13.1 Before I Hit 40 - Running my 1st 1/2 Marathon at Disney uptd 09/30

From my understanding it should have a line like - "to help you celebrate save 20% on any one order...". on the it with a code of some sort. It may be the same as the 16 digit photopass code - I saw someone on the budget board post that up and the person who used it said it worked. I only have the Mickey card that was left in our room with the photopass and it mentions the discount, but my friend ended up using that photopass around the parks. If you have one, I'd really appreciate it. :)

PM'd you the info - let me know if it works...:thumbsup2

Is there any way to bring the Crocs and the sandals? A bunch of my friends swear by the Crocs, but I've never used them. I tend to bring three pairs of gym shoes (all running shoes - either Asics or Mizumnos) with me and rotate those.

I'll probably end up bringing both. I'm usually okay with Crocs the day I wear them, but I pay for it the next day. I haven't worn them regularly since I stopped working at my part time job, and yesterday my feet were all crampy and achy. I haven't had that problem since I use to wear them at my part time job.

I could bring my other gym shoes, but they are so heavy I was trying to ease up the weight of my stuff. The water shoes have a full regular sole on them, so they may be my best bet.

Off to give it a try now. I'll let you know if it works!

Crissy, I don't know if Tink would have kept that, but I would PM her.

I hate it when shoe design gets magically changed all of a sudden, what a bummer!

I can't believe your trip is coming up so quickly now! :goodvibes

Honestly I was looking at them last night and wondering if they were marked correctly. They don't really look all that wide, and there isn't anything in or on the shoe that says what the size is. I never tried them on at the store, because I've been wearing the same size for years.

:banana:2 Days!!!!!

Why is it that the week before you leave for vacation is always the longest week ever? I don't even have to make it five days this week and it still feels like it's taking forever. My supervisor is on vacation this week, so I was hoping that this week would be kind of a vacation before my vacation. :)Unfortunately my manager felt we needed a babysitter, and is actually visiting our office from Washington. Boo! :mad:Not quite the vacation before my vacation I was hoping for.

I did all my ironing and packing last night, and I'm pretty positive that I have everything I need. After all these trips I have a pretty good standard packing list that I use. I was getting worried that I couldn't find my camera, but luckily it was on my desk at work. Whew! I was starting to get worried last night when I couldn't filnd it anywhere.

I checked Touring Plans today to see what kind of crowds they are calling for, and it looks really good. Most days are 2's and 3's with a 1 and a 4 thrown in for good measure. :thumbsup2 I pulled up some touring plans while I was there, but honestly for the most part I'm just planning on winging it this time I think. I feel like being a bit of a pirate on this trip. pirate:

So the plan for the week looks like -

Day 1 - Friday

No Park. :sad1:

At all.

I can't express how much this is killing me, but my friend only has 4 days left on her 10 day pass and we had 6 days at Disney to plan around. One day we are taking the morning off, and going to MNSSHP at night, but that still left us with one day to either go parkless, or she'd have to buy a one day pass. Much as I really would love to go to a park a one day park ticket is awfully expensive I can't really see making her pay all that for just one day. The killer about all this is that I paid less for my annual pass than she paid for her 10 day non-expiring ticket. C'est la vie!

Our planes are arriving just a minute or so apart at about 9am. After we check in, I'm thinking we can hit up Beaches and Cream once it opens, and then head over to the expo to check in for the race. Nothing is set in stone for the rest of the day. We've talked about just chilling at Stormalong Bay, and if it's nice I'd like to do the hot air balloon ride at DTD. Our dinner ADR is at 7:50 at the California Grill . It should be perfect timing to watch Hallowishes.

Day 2 - Saturday
Magic Kingdom/Marathon

I made an 8am ADR at the Grand Floridian Café, so we could get a good nutrional breakfast to start off race day. After that we can hit up the Magic Kingdon, taking it easy just enjoying the morning. No rush for anything. We'll only be there for the morning. From there we'll be heading over to MGM.

