Are You planning a trip to Disneyland in December?

I sure hope the forecast does change. As of today it is:

Wed Dec 9 Considerable cloudiness
Thurs Dec 10 RAIN
Friday Dec 11 Periods of RAIN
Saturday Dec 12 RAIN

A little rain is okay- but not everyday............ Hope it at least changes to merely showers.
Least it won't be crowded.

I can't help myself from watching the weather in Anaheim now that we're so close, either. But, last night and today are a perfect example of why weather watching a week or more out just isn't reliable. 48 hours ago, we were scheduled to have sunny to partly cloudy skies in the section of the Sierra Nevada mountains where we're spending Thanksgiving with family. 24 hours ago it said there might be some rain. 18 hours ago it said there would be snow mixed in with rain. 15 hours ago it said it would snow all night and on into noon. 12 hours ago it said it would snow until noon today and then rain/snow up until the evening hours today. What really happened is that it snowed for a few hours last night, enough to give a lovely white blanket. They can't even predict within hours what will really happen! In fact, I think accuweather is still showing it's going to snow on and off today (including within the next hour). I guess it's possible, but looking outside, I wouldn't say it's too likely.

We are on our way! Should be arriving around 6 or so tonight and will head to the parks first thing in the morning.
Hoping for good weather this week! I will try and update on crowds and weather.

Hurray! Have soooo much fun and do keep us updated! The first of the December crowd is on their way!!!

I check the forecasts to get an idea of what the weather may be, but always keep in mind that the weather could suddenly change. My primary concern is weather on the Grapevine, Thursday. I plan to drive that route. I would change to a longer coastal drive (260 vs 375 miles) if the Grapevine were to be closed due to snow, which occasionally happens this time of year. However, I will get to DL, 3 December, one way or another.:teleport:

Yeah, getting stuck on the Grapevine is no fun! I've had it happen a few times and if it happens when you're trying to get there for a special event (like the time my DS was in labor and I wanted to be there for the birth!), it's absolutely the pits. I think getting stuck on your way to DL would be right up there! Here's to wishing you clear weather and clear sailing (er...driving) on your way south!

Will be checking the Grapevine area forecast Wednesday night and before I hit the road at o-dark-30 in the morning. The coastal route, though a couple hours longer, is more scenic.:drive:

You guys are right about it is not fun to get stuck on the Grapevine on I-5. When I was coming home with my DBF on a Sunday Sept 13, there was a huge accident on I-5 northbound to Sacramento, and all the lanes were blocked off, so we had to wait for over 2 hours until they cleared all the wreckage.

Its not fun to go up on the Grapevine, especially during the winter season.

I'm hoping to not have rain every minute of our trip, LOL, but as long as I can see Fantasmic and Tiana's show, I will be OK. :) With a lot of luck I can manage Tiana's show and Fantasmic on Wednesday, even. I'm still hoping there's rain on maybe Friday or Saturday and not every day, but it will be delightful regardless. (And I know I get really great pictures in the rain! :) )

All this rain talk has got me paranoid :scared1:, going to put off the park hopper purchase for a few more days, lol. I would hate to get the 4 day pass and only use 2 days.

Reading up on all the past rain threads too, probably not a good thing since now I want to pack an entire set of rain attire, lol.

Why would you use only 2 days? I would still go and enjoy the park. Trust me, I've been there when it seems it did nothing but rain and it was a freezing rain. We got to walk on everything and even had our own boats for rides like IASW and POTC and even had our own car on Indy & HMH was a walk on! :yay:
I don't love it when it rains, but I sure wouldn't alter my travel plans because of the rain either. Go and enjoy! Be glad you get to go!:thumbsup2 I wish I could go...This is the first holiday season I'm missing since 2001.

See, I almost never get rain at home, so the idea of some rain (which happens to frighten off many of the local visitors!) sounds nice to me.

And yes, when I read the rain threads, I read everyone saying how everything's a walk on all day. I definitely want at least 1 sunny day and 1 clear night so I can see Tiana's show, and Murphy. The Christmas season isn't really a great time for inclement weather, but reduced crowds would be awesome.

With all this talk, I'll bet it doesn't rain at all. :flower3: Though a cloudy day where it LOOKS like rain would be nice too. ;)

What's the link to the Grapevine area forecast? Is it just "weather on the grapevine"? Oh I checked the weather today, and it's "clouds clouds and clouds" Like I said it changes everyday

On www.weather.com I've found "Grapevine, CA" and "Lebec, CA" will provide the weather forecast for the Grapevine. Just looked and the 3 December forecast is for mostly sunny, 37F low, 60F high.:thumbsup2

this is what we check...nothing like a visual to really get the idea of what's going on! you can even get this on your Iphone if you have one, so you can see what's going on while you are on your way there! I have it as a bookmark in my yahoo page, which I open with Safari on my Iphone. Grapevine is toward the bottom...there is some snow today, but looks like the roads are all clear :)
Oh! and the Hojo's webcam is on there too!!
and the wunderground weather links....

Latest update for my trip (and a ton of folks'!). I honestly doubt there will be much rain by the time the forecast shakes out, but I read somewhere that on average in December there is rain for every 1 day in 5, so maybe we'll get some crowd-scaring rain at least one of our days. (Preferably a weekend day, as far as I am concerned. :) )

Wednesday, Dec 9 - Sun and some clouds
Thursday, Dec 10 - Considerable clouds
Friday, Dec 11 - Mostly cloudy
Saturday, Dec 12 - Mostly cloudy with a shower
Sunday, Dec 13 - Cloudy with a shower

Anyone who's leaving now or soon, have a wonderful and safe trip! :)

My son (age 7) and I will be at the GCV 26th-30th. We are waitlisted to add the 30th-2nd, but have planned a backup at the Hyatt OC if that doesn't come through.

:)

Seems like the weather forcast changes everyday. Yesterday it was cloudy cloudy cloudy, and now it's rain rain rain. I don't think it knows what it's doing.
