Counting Our Nuts Like Chip & Dale, a Financially Aware PTR *Update 4/17 Pg 62 *

First off congrats on being pregnant and with a little girl, so sweet. I can't remember if I have ever commented on any of your trip reports, but I have read them. And when I saw a comment on Brook's trip report about taking Henry at what age to Disney World, I was like oh I wonder if she is pregnant. So I had to rush over here and find out for myself.

So happy for you guys. And I know you are gonna love seeing Disney through the eyes of your little girl. It's even more magical. We took our son for his first time at 18 months, which was a great trip, just too hot.

Again congrats and can't wait for your first trip report with your little girl.

Our boy name is....
Henry Burke.
Our girl name is.....
Violet Jane

I mentioned this on Facebook but I LOVE both names! Of course I love Henry ;), but Burke is so cute with it! (mine is Henry Jacob) And Violet Jane is so pretty!!!

This picture is just awesome. :cloud9:

And if you've bought some little girl stuff I think you need to share it! ::yes::

Glad you have power finally! I still can't believe it...snow in October..how many inches did you guys end up getting?

I love how your parents have their baby gender guess represented by what color shirt they have on! :thumbsup2
I am not sure how much we ended up getting but it wasn't just a dusting, that is for sure!

I asked everyone to dress in pink or blue for their gender guess and it turned out really well!

I love this picture! How fun to be able to start buying cute little girly outfits!
Oh I have been having SO much fun buying stuff.

I love that idea of having a party to tell everyone the gender of the baby, how cute! :cool1: Glad you got your power back, I can't believe this New England weather lately...I'm dreading this winter, I hope it's not too awful! :scared1:
The party was a really fun way to tell the grandparents at the same time. Plus it was fun to have everyone together and talk about the baby.

I am dreading this winter too. I just don't want to deal with the snow.

You`re parents are too cute, they look so happy. I`m soo obsessed with Etsy. My cousin makes and sells dresses on Etsy, she said she`d make me dresses if I find fabric that I like.
I just love my parents, they are so super adorable.

Oooh, can you message me her shop name so I can check her out? I am so addicted to Etsy, haven't bought anything on there yet but it's only a matter of time!

What a great idea for a party. I love the picture of your parents! So cute in their pink and blue!

Congratulations on having a baby girl. Girl's clothes really are so much cuter than boys! I did guess girl, right? Yup - because she is going to be a daddy's girl through and through!
My parents are pretty cute.

You did guess girl! She is so going to be a daddy's girl all the way. I have a feeling she will have Daddy wrapped around her little finger.

What great pictures from your party! You had it decorated soooo cute. I love you dad's shirt.
My mom made the shirt, I was surprised he actually wore it but he was convinced that baby was a girl.

It looks like the party went well. You both look so happy. Congrats on your baby girl. :cutie:
We are really happy. It was a fun party!

Congrats on a BABY GIRL!!! Little girls are so much fun! :goodvibes
I'm so excited! I'm really happy that she is a girl, I would have been just as a happy with a boy but I am so excited for the pink!

Love, love, LOVE your excitement in the video especially when you were poking Marc to hurry up so you could open the box. So happy for you both!!
He wasn't paying attention, I was ready to tell everyone! I was afraid I was going to slip. :rotfl:

Thanks for reading along! :goodvibes

I am really debating what month I want to take Violet in for her first trip. I'd really like to go in 2013 but we shall see. :confused3

Burke is my mom's maiden name and there are no boys to carry it on so we thought it was a nice tribute.

Yes, little girl stuff has been bought. I will try to take a few pictures for you.

Congrats on havung a princess! Fun video and pictures!
Thank yoU!

I second that, let's see the first of the girly stuff!!
Okay, I will work on that this weekend.

Awwww a princess:!!!

Congrats momma! They are so much fun :goodvibes
I'm really excited to have a little princess!

I got chills when the balloons floated out! Congratulations to you!

You look so cute and so happy!

I JUST LOVE BABIES!!!! :lovestruc

Love seeing the party pictures -- those colors on Violet's banner are so lovely! Are those the same prints you are going to use in her room?

I'm late to the party but I'm joining in. Going back to read from the beginning.

