and this is why I didn't start a PTR... change number one for my vacation

I am now going Sept 29 - Oct 7 Staying at Port Orleans Riverside with Deluxe Dining.

I didn't really like the idea of going in August cause I will melt and we have friends going in Oct so it would be nice to spend a little time with them. I have always wanted to do deluxe dining and since I am not staying at a deluxe resort why not

Another router bit the dust in our home I think a few of those hitchhiking ghosts followed me home and were determined to be mischevious with my electronics. Back to normal now though and Natalie will have our next update posted soon!

Day 3: Sunday September 25th


Park: Animal Kingdom


Reservations: Tusker House Breakfast


It’s a very good thing I took notes on the trip because they really help jog my memory for certain things.


I was up at 7am and quickly showered and woke up the girls. We stopped for drinks at Everything Pop and headed to the bus. We had an early breakfast at Tusker House!


Temps were already hot at 8:30am and we were heading to Animal Kingdom. Yikes! I remember already very much looking forward to our swimming plans later that day. Demetri was once again making good use of our misting fans and drinking his lemonade. Good thing because it took a while for an AK bus to pull up.

We got to Animal Kingdom and headed right for the restaurant (I didn’t even stop for a picture although I think Tracy did)


Yep! Literally while on the run

We got to TH and were informed that they were running 25 minutes behind. Our reservation was for 9:15 and it was now 9:30.

Now this is something that really ticks me off and I am glad it doesn’t happen to me very often. I would love to know how many walk ups they seated that morning that put my reservation behind and why did I get up at 6am 6months ago to make this reservation if they seat walk ups??? The real problem is this is the 1st time I have eaten here so now I have a bad 1st impression and it takes a lot for me to get rid of it.


We waited (and waited!) a long time past our reservation time before being seated. This is the second time I’ve eaten at Tusker and the same thing happened to us the first time. That first time was offset though by great service and a chance to eat off of both the breakfast and lunch buffets in one sitting. Today though......


We did the pics outside with Donald Duck while we were waiting.

At 10:00 we were finally called to be seated. We were led to our seat, if you go in past the buffet, make a right, go all the way to the end of that room and make another right; there is a little room with 3 tables…. That’s where we sat


Alright whatever we will deal with it but then we had the worst waitress in the world


Yeah it sure wasn’t the smartest setup. Those three tables in this little room were six seaters each and we were squeezed in there so tightly – a minor inconvenience if you are being served but not great when you’re going back and forth to a buffet. Factor in a waitress that barely came to the room and would then shout everything to all three tables at the same time.....


Wasn’t there something weird about how your tea eventually was served to you....?


I know she brought the huge box of tea and left it in my spot so when I got back with my plate I had nowhere to put it. I believe I took a couple bags and moved the box out of the small room.


So how was the food? It was good, typical buffet food… nothing to write home about (except the juice).


I enjoyed everything I chose, but I admit I didn’t put a whole lot on my plate. I only went once.

The characters however were great as usual and that is the real reason we do these meals isn’t it?

Then I told Goofy that I told my friends I was gonna run away with him and he gave me a big kiss. Maybe not the best kiss I ever had but definitely the funniest and I love a funny man!

The girls got birthday cupcakes and cute cards again. Two meals and two celebrations already on this trip!

It will likely be a while before we do Tusker House again. I’d rather do a counter service lunch and be a bit more constructive with the park time.

So sorry to hear the meal was not so great! My brother and I did the Nemo package a few weeks ago and they were also on a 30-45 min wait (and taking walk-ins). We were also in the same area I think. We sat at the last table in this little area that was next to the emergency door and I think there was a table of 6 next to us and it was a pretty cramped area! My bro and I both agreed that when they change to lunch they will have to reduce their number of walk-ins or it will be a nightmare!! I wasn't so wild about the food. I hear it's similar to Boma dinner which I've never had but don't really have a desire either.

Sorry to hear it took so long at Tusker House and that you had a bad table and a bad waitress. That really cuts into your park time. I always feel so rushed at that park because they close so early. We are usually at the parks until midnight or later but not AK. The pictures with the characters look great!

I can't wait to see what happens next.

I would be in a very bad mood if a server was shouting everyone. That is unacceptable, especially at WDW. Not magical at all.

The pictures were great, although I think someone needs to teach Goofy how to kiss, it looks like he is trying to bite you not kiss you.

Goofy was very sweet and he can kiss(swallow my head) any day!!!

I didn't see for sure that anyone was a walk up and had I, I would have said something for sure. I'm sorry that people get there and didn't know better to make their reservations but I did get up early 6 months before my trip so I wouldn't waste time waiting for a table

Are you sure that is a kiss? It looks like he is trying to eat your head.

Tusker House ressies are kind of wierd in my opinion. We had an 8:10 ADR in December (prior to park opening), and there were people in front of me with later ADR's getting seated before me. I think we were finally at our table by 9:00, which is about when I figured we would be done eating. Kind of messed up the plans for the day, but not too bad. Annoyed the crap out of me though.

Sorry you guys didn't enjoy Tusker as much, esp when you were trying it for the first time. September was just crazy manic for crowds, we waited about 40mins for one of our reservations and we had a reservation. Was not impressed!

We heard that the reason why it was so crazy busy was because there was not only free dining, but also an offer that ran out that week where there was 40% off resorts and FD together

Glen and I were disappointed in TH when we were there in May. They were running late for our reservation and then we were so tightly packed in it was hard to move around for the buffet. Our waitress sucked as well. It took 30 minutes just to get us drinks.

note: This is Glen) I was very dissapointed in TH... the only good part were the pictures with Donald. It will be a very long time before we go back.

Oh no on Tusker House taking walk ups and making you guys wait

We were late for our reservation and have to agree in that it will be a while before we return. However you drew the short straw with having to be seated in a small room and having a server who shouted at you...ugh what an unpleasant experience.

Love the character shots especially the one of Goofy trying to eat you! Btw where are those Krispy Kreme doghnuts? I can't see them on your plate!

That is disappointing about TH. I had put it on the maybe list for our upcoming trip, but I'm not so sure anymore. At least the characters were there to make it a little better.
