Howdy! FW Cabin FAQ Thread!!

nobody cares about tipping the poor delivery guy, huh?
I have never used the grocery service, but I have read numerous posts where people either have arrived at their cabin and their delivery was already inside or they've been away when the delivery occurred and the groceries were inside.

Based on these reports, I'm guessing you would have to include the tip when placing your order to have a better chance of ensuring the delivery guy received a tip.

Just got back from our FW/CR vacation! Was great!!! I have started a trip report with tons of pictures from the pool, Chip n Dale sing-a-long, HDDR, MBYBBQ, and scenery from the campgrounds. Fort Wilderness is just beautiful...very peaceful and a nice get away from all the hustle and bustle of the parks. The golf cart was really nice to have, also...kids loved it!!! I have very positive things to say about FW...not too many negatives;)...everything will be in the TR.

Happy travels!
Heather

Heather, you've awakened a dead thread:thumbsup2. Can't wait to hear about the room cleanliness/condition & mattress quality that I was wondering about way back in April:hyper:

Yeah!!!! :cool1: Someone is posting on this tread! My Disney family and I will be staying at the cabins in October and I'm nervous about the space. There are 3 adults and 3 children ages 13, 9, and 8. I'm not looking forward to the double beds... but ...

I'm lokking forward to your TP.

Good question ! Anyone know ? For example, say you go to the MNSSHP on the boat and come back late would your cart still be there ? Is it okay to leave it so long ?

We rented a golf cart for our stay in April. We would park at the Marina in the morning and return MANY hours later in the evening (sometimes, early morning hours) and never had our cart messed with. It was always exactly how we left it, including the pack of cigarettes my DH left in there. :confused3 We also left it while attending the HDDR and MBYBBQ, and it was just as we left it when we came back. :thumbsup2

We did the grocery delivery. I will do it everytime we go!! They delivered the groceries before we got there. When we walked in our cabin for the first time, all perishables were in the fridge and non-perishables were on the table. We did put a tip on the order when it was made. There are 3 people that split the tip, the one taking the order, the one doing the "picking" or shopping, and the delivery person. It was well worth it!!:goodvibes

Hi Everyone! We are going to the cabins August 28-Sept 2. Anyone know how much it is to rent a golf cart? Is there a particularly favourable cabin area to request?

Looking forward to hearing from you?

It's around $60 per day and well worth it! Although...someone posted on my TR that there is another place that will rent carts for about half the price and they will deliver...if you click on my TR link below, the info is on there...don't remember off the top of my head.

Happy Planning! You will really enjoy the campgrounds!!!

Almost forgot...just my opinion...but if you have a golf cart, I can't imagine there being a 'bad' cabin location. It was so easy to jump on and go...never took us anytime to get anywhere with the cart. Some of the FW experts might have better insight on that question.

We have never been there before so I am just trying to figure out the lay of the land. We will be driving there and we just booked our trip yesterday. Any other tips about the Cabins would be great!
Thanks!

Have you ever looked at Allears?? It's a great site with tons of information about everything at WDW. Here's the link.....

Allears

Hopefully this will help. I believe it also gives you a map of FW...I believe there's like 700 acres +....tons to do!

Happy Planning!

I had forgotten about Allears. I just went there and found a lot of information. You are great! Thanks for helping.

Glad to help! The DisBoards has a wealth of information...it's the best!!! I'll be posting more pictures of FW in the next couple of reviews on my TR. I'm a morning person and love getting up early, early, early to make pics of any resort...unfortunately, I didn't get but 1 chance to do this at FW...the scenery and wildlife there is incredible! Honestly, I could have spent several mornings there flashing pictures and riding around on the golf cart....I think I need to plan another trip to FW...really soon...maybe just for the weekend:rotfl: I can hear DH now..."you want to pay $300 a night just to make pictures!??"

Heather, your TR is great so far! We stayed at FW a couple of years ago and loved it (I think our favorite resort so far). You are inspiring us to stay there again some day!

Heather, did you get your golf cart from Disney or did you through TeeTime Golf Cart Rental (Kenny). Which did you choose and why? We are just trying to make our decision. Great TR.....very informative! Looks like you had a great time!

I know I'm not Heather, but I thought I'd offer my two cents :rolleyes1
I've stayed at The Cabins twice now, and both times we just rented golf carts from Disney. It was just more convenient to go up to the check in desk and rent your cart for the week, then walk outside and get in it and go! It seemed like the majority of people did this. I saw very few carts from the other golf cart rental places while we were there. But I would definitely recommend getting a golf cart, wherever you choose to get it from. We had a blast riding around the campground. We went at Christmas, so at night we would drive around and look at all the campgrounds that were decorated for Christmas! They were amazing!! But anyway, the golf cart will make your stay at Fort Wilderness much more pleasant instead of waiting on a bus to get around the grounds! Hope you have a fun trip! :)
