the characters were there to make it a little better.

I had hear a lot of good things about this place before my trip so maybe it has good and bad days. Maybe a 1st thing in the morning reservation would be better

I've tried to put Tusker House breaksfast on our list for our last trip and the upcoming one in June but it always manages to get cut. Guess I'm not missing out on anything.

Hope the rest of the day improved!

It might be worth a try, especially since there isn't another breakfast place in AK

They sure did and they were the best thing about the breakfast IMO!!!!

I'm pretty sure you had a similar reaction when I posted the news on my PTR! :lmao:

How did I forget that :headache:

Probably the frustration of the morning, I still don't know how I didn't see them :confused3

When breakfast was over we headed straight for a 2 weeks safari (stupid poachers, my safari was cut short and I packed and everything).

What do you think were the chances of a lion picture? Great! ..... of the tail. :lmao:

DSCF1082.jpg

Next we decided we needed some character time and where else would you go at AK to see characters than Camp Minnie Mickey.

We started off with Minnie in her safari gear since she was not at Tusker.

DSCF1098.jpg

Then we spotted Miss Bunny...

2011_09250059.jpg

Ariana wanted to give Miss Bunny some flowers she’d picked nearby :rolleyes1 and I wondered if she was going to be chastised for it, but Miss Bunny was happy to receive her gift. See her little blue bouquet?

Next we decided since it was 111 degrees and we were in the hottest park that we should really try to cool off. Where else would you go in AK to cool off than Kali River Rapids? Now here we go again, Emma has never been on this ride and I told her don’t worry it’s an easy boat ride :rotfl2: so now of course I was worried that she was gonna hate it and be pissed at me again.

Can you say ‘pissed’ in a Disney trip report? :rotfl:

On the way to KRR we ran into DeVine! This was the first time I had seen her and it was really cool to watch her move. Again I had Kingdom Keepers flashbacks while watching her :lmao:

I’d seen DeVine for the first time in January with the Spectrum Moms but this was the first time for my kids. They were both in awe of her... she’s incredible to watch. So much so that I only took one picture! :scared1:

We reached Kali and I was worried Emma was gonna back out.....

..... but she rode it and guess what ?

2011_09250068.jpg

She LOVED it!!!!! In fact the 1st words out of her mouth were “can we do that again” well it’s hot and we can’t turn that down so we rode again and she loved it even more the second time!!! Great another ride for Emma!!!!

This time I didn’t tuck my camera into the centre thingie in the raft. I love ride photos so I grabbed a few in between soakings.

When we finished with Kali it was time to head to Expedition Everest! On the way we found some water fountains the kids could play in and since it was so hot, none of them hesitated.

2011_09250080.jpg

Then we were off to EE.

2011_09250084.jpg

Tracy took all the kids on except Emma (there is no way she is going on this) and Emma and I took a look around the store. There was a really cute Yeti Kitty that we were looking at and I now regret not buying it, oh well next year :confused3

Some EE pics for your viewing pleasure.....

I wasn’t fast enough to catch the ride pic with Eryka and Demetri - just Ariana and me.

When they all came off the ride I went back on with the kids while Tracy sat with Emma (Thanks Tracy!) I am afraid of heights but I love this ride and love that I can see ToT from the top!

We wanted to make sure we saw the Festival of the Lion King this trip so we started heading in that direction.

First stopping to fill up our refillable mugs, I got a kick out of this sign above the water fountain.

2011_09250096.jpg

We came across the photopass photographer with Everest in the background so we stopped for some pics.

Then we stopped to watch the monkeys that wanted to show us their better side.

We’d lured them out of hiding by yelling that we had some bananas we wanted to share. :rolleyes1

2011_09250097.jpg

DSCF1134.jpg

Again I was having Kingdom Keeper flashbacks and I was worried those monkeys were working for evil and going to steal one of the kids so I didn’t want to stick around. :scared1:

Next we stopped at this cool looking bench to take some pictures.

Finally we were off to the Festival of the Lion King and we made it just before the show. We got great seats in the Lion section (the only section I have ever sat in).

I love this show so much and w skipped it last year to see Nemo instead and we won’t ever do that again. I do however take horrible pictures during this show :)

My pictures too were fairly crappy. My phone pictures seemed to be turning out better. I was once again really, really hoping one of our kids would be chosen for the parade part at the end but alas... not this time. Maybe next time!

Next stop on our list was The Tree of Life. Tracy knew the secret paths right up to the tree that I had never been on so I let her lead and we were off to find the tree. Now if you are a Tree of Life lover and have never been so close you can touch it (literally) then you need to find the path and get up close and personal with the tree.

Love, love, LOVED this part of our day. :goodvibes

Many, many pics coming at you!

When we were on the Safari I saw a girl wearing the cutest little stripped hat but I wasn’t brave enough to ask her where she got it. After the tree Emma wanted to go looking in the store because she wanted a baby Nala. Well unfortunately they were all sold out of baby Nalas so she went for the bigger Nala. While we were looking around I saw the hats!!!! The cute stripped one the girl was wearing was Cheshire Cat and they had Tink and The Mad Hatter! I love the Mad Hatter so I had to have it! I also got the watch that was the purchase offer.

