:goodvibesHi DISpeeps!! I am VERY excited to begin this TR detailing our recent adventures onboard the Disney Magic this past October. This was our second Disney Cruise- and our second Western. We had rebooked on our 2008 Western, and WOW!! Two years is a looooooong time to wait to get back on the Magic! Anyway, here we are, the four of us-

IMG_0688.jpg

That's DH, Pods, Daisy , DS11, Timmy, Me, Ellen, and DS 13, Tyler. Our oldest son, Sean, stayed home with my cousins, Sheree & Henry, and our dog, Summer. Sean LOVES WDW- but the Disney Cruise? Well....Sean is autistic, and although I absolutely believe DCL would do everything they could to make it a magical experience for him, I just don't know if he would be happy- he says he would rather stay home, and I worry about his safety- he doesn't always understand how dangerous something can be, like...umm...walking on deck and leaning too far over a railing:scared1:. Here's a photo of our oldest, taken just a few days ago over Thanksgiving weekend in a log cabin in Tennessee-

IMG_1926.jpg

Our other sons, however, think the Disney cruise is the world's BEST vacation!! And I agree with them 3000%!!

I'll be back soon to get things started!:yay:

Hi Jonathan!!

Yes- you know I HAD to write a TR...I just needed to finish my other one, first. Thanks for adding me to your list!! :goodvibes I am so glad there are so many TRs going from our cruise- it is always fun to read about everyone else's experiences. :thumbsup2

I am loving reading all of these. Even though I was there myself, it is great re-living it through all of you. It also gives me a chance to share in some of the stuff I might have missed doing myself!

We decided it would be nice to spend a day at WDW pre-cruise, just as we did the last time. But, this time, I wanted to go down on Thursday- why not? If I pulled the boys out of school right after lunch, it would not count against them as an additional absence, and we would have the advantage of getting ALL of Friday in when we were there. SO....for the first time, we were on an afternoon flight to Orlando. I have to say...this REALLY took the pressure off, I had all morning to put ther finishing touches on getting out the door, PLUS, since we didn't wake up at 5 am, we were able to go go go that night at MNSSHP until midnight when it ended. :thumbsup2 And the airport was EMPTY, so the flight left right on time- EXCELLENT!!

And....I could have a glass of wine to kick off our trip! (Even if what I really wanted was champagne, but they didn't have that on this flight)

I gave everyone VERY CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS- Pee to your heart's content on the plane, get up and go to the bathroom every 5 minutes if you like...because there will be NO PEEING IN THE AIRPORT when we land! (If you don't know why this is so important, please refer back to the TR I just finished, in which my DH thought it was a good idea to hit the head on the ground rather than in the air, and we missed the DME- NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!). We had a tight schedule, and it was going to freak me out if we got closed out of the last 4 seats on the DME....fortunately, my family now lives in fear of me on these trips, and they have learned it's MUCH easier to do what I want than to have some silly opinion of their own. :snooty: :rotfl: The bus was waiting for us when we arrived, and Tim & Ty made a bee line for the back...where there is a kid magnet, for sure!

PA280336.jpg

aaahhh...the happiest show on earth on the happiest bus on earth to the happiest place on earth....

PA280338.jpg

The reason behind all the rush? MNSSHP...after Cape May Cafe.

Yea- I know...we should just eat at Casey's and get over it.....but...I keep reading great things about CMC, and we were going to be right there, after all...ah, well,,,I am just a sucker for a good Disney Dining review, I guess! So, within literally 5 minutes upon arriving, we had checked into BCV (I had done online checkin), handed our carryons to the bell station to deliver to our villa, and checked in at CMC, where I was given a Birthday button and we were shown immediately to our seats.

Good thing nobody had to pee- I might have had to leave them behind. :rolleyes1

For those who don't know me, you should know I LOVE food porn, and I tried to take pics of all the food I could on the trip- so there will be lots more to come!

I love that Tyler enjoys fruit so much!

We really enjoyed this buffet alot. There was so much to try, and everything we had was scrumptious. And our server was excellent- right on time with drinks, and refills, etc. On to dessert- in the next post!

Ah, yes- time for dessert-

The chocolate dessert was mmmmmmmm........

PA280357.jpg

But best dessert of all? The special Happy Birthday dessert- this was fantastic!!

PA280359.jpg

PA280360.jpg

After we paid the tab, using our TIW discount, we headed over to check out our villa- after all, we still needed to put on our costumes, and you KNOW how involved THAT can be!

