Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Cruise, Oct 30th,2010 Magical Western NewTR link 4/10

Okayyyyyyyyyy I am back!!! ;)
Your first day gave me hives....seriously....what a weirdo limo driver and then I just KNEW your poor laptop was still on board :sad1: I would have been in hysterics if that was my macbook :faint: That really was a black cloud...followed you all the way from BCV poor Timmy :....cool x-ray though!!!

Yea- that was NOT my most magical day or Timmy's!

Oh the food on the ship..... I remember having practically an entire plate of those crab claws....just sayin' ;)
Looks like you had such a nice mix of awesome Disers Everyone sounds so nice :goodvibes

GREAT DISERS ON BOARD!!

Key West looks like a blast!!! How is it that I have never been there :confused:Oooh I loveeeee conch fritters!!! :thumbsup2

Well, that's just WRONG- you have to FIX that!! Actually, the BEST crab claws I've ever had I had there- I like them with the mustard sauce...yummmm...

That is an AWESOME cheese plate!! What a fun idea.....and incorporating two of my favorite things.....wine and cheese!!! :thumbsup2
The food at Palo looks just a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!!!!! When I was on the Wonder it was just my younger niece and I so of course I didn't go by myself  We had some great tablemates and I still keep in touch with some of them after 3 years :)

We had no tablemates- and we didn't get to know anyone sitting next to us, either- last time we made great friends with the family next to us- now we're FB friends. :thumbsup2

Great, great, great photos of your formal night.....love your dress and all of your boys look handsome!! :goodvibes
Okay so now I REALLY want to go on another cruise. RIGHT NOW!!!
Not going to happen this year though I think....I have a trip in May and then October....so maybe the following year but then again you never know....;) That would be SO AWESOME if they really did dock one of the ships in NY...no flight :woohoo: Speaking of flight.....that was a nice flight of tinis you had!!!

Yes it was!!:thumbsup2

ETA: I KNEW you were going to finish posting before I did!!!:rotfl: I meant to tell you I have that same Olympus waterproof camera...mine is pretty old too but is still holding up good.....love it for the pool/lake and especially beautiful crystal water like you were in!! :cloud9:

You must be better at rinsing it after you use it in salt water than I am. DUH. I've never done that, and I just read that rinsing in clear water helps keep the seal. DUH AGAIN!!

I just love talking DVC too.....I really thought my neighbor was going to buy ...Sue-- the one that went with me in May:rolleyes: well....she just left her husband after 24 years and moved in with some guy over an hour away....I haven't talked to her since :sad2: Her (soon to be ex-husband I guess) is soooooooo nice and this guy...I mean who knows  all I have heard is that they went to school together way back when and connected on Facebook

Hey- ya never know what's going on in a marriage unless you are IN the marriage-and sometimes, not even then- KWIM? What a shame- I'm so sorry you lost your friend, but maybe you got to keep the better of the two if the nice one is still your neighbor. What a shame- is he devastated? Did he see it coming at all? UGH....

Tracy

Glad you're back, Tammy!!

On sailing day we were supposed to leave port at noon, but didn't sail until 7. They wouldn't tell us why so late, but we saw the reason on Dan Rather. Drugs were attached to the hull & DEA boys & local law were down at the waterline trying to remove them. The trip went downhill from there.
Drunk teens were everywhere, all of the time, just terrible behavior. The room next to ours had 4 college guys in there & the walls were paper thin. We knew where to find all the easy girls because of their talking. They banged on our door very late at night. Got no help from any of the crew.

OMG!!! What an awful experience!! Was this on Disney?
We were late to Grand Cayman due to rescuing folks stuck on a cataran around 5am. So instead of 6 hours we got 2 to see anything. Of course it rained there.

That is nice the ship rescued people, but sorry you missed a port (although if I had to miss one, that's the one I'd pick).

On our last night there was a storm, so of course dining room was rockin' & rollin'. This was due to a light load because of burning fuel to make up for lost time. Alas, too sick to eat my lobster & filet & I'm one that can do the tea cups at MK.
I could go on, but it does give one a good story to tell after all these years. The really bad part was the education that my kids got on that trip!:scared1:

Thanks for sharing your story- that COMPLETELY qualifies as an absolutely HORRIFIC cruise!! I hope you have the complete OPPOSITE experience if you ever go to do it again!!

Doris

Ditto! All this talk of cruises makes me really want to go, but like you I have a trip planned for May and two in the fall. I was thinking about changing my Nov fall trip (Denny & I) to a Jan cruise. But now the soccer moms think they want to go to HH in October instead of Disney. If that happens, I definitely need to go back to Disney in November and wait for the cruise.