Right now I have a lunch ADR set for the Sci Fi Dine In at about 2pm. I've wanted to try this for ages, but I've been having second thoughts about having it before the race. Most of the entrees seem to be a bit protein heavy, when we should probably be focused on carbs. This is really the ADR most likely to be dropped or changed.

After lunch we'll be heading back to the Beach Club for some rest, before the big race. It's knotting my stomach up a bit just thinking about it.

Nevertheless, at 10 pm I'll be starting off the race, and hopefully I'l be crossing the finish line about 3 hours later. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Day 3 - Sunday
Stormalong Bay/MNSSHP

Recovery and the need to possibly drown my sorrows (or to celebrate) with a frozen alcholic drink or two is the plan for the day. Had my loan been completed I was going to schedule a massage, but since it hasn't it will just be a relaxing by the pool day. I can't wait to spend some time at Stormalong Bay. Right now Sunday is the only day rain wasn't called for so I'm hopeful.

I'd like to be at the Magic Kingdom right near 4pm for the Halloween party. At the latest we'll be there at 5:30 for our ADR at the Crystal Palace. I can't wait to eat with Pooh! After that we'll be closing out the party near midnight, with our final ride for the night being on Pirates. My last few trips, when we've gone to the special parties, we have been one of the last people off of Pirates for the night. I think it's the perfect way to wrap up the night.

Day 4 - Monday
MGM/Epcot

I have an ADR set for 7:30 am at the Captains Grille. I wish that the Beach Club area had a food court for breakfast so we didn't have to go through the hassle of a TS meal for breakfast. I know they have a grab and go area at the Beach Club, but I really prefer to be able to sit down and take my meal without feeling rushed. I ended up making a breakfast ADR for each day (except Sunday) just to be on the safe side. I figure that with my Tables in Wonderland discount, it won't really end up costing us much more than a non-discounted food court meal would.

After that we'll be off to make rope drop and ride Toy Story mania and enjoy MGM that morning. At lunchtime we'll be heading over to Epcot where we have an ADR at 3:25. No dinner plans, as I hope to just wander around enjoying some snacking at Food & Wine and wrapping up the night watching Illuminations.

I'll recap the plans for the last few days tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Trip aside, I'm still trying to wrap up a few personal things before I go. My loan is still pending, and we were hoping to have it all done, and paperwork signed before I left on vacation. The new bank I'm using didn't give me a hard time about the flood stuff, because according to FEMA, my unit does not fall within the flood zone. :rolleyes:All that hassle from Bank of America and I don't even live in a flood zone. Makes me dislike them all the more. My current loan application has gotten a bit tied up waiting for the title search results to come back. I don't know why it's taking so long, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll have it done before Friday. I'm also on the hunt for a Pandora starter bracelet size extra tiny for my 7 year old niece's birthday. It's her only request, so I'd like to try to get it for her. I kind of like the idea that I can keep getting her beads over time to comemerate special days and times for us.

2 Days, hot holy carp!

I'm so excited for you! :yay: The plans look good, and even though you're probably frustrated to not be able to do a park, it'll be good to have some down time too. :goodvibes

This is me blithely ignoring the weather forecasts of Tropical Storm Nicole.

Seriously, keep your fingers crossed for me that she moves through NY tomorrow. The forecast for Orlando is wonderful, but that won't do me much good if I can't get out of NY. I thought I had my fill of lousy traveling weather on my last trip with the snow. I don't even want to think about what will happen if my flight is delayed or cancelled.

Thanks!

I think the down time will be a good thing, especially with the race the next day. I really want to try that balloon ride too.

Jet Blue cancelled some flights tomorrow. It's still looking good right now for Friday. I'm just nervous since mine is the first flight out. The other flights are filling up now, so if it's cancelled who knows when I'll get out.

Please think some happy thoughts for me!

:worship::worship::worship: to the weather and flight gods that you get to Floridahhhhhh with no problems!

Your plans sound great!! I hope you will make it down there as planned!! :goodvibes

I'm keeping my fingers crossed about getting out of here on time. I may send a PDF of my race waiver to my friend so she can pick up my packet if necessary.

I've already had a cancelled flight this year. I should have hit my quota.

