12 Days of Disney = 1 Happy Family! June 2011 TR (Update x2 7/19)

Because you can see the rails partially, but not entirely, so that freaks me out! My score on Buzz varies quite a bit too! Thing2 is sitting next to me and says that you're nice (I think she likes that you complimented her Buzz score) :rotfl2::rotfl: about Stitch! Too funny!! :rotfl::rotfl2:

Thanks Thing2! :goodvibes

Wonderful trip report and well written. I can't believe you are 14. I love the pictures of you and your sisters. I have two daughters that are 17 and 23. We started going to WDW when they were 3 and 9. Therefore, I especially love trip reports with pictures of little girls getting to meet the princesses. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks for joining in! I love reading TRs with little girls too! And there are lots of princess and character pictures coming up soon!:thumbsup2

I love your writing!!! Yes...I too can't believe your age! I really hope I've done my proper job brainwashing my love for WDW for my daughter and she is like you! ;) Seriously though...I dream of her getting married at WDW at wedding castle pictures...don't you?!?:thumbsup2

Thank you so much! Just make sure you take your daughter to Disney at least every couple of years (and maybe even let her help plan some) and I'm sure she'll love it as much as everyone here! Yes, I DREAM of getting married at Disney World! There was a Disney wedding special on a couple of years ago and I remember that one couple got married on the stage in front of the castle! :cloud9:

:rotfl:

Your track coach will be proud of your agility!!! Good job with the jump! Perhaps you should switch to hurdles? I am questioning whether or not Sophie has the Disney gene. I thought she did, but every time I ask her (87 times a day...ahem) if she wants to go back to Disney World, she looks at me like I'm crazy! What is with that? She did say that she isn't super excited because she keeps getting sick there (true...1st time she ended up with pneumonia and a 105.8 temp, and this last time she's had a really slow recovery virus with lots of fever and fatigue). Hello....child! That's what zinc and vitamin C are for...duh! She isn't terribly amused with my responses. :confused3.

And that is an AMAZING score for thing 2! I am seriously impressed. I got 191,000 and was bragging to my family how awesome I was. :rotfl:

Actually, I did the 100m hurdles the past 2 seasons. Sophie doesn't want to go back to Disney?!? :scared1: Pneumonia at Disney? That's horrible!! Poor kid! If it's any consolation, I'm amused by your respones! :rotfl: Last night I was explaining to Thing2 about renting DVC points and showing her pictures of all the resorts in hopes of inspiring her to help me plan. She decided that we will be staying at the Beach Club or Boardwalk on our June 2013 trip! She has expensive taste, but I have to admit, I agree with her choices! :rotfl2: I would be THRILLED if I got 191,000 too!

I'll try to have another update up later tonight. We are about to go help some friends cut up a tree that fell down and knocked over their fence, then have a cookout and swim. Should be a fun evening with friends!

When I last left off, I had just leaped over a suitcase tumbling down the stairs towards me! After about 2 hours of swimming and relaxing in the air conditioning, we took the bus back over to the Magic Kingdom! Before leaving I’d picked up a set of fastpasses for the Mickey and Minnie meet and greet. We decided to do that first, since we were right there. There was virtually no wait, so the fastpasses weren’t necessary, but I felt prepared having them. I guess I decided I didn’t want to meet Mickey and Minnie…

dsc_0146.jpg

After our meet and greet, we decided to go to Adventureland. When we first entered Adventureland we grabbed fastpasses for Jungle Cruise. There was just a short wait for Aladdin’s Magic Carpets, and soon we were flying above Agrabah (I think that’s how you spell it…).

