I'm starting a thread for all those who are juuuuuuuuuuust beginning to plan a trip in December.
We went last year and it really made the christmas season extra special.
Now comes the fun part, the planning.. and the hard part..the saving!
So if You are thinking of going in December.. Welcome to this thread!
We can share info about events, the candelight procession.. the christmas tour, anybody gone on it ? care to share your experience, cost and what you do on it?

‘Holiday Time at Disneyland’ - (Seasonal)


Disneyland's 'Holiday Time at Disneyland' is a guided tour filled with holiday history, legend and customs of cultures throughout the world. You'll learn how these traditions are a part of Disneyland's holiday heritage.

Tour Highlights:

Priority boarding on two holiday themed attractions
Sweet treat and beverage
Collectible trading pin
Collectible Tour Tag Ornament
Reserved seating for 'A Christmas Fantasy Parade'
Price: $59 per person

20% discount for Deluxe/Premium Annual Passholders, AAA Members and Disney Visa Cardholders

Tours are offered daily at 10:00am with a capacity of 20 guests per tour. Each tour lasts approximately two and half hours. Valid Disneyland Park admission is required. Reservations can be made by calling 1-714-781-4400 up to 30 days in advance

We took the Holiday Tour last year. Since you will have grandchildren with you, I would absoultely recommend the tour. You will get reserved seats for the Christmas parade. There were two little girls in our group, and during the parade, nearly every character that was walking came over and paid special attention to the two girls! Snowmen, Reindeer, the Stepsisters, gingerbread men, it was great! Those two little girls were having the time of their life!

Plus you get a pin, a yummy gingerbread cookie and hot chocolate!

Closures and refurbishments

Opera House is closed until Mr. Lincoln returns December, 2009.
Disney's World of Color viewing area on the south side of the bay is supposed to open December 12, 2009.
Starting January 2010 the area from the CALIFORNIA sign to Sunshine Plaza will be undergoing changes. CALIFORNIA sign will be removed and a Pan Pacific Theater type of turnstiles area will be installed. The current DCA turnstiles will be removed and the front area extended out to the new turnstile location. The Red Car Trolley line is supposed to be put in and the monorail bridge and shop facades will be rethemed.
Point Mugu Tattoo, Man Hat N Beach, and Sideshow Shirts will close Fall, 2009 and reopen in 2010.
Mullholland Madness is scheduled for retheming and closure in early January, 2010.
Dinosaur Jack’s Sunglass Shack is scheduled to close permanently on May 26th, 2009.
S.S. rustworthy removal is scheduled for removal Septembre, 2009 and no later than March, 2010.
Removal of Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion, addition of a grill type of restaurant. Scheduled to start Fall, 2009 and finish by March 2010.
Souvenir 66 and Corn Dog Castle close June 1, 2009 and may not be back until 2011. Try getting a corndog at at the red wagon near Plaza Inn.
July 27, 2009 is the beginning of a year long closure of the Orange Stinger while it is getting a refurbishment, new theming, and a covered walkway.

We will most likely be going! If WDW extends their current deal, we'll go there, cause I sooo want to see the Osbourne lights and the gingerbread house at the GF!

If not, we will come to DLR. Either way, I have to get my Disney Christmas fix!

I really appreciate your review of the Christmas tour and I posted your review beneath the info on the tour so it can help others You sold me ...we just went on the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour and it was really great.. i would highly recommend that.
I added you to the trip list.. when you find out where you are going we can update that. Disney does christmas sooooooOOooo SpeciaL!
I Love Grand Floridian, it holds so many happy memories for our family, we would stay there when our children were little. Now we live closer to Disneyland than WDW so noooooo Grand Floridian.

Things I need to do...

1. See if there is a school calendar out, as all three grandchildren will be in school. So we will have to go over a thurs, friday, sat, sun. Or go friday night, sat morning, sun, monday and go home tuesday?

2. Check expiration dates on annual passes for the kids and my mom, book trip around that.

3. Open long term savings for this trip.

4. Begin using southwest airlines card to acrue rapid reward free flights { have 1 need 5 more}

I am going in December but im not sure when. DO you goys think the Processional will effect crowds? I probably will not do the Candlelight Processional, so if crowds will be worse this week than say, the 2nd weekend of Dec., I will avoid it. Any thoughts?
