Aimee- I did through the Holidays. It was hard going back but if I can do it ....

I know that you are swamped so counting points, measuring food and constantly thinking about it can overwhelm you.

I would try to make choices using the healthy guidelines. Choose fruit and veggies whenever you can and choose WW pastas and whole grains over white flour and processed foods.

Choose lean protein whenever possible

Try to avoid fast food.

Modify the fats in your diet and make sure that you have enough dairy calcium

Worry about WW when your life calms down.

The schools here where I am get out on Friday and we go back August 31st.

Our kids got out June 5 and go back Aug 26 this year. They used to go back the first of August but some new state legislation doesn't let them anymore

I spoke to my MIL, Leona & she does not have cancer in her lung, biopsies are negative. They don't know what is appearing on all the tests, she will be followed by her cardiologist & pulmonary group from now on. They have rescheduled her knee replacement for mid-August.

Here is the recipe from dinner last night - very tasty and just 7 points a serving!

Armenian Beef Kebabs

Serves 4
Active: 25 minutes
Total: 35 minutes

Tabbouleh
1 cup water
3/4 cup whole wheat couscous
1 medium tomato, chopped
1/2 large seedless cucumber, chopped
4 scallions, chopped
1/4 cup chopped mint
3 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt

Kebabs
1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped mint
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp each ground cumin and paprika
1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
8 skewers, 6-8 inch long

1. Tabbouleh: Heat broiler. Heat water in small saucepan and prepare couscous as box directs; let cool. Toss with remaining tabbouleh ingredients in large bowl.

2. Kebabs: mix all ingredients in medium bowl until well blended. Divide into 8 portions (about 1/4 cup each) and form each into a sausage like shape, about 1 in thick, around each skewer.

3. Place skewers on broiler pan; broil 8-10 minutes, turning once.

Serve with pickled red onions (which I did not make because I don't like onions!):
Thinly slice 1 red onion, toss with 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1/4 tsp each ground cumin and salt. Let mixture stand 15 minutes until onions are limp.

Per serving: 336 cal, 27 g pro, 28 g carb, 6 g fiber, 14 g fat (4 g saturated), 69 mg chol, 648 mg sod

I am sooooooooooooooooooo jealous of you guys going to the F&W Festival together! I really wish I could be there. I have a request for you guys who are going to the California Grill- PLEASE take some pictures of you guys while there! It's me and Scott's favorite and I'd love to see you guys there.

Baseball Update: Tonight was the team's first playoff game and they won! 11-2. The best thing was that Liam was the starting pitcher, and he was awesome. He pitched five innings and only gave up two runs. He struck out the side twice and didn't walk anyone. He was really happy, but exhausted. He went right to bed when we got home.

It is miserably hot down here, mid 90's, humid, heat index over 100. No break in sight for over a week. I'll try not to use the oven unless absolutely necessary.

Good morning ladies! I was up late last night and early this morning working on issues with my iphone. Ugh! The new operating system came out yesterday and when I tried to update my phone it went all haywire. Oh well, I think I've got it all sorted out now. Good thing, b/c for service I either have to have a service person call me (and that is my only phone, not a good option when it's not working) or go to the closest Apple store which is in Memphis. Glad to know I won't have to do either now.

WFD will be steak fajitas--leaving it for my mom to fix. My dinner will be on the run again. Love those work nights.

It is miserable weather here today. I was going to go shopping but I do not want to take Thomas out in this. It is supposed to thunder and lightening. It’s OK though…I am a bit hungover. Tom decided to make Cosmos and I think I had 4 or 5!!! I will go shopping tomorrow. I have to get some clothes that fit. My clothes from before pg are still a bit snug. Have to do the bathing suit thing too. UGH! I am down 8 pounds…so that is a good start for me!!!

Have a great day all! Gotta go get my ribs off the stove. I parboiled them in water, apple cider vinegar and some liquid smoke, now have to dump them in some marinade! YUM!

I decided why I didn't pack was because I wanted to hear Leona's results in case we needed to cancel & also I'm having a big issue with what to pack with the people that are used to Cunard cruising....I think I need a self esteem check
I wanted to share with all of you that this cruise is a gift from my Mom to Greg & I. After all the miscarriages, illness, hospital stays, infertility treatments, moves, downsizing she wanted us to celebrate what we have survived & that it has actually made us stronger.
I have shared with Nancy that I have had major guilt about taking something so costly as a gift but with the help of Nan she taught me that Moms give from a loving place & she wanted to see me experience this. Not accepting would have caused my Mom heartbreak......I'm sure all you Moms understand that but I'm just not 100% there. Thank you Nancy for holding my hand through this, I love you.

Going for hair, mani & pedi at 3:30.

Not sure on dinner - I am working from home today because I have to buy all the VBS and camp supplies and there is no point in driving into work just to go shopping when I can do it near my house. DH is going to come along with me, which is good since I usually end up with a couple of carts.