I was very excited to see what the kids & DH thought. BC is where we always stayed at WDW...that is, until after our 2007 trip, when we bought AKV points from DVC. We liked those so much that a year later we were buying BCV points, because I wanted to make sure we would always be able to stay at BC, our first "home" at WDW. So what did they think?

They loved it! Hooray!

PA280361.jpg

We had a quiet pool view, which I really did like- as well as the great, big balcony from which to look at it from (does that make sense?)-

I have to say, it would have been very, very easy to just slip on our bathing suits, go for a swim, come back and have a glass of wine, relax and go to bed.

But, of course, that's not what we did.

We were going to MNSSHP!! So get UP! We need to get on those costumes, everybody...it's time to Trick or Treat!!

Yay! This is one TR that I wanted to see. I want to learn about a Disney cruise. Loved your Smoky Mountain pictures. Gatlinburg was a lot better 15 years ago, we've been going there since 1967!

PA280369.jpg

Pods looks like he either has A) very bad gas or B) a sudden urge to do the cha cha slide....... And Timmy? Is it true he really walks on water????

I am SOOOO ready for this TR!!!!! Rock on wit your bad self!

I can't believe that I finally made page one :cool1:.

That food looked great & that room was one of nicest that I've seen so far.

So...what were our costumes....what were our costumes...well, this is a difficult question to answer. My DS13 came up with this idea after he wore "this" last year when he needed something quick- he attended his friend's Bar Mitzvah during the day and early evening, then came home, put "this" on quickly, and ran out to get candy. He declared it the best costume EVAAAARRRRRR! What is "this"?

Mustaches. We were a family with a facial hair problem.

No joke. Here we are-

PA280376.jpg

PA280378.jpg

We walked over to the bus stop, and I have to say....I actually felt a little shy and self conscious with my newly un-mowed facial hair.
On the way, we passed some night blooming jasmine- it was SCREAMING at us it smelled so strong! WOW! That is one powerful, puny flower!

PA280377.jpg

Immediately, people started to comment- some about our shirts (which were made by Tarzan's Kat- she ROCKS!!), some about our hair issue- whatever the reason, I have to say, people seemed to like it. If being openly laughed at is any indication of their opinions.

PA280379.jpg

PA280380.jpg

YAY! We are finally in MK! Of course, the boys head straight for Space Mountain-

PA280383.jpg

PA280384.jpg

Where the CM's say- Hey- Are they wearing mustaches?

Umm...no....we have a facial hair problem! Thanks a lot!

PA280385.jpg

PA280386.jpg

It was already getting close to Hallowishes time, and maybe this will help explain why we were ok getting to this wonderful party late. My kids have no desire to see a parade, or watch fireworks, or pose with any special characters at this particular moment in time. Which means....they are very, very focused on what they DO want- and that is, to ride the rides and get as much candy as they can u-haul outta that park by 12am! So...4 hours is plenty of time for that for them, and I can still see the all the festivities I want to while we're there.(well, except for a pic with Snow White and the 7 Dwarves- but even I wasn't waitin on THAT line!) As long as I go by myself. So....after I rode SM 1 time, I was off to go find a semi-respectable spot for the fireworks. I ended up in the Rose Garden. And while not the greatest and most perfect for taking pictures, well....it doesn't entirely suck either. And...I could attach my gorilla pod to the fence, which is a very good thing. So....how's about some fireworks pics?

That is really some display- it makes me CRAZY that my kids are past it (at the moment- I have hope that one day, they'll come back...). The whole time this fireworks was going on, I was looking for my DISpal, who I had been texting with back and forth for a good part of the evening- nenner1, Jen. We were hoping to hook up either during or after the fireworks, but we just couldn't seem to find each other! Oh well...I knew I would be meeting her on Saturday, her family was also on our cruise. :goodvibes But I really, REALLY wanted to meet her- we have been chatting on here for a couple of years, and I KNEW we were going to get along really well. But crazy crowds all in the hub at once made it impossible for us to find each other, so....I moved on. But first, I stopped for a few hub pics- and even with Jen saying she was RIGHT THERE talking to Janice from our thread, I couldn't find them at all!

I was also texting back and forth with Pods, and went to meet him in Fronteirland. But by the time I arrived, they were on Splash Mountain- and they were NOT coming OFF! I think EVER!! There was no line, so they just got back on to ride again. I, however, decided to go line up on the curb- it was parade time!