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
Have a fantastic time!!!!

You too! Your arriving Monday right?

:worship::worship::worship: to the weather and flight gods that you get to Floridahhhhhh with no problems!

I didn't know you had that kind of connection going on. :rotfl: I should have talked to you before the Feb. trip. ;)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I was able to check in this morning, and as of that point JetBlue wasn't listing any cancelled flights.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:1 Day to Go!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

One of these days I'm going to get smart and start taking off the day before I leave on vacation. I'm stuck here at work, thinking about nothing but leaving on vacation, and how much work I need to get done before I can leave for the day.

Still no news on the loan application, so unfortunately that won't get done before I leave. Everything else though is packed and ready to go. When I get home I just need to take the trash out, pack up my makeup and hair stuff and lock the house up. Since I'll need to leave for the airport at about 4am I'm staying over at my parents house tonight. I'm not really a morning person, and really need to know that someone will be making sure I'm awake.

I spoke with my friend last night, and I'm definitely going to meet up with her Team in Training group the night of the race. She's staying right next door at the Yacht Club, so it will be great to get to see her again. I don't think that I've seen her in over 10 years. It will be fun to do the race with a group of other people.

Now the plans for the rest of the week -

Day 5 - Tuesday
Animal Kingdom

I have a breakfast ADR at Kouzzina, and then Animal Kingdom gets a day all to itself. Animal Kingdom day is also the day of my only planned lunch - the fruit plate at Flame Tree BBQ.

Dinner tonight was a tough call. Usually I always end my Animal Kingdom days with a dinner at Boma. This trip though, with less Disney days, I had a tough call on two of my favorite places. I had to choose Boma or the Brown Derby. The two have easily been my BFF and mine's favorite two places and I had to kick one of them to the curb. Zebra Domes or strawberry cheesecake. Cobb salad, or soup. Sadly Boma got cut after a long hard battle with myself. Cobb Salad, crab cakes and strawberry cheesecake won.

After that we have no real plans. We could possibly check out a park, or head to Jellyrolls. We'll see how we feel.

Day 6 Wednesday

Last Disney Day :sad1:

As usual my last Disney day will be spent floating around seeing whatever we want to re-do. I made a breakfast ADR at Cape May, and from there we'll head to either MGM or Epcot and then switch locations.

Our dinner ADR is for Liberty Tree Tavern, so we'll be ending the day at the MK watching Wishes and the MSEP. :hyper: I'm so giddily excited about getting to watch that parade again.

Day 7 Thursday
Universal Studios Day

We're getting pick up by our car service at 8am, and will be heading to the Hard Rock Hotel for the rest of our vacation. After checking in, and dumping our bags off we'll be heading right out to Universal. I have no game plan at all for Universal. I figure with low crowds this time of year, and our head of the line passes there is no need.

Dinner - somewhere at Citywalk. I'd love to try Margaritaville's but I'll try anything.

Day 8 Friday
Islands of Adventure

Harry Potterworld! I'm sure there are other things we'll be doing there, but I'm all about Harry Potterworld. I'm a bit afraid at how much I might spend on souveniers. Part of me really wants a wand, even though I have absolutely no use for one.

Again after Potterworld no game plan.

Dinner - somewhere. :rotfl:

Day 9 - Saturday
Time to return home. Our pick up is at 9:30 am. I'm really glad I chose to get a car instead of the Mears shuttle so we'll go right there and not have to make a bunch of stops. I should be back in NY by 3pm.

And that's the plan. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. I'm hoping for the best, and at any rate I'll be away from work for a week. :woohoo:

Your plans sound awesome! I'm arriving Monday- maybe I will see you! If not, have a great trip & you will do great in the race!!!! :goodvibes

Plans look great. I know what you mean about the day before, originally I was going to work as well then started freaking out and decided I needed it off. If only to try and calm myself all day for the plane ride the next day. :rotfl:

Have a wondeful vacation! And good luck with the race...you'll do great.

If you want to post updates to Facebook during your trip I'll repost them here for you if you want! I'm sure everyone will want to know how the race went for you.
