DISmoms Round TWO! Don't Axe, Don't Tell!! 4/30-5/4/10 updates 9/17

Subscribing. Your tr's are awesome. DH and I love reading them. Keep up the good work.

Awesome, Joan is here! I think that is a GREAT photo of you guys.

We also had "coldness" issues at BCVs the first night of our last visit. We ordered extra blankets for the rest of our stay and were very comfortable after the first night. I love BCV, it smells so great! I also love the smell at AKL Jambo - um, I must have something about smells. :rotfl:

I love the way Jambo smells, too- I actually really love staying at AKV, in either Kidani or Jambo- which kind of surprises me because although we bought the majority of our points there, i was not in love with the decor on the tour. But one stay, and I was hooked! I feel so comfortable and relaxed and happy there- do you think it's the smell??? I know everyone talks about how great BC smells- but I don't really notice anything. :confused3 Love it whether it smells nice or not, though!

Love the update!! Kara i'm ready for more from you!!;) I wanna make that trip one day. insert violins playing sad music for me. But alas, i have one coming up in a little over 30 days. yeah!!

Joan, i think you did a great job of an update.

Ellen, I love all the food porn that you took! I will have to break in my BFF about that soon. My family would just think that i have totally lost it if i start taking pics before they can eat.:lmao:

Not to hijack but Mary Ellen, i so agree about pyscho patients. I cringe when i find out i have patients like that. Had a schizo and a wandering dementia one last weekend. Made for a rough time at work! Enough about work! MUST HAVE MORE!!!!!

I take the food porn on every trip I take now, Disney related or not- it's all because of writing on here, I guess!! So everyone I travel with is used to it now- including all the non-DIS peeps! Girlfriends are always happy to oblige- it's the men who think it's ridiculous. But they usually keep their mouth shut, if they know what's good for them! :rotfl:

Okay I have been following along for the last few days and WOW. It looks like you guys had a great time.

By the way. Pam and I live in the same town and I have to say I am soooo jealous. Looking back now I should have sneaked over to her house and hid in her luggage. :rolleyes1

I am counting down the days to my July trip. Ugghhhh 10 months is too long between trips. You know it's funny some times I think I just don't get to Disney enough then I think about all the people who only get that once in a lifetime trip. I am such a whiner when it comes to WDW.

Hi there!! :goodvibes Too funny you and Pam live in the same town! Does she look at all familiar? And yes, you should have hid in her luggage- :rotfl:

I'm a whiner about Disney sometimes, too- we went every 2 years before DVC. Now I'm there 3x a year (plus HHI in the summer for another Disney fix) and it's not enough!! Don't get me wrong...I completely am thankful and appreciative that I get to visit so often. But just last night I was dreaming I was there, and that I couldn't believe my trip was already over. A HORRIBLE nightmare!! :scared1::rotfl:

Awesome post, Joan! I know what you mean about feeling like you have known these ladies your whole life. We all met last year on the DISboards, became friends, and got to meet on their DISmoms1 trip, sans axes of course. (Hey....you never know nowadays, right?) It is nice to "meet" you here on the DISboards and I look forward to your updates as well.

Alan

I have to agree- Joan, your post was AWESOME!! :dance3: Can't wait to hear more! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I am howling laughing!! :rotfl2: Can't even imagine how much fun you all were having together. Thanks for the lesson, Ellen, and yes we all bow to your superior DISness. :worship:

Oh, Alan- it was hilarious, every minute of it! It was so hard to leave, even harder than last year. We just laughed and laughed...:rotfl2: :thumbsup2

There once was a dog named Bucky
He thought he was gonna get lucky
Til one day it got stuck
The vet said "Kara you're out of luck
Cause to make it go down ain't real ducky"

Seriously, IT GOT STUCK and he couldn't walk!!! My poor baby!!!! So the vet (after laughing at me and saying he usually gets these kinds of calls on Saturday nights after a lot of drinking) told me if it ever happens again I might have to .... well, let's just say that he told me I might have to..... well, assist him in putting it away.

Needless to say, after several drinks around the world, the story was much funnier. And I can assure you that I will NOT be helping in any way! I will be taking him to the vet for professional assistance!!!

