And They Lived Happily Ever After - A June '11 Disneymoon TR! THE END - NEW PTR!

What a lovely first night!!! :goodvibes I make the 'Ohana recipe bread pudding several times a year at home - it's amazing!!! But I've never actually had it at 'Ohana! :rotfl: It's on the to-do list though! Sounds like an amazing viewing area for Wishes! :goodvibes Can't wait to read more!

I should make the 'Ohana bread pudding sometime! It would be nice to be able to have it when I wasn't so stuffed from all of the food there! :lmao:

That is a lot of food!! But it looks like very delicious food. :thumbsup2

I love the dress you wore this night, it's very pretty. Sounds like it was a perfect way to spend your first honeymoon evening. :lovestruc

I love watching Wishes from the Poly, it's a nice way to spend the night, see the fireworks and not have to worry about the Magic Kingdom crowds.

Thank you! It was a perfect way to start the honeymoon - nice and relaxing and romantic. :cloud9:

The good thing about not checking the DIS for a while is that I get to read TWO great updates on your TR!

Reading about your Poly arrival really reminded me about all the great things about that resort. I think I am finally over my room experience and can go back to loving the place again!

So that singing lady is just obnoxious. When we were there in May, I couldn't help but get the impression that she thinks she's 'famous' and those kids should be honored to work with her. She was being so demanding when teaching them the dance, it was getting annoying listening to her correct them over and over when we were just trying to enjoy our dinner. I like the guy entertainer much better!

I'm glad you are finally feeling better about the Poly! I actually thought about you guys when we were checking in. I was hoping that we wouldn't end up with a dirty room like you!

I had no idea there was a man entertainer, too! I've never seen him before!

I love watching Wishes from the beach of the Poly, it's a much more relaxed atmosphere. Perfect way to end your arrival day!
I can't believe people kept thinking you were a teenager. :confused3 I would've thought the wedding bands would have been a hint that you weren't a kid.

Yeah, you would have thought the rings would have given it away! I guess we should have worn our Just Married buttons, but I thought it might clash with my dress! :lmao:

How rude of that singing lady to say that! :headache: I've been to 'Ohanas about 15 times and she is ALWAYS there, I never get the guy. Her voice grates on me and the way she keeps talking over and over on the microphone about the kids or whatever. We ask for a table around the side of the restaurant when we check in and we've been pretty lucky not being right next to her so the noise from the restaurant kind of drowns her out. I would love 'Ohanas even more (if that's possible :) ) if they would just play nice Polynesian music and have a designated area where the kids can do their things instead of all around the restaurant.

Anyways, off my soap box now, what a perfect first evening at WDW! I always love arrival day/night when you feel like you have tons of time left and are just so excited to be there :cloud9:.

I never even knew there was a man - we've never gotten him either, but I sure hope we do next time! I agree that they should just do nice music, or maybe even have some sort of cut-off for the "entertainment" - like from 5-8 they do the kid stuff and then the rest of the night it's a little more adult friendly. :confused3

Wow! I cannot believe how the "entertainment lady" talked to you. I can feel your pain though, I am constantly getting mistaken for a teenager. Sometimes I don't know if I should feel complimented or offended by it :lmao: All things aside, I'm glad you had a nice meal at O'hanas - it's our new favorite as well!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who apparently looks younger than I am! It sounds like it happens to a lot of us. I guess that will work well for us as we age, at least!

:confused3 I don't know why but I have a classic trend of being called young at Disney too... I know I look younger than I am but it always seems to be worse at Disney!

When I first turned 21 I was staying at the Boardwalk with my parents and went downstairs to get a cup of coffee one morning. The lady working asked if I was even old enough to be drinking coffee
The ME driver that trip was also very surprised to hear that I was 21... he thought I didn't even look old enough to drive :headache:

My last two trips I've had experiences ordering alcohol in World Showcase. Both times I've gotten drinks in the French Pavilion the bartender asks to see my I.D. then exclaimed "24! But that is my age too. You look so little!" And once in Japan when we were there with my parents and ordered a bottle of Plum Wine. She asked to see my I.D. and said something along those lines too "24? That's my age too! I would not have believed it!"

