Ok we just upgrade to CBR. This is a done deal! LOL
We are just more comfortable with the rooms at the moderates. We talk to dd and just explained that this is everyone's trip and we all want to be happy. She was fine giving up pop.

Can you get a cot and how much are they? It would only be for 2 nights as I'm sure my step son doesn't want to sleep with his sister. He can only get off work for 2 nights. So I'm not sure if I can get the cot for 2 nights or do I have to keep it the entire 9 nights.

Good to see that you're back to a reservation at the CBR. :thumbsup2

Here's the cot information that I found on allearsnet:

Each room has two full-size beds, except for a few rooms with king-size beds. Up to four guests, and one child under 3 in a crib, are allowed per room. Cots are available at $15/night; call to reserve one in advance. There is space for a sleeping bag on the floor. Cribs are available. Rooms include two sinks outside the bathroom, cable TV/radio, armoire, table and chairs, phone, High Speed Internet Access Port (a cable is usually available in a bag on a hanger in the closet; if not, request one from Housekeeping), a small key-operated wall safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and coffee maker. Complimentary coffee packs are also supplied. There should also be a refrigerator in the room -- if it's not there, request it, there is no charge! Bed boards, bed rails, extra blankets and pillows, baby cribs and sharps containers are available through housekeeping.

You can't miss us. We're an odd looking family. My husband is 6'2" and average weight and blonde. I'm 5'4" and very Pooh sized with dark brown hair and we have a red headed kid who makes lots of weird noises (autism and tics from a disorder called PANDAS). LOL

LoL I'm not sure any of us are normal! I used to volunteer with special needs kids and DF used to be a special ed teacher. I was also a baby sitter for my friends autisitc child I was about the only one he really liked staying with we just both 'got' each other. Now DF and I both work for the government...how does that happen??:rolleyes1

Okay, you all have convinced us to choose CBR for our upcoming trip in May 2011. The only place we've stayed is CSR, which we loved, but we want to experience other resorts. I was really hoping we could stay at WL but we just can't justify the cost this time around :sad1:. I've been revisiting the mods and haven't been able to get excited about any of them, but then I came across this thread. I started following the links and looking at more recent photos. DH liked what he saw, and ODD about flipped when she saw the pirate-themed pool. She's a princess girl but she knows a great pool when she sees one! I was worried about the size of CBR, mostly because YDD will still be so little when we go, but it's not like she'll be walking around much anyway. So we're decided - CBR it is! Thanks to everyone who posted such great information and photos!

Hi all!

I'm sorry I don't have time to read through all the threads, but I have a couple questions.

Are all the rooms Nemo themed? We're currently booked in a standard, but my son would get a real thrill out of a Nemo themed room.

Also, am I correct in understanding there are no elevators at CBR? This worries me since I'll have a double stroller and lugging it up and down flights of stairs seems tedious at best.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

Why not try requesting a 1st floor room. We staryed ar POR last year and I too had a double stroller and we had a 1st floor room so no problems at all!

Thanks!

I guess I'll hope we can get a first floor room. It worries me a little putting it off and 'hoping' but I don't think DH will want to change hotels.

Thanks so much we only need it for 2 nights. So I'm hoping i don't have to pay for the entire 10 days. If I have to pay for the entire trip I might as well just book another room for 2 nights.

Returned yesterday from a 5 night stay at CBR. (Was originally 6 nights, but being from south Louisiana and Bonnie heading straight for us, we decided to go home on Friday so we could prepare in case she picked up speed. Which she did NOT. But better to be on the safe side.)

I’ll get the “bad” out of the way. The only flaw of our stay was a nasty smelling night stand. The smell wasn’t the fault of Disney, but it took 3 days to get our nightstand replaced. Apparently, someone spilled something in the nightstand drawer and it had a VERY foul odor. It needed to be replaced for us and future guests of the room, and it was, eventually. In hindsight, we should have been more aggressive, but oh well.

Now the “good“, and it was mostly all good. I requested a ground floor room in building 45 or 51 when making our reservation. We arrived at CBR around 12:20pm. Our room wasn’t ready yet. The CM told us we were in building 51, Aruba, but she couldn’t tell us our room number at that time. ( I did see her write down 5103.) So we parked our car near building 51 and walked over to the food court for lunch, which was our traditional arrival day large pepperoni pizza. While eating our pizza, I got a text saying that our room was ready, and we were in room 5103. It was a ground floor room. In our experience, room requests are more often granted than not.

We ate breakfast in the food court most mornings and were well satisfied with the breakfast menus. I like that the moderate resorts have more fruit options to choose than at the value resorts. We used the bus one time to go to the Magic Kingdom one morning. A MK bus arrived within one minute of us getting to the bus stop, and another MK bus was right behind this one. To get back to CBR later that afternoon, a bus pulled up within a minute of us getting to the CBR bus stop at MK. I know this isn’t always the case, but we liked it! We swam at the main pool once, and at the quiet pool at Aruba once. The pool areas were clean and we enjoyed it. I used the laundry room once, washing two loads of laundry. The first load was adequately dried with one cycle, but the second load had a few items that were a little damp. It may take a little longer than 1 30-minute cycle for some loads.

Overall, we had a great time at CBR, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. CBR is so beautiful! If you have any questions, I’d be happy to try and answer.

My camera stayed in its case for most of this trip, but I did take a few pictures from our building 51:

:goodvibes67 days till vacation!!!!! we can hardly wait... I am very excited about staying at the CBR, first time there and first time in a moderate!!!! I am loving reading all the Volumes of the Caribbean Beach FAQ's!!!! :goodvibes

We're just over a month away! Very excited for our little guy's first trip (he's 2)! We've never stayed at CBR before, and we're really looking forward to it.

Are the Trinidad North rooms pirate rooms?

The pirate rooms are in Trinidad South. Trinidad North rooms are considered "preferred location" rooms, and are located roughly halfway between Trinidad South and Old Port Royale where the food court and main pool are located.

We are going to be at CBR on Oct. 17-22. We have never been to disney as a family (we have all been but not all together) and we have never stayed on site so we are super excited about this.

This may be a dumb question but do the room doors open to the outside or the inside? We should be in a preferred room.

You'll have a great time together as a family, and you'll love CBR!! :cool1: and room doors open to the outside -- first floor to a sidewalk, and second floor to an exterior walkway.