Didn't this kind of happen with them last year?

What the.....? Seriously! :confused3 Wowsa!

OK - hijack over - Ellen - loved the new update. Yummy breakfast and that Cayman Colada - I'd be all over that. The water looks so beautiful! What a great way to spend the afternoon. Imagine those boys wanting to go back to the ship. Sheesh!

I KNOW!!! But it was only Tyler- Tim yelled at him! :rotfl:

OMG- darn holidays made me miss almost all of your cruise.. AHHHHH so much to comment on let me see if I can remember half of it.....

I am highly insulted. What were you thinking???:rotfl:

1st Merry Xmas, Happy Hannaka and Kwanza... and Happy New Year!

You too!

I love that you post porn.. food porn that is.. glad you left out the naughty nasty rasul rrarwwww LOL

Well, we were a little too busy to take pictures- too bad we could never find someone to come in there with us- THEY could have been the photographer!! Kind of takes looking through the photos at Shutters to a whole new level, doesn't it?! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

loved your palo hat, food looked to die for

Thanks, and you KNOW it was!

Key west how fun to do that kidfree!

YEP!

So your coffee ... you never Dr'ed it up? lol

No....I could barely see in the morning- probably would have missed the cup and poured it all over the rug instead.

Tini Tasting (and for Jen- Beer tasting) THATS my girls!!! humm Cognic (sp? LOL) tasting that would be fun I never saw that on ours.

Yea- that would be fun- not that I'd REMEMBER any of it the next day!! :rotfl: I like Cognac, but it has a very unusual effect on me....

Im disapointed in your Grand Cayman time.. Here I raved about our Bootleg tour and you go and spend time on a beautiful beach... LOL

Ya know, of course we really WANTED to take your tour, but it just wouldn't be the same without YOU there!!

Formal night, love your dress and red shoes- HAWT MOMMA! the pics of your boys (all 3) are too handsom. T & T are gonna give you a run for your money, gonna be swatting them lil hoochie girls away from them!!!

Yes I will!! LOL! :rotfl:

Im so upset you didnt get dessert most nights cuz the service was so slow.. thats like a cruise NO NO.. bad servers! bab bad servers lol.

Ahhh...that's ok- I'm not a big dessert girl, anyway. Open that wine and I'm happy, that's all I need!

OH ya poor Timmys finger... poor guy, poor you for the expense (does trip insurance not cover that?) P would have been all over using that finger to point with etc.. just to "get away" with things That's s o funny- Tyler would have been doing that too. We didn't have TI, so I don't know.

Well glad to know where the laptop is.. NOW to find out if you get it back.

**ok im sure i missed some post to comment.. but Im now caught up you can continue.. not that it stopped you.. I see you didnt miss me at all. huh.. whatever LOL.

(Jen Ill do you tmrw... I mean Ill catch up on yours tmrw.. Oy ve thats as bad as Naughty nasty muddy buddys for 3)

Just wanted to say- I could just write ROTFLMAO after everything you say, and that would work for me- you totally crack me up! So glad those silly holidays are over so you can post on here again. :thumbsup2

 Hey Ellen, thanks for the directions! Heading to yoga soon but I will be back to catch up tonight after the kids are in bed. :surfweb:

Thanks for the PM!! I'm so happy YOU'RE here!!! :dance3: I've been waiting for you!!:rolleyes1

It was a Carnival Cruise, not Disney. There was too many unchaperoned teens that got trips for graduation. The pictures of your Disney Cruise are very tempting, as I really did love cruising.

Oh, I'm so glad- I didn't think it could be, but anything is possible, I suppose. Carnival kind of has that reputation- although I think they have gotten better than they used to be. I have a friend who went on with her family of 7 and loved it. But the drunk/rowdy/party thing is kind of the opposite of DCL, KWIM? I'm sure it can happen, but it's not what DCL is known for, if that makes any sense at all.

Reading the TR must be rubbing off on me...i did the FB thing and registered to win the European Cruise...lol ships never go down in the Meditteraean

Good girl!! Baby steps.....better get your life preserver ready, I'm SURE you're gonna win!:thumbsup2

Tonight was dinner in Lumiere's, the French Dinner (rotational menu) preceded by the show that is relatively new, Villians Tonight (this used to be the Golden Mickeys). We enjoyed the shows SO much the last cruise, that this time I wanted to make sure to hit anything we did not see the last time. After relaxing on the balcony a bit, and wondering why this jetski was SO FAR out to sea....