I guess they're just so use to dealing with younger people? It certainly gets old after a while though...

And don't worry, I never noticed the fireworks make shapes until we took a Wishes Cruise last December. DBF and I were sitting in the back of the boat when I exclaimed "Hey! Those fireworks make Christmas Presents!" :flower3: Needless to say I was laughed at. A lot.

Wow, I can't believe that guy thought you weren't even old enough to drink coffee! I can understand a waiter needing to ask for ID, but do they have to make comments about it? I highly doubt they would say - wow, 24 - and I thought you were 40! :lmao: It seems like they should have the same filter for either situation. :confused3

How rude of the entertainment lady to say that! I have the same problem at Disney. When we were there for my college graduation, I kept getting handed children's menus! I know I look young, but come on! Just keep telling yourself, when they're all old and wrinkly, we'll still be young and beautiful. :rotfl2:

I can't believe they gave you children's menus! Yeah, I guess it's a little irritating now, but we'll be glad one day!

It seems like you guys had a perfect first night. Well, except for the entertainment lady. If she would have made that comment to me, I would have said something snarky, like "do you want to see my id?"

That's just me though. ;) Can't contain the snark monster.

I should have said something to her, but I was in too much shock! I couldn't believe how angry she sounded!

How weird that you got such strange comments from the CMs there. Between the daiquiri and then the 16 yr old you must have looked really young! I think you should take it as a great complement! :goodvibes Btw, did cousin card you when you ordered the drink?

What a romantic night watching Wishes! Did they pump out the music to the beach?

Yes, our "cousin" carded me. I definitely don't think he believed I could have anything with alcohol in it! :lmao: And yes, the music was pumped in! I was worried it was going to be a little too quite to get the full effect, but it's actually really easy to hear everything.

sounds like a lovely first evening :goodvibes - nice to stay 'local' after the long drive there!

That is strange about the entertainer and server making comments about your age?! :confused3 Ohana was one of the few places we got ID-ed this trip (joked we must be looking old now ).. the server told us every single soft drink and soda that was available.. then I said "can I have a Lapu Lapu please?" :cutie:

Looking forward to reading about the next day!

Emma princess: x

That is too funny! I guess the waiters at Disney are so used to telling kids what they can have that they sometimes forget about the adults!

Great update, I love 'Ohana! I can't stand that entertainment lady, I wish there were times you could go and she wouldn't be there! :rotfl: She's the reason Brandon isn't looking forward to going back this year!

Watching Wishes from the Poly beach sounds amazing, if we don't watch Wishes in MK on the night of the 40th anniversary, I'm definitely watching from the Poly! :thumbsup2

I agree! I think it would be nice to have a few days (or even a few hours) where you don't have to worry about that woman being there. She's just a little too much for me! :headache:

I love 'Ohana! I tried it for the first time on a trip last April and instantly fell in love. I loved everything about it, especially the Lapu Lapu! :rolleyes1

You guys looked really cute in your outfits with your leis. I've never watched Wishes from the Poly before, but you've convinced me to give it a try!

We love 'Ohana, too! I'd say it's probably our top favorite restaurant at Disney (we have a lot of favorites!) Definitely try Wishes from the beach sometime if you have the chance! It is a great view and much more relaxed than watching it in the park!

Hello from another Georgian! Your wedding pictures are awesome. I can't believe the lady at O'hana's. Very rude. Looking forward to hearing about more of your trip.

:welcome: Thanks so much for joining in! What part of Georgia are you in?

Count me in as someone who can't believe the CM said that. Completely unnecessary!

But at least you had a nice meal! And I'm glad you got to enjoy Wishes from the Poly beach. I agree... it is a great viewing spot!

I agree - it was a very unnecessary comment! People really should think about what they say before they say it!

Courtney, what a perfect first night!! I LOVE the Poly-- wish I could get Zach to agree to stay there!
We cannot stand that woman at Ohana!! THere was a group of guys there our night who were celebrating a birthday and she was constantly fawning over them and screaming into her microphone. Awful! Sorry she was so rude to you guys!