OK, I went back and read all the links. Congratulations. What a neat idea to reveal the gender. Very clever. I love the name Violet Jane.

It was such a fun party, I'm glad we did it. I was so happy that day, well I still am. I just can't wait for Violet to be here.

Yes, my mom "Nana" has already started the quilt. We have a cute touch up our sleeves with the room decorations but I'm going to wait to post pictures of it so you can all truly appreciate it. :thumbsup2

How about a trip related update? Sound good? Sounds good to me!

I have been debating the time of year that I want to go to Disney. I have two options that I'm thinking about. I need thoughts and opinions of those who have traveled with babies and kids.

#1. January 2013.

I love going in January. I have been in Jan. '10 and '11. I love the low crowds, I love the short wait times, I love the weather - cool and comfortable for this New England gal.

I'm uneasy about January for the simple reason it maybe be too chilly for Violet. Maybe I'm overthinking things. I know that I'm comfortable in January with long sleeves or a hoodie for the mornings and evenings and then I can usually just wear a tshirt when it starts to get warmer.

#2. September 2012 or September 2013.

The two trips Marc & I have taken together have been in September. We love being able to swim, the weather is on the hot side, especially in Sept. '10. I tend to be more cranky in the heat with less patience which could be a bad thing traveling with Violet for the first time. I also don't like the time frame, I think September '12 will be harder to travel with Violet as she will not even be six months old, plus we are renting a camp with my parents in August so Marc getting vacation time could be an issue. September 2013 seems waaaaay too far away for me. It would be 3 years since our last Disney trip together. I just wonder if the weather would be better for traveling over January.

What do you all think? Am I overthinking this?

YOU? Overthinking? Nah! ;)

I say go in January. You can bundle up Violet and she'll be fine. I think making it less stressful for you - low crowds, not so hot/humid weather - is the best idea. Some things will be in refurb - but really, that's not that important. I'm sure you won't be taking Violet on Splash Mountain anyway! She'll be older, but you won't have to wait so long.

Plus, won't you want to get out of New England in winter??? I know I would!

I personally would probably go in January. This trip in September had probably the hottest temperatures I have ever been in! There were days that in the afternoons I didn't know if I could keep walking with the heat! God bless the frozen drink stands! I got a heat rash on my ankles! People were cranky and sweaty and there were definitely more crowds this year.

January would probably be ideal for you guys! Bundle that baby up and you'll be all set!:goodvibes But seriously, if you dress her in long pants and a sweater and she has blankets, I'm sure she will be just fine! Plus you'll be going indoors a lot so you wont neccesarily spend a ton of time outside all at once. My cousin is taking her daughter (born in May 2011) in December so I'll see if she has any insight for you when she gets home!

I vote January too LL. I think colder is better because you can just bundle her up and it's not like it's going to be COLD, like New England cold, it may just be slightly brisk and warm up during the day.

I think you're absolutely right, traveling for the first time with Violet to Disney, with you and her not being hot in September and the crowds being low, you'll have more patience and be able to enjoy everything more with her!

I agree with PPs... January! Now I might be biased as January is ALSO my favorite month to visit :lovestruc ... but I think you'll have a much better trip then. You guys will be able to enjoy it at your own pace and not feel the need to run around, plus the weather in January is a lot nicer than when it's hot as heck in September. I have a lack of patience for hot weather, so I'd much rather go when it's a little cooler and bundle up if necessary.

Also, we might be trying to do a January 2013 trip as well! :)

I have this problem where I read updates, and then go back and catch up on other subs, and never end up responding to anything. LOVED the video! The way you guys chose to do the gender reveal is so different and awesome.

Hmmm...I can't handle heat and humidity very well, so I also vote January for going with Violet. I also have to say, reading how much you love going in January has me super excited that that is when we're going...we've pretty much never experienced low crowds so it will be like a whole new Disney for us!

I know you wanted opinions from people who have traveled with kids, but, well, I'm just not me without having an opinion too! :rotfl:

My vote is definitely for January 2013 too. The weather can be a little chillier, but as long as you plan for that and take a bit warmer clothes, you'll be fine! The lower crowds and lower temperatures are sure to be less stressful too!