Hey- so if Bucky has now relocated to SC with Jeff, what if it happens again before you and Ally arrive?? Is Jeff ready to MAN UP and help out his BFF???:rotfl:

OMG I am finally caught up!!! Kara and Ellen you rock !!! I believe Ellen was told she was the smartest Dis MOM ..But Kara is still the "Sexie one" as in ITSK!!:rotfl2:

Loved all the food porn pix and of course you ladies drinking your chocolate milk !!!:lmao: Keep the laughs coming ladies !!!!

Yes...I got nothin on Sexy when I'm up against ITSK- how can you compete with THIS?

2010_0504dismoms20100054.jpg

:rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

All I can say is.....POOR BUCKY! :scared:

OOOOH, yucky Bucky. Down boy!! :lmao:

You guys are crackin' me up!!

Keep it coming Ladies !!!!!::rotfl2:

OMG- Poor, poor can't-get-lucky-Bucky!

Hurrah! The DIS Moms ride again!! How terrific you got to go on another adventure. I am enjoying reading all about it. :)

I had no idea you could order take out cheese soup and pretzel bread at Le Cellier! And I call myself a DISer! :scared1: Is there a number to call or you just order at the podium?

Loving all that chocolate milk you were drinking. But I have to agree that the jalapeno margarita has won me over. Ahhh.. the Ditch... would love to be there now!!!

Thanks for the review of the Mandara spa...definitely on my list for next time!

Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Hi there!! :goodvibes You don't need to call for the soup- you just order it from them where you check in inside the restaurant. If you tell them you just want to order soup & pretzel bread, they'll have a server come up and take your order- we probably waited about 5 minutes. They gave us 3 pretzel breads and the large cup of soup per order, I think it cost about $14. We easily could have shared one.

Mandara spa ROCKS!!! I STRONGLY recommend!!

Hey DisMoms - haven't been on for a while and just got caught up on your report tonight. Love, Love, Love it! You are all so fun. :cool1:

Poor Bucky! (Or better yet, Poor Kara!) :lmao:

Looks like you are all having a blast and can't wait for more.

Hi! Nice to see you!! :goodvibes Glad you're enjoying our TR- we had so much fun!!

Drea, somehow I think your drink would be a "Squirrely Temple!" :rotfl:

you moms are so funny! :lmao::lmao::lmao: I'm almost speechless.

Ellen, I think those poor little Japanese ladies were a little intimidated by your expert DISmomness. :thumbsup2 That's why they sent you up and down the stairs - or maybe they wanted Kara to walk off her rounds of chocolate milk! :goodvibes Cpngrats on your 25th coming up. Are you going to Hawaii? We ditched our Hawaii cruise for our 30th, cuz I earned the Jamaica cruise with Arbonne this year, same month.

Kara, I think your vet is just strange. :rotfl2: poor Bucky.

Joan, it's fun to see your thoughts here. You are definately and official DISmom!

I love the pressed coffee at Kona! I do love sweets for breakfast, but the Tonga toast was too much for me. I think I will have to try the Macadamia pancakes next time!
The pics of the Poly are great, looks heavenly!

I hate the way the A/C turns off at night - so nice to have your guests wake up all sweaty and having trouble going back to sleep at night - I don't know how they think that could be okay:confused3 We tried tying a balloon to a chair last time, but it was only semi-successful. I forgot to bring the override instructions with me. Looking forward to your next adventure!

Hey Tammie! Yes, we plan to go to Hawaii with Ty&Tim in 2012- we wanted to go in 2011, but I don't know if Aulani will be open yet for August. Our actual 25th is in 2011. We're thinking we'll go to Oahu and Maui. On our honeymoon we did the Big Island and Maui. Congrats on winning the Arbonne cruise!! :cheer2: That's incredible!! I love their stuff- I wish i could have made it work as a business!

And I need to bring those override instructions to Jambo in September!! I'm pretty sure I'll need them!!

WHAT??? some people have Wheaties... others Kahlua... its MY breakfast of champions LOL

me...? squirrely... never .. pish tash LOL:rotfl: ohh but now i do have a craving for vodka infused cherries... or vise versa depending on the day LOL

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for your welcomes and declarations of official "DISMomdom"....I'm honored...seriously! :)

Now where are we on this TR anyway? Ellen? Kara? Cammie? Anyone? :confused3 I'm a bit bleary-eyed after surviving my daughter's birthday party yesterday with eighteen 13 year old boys and girls and nine of those girls sleeping over. My goodness, don't kids ever sleep these days?!?!?! Sounding a bit like MY parents even to my ears.....I was about to comment on their music! :rotfl2:

We are up to us going into MK after breakfast, I think. I'll be back later to update- but you can go ahead of me, I don't mind! :goodvibes

You guys are so hilarious! I'm not a mom but I want to go on a DisMom trip!