I wish you could get Zach to agree, too! It's such a beautiful resort. It's going to be hard not to stay there in the future, but I have a feeling that the prices will probably keep us away. :headache: For a special trip, it's definitely worth it, though. :goodvibes

Can't belive that lady was so rude!!!

glad your first night at Disney was wonderful! I've never seen the different shapes during wishes, so don't feel bad!

Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I kept saying "look, it's a star!" :lmao:

Congratulations! Your wedding pictures are beautiful! I'm loving your honeymoon report thus far - I had my honeymoon at Disney almost 5 years ago, crazy how time flies! I'm excited to read about the rest of your journey!

Thank you! And :welcome: So glad you're joining in!

I love your report so far. It sounds like you chose the perfect place for your honeymoon. Your dad sounds so sweet. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

Ugh! I am SO late and I'm already stuck down on page 10! I'm so glad you started your Disneymoon TR! I have been dying to read this one! It looks like you guys are off to a great start! I want to stay at the Poly SO badly! It's gorgeous! :lovestruc

What was up with that lady at Ohana? I didn't like her when we saw her in December. Plus, that's so weird what she said to Miguel about you. It's none of her business who he's with, no matter how old you look!

Haha, sorry. I hate it when people do stuff like that!

I can't wait for your next update! :goodvibes

I'm in :goodvibes

Can't wait to read all about your trip - I'm living vicariously through you until I get my fix in September :rotfl2:

:welcome: Thanks so much for joining in! What part of Georgia are you in?

We live near Newnan which is about 30 minutes south of Atlanta. How about you?

Yay! So glad you made it over Joni! :goodvibes We definitely feel in love with the Poly on this trip. It's so beautiful there! :cloud9:

It sounds like no one likes the lady at 'Ohana! Why is she there?!

I know exactly where that is! I'm in southern Gwinnett county, about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. It's a small world! ;)

DAY 1 – Pt. 1

Our first full day at Disney started off bright and early. I set my alarm for 6:30 and didn’t have any trouble waking up shortly thereafter! I quickly got ready and got our daily ziplocks out of the drawer (I just love how simple this method is)! By the time I had my park bag packed, Miguel had showerd and gotten dressed and we were ready to go! We followed right along with our running theme of being right on time and we left our room at 7:27 – 3 mintues before my planned 7:30

If you can't tell - we were really excited!

In to the GCH we went!

Since this was our first time taking the monorail over to the MK, I wasn’t sure exactly how much time we would need to make it to the park in plenty of time for our 8:05 ADR at Crystal Palace, while still leaving some time for empty park pictures!

Just as we approached the Poly’s monorail platform, a train pulled away, but luckily another was only about 5 minutes behind it! We climbed aboard and enjoyed the quick and easy ride over to the Magic Kingdom.

The park entrance was already pretty crowded, which surprised me since it was still over an hour away from rope drop. There was a CM standing out directing the guests with reservations, so we followed his instructions and entered through the side entrance with plenty of time to snap some pictures before we needed to check in at CP.

I was happy to see the PP photographers were all ready out since I had pre-ordered the CD for the first time and was determined to get my money’s worth! We stopped for a few shots and were told congratulations many times thanks to our Just Married buttons!

We wondered down Main Street and turned the corner to find that the CP entrance was just as crowded as the park entrance. We already knew that it was going to be a high-crowd week! Miguel stayed behind while I went to check in.

Luckily, it only took about 10 minutes before our buzzer was going off and my name was called. In to CP we went and we were led to our table that was decorated for our celebration.

Since we’ve only ever eaten lunch here, we were very excited to try the breakfast. I was especially excited to the famous puffed French toast. First though, we needed to visit with some old friends!

Pooh was so cute – when he saw our Just Married buttons he stood with his arms in front of his chest as to not make Miguel jealous! When Eyeore came by, he broke out of his sad shell and celebrated our honeymoon by “raising the roof”! I wish I had of caught that on camera. It was so cute!

Finally, it was time to make our way to the buffet!