PB030643.jpg

Well, I guess it wasn't THAT far out, but it just looks weird, doesn't it? Anyway, I grabbed Timmy, who was my show buddy last time, and we went to see the show.

IMG_0404.jpg

I thought it was cute- it just seemed really long to me, and I don't know if that's because it IS a long show, or if it's because my eyes were EXHAUSTING me. Either way, I definitely enjoy Dreams and Twice Charmed much more than this show, those I would not miss on my next cruise, but this I might take a pass on. Although, it IS very cool to see all the bad guys together up there. I would DEFINITELY go if you have not seen it. And Maleficent, once again, even at 48, still scares the livin CRAP outta me! :rotfl:

On to another adventure in dining...at this point, we were not expecting a whole lot, and were just thankful for the fact that our servers were warm and friendly, and the food tasted so good. We didn't have big plans for the night, and so we were prepared for a long dinner, INCLUDING dessert!! :thumbsup2

But guess what happened.

And this is why Disney, once again, rocks my world.

We sat down, and Miki, our Server, ran right over- she felt HORRIBLE that we had missed dessert the night before. And we explained to her that we REALLY wanted to see that show, and that we just wanted to make sure we weren't late. So she went on to say that SHE felt she was not providing fast enough service for us, so she had asked the Head Server, Gabor, to give her a hand.

Seriously? She threw herself under the bus just to make sure we would be happy? :scared1: Who DOES that? Who tells their boss that they're too slow and could you help me?? WOW- I am impressed, aren't you? I mean, I am assuming he has some sort of authority over her- which could be totally incorrect. But the fact that Gabor had come over to us on the first night to introduce himself to us, and clearly said, "Please tell me if the service is too slow or too fast for you, we want you to have a wonderful experience in the dining rooms at night", well...even THAT is impressive. But the fact that he REALLY meant it- who knew?

DisneyCruise Line ROCKS!

IMG_0405.jpg

I was starting with a tini- Cosmopolitan L'Orange
Grey Goose L'Orange, Grand Marnier, Cranberry Juice, dash of lime juice

IMG_0406.jpg

It was wonderful.....

Timmy had Applewood Smoked Bacon and Wild Mushroom Tart
with Creamy Leeks (I KNOW!! I couldn't believe it either! :rotfl:)

IMG_0407.jpg

Gotta love when they try something out-of-the-box because they're on a Disney Ship! Both Tyler & I had-"Gaston's" Escargots Gratinés
Herb-marinated Snails with Finely Chopped Mushrooms, topped with Garlic Butter

IMG_0409.jpg

It was delicious and we loved it. Tyler had a mystery smoothie- and once again, failed at the challenge (I think this one had some of everything in it!)

IMG_0410.jpg

Finally, Pods had Tomato and Basil Soup
Rich blend of Tomatoes, fresh Basil, and Cream

IMG_0412.jpg

It was very tasty, I was surprised! Next, our main courses, which came out PERFECTLY timed. :thumbsup2 I chose Slowly Braised Lamb Shank
With a Creamy Polenta and Portobello Mushroom in a Red Wine Sauce and WOWWEE, am I ever glad I did- this was EXCELLENT, if you enjoy lamb in a stewy form, really soft meat and delicious polenta. YUM......

IMG_0413.jpg

I felt sooo crappy, and this was soooo comforting. :cloud9: Timmy went with Grilled Beef Tenderloin
On Olive-Oil Smashed Potatoes, Bacon-wrapped Green Beans, and Tamarind-Barbecue Reduction (after we explained to him it was steak!)-

IMG_0414.jpg

Tyler saw the word lobster, and that was IT for him!! He had Three-Cheese Lobster Macaroni
Lobster Meat, Gruyère, and Cheddar Cheese Sauce tossed with Tubular Pasta and topped with a Parmesan Wafer-

IMG_0415.jpg

I asked him if he liked it, and he did- but I wish I had tried it, because this is one of the dishes that gets blasted as being way less than wonderful here on DIS. I was just so happy with the lamb, I couldn't tear myself away!!

Pods felt like fish, so he had Lumiere's Seared Sea Bass
With a Mushroom Herb Risotto, Sweet Onion Marmalade, and garnished with a Potato Crisp

IMG_0416.jpg

It, too, was a winner. Gabor had told us at the beginning of the meal that we were in for a treat, this is his favorite menu on the ship. He was so right- we loved this dinner.

Our places were cleared...and then came the moment of truth- will we or won't we have dessert?? Up next!