dsc_0148.jpg

Then we got in line for POTC, which barely had a line either. Thing3 got a little scared on the hill, but she recovered quickly. After browsing through the gift shop for a while, we were all getting hungry. We decided on Columbia Harbor House for dinner. I know I got the sandwich with the hummus, which I enjoyed. Thing3 got macaroni and cheese, I’m pretty sure Thing2 got chicken tenders and I think Mom and Dad shared a fish basket. I LOVE Columbia Harbor House! I think it’s my favorite CS restaurant in Magic Kingdom. After dinner, we went back to Adventureland to use our Jungle Cruise fastpasses. I’d read somewhere that during the scene where the tribal people are all screaming, one of them shouts, “I like to disco!” and sure enough, I heard it. After Jungle Cruise we went over to Big Thunder Mountain again. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but I’m pretty sure Thing3 didn’t ride again. I know Thing2 and I did, I’m just not sure about Mom and Dad….Next, we decided to try the Haunted Mansion. That. Ride. Scares. Me. I know, I know, I’m a wimp. Even Thing3 wasn’t scared. For some reason, that ride just freaks me out. I clutched onto Thing2’s arm the whole ride. I did, however, enjoy the part where our heads got switched! After Haunted Mansion, we decided to head over to the Tomorrowland Speedway. I drove by myself, Thing2 went by herself and Dad and Thing3 rode together (Mom didn’t want to ride). Dad and Thing3 were behind me and Dad was NOT impressed with my driving skills. You see, I’ve been talking non-stop about how I’m able to get my learner’s permit in just a few months. Needless to say, Mom and Dad don’t quite think I’m reading for that (especially after last weekend’s off-road go-karting experience…here’s a tip, the go-karts are supposed to stay ON the road!). We decided it would be a good time to find a spot for the “Magic, Memories and You” show. We finally found a spot on the bridge to Tomorrowland. It would have been the perfect spot…except a really tall family came and stood RIGHT in front of us. While we were waiting, Thing3 noticed Tinkerbell’s wire. She was convinced that it was just a human zip-lining above us. Thing2 and I eventually convinced her that the CMs strap Tinkerbell to the wire, so in case she’s in one of her bad attitude moments when she needs to fly, they can just shove her out the window and she’ll still be seen by the crowd. She seemed to accept this answer. We stayed in that spot to watch Wishes also. I LOVE that show. It just makes me so happy! After Wishes ended, we decided to find a spot to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade. We found a GREAT spot in Liberty Square, sort of in front of Liberty Tree Tavern. It was only us and one other family, so we had PLENTY of room to spread out. While we were waiting, Dad ran to the Main Street Bakery to get a chocolate chip cookie for Mom and an oatmeal raisin cookie for him. In the meantime, Thing2 and I walked ALL the way to Adventureland to get ice cream for the three of us (Mickey Bar for Thing3 and I, Chocolate covered Banana for Thing2). Even after we got back, there was still a little while before the parade. As you can see, my sisters got pretty tired.

I LOVE that parade too! It just makes me smile! I have the music on my iPod, so I listen to it quite a bit! We debated staying another hour, since the park was open ‘til midnight, but Thing3 was beat and we needed our rest, we were meeting up with my aunt, uncle and cousin tomorrow! We rode the bus back to POR, took showers and went to bed! Thanks for reading!

Wonderful update!!! Can I adopt you? My 3 things need a big sister! You be our permababysitter and Scott and I could go to WDW all we want! :rotfl2: yes, I'm being selfish. I smell a Cinderella story here somewhere. :lmao:

I love the picture on the carpet. You need to photoshop your dad in and it would be a cute Christmas card!

I can't wait for the next update!

Oh, she didn't get sick AT WDW. It was when we returned. That would be terrible. Although Finn did end up in the ER on this trip (spoiler!). I think the drive is the other thing that doesn't thrill Sophie. We are likely going to MA next summer to visit scott's brother and his family. We will be driving (another 18 hour drive) and Sophie visibly wilted. The only thing that got her to perk was a trip to NYC with a probable jaunt into NJ to see Carlo's Bakery (Cake Boss on TLC).

We are thinking about renting points next trip too! Can't you all wait until 2014 so we can be trip buddies ;)? Scott works will a guy who will rent them to us for $11 a point (but he said he's been known to rent them for lower if asked nicely :lmao:). You all run into the same problem we do, though. 5 people is tricky! I looked up point calculators and the only 5 people rooms I could find for DVC are Animal Kingdom and Bay Lake Towers (MY dream!). Would you go for one of the two bedrooms at BCV or BWV?

I was scared of POTC and HM when I was little. When I first went to Disney World, I had my eyes closed through most of those rides! I love HM, it's one of my favorites, but I understand why it freaks you out. I hate the part with the doors and the bride is just CREEPY!

I have the music for the Main Street Electrical Parade on a cd. I listen to it in my car sometimes. :goodvibes

I'm not sure I'm avaliable for adoption....I think (hope :rotfl2:) my parents would miss me! What you need is your own Mary Poppins! Then you could have your permababysitter and you could go to Disney all you want! It would be a cute Christmas card! I'll have to mention that to Mom, then maybe I could get out of that little photoshoot by the fireplace we do every for every Christmas card!