Oh you got GREAT pics from over there! (saved them all hope you don't mind!!!:rolleyes1) We got stuck pretty much dead center in the hub and we must have straight up passed you, cause as soon as we could move we went straight to the rose garden. It did take a few minutes to get over there though. And no 'staches in sight.:sad2: LOL! ;)

What a shame, we would have had a blast together!!!

BCV is gorgeous and CMC looks really good too. We always look in there on our way to B&C and it has never excited us much, but looking at that fantastic food pr0n, I might have changed my mind! Yum!

What a fantastic start, you've been busy girl! :goodvibes More please!;)

WOW Ellen, I'm intriged and can't wait to read more and see more!!! You took some great parade photos. Can I ask you a favour? Can you email some of those parade photos? We went to MNSSHP last year but from where I was standing, everytime I went to take a picture, this guy beside would get in the way, so I don't have any really great shots. I'm working on last years Land Sea Vacation scrap book as well as this years cruise one. And congrats on FINISHING your last TR!! Mine is still not done from last year, and at this point, I think it's hopeless! But now that I know you did, maybe it's not so hopeless afterall!
It was Great cruising with you all and thanks so much for sending the Palo Brunch photo!! :thumbsup2

OH YAYYYYY, I get 1st spot on page two!:yay:

Ellen, I'm loving your pictures and your trip report too! Keep them coming. And I do hope you have a picture of your lovely hat that you wore to the Palo dinner!!!!

Thanks! I love reading them, too- I think you are absolutely right, it gives us a chance to share in what we missed!!

:goodvibes Yeah!!!! Another great trip report!

Well, we'll see....I certainly hope so!! Thanks, Lorrie!!

Yay! This is one TR that I wanted to see. I want to learn about a Disney cruise. Loved your Smoky Mountain pictures. Gatlinburg was a lot better 15 years ago, we've been going there since 1967!

It was very pretty in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge- the mountains everywhere were gorgeous! I really was hoping to see a bear- but, I guess since I BARELY got out of the kitchen, that made it a little difficult (fortunately)!! :rotfl: DCL is excellent- I hope you like learning about it!

PA280369.jpg

I am SOOOO ready for this TR!!!!! Rock on wit your bad self!

How did you know? Pods had very bad gas WHILE he was doing the chacha slide- he was positively exploding with every dance step! :scared1:

Sure- Timmy walks on water. Now everyone knows. Life will never be the same. Thanks a LOT, Miss Kara!

You still have your cruise booked, right? You are taking my young friend Ally before you have any more talks, right????

I can't believe that I finally made page one :cool1:.

That food looked great & that room was one of nicest that I've seen so far.

Congratulations!!! I never make page 1. I always seem to be tardy to the party....

And BCV is really nice- we're planning to go back next November- I book it in 7 days!

well that explains the facial hair......i loved the fu manchu on timmy. He was rocking it well and yes those were the best costumes evahhhhh!

And here I was blaming it on our obvious Greek/Italian/Arabian heritage....

Yayyyyyy!!!! I'm so happy you're here!!! Yea- I wore that mustache the WHOLE TIME I WAS ALONE!! What an IDIOT I looked like! It's one thing to be in a group wearing 'staches....it's a whole different vibe being a 47 year old woman by herself sportin a "stache! :rotfl2:

And yea- i've been busy- I felt very motivated today (and yesterday) puttin' all this up!

I'm early for a change! :yay:

Your photos of my most favorite fireworks display and parade are the best I've seen in a long, long time. All I could think when I saw the fireworks is "This is Halloween, This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween your most favorite time of year"! I felt like I was there again.

Can't wait to see your next update! :thumbsup2

Hi Judy!!! Yay- another cruise buddy! :goodvibes I would be happy to send you any pics you want- just let me know which ones. I had an excellent spot- at the beginning of the parade route, right next to SM- I can't believe I finally got a shot of that headless horseman!! But I think he was going a LOT slower that night than he was the two times I saw him in 2008.

And this makes 11 TRs I have written (I don't have room for them all in my sig!!)- and I finished the first 10, so I will hopefully keep that trend! This is my scrapbooking now- which reminds me, I REALLY need to print these out sometime!!

Ellen, I'm loving your pictures and your trip report too! Keep them coming. And I do hope you have a picture of your lovely hat that you wore to the Palo dinner!!!!

Beth

Hi Beth!! I'm so glad you're reading along! ANd you KNOW I have lots of pics of that hat at Palo- it was so much fun to wear!:goodvibes