And when it came time for dessert....Timmy asked to be excused- he was sleepy and wanted to go lie down a little. :scared1::scared1:

So we said, "SEE YA! We're havin' DESSERT!!" :woohoo: :rotfl:

Lucky me, I had Grand Marnier Soufflé
With Vanilla Sauce

IMG_0417.jpg

It was FABULOUS! Pods always wants a chocolate thing, so he got Chocolate Mousse
With Brandy-marinated Cherries

IMG_0418.jpg

There was no way Tyler was passing up an Ice-Cream Sundae
Served with Vanilla Ice-Cream, Praline Petite Choux, Chocolate Sauce and a Hazelnut Croquant

IMG_0419.jpg

Miki was so disappointed to see Timmy had gone- we were all kind of tired, to be honest, and we assured her that it was NOT her fault (it was actually the fault of the Boo-like midget who woke up screaming at her Daddy EVERY FREAKIN MORNING at 6 am. "NO...DADDY!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! DADDY...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" is what we woke up to EVERY DAY and we were pretty tired because of it by this day of the cruise. :faint: What the heck was Daddy DOING to that kid???? It sounded bloody AWFUL! But more about that on our last day.) Anyway, she INSISTED we bring something to him- well....he loves vanilla ice cream with sprinkles...can you do that? OF COURSE!!!!! So while we were enjoying our DELICIOUS final course, Miki went back to get that for our youngest.

IMG_0420.jpg

The dining room staff- all three of them- really made such an effort for us that night. It was crystal clear that they were very motivated to make our dining special. We left lumiere's feeling highly satisfied!!

Back at the cabin-

IMG_0421.jpg

IMG_0422.jpg

Tyelr said, "Look a bunny" in a voice that I can't begin to explain...

IMG_0423.jpg

While Timmy, half ready for bed, enjoyed his special dessert-

IMG_0426.jpg

IMG_0427.jpg

We decided it would be a good idea to just hang in the cabin tonight- we were all feeling the Boo-Effect and knew it would be arriving at the crack of Daddy's %$$ early tomorrow....so we got ready for bed while watching Karate Kid or Clash of the Titans AGAIN (which was fine- we were finally seeing the whole thing now. The movies on the TV on the Magic are always EXCELLENT. On RCCL, when we go in August, they have Pay per View instead. Just one of many Disney differences we'll be missing, I'm sure)...

IMG_0428.jpg

Do you see all the books? The only downside of taking a cruise in November- even though we had picked a time when they had some time off- was the schoolwork that had to come with us, and that they had to work on every day. REALLY looking forward to our August cruise- I'm HOPING there will be no homework on that one! Fingers crossed!

Up next- it's a day of Mexican DISfun! 100 DISers take over Nachi Cocum in Cozumel!:dance3:

Finally ............ DESSERT!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yeah! Love the update - brought back a whole lot of memories! ;) Even though we have never cruised on the Magic - that menu definitely looks FAMILIAR!!!
Had the Cosmopolitan - :thumbsup2 yummy drink
Tom had the lamb and the fish the other cruise, while I had the mushroom tart and the lobster pasta - no complaints - they were ALL disneylicious!!!! :cloud9:
Tom even had the souffle on our first cruise and someone had the chocolate mousse! :rotfl2:

Now that neighbour daddy would have really ticked ME off!

School work on a cruise SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry - yes, I teach but they should BAN school books on a cruise! ;)

Tom just showed me a youtube video of someone who obviously missed the Magic in Cozumel! :rotfl2: He had to be shipped out on a pilot boat! The comments of the people at the end of the video were priceless! :cloud9:

Okay, I am ready for more! popcorn::

Reading the TR must be rubbing off on me...i did the FB thing and registered to win the European Cruise...lol ships never go down in the Meditteraean

yay Laura! I'm so proud of you!:thumbsup2
Ellen, you can work on her in May!:goodvibes

I saw that video! Too funny! And you don't ever want to do the "walk of shame" up the dock after last call - people hang out on the decks and balconies and cheer for you!

It really sucks having to bring school work with you. Do not the teachers know Disney is educational and they do not need to add more education to the ... Just kidding, since we often travel during the school year, we also, bring school work. When Sarah attended Montessori it was no big deal for her to miss a week during the school year, but now that she is in a traditional school the teachers have to "teach to the group" and not "to the individual". Thus (so the teachers tell me) homework on vacation is needed to keep her up with the class. Big sigh here... :sad2:

Ellen, looks like you had a wonderful beach day in GC! I saw you eating outside at Topsiders, and all I could think was "watch out for the bees!" :rotfl2: So no trouble with them I guess? Maybe on our GC day the bees were acting weird because of the hurricanes.