2011_09250146.jpg

Natalie was sooooo excited to find this hat. Her smile was the brightest thing in the room :teeth:!

After we were done shopping we decided to get out of the park before we got trapped by the parade, but who can pass up the opportunity to hold baby Simba.

Photo0068FourBySix.jpg

Photo0072FourBySix.jpg

On the way out Ariana saw a picture opportunity she couldn’t pass up.

2011_09250147.jpg

How awesome is that!? Ariana was thrilled to see this little section for the Lion King. I loved taking this picture... I knew it would become one of her favourites!

And we were off on a bus back to Pop.

Continued in next post…………

Demetri took a shining to Emma’s Nala and the two of them had fun hamming it up on the ride back.

2011_09250149.jpg

2011_09250150.jpg

We stopped in Everything Pop for some dinner. I had the Chicken Penne which I love and both the girls had pizza.

I can’t remember what we had! :confused3 But I do remember I headed over to Concierge to pick up my tickets for our MNSSHP parties. The line was pretty short so as the food court staff were doing the Hustle :lmao: the kids were teaching themselves....

2011_09250153.jpg

2011_09250154.jpg

.... and I was enjoying the yummy goodness that a CM was handing out to those waiting in line. Yum!

2011_09250158.jpg

After dinner it was time for more swimming (we said we were gonna make time to relax and swim this trip and we are living up to it!) Off to the Hippy Dippy Pool this time and a drink for mommy. The kids entered some freeze dance competitions and made their way around the pool.

Of all our stays at Pop, we’d never heard of pool fun and events. It was so much fun to watch the freeze dance competition. Ariana was enjoying a leisure swim around the somewhat emptier pool and Demetri was in his element with the dancing. He fancies himself a bit of a break dancer so he was having a blast busting a move between freezes.

2011_09250167.jpg

2011_09250169.jpg

2011_09250175.jpg

Unfortunately right after this pic, he flipped right over and landed on his back. A bit hurting and a lot embarrassed, he sat the next few rounds out but quickly rejoined once he’d recovered.

The sun was setting on another gorgeous day and I was loving the swim time we were getting so far.

2011_09250179.jpg

After 8pm we figured we were waterlogged and it was time to get out of the pool. We went back to our room and changed. The girls and I decided we wanted to head out to the movie which was Toy Story 3. We stopped at the food court and filled our mugs and settled into some chairs in front of the big screen. We only stuck around and watched for half an hour or so and then headed back to bed.

I opted out of the movie (another thing I had no idea they did!) because I knew my kids would want to stay until the end. I didn’t even tell Ariana it was going to be on but Demetri found out and was mighty disappointed we weren’t going. After seeing him earlier with Emma’s Nala, I’d already decided to buy one for him as his souvenir, so I made a deal with him that we’d get her as soon as we saw her next. He was a happy boy once again and it was a nice quiet and relaxing night in our room. :goodvibes

Coming up next.... DHS

I am so glad to see that Emma like KRR. Maybe we can try and convince her to go on EE next year? Looks like it was a great rest of the day after the TH mishap! An no, no TH for next year. I would much rather spend my time sat Ohana or Chef Mickey's.

What a great update. Looks like a wonderful day at AK. I love that park so much. Glad that Emma enjoyed Kali River Rapids. :thumbsup2

The day got much better after TH and I do not have TH on my food list for the next trip, maybe I will try it again one day though

Good luck with getting her on EE :rolleyes1

I'm glad she liked KRR too because let me tell you it was REALLY REALLY hot that day and we needed anything we could get to cool off

Sounds like a pretty nice AK day. We haven't done KRR for a while, not a big fan and have been able to convince kids to skip it and go back to the resort to swim. :thumbsup2

FOTLK is my FAVORITE show!! :lovestruc We too skipped it once for Nemo and won't make that mistake again either. ;)

DD10 is so depserate to have one of those little fasinators, not sure if she wants the Mad Hatter or Cheshire Cat. We saw them in the new Mickey Monitor that recently came in the mail. Hope they still have them in June. Are they attached with an elastic strap or little headband?

I like your relaxing evening of swimming and hanging out, DH insists we have some of those kind of nights he won't go commando anymore. :rolleyes1

This was the first time we did KRR and we loved it!!!

Its called a fasinator??? Thanks!!!! They are attached with an elastic but it didn't bother me. I'm not sure if it bothered Tracy.

It has little elastic hoops where I thing you could put a headband in if the elastic bothered you

I love relaxing evenings! It really feels like a vacation!

Yep, that's what they called it in the magazine and I watched a lot of the Royal Wedding coverage and that is what they were calling all those little kind of funny looking hats at the wedding.

I just put a headband on and it worked so either way!!! :thumbsup2

I love the pic of the lion tail!

Thats so sweet Ariana gave Miss Bunny flowers. River always wants to bring cheese for Mickey. I tell him he is to busy meeting all the people to eat it.

We've never seen DeVine I would really like to find her.

Thats great Emma loved KRR! I've never done EE I'm to chicken. Does it have a big stomach drop?

It looks like you guys had so much fun at the pool. We were never there for the games and I don't think they were doing the movies yet when we were last there.

I can't wait to see what happens next.
