BL Summer Challenge 2009

I took a 12 mile bike ride with DH and DS11 tonight. There were so many hills involved and I guess I had my gears set too high too - I noticed at one point when going up a hill that it seemed like the brakes were on because it got SO hard pedal (duh - yeah)! Even my arms are sore from the angle and holding the handle bar so tight!

Monday QOTD: Are you in tune with how your body reacts to foods? Do you listen to your body for cues it gives you?
I'm not all that in tune, but more so lately. After a way off plan day or meal, I'll feel lethargic the next day. I don't always listen to body cues about being full - but I'm MUCH better at that since I started counting cals and doing BL!

Impressive! It would have to be a flat track for me to be able to bike 12 miles. What a great workout! I was doing some biking with DS in April and May, but I haven't recently. Maybe we should get back to it...................P

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

Mine is my Garmin Forerunner that tells me how many miles I have gone and how many calories I have burned.

I did push my bike up serveral hills, lol! It wasn't all on the bike. I was tuckered out for sure and my BUTT hurts today, lol!

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

.

I like the precor - a mix of a step machine and a treadmill - similar to an eliptical without the arm part. I did 45 minutes on it last night and then 33 minutes on the treadmill.

Have a great day all!

Sarah

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

Does my personal trainer count?:rolleyes1 My favorite piece of equipment is my Zune. I can load my music, movie or podcast while working out on the treadmill, bike or even just walking around the neighborhood. I love that I can create my own playlists or shuffle all the music. I wish it calculated calories and told me how far was walking and what my heart rate is, but that is another contraption that I have to invest in.

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

Good one, Melanie! I also LOVE my Garmin and hate to be without it, but in the interest of naming something different....I''m going to say it is a toss-up between my last-generation clippie iPod shuffle (the new tiny one appeals to me zero percent because of the control on the earbud cord and because - no color???) and my smartwool socks!

Also, Road ID buys me a lot of peace of mind.

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

Well.... I don't really have one. The only things I own are a treadmill and a Wii Fit, plus some DVDs. I use them all equally. I guess my sneakers would be my favorite piece of equipment.

I would be interested in hearing other answers. I would be interested in investing in more equipment if I knew I would use it. I think my next purchase will be the Wii Active. I've had it in my hand a few times and put it back.....................P

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

I'd have to say mine is my stepper. For a simple plastic box, it is the easiest thing I have for jumping up and doing a workout.

Just to keep everybody in the loop! I will be posting the top losers later today. I did email the file to me at work, so I may get it done on my afternoon coffee break, otherwise it will be posted this evening.:flower3:

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

For me, it's my Wii Fit. Although now that I've been at it awhile I don't feel like I'm getting a great workout anymore...

Good morning, losers!

Caskbill Memorial - DIS going dark today

Caskbill (Bill Neth) has been a positive force on the DIS for years as part of the Technical Support Team and the DVC Boards. He has developed free software to aid DVC members with their planning and has also written programs to automate processes on the DVC Rent/Trade and Resort Reservtion Availability Boards here on the DIS.

As a memorial tribute to Caskbill, Pete is taking the DIS dark from 5 - 7 pm (EDT) this afternoon.

He was a good friend to many and is greatly missed.

Please join the DIS in honoring his life. (Webmaster Doc)

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite piece of equipment (equipment, propt, video, etc) for working out?

I would have to say it is a tie between my iPod so I can listen to music while I exercise and my New Life Pedometer which keeps track of my steps. I couldn't live without either one. I, too, am interested to hear the various answers because exercise is what I must do but haven't figured out how to make it enjoyable.

Impressive bike ride yesterday, MelanieC!

Have a great, OP day losers!

My favorite piece of equipment is my yoga mat. I love how I feel after yoga! Unfortunately, I don't get to use it often, but I'm hoping to change that. I'm on my reliable TM almost every day, so it get's the "workhorse" award, but it's not at soothing as the purple yoga mat!

that would be my Wii, my pedometer, and my ipod. I wear my pedometer everyday all day, all my walks I have my ipod and for home workouts it is the Wii.

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars for Week 4 of our BL Summer Challenge!

Reminders:
-after 3 weeks of no reporting, you are dropped from the challenged – (can re-start at any time, though :goodvibes)
-if anybody knows they will miss weighing in, just PM and let me know ahead of time :goodvibes
-I don't follow the BL TV version of handling gains. All losses are the simple formula of: (last week - this week) divided by last week

First some stats

not reporting in for 3 weeks ---- another 3:sad1: (they are dropped from the stats, but welcome back at anytime!)
not reporting in for 2 weeks ----3
not reporting in for 1 week -----2
Excused-----------------------0
new recruits this week----------3 :thumbsup2:cool1::banana:
weigh ins this week-------------28
gains---------------------------5

Summer Between BL Challenge Week 1
weekly total group loss for week #4 = 37.1 pounds:cool1:
Total group loss for the challenge so far = 139.7 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost this week 0.61% (which is exactly the same as week 1! so that's a good indication that our group is going strong and heading for long-term losses:cool1:!)

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me.