Thanks!! We haven't even gotten started!!

Kara, you just THINK Bucky loved you before!! To quote cousin Eddie from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: "He's got a little bit of Mississippi Mudhound in him, so you don't want him around if you're wearing short pants, if you know what I mean. But a word of advice: if he does let into you, it's best to just let him finish." :rotfl2:

- Cousin Eddie, circa 1989

alan--i just spit my lunch out! That was awesome!!!

OMG ALAN!!! That's PERFECT!!!!

Subscribing. Your tr's are awesome. DH and I love reading them. Keep up the good work.

Awww.... thanks!! We're all happy to entertain!!

I LOVE COUSIN EDDIE!!!! Cause we all have a cousin Eddie somewhere in our family.....:rolleyes1

I may be MIA for a couple of days - movers come tomorrow to pack for two days and load us up on Friday. Don't know what my online status will be during this time.

Wish me luck!!!!

Good luck Kara! I know one of my moms stipulations for getting her to relocate when my dad was transferred years ago was that she had to have movers come in to pack and move our stuff, then unload the truck when we got to our new house. It was so nice!

As for hair, I am at the growing out phase from a chin length bob. LOL. My friend and I have entered into a pact that if ever one of us says we want to chop our hair off again, the other gets to smack the one who said it!:lmao:

Ellen, we will be going down 9/15-19. We keep talking about how much fun, and TIME we will have there without the kids and we get giddy with excitement. We went on our honeymoon, and had an amazing time. Our 4 year old has been 3 times, and our 2 year old twice. We don't feel bad at all.:cloud9:

Oh believe me they are packing, loading and unloading. The company would pay for unpacking too, but I don't want someone unpacking a box that will end up in storage anyway. So I've taking a full week off work so I can take my time and unpack at MY pace!

This is the best trip report! Love the updates from different DISMoms. The bantering back and forth is hilarious! :rotfl:

Yep. If you don't have a Cousin Eddie in your family, then you ARE Cousin Eddie!

Best of luck with the move.

Hi Ellen. I'm here to be one of those creepy internet friends you mentioned in the first post. I caught this thread pimp on the Friendies thread. ;)

I must say that I could easily blend in even though I don't have kids.
BCV is my home resort, so I'm familiar with the villas. I don't care for the Laverne and Shirley bathroom doors (in 1 BR/2BR villas) that lead everywhere, but I figured out a system immediately. And I've had the same coldness issues. Ceiling fans do help. As for the TV remote, I've had that happen a couple times at different resorts. I was able to speed dial someone to come and replace it, no problems.

I have only done the spa thing once, at the Grand Floridian, 10 years ago. I think it's time for me to re-visit the spa, but when do I have time? :rotfl2:

And I guess I'm definitely guilty of sharing my love of the Ditch. Since I went there every day of my October trip, I managed to try quite a few varieties of margarita, some tequila shots, and of course, the snackables. The shrimp ceviche is my favorite thing, but I do enjoy those crab tostadas! I would live in the Ditch if I could.

Kona Cafe breakfast. Press pot coffee and Lilikoi juice.
Reason enough to eat there. I don't want to eat Tonga Toast unless I can share it. It's too much for me now. I've wanted to try the pancakes. Until I saw the Samoan. The pulled pork hash sold me. I really have to try it now.

