February 2010

Hi nemofans, I just made my resort reservations today and they said on 10/27 they are going to 180 day dining reservations, so you may want to call that day.

We will be there 2/13 - 19. Staying at CBR and hoping for some nice warm weather

Winter is a crapshoot with weather. I've had high 40's during the day and I've had 80's during the day. Be prepared for both.

Adding you to the list

Really? I read that they are releasing the calendars for 180 days in advance. I didn't know ADRs would be too.

I just found that info. I am actually not happy about that release date. That's only a few days b4 my 90 day window & now MANY people will be able to make ADRs then. It will be impossible to get on to make ADRs. Plus, it would be nice to have a few days to go over the calendar b4 making ADRs.
I guess Oct. 27th is the big day.

Isn't that a bummer. It's gonna be crazy on Oct 27th.

Count me in. Going February 1-11th at... somewhere. Currently booked at POP as a placeholder but looking for some decent discounts or even better yet buy 4 get 3 and then I'd move up to the Poly.

I've never been this time of year, but it's the only time I can use 2009's vacations as work has been crazy and I'd rather not just forfit them. How are crowd levels and park hours?

Crowd levels are low. However February 5-7th, DHS hosts the National High School Cheerleading Competition. They also use DHS as a transportation hub to and from the Wide World of Sports. When you are planning try and avoid DHS on Fri/Sat/Sun.

Park hours vary, but most parks close early. AK usually by 5. DHS by 7. MK by 8 and Epcot at 9. Check the historical hours here on the DIS and it'll give you a rough idea of what to expect.

I've been 5 times late Jan/early Feb, it's a great time to go.

Hey Jordan,

I am listed but have actually changed my dates to 1/31-2/7!!!

I remember the last time I went to WDW the dancers were there, along with cheerleaders and it was President's Day weekend.. TOTAL madness, everywhere. I assume alot of it was President's Day though..

I am avoiding DHS that weekend, but I wonder, will I notice much of an increase in crowds at the other parks that weekend do you think? I am thinking about going to Universal or something possibly.

I don't think the other parks will be that bad. People save up their vacation time for President's Weekend. Of course, if WDW continues to run some sort of promotional discounts to get people to stay on property that might change.

Other than DHS, I wouldn't worry too much about the other parks.

Thanks so much!

By the way, though I know the dancers will be there from UDA Feb 5-7 but from what I can tell not the cheerleaders.

I actually googled National High School Cheerleading Championships (because the two together would drive me batty crowd wise) and at Varsity.com they actually say that will be Feb 12-16 at DHS.. just a heads up for all you fellow disers going then!

We will be going to WDW February 5th to the 12th. As to where we are staying, I don't know! We have narrowed it down to Beach Club, Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian... Suggestions and thoughts are always welcome. We have a 3 year old, so kids activities are a plus.

Perhaps a Diser cocktail hour that week???? :goodvibes

We have a 4-day Disney cruise booked for Feb 14-18. We were thinking of staying at WDW for 3 days prior to the cruise, and maybe 3 days after the cruise, if we can get a good room discount. We'd probably stay in two different resorts.

I've never booked a split stay before.

When should we book this? Can we book now and apply any discounts that may be offered later? Should I wait to see what discounts are offered?

Would it be cheaper to book the first three nights as a package stay with 7-day park tickets (instead of booking two separate packages)?

Thanks for any assistance!

I'll update the list.

There is no beating the Poly and the GF for convenience to the MK.

That said, I LOVE the Beach Club. It may not have the grand lobby of the GF or the restaurants like either the GF or Poly. It does have the advantage of being very close to 2 theme parks. It's a short boat ride away from DHS and a very short walk to Epcot.....

Did someone say cocktail?;) If you read my PTR, you'll see I'm on the wagon temporarily.

You are absolutely right about not booking 2 packages and I do think you might be better off doing room only for both.....although now I don't think there's that much difference between the package and room only any more.

Let me know your final dates.

Thinking about:
WDW: Feb 11-14
Cruise: Feb 14-18
WDW: Feb 18-21

I'm pushing for the second resort stay after the cruise, because there is little difference between three-day park tickets and seven-day park tickets.

Plus, I think that just three days in the parks is much too short (even though we did just go in August).

I just updated the list with folks from the other thread going in the Doing the Happy Dance forum