Oh good! I thought that she got pneumonia AT Disney World! Oh no! Poor Finn! I suppose you're going to make me wait and find out with everyone else what required the trip to the ER? I was going to say maybe you could take the train to MA instead, but I'm not sure if there is a train that goes to from Chicago to MA and you might want a car when you arrive. Mom and Dad decided that my plan for a December 2012 trip was out, so maybe we can get Annual Passes during the summer of 2013 so we can come BACK in 2014 and have a little DIS Meet or something. It's a long shot, but a girl can dream! $11/point or lower! That's great! :cool1: Yeah, I've looked up the point calculators too! Surprisingly enough, no one in my family is interesting in Animal Kingdom Lodge. I liked the thought of Bay Lake Tower, but with the monorail hours changing, I'm not so sure anymore...I LOVE the thought of a 2 bedroom at BCV (or BWV for that matter) but boy, does that rack up the points! You need to change your signature then, it says that you're hoping for Art of Animation or FW cabins. Much to my parents dismay, I'll probably start another PTR after I finish this TR. I need a way to keep up with all my DIS friends! :rotfl2:

I think part of the reason I was scared is because, unlike lots of my friends, I don't watch a lot of scary movies. In fact, the only PG-13 movies I've seen are Thor, 17 Again and one of the Star Wars movies. Not exactly horror films! :rotfl2: I love listening to Disney music in general! It makes me smile!

Enjoying your TR!! Makes me want to go NOW!!!!
:rotfl:

You guys really had a great first day! I just love a before park opening ADR when you get to see MK without the crowds, freshly cleaned, etc. About that woman on SM  some people! Oh and I remember being scared of HM for a loooonnngg time. I'm sure I hid my eyes until I was as old as you. I was probably about 14 when I went to WDW with my parents for the last time. The next time I went was my honeymoon and I probably closed my eyes a little then too. :lmao: You really got so much done even with going back to the room for a break. Can't wait to hear more.popcorn::

Makes me want to go back now too! :rotfl2: I was there a month ago today! We did have a great first day! I really enjoy the before park opening ADRs too! It's one of my favorite parts of the whole trip! Yeah, the lady on SM was a little scary. I'm trying to get over being afraid of it, but for some reason it just freaks me out! We did get a ton done, even with our 3 hour break! I know we didn't do Laugh Floor, the Stitch thing, Astro Orbiter, Country Bear Jamboree, Liberty Belle Riverboat, Tom Sawyer Island, Hall of Presidents, Snow White's Scary Adventures or the carousel, but we did everything else!

I did not realize you had a TR going...can't wait to catch up on your trip!

This was one of the days Thing2 was most looking forward to, because we got to see Uncle R, Aunt C and K, our 12 year old cousin. We see them, at most, 3-4 times a year, so this was a big deal for all of us. Uncle R is my mom’s brother. Last year we traveled to Hawaii with them for their oldest daughter’s high school graduation trip and we had tons of fun together, so they decided to join us again. If anyone would like to see a few pictures or have any questions about that trip, feel free to ask! ANYWAY, back to Disney World! After our late-ish night, Mom and Dad thought it would be a good idea to let us sleep in. I did not agree. My plans called for us making it to Animal Kingdom for morning EMHs. As much as I love traveling with family, they don’t “get” Disney like we do and aren’t up for as much walking as we normally do. I wanted to get there and knock some of the attractions we wanted to hit off our list before we met up with them, so once we did meet up we could tour at a more leisurely pace. That goal was ruined when Mom and Dad didn’t wake us up until almost 8. I was instantly put into a sour mood because that was the whole reason I’d picked Animal Kingdom for today, to get there early! Mom and Dad didn’t quite understand why I was so upset. After rushing everyone through getting ready, we finally got to the bus depot and were soon on our way to Animal Kingdom! I just have to say, I love this park! Too often I forget about all of the fabulous theming that makes it so amazing! As soon as we arrived, Dad went and got Expedition Everest fastpasses for all of us (even though Thing3 isn’t tall enough) and we met at Triceratop Spin (or as we call it, Dinosaur Dumbo). We took this picture somewhere along the way...