I'm happy you finally got good service and your dinner was awesome!
Too bad your relaxing vacation had a 6am alarm! That is something I noticed, also. I think the walls on DCL are thinner than on RCCL. I liked the balcony walls on RCCL better, too - they went all the way out to the edge. On DCL, they don't quite go all the way out top to bottom, and our foreign neighbor kept peeking over on our side - even looking in to our cabin! Maybe you can invite him for your next Naughty mud excursion!:rotfl2:

Anyone have a working address for the Magic?:surfweb:
I want to send a Christmas card to our server and it came back no
valid address :confused3

I had used the same address before.

Thanks for the PM!! I'm so happy YOU'RE here!!! :dance3: I've been waiting for you!!:rolleyes1

:goodvibes

Glad to be here. Like I said I am experiencing WDW withdrawal. Thankfully my sweet and brilliant Chloe is requesting WDW for her bat mitzvah gift. She is a budding chef and love Halloween so what better time to choose than during MNSSHP and F&W Festival. :woohoo: It will be worth the 22 month wait. :faint:

Back to your report. I enjoyed the first two installments up through MNSSHP.

  • I love that your family has to pee on demand. That is so me too! Easier to do what I require right off as it ends up my way any how. :lmao:
  • Dig the tye dye shirts! :hippie:
  • LMAO at the $30.99 worth of food. When we go to Texas Roadhouse Chloe always asks if she can just eat rolls and not order anything. I used to fight her on this until I realized I was continually wasting money on a meal we'd take home and eventually throw away. On NYD we went to Texas Roadhouse and her dinner consisted of 5 rolls, 3 bites of my steak, and a milk. :rotfl2:
  • Was that a 1 br or 2 br at BCV? Love that you don't all cram into a Studio. Way to travel! :thumbsup2
  • Having the bar mitzvah be the muse for the 'staches cracked me up- that's _hittin' funny! :rotfl:
  • During our last trip to Disneyland this past December, if it weren't for my friend, I too would have enjoyed the fireworks and parade alone. I am a fireworks junkie. My family would rather conquer thrill rides. haters. :snooty:

I saw that video! Too funny! And you don't ever want to do the "walk of shame" up the dock after last call - people hang out on the decks and balconies and cheer for you!

I had to watch it twice, as I was laughing so hard, I couldn't understand everything that got said on the video! I was picturing the poor guy having to report back to Captain Mickey! :rotfl2:

:woohoo: Glad to see you got dessert this meal! Your servers sound like they were awesome. They really made this meal extremely enjoyable for you. I hope they continue that kind of service. And I guess that is the DISNEY difference. ;)

And what is up with the little girl next door? :confused3 That just doesn't sound right. And I have to honestly say that I have never heard any of our neighbors while we have been on the ship. Noises from out in the hall, yeah, but next door, no. Just please say it wasn't every single morning. That would really peeve a person off.

Hate the homework scenario. Hope the boys get it done.

That is so incredible of your server to request help even though it may look bad on her to her boss! I hope she was just new and didn't have her routine down yet. She seems deserving of the chance to get it all worked out. The food looks so good..and dessert..finally!! :dance3::dance3:

What a way to wake up evey morning. :scared1: Can't wait to hear what that was all about.

I had to watch it twice, as I was laughing so hard, I couldn't understand everything that got said on the video! I was picturing the poor guy having to report back to Captain Mickey! :rotfl2:

Must go try to find this. Sounds hilarious

I feel for you with the Miss Boo problem. Imagine having four drunk college guys in the cabin next to you. They had parties every night until 4am.

The food looked so good, I'm starting to think about a cruise again. I love Cozomel, really would like to go back there.:goodvibes

All the food looked wonderful Ellen !! I think the steak appealed the most to me !!I was intriqued with the bacon wrapped green beans !!!!

OMG i love escargot, i always get 2 and order 1 for the table to try.. they never do so I get 3 yeah me LOL

So glad you got dessert.. it all looked yummy. And how awesome of the server to throw herself under the bus.. err boat.. ship? LOL

Hope if we get on a cruise again (disney) they still have some of those shows... i dont remember much of them, maybe i wont drink as much next time.... HA right.

Cruising at school time sucks.. ill never do it again.

got to go find that video of the guy missing the ship. funny

and Tammy its not that we cheer them on.. its that we totally bag on them.. like hurry your drunk @$$ up LOL