Is it just me, or are the plates at CP really small? They seemed like appetizer plates to me. With so many yummy foods calling my name, I decided to remedy the situation by just taking two plates! I figured that would be easier than having to go back to the buffet and I don’t like piling my food on top of each other. From the left going clockwise I had the vegetable fritatta, raspberry crumb cake, Mickey waffle, sausage, bacon and a biscuit with gravy.

Plate number two had two pieces of the puffed French toast, breakfast pizza, strawberry yogurt and the potato casserole.

Miguel had no problem with pilling his up, though! From what I can tell, he had the potatoes, breakfast pizza, a piece of toast, regular eggs, vegetable frittata, bacon, sausage, and a strawberry.

We both really enjoyed our food. To me, the standouts were definitely the puffed French toast, the raspberry crumb cake and the potato casserole. The gravy for the buscuit was really good, too! There wasn’t a single item that I didn’t like.

About half-way through our meal Piglet and Tigger came over!

Piglet was just as sweet as Pooh and Eeyore and made a big fuss over our buttons. Tigger was pretty boring, though. I think this Tigger was just having an off day, because he had almost made it to our table when the little parade started and when it was over he just decided to skip over an entire section of tables until a CM finally reminded him that he had other parties to visit.

All in all, we really enjoyed our breakfast at CP. All of the food was really yummy, our server was sweet and attentive and nearly all of the character interactions were great. I’m not sure if we prefer breakfast or lunch at CP since they are both excellent options in their own way, buy I do know that we will definitely be back for breakfast!

Next Up: Some MK Fun

Ha ha, I say boo to small plates at the buffet!

Everything looks really good. I love being on a monorail resort, it makes getting to the Magic Kingdom so much easier.

That puffed french toast looks really good.....

I jsut spewed soda all over my computer screen!!! You plate (s) VS Miguel's plates!!!! LOL!!!! TOTALLy me and my DH!!!

And it looks like O'hana AND CP (bfast) are on my list for next trip!!! We did CP for dinner and enjoyed it, but it looks WAY better than CM for b'fast (which we have done twice)!

I was hoping you had posted something today...I started back to work after my 10wk maternity leave (I work 2, 12 hour shifts, Sat and Sun) so I was looking forward to coming home and reading something other than patient charts, and you didn't dissapoint!

Ummm HELLO!!! AMAZING wedding photos! You looked stunning---loved the dress, the hair and the earrings. You looked so classic. Excited to hear about your romantic get-away!

I Loved CP when we went there for breakfast on our last trip. Love Winnie the Pooh characters too!
The Puffed French Toast was a must-try and it was excellent! All the food there is pretty great :) I am glad you had a great breakfast experience there!

We have never been to the CP, or many other table service restaurants. I don't like to take the time and DH is too cheap. We are usually counter service all the way but we may have to try CP for breakfast. The food looks so good.

Breakfast at CP looked great. I've heard so many positive things about the puffed French toast...and it looked delicious in your pictures!
I thought the Eyeore and Miguel picture was hilarious. I don't think I've seen Eyeore put his ears on somebody's head before. :thumbsup2
Can't wait to see how you spent your MK morning!

Oh my goodness, I love breakfast at CP. I've never tried the puffed french toast though, so that's on our list of must tries. You guys are so cute with the characters!

I love Crystal Palace breakfast, it is so very yummy!! I think the breakfast pizza is my absolute favorite there.

Eeyore is just so darn cute!

All caught up!!! You are having a great first day so far!!! I hear you about being perceived as young. Firstly, I have JUST (at 33) stopped getting carded for R rated movies. Secondly, you would not believe how rude people were when I was pregnant (with my first, at 24, especially). People would GAPE at dh and I and ALWAYS look for a wedding ring. The best was when I was 9 months pg with my 3rd. We were at sam's club and I had my 2 nieces (11 and 9 at the time) with us. Dh had gone off, so I was pushing a 2 year old in the cart, and my 4 year old and 2 nieces were walking next to the cart. It was about to pop, I was so huge. 3 sets of people stopped and stared and one actually pointed. I laughed out loud when I realized I looked like a young mom with 4 kids and 1 on the way. I just smiled, waved, and went on my way! :lmao:

You are both cuties, by the way. I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!!!