355.jpg

We had a short wait and soon we were flying high in our dinosaur. After exiting the ride, Thing3 spotted Goofy and Pluto, so Mom took her to wait in line to meet them while Dad took Thing2 and I on Dinosaur.

361.jpg

Though Thing3 is tall enough for this one, we were all in agreement that she would have hated it. Our ride picture was hilarious, because Thing2 is sooooo scared, Dad is trying to comfort her and I look utterly bored. It helps that I knew the dinosaur was going to pop out, but my face still made me laugh. After we got off, we met Mom and Thing3 at one of the dinosaurs you can climb on. We had been texting Aunt C for a while and found out they were on the safari. We made plans to meet up with them at the Yak and Yeti CS place for lunch. Before heading over there, we decided to go and get fastpasses for Kilimanjaro Safaris for us. We purposely dawdled in hopes of meeting up with them over there, but we didn’t see them, so we just waited at the restaurant. It seemed like forever until they got there because it was so hot out. When they arrived, we had a little family reunion right there in the middle of…well…Asia. Eventually Thing2 and K managed to persuade the parents that they could chat while in line to order lunch. I’m not sure what everyone else got, but I just had some fried rice (snack credit). The portion was very large (I couldn’t finish it) and it was very tasty! I also shared some of Thing2’s frozen lemonade! Yum! Next we decided to ride Everest together. This was K’s first rollercoaster ever, so we were excited to see how she’d like it. Between our 5 fastpasses, their 3 and our baby-swap pass we had more than enough for all of us to ride. The first group to ride was Thing2, K, Aunt C and me. Throughout this trip report, you’ll probably notice that Thing2 and K are almost inseparable. They are fairly close in age get along great, which makes the distance between our families pretty hard because they miss each other. Anyway, I rode next to Aunt C and Thing2 and K were in front of us. Their reaction? They both loved it, though Aunt C got a little dizzy getting off. It took us a little while to find the rest of our group, but eventually we did. Aunt C and I said we’d stay with Thing3, so Mom, Dad, Uncle R, Thing2 and K went on. We decided that we needed some air-conditioning, so we headed towards Finding Nemo- the Musical. Once we got over there, however, we saw the huge line waiting to get in. Instead we went over to see It’s Tough to be a Bug. I’m not sure Uncle R, Aunt C and K enjoyed it, but any time spent with family is a good time. Mom suggested going to see the Festival of the Lion King next, so we headed that way. We saw/heard some interesting things waiting in line for that show…There was a guy with one of those mini, disposable tooth brushes brushing his teeth in line. There was also a man talking about how he had pneumonia or some other illness. It was just kind of weird…I have to say, I love that show! As we were exiting the show my dad and I had this conversation:

Thing1: So Dad, I decided what I want to do when I grow up…
Dad: Oh? What’s that?
Thing1: A TUMBLE MONKEY!!!!
Dad: Great! Can you get me front row seats? I love the Tumble Monkeys!

Needless to say, he was very supportive of my desire to become a Tumble Monkey! It was about time for the parade, so we decided to try and find a spot. Nobody really wanted to sit on the ground, but there were no benches available. Behind one of the tattoo stands there were about 5 tables with small stools. The tattoo artist guy said that we could move them up in front of the stand so we’d have a front row spot AND somewhere to sit. We moved about 6 of the stools up there, lined them up and created our own bench. The music from that parade just makes me want to dance! But, for my family’s sake, I stayed in my seat and didn’t dance. After the parade, we made our way to the Nemo show for the second time that day. Would we actually enter the theater this time? Yes we would! We didn’t even have to wait in line! Yet another musical I love! For days after this, Thing2 and I would random start singing, “Together….we swim together...”! Sometime earlier we had all picked up fastpasses for Kali River Rapids. Mom didn’t want to get wet since we were having dinner at Boma and Thing3 was scared, so they played on that dinosaur again. Before we rode the rapids, Mom took a before picture of us...

363.jpg

Thing3 and K ended up in the “lucky” seats! As you can see from the picture, some of us got very wet!

365.jpg

We parted ways with Aunt C, Uncle R and K for a little while. They had a date with Dinosaur and we had fastpasses for the safari we needed to use. We made plans to meet on a bench outside the park when we were done.

Coming up next- “Are these things real?” and “Why do we keep stopping?” Thanks for reading!