I am enjoying your adventures. :goodvibes

GOOD FOR YOU! So happy to hear you aren't feeling guilty- ALL parents need a break- and it's so wonderful to be able to focus on what you two need and not what everyone else needs on vacation! Pods & I are going 9/24-9/29.:banana:

This is the best trip report! Love the updates from different DISMoms. The bantering back and forth is hilarious! :rotfl:

THANKS!! :goodvibes Glad you like the bantering- in person it is side-splitting!! :rotfl2:

That is so funny!! I have alot of friends around town who are either DVC owners or DVC nuts, but none are DISers. Although one of the teachers in town is- at a school my kids don't attend, and I met here HERE. I just love it when people connect! :thumbsup2

Hi there!! I am SOOOO HAPPY you decided to pay a visit! I have LOVED all your foodie advice for so long, your reviews are fabulous! :worship::worship: I have to say, ITA with you, even without kids you would easily blend in with us- having read all you've written, you are our kinda girl! :rotfl:

That bathroom set up is a little crazy at BCV, but in the end I felt it was a good thing- because someone could shower while someone else could be getting ready, etc, KWIM? I'll be going back in October for 2 nights before the cruise we're taking....have to tell you I will be glued to everything all you friendies have to say about the F&W booths since I will have only a day or maybe two to partake. We were totally screwed out of F&W this year when they switched their dates after we had booked AKV Concierge. But I'm not that upset about it now....just more reason to live in the Ditch! I will be on them at BCV though to get more blankets and a better remote right away, too- we're in a 1 bdrm, now I'll know what to do.

Oh- and yes- you MUST try that Somoan. :worship: :worship: :worship: What a great surprise that was! :thumbsup2

Kara - GOOD LUCK with the move. Hope everything goes smoothly!

So...Kara, Joan, Pam & I hit the monorail to MK. It seemed to be a tad bit crowded when we arrived. But it was Saturday, after all- I guess we just were a litttle surprised it was this crowded on May 1st. Anyway...

2010_0504dismoms20100018.jpg

We did a little bit of shopping (something I personally NEVER get to do when I am here with my family of men) and cut through Caseys, just in time for the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate it! Parade. Also, another thing I rarely get to do when I'm with my boys...and i LOVE a parade!! Do you know, this is the FIRST time I have seen this? Ugh...I need a little one! Can i borrow someone's?? Anyway, we found a great spot at the top of Main Street, and the moving and shaking began!!

I was having the BEST time dancing with them!! Well, except for the part where my camera was smackin me everytime I jumped around, but...whateva...

2010_0504dismoms20100030.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100031.jpg

After we were good and sweaty, we decided to head for BTMR. But look!! Mr. Pumpkin was waiting to say hello!!

2010_0504dismoms20100027.jpg

Very seasonal for May 1st, doncha think? :rotfl:

2010_0504dismoms20100032.jpg

Captain Jack was about to instruct his newest pirate recruits-

2010_0504dismoms20100035.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100037.jpg

Of course, after THAT we HAD to ride POC...well, that and the fact that it's soooooo cooooool in POC and it was FREAKIN' HOT in Florida that day!!

2010_0504dismoms20100040.jpg

We scored FPs for BTMRR and then barely waited for HM, which was nice-

2010_0504dismoms20100041.jpg

This was the best I could do :faint:

2010_0504dismoms20100042.jpg

Followed by a little Philharmagic-

2010_0504dismoms20100043.jpg

And maybe we went on Buzz? Before we did BTMRR, and scored Pam & Joan's first ever (and my second ever) Dole Whip. YUMMMMMMM..... and ahhhh....nice and cold. :thumbsup2 We wiggled our way back through Caseys & the shops, and headed for the bus to BCV- it was DEFINITELY a great day for the POOL! So back to the villa to change into our suits-

Just Kara & I wanted to go for a swim- figuring we'd join Cammie & Lonnie, EXCEPT...they had HAD it with Stormalong Bay by then- I think the pool had been closed a few times while they were there due to unidentified floating objects...:scared1: and although they made FINE use of the down time by taking full advantage of the offerings at Hurricane Hannah's, they wanted to try something else (I think they headed to the BCV quiet pool). But Kara and I? We weren't gonna let a couple of Mars bars wanna-be floaters discourage us- the pool slide was closing after today for refurb, and we wanted to go for a RIDE! :woohoo:

Up next- what IS really floating in Stormalong Bay and why are Kara and I laughing at HER???

you can borrow my little one anytime you want to see those parades! he absolutely has a blast watching them.. when we went in december he was gettin' down with his bad self :lmao:

you ladies rock! i can't wait to hear all about going down the slide a million times! wooo!

Awww....thanks!! And you can borrow my big boys for thrill rides, smelly feet and back-talk anytime too!! :rotfl: Really- I do miss having a little one at WDW, but, then again....there's alot to be said for having older ones, too. I guess it's all good! :goodvibes
