The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

My kids were playing spin the bottle at lunch!

My brother joked that every time they opened the door it looked like a can of biscuits opening with them oozing out the doors.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Rock paper scissors would never work with me....I still don't get it :confused3 so I would always lose!

. We did get lunch at Chefs de France! I had forgotten that Ratatouille now made an appearance there!!! Just that was worth it, we were totally surprised & y'all should have seen Alexis! The food was delicious too!

I haven't loaded in pictures yet. I'll try to do it soon. oh, Alexis was so good!! The child kept herself entertained in the car by singing. I don't think she whined once the whole trip. It was all just great!

Welcome home! We missed you!

I know that Alexis had the time of her life, I cannot wait for pictures. I love to hear the girls sing, that trip must have been priceless :cloud9:

I hear you on the scooter and being invisible. We were in line at the airport and someone actually almost pushed a man in a wheelchair off the sidewalk into the road. His wife told me that it happens more often than anyone would believe :sad2: I could not figure out what was so important that jeopardizing a person's safety was worth

Jeff loved the Honda Fit, but in New England, it wouldnt be great in the snow, and also, we are not small people  So it would have been the Fat family in it... :rotfl2:

I dislocated my knee cap playing the Wii. I now have a Wii Knee. ( also pronounced a weenie :rotfl2:)

Fat Family :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now you all know what she is like at home......weeknee , fat family....it goes on and on

Bethany-

I broke down and made dinner. Buddy got rained out and was home lounging and I was lazy so I was going to pull leftovers out but Marisa squawked. Dinner is now a BBQ meatloaf, baked potatoes asparagus adn corn

Quick Fly by. I am so busy here at the office and trying to get ready to go that I have no time to read back. But please know I keep you all very close in good and bad times.

It is raining here again today. So I don't know if grilling is going to be an option. If not I guess it will be just tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. If I get to grill I have Chicken breasts marinating, and I will throw some veggies on and a few sweet potatoes. I love grilling season.

Make it a really great day my friends.

I'm back.

I heard from the doctor and I have a torn meniscus. It is actually torn in a few spots as well as cartilage damage. They want to repair the tears and see what they can do with the cartilage because there are some broken pieces. They are going to do an arthroscopic surgery. So now I am freaking out! I just want this to feel better :sad1:
I'm sorry about your injury. What were you doing on Wii Fit that you hurt yourself so badly? I feel dumb now for complaining about my sore arms after playing Wii Fit boxing for too long. I hope the surgery goes well and you're feeling better soon.

WFD? BBQ pork chops, peas, french fries and the grilled pineapple I didn't feel like making last night. And if DS ever quicks playing his computer game, we're going to make Chex Muddy Buddies.

Rock paper scissors would never work with me....I still don't get it :confused3 so I would always lose!

I don't feel so alone any more, I never did get it.....:confused3

Sandy - I don't think I mentioned a few weeks ago we grilled steaks using your rub and I made Maria's Chimichurri sauce on the side...Oh...My...Word...HEAVEN!!!! Two WFD recipes on one plate, doesn't get any better than that!

Woohoo! My DH got bread AND milk at the store today! That means I can have breakfast and lunch tomorrow!

WFD- tacos, provided I can find taco seasoning. The store he went to was out and I go by a different one on my way home.

:thumbsup2 Sounds good. I've always wanted to try Chimichurri sauce. I think I'll do that next time ribeyes go on sale.

Good news! Marisa scored tickets to take Kady and a friend to see Miley Cyrus in concert!

OMG...Im soooooooooo jealous !!

I love Miley Cyrus.
I took the wee lassie next door to see the film, she wasnt really fussy about going so I had to promise her popcorn ,hot dog and her pick off candy !!

So worth it............:woohoo:

The mechanic said it is going to be $400-500 just for the parts alone.
He is a friend of Ron's from high school, so generally labor is not to bad. I still think it is going to be around $800.

Ouch....cars suck the money right out.

I go Monday morning at 9:30 for my consultation with the surgeon. I want to just do it and get it done with because I cant take this anymore. My knee doesnt bend more than 45 degrees so stairs are so hard, and I am just uncomfortable.

So I need to get moving on my menu that I will send to Nan. :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear this sweetie.

What were you playing to do such damage ?

I love my Wii fit but the Yoga is EVIL !!!

Hey Y'all,

We're Home!

Hey, sounds like youse had a ball !!

Cant wait for your pic's...missed ye !!

Well, I didnt do much today....again.

This sitting around is driving me doolally.

I am taking a break from decluttering.

Marissa Wow when you do something you really do something. This is another reason why I don't exercise or clean much. Cause I tend to hurt myself. I hope the surgery is uneventful and your knee feel better than new soon.

Ellen Have a great trip in case I miss you.

Sheryl Glad your back I hope you had a great time.

Ok enough playing back to finding the bottom of the pile.:scared:

Hi Guys,

Flying by again. Dinner came out really good tonight so I took a pic. Chicken Lo Mein...Yum!

********
Marisa, I am so sorry that you need surgery. I hope you get it scheduled asap and that you heal quickly.

Welcome back Sheryl! Glad you got the scooter. Using one was really a relief for me in November. Did you get the looks that I did when you walked off of the thing? People see you get up and walk and think nothing is wrong. :sad2:

********
I will try and catch up more tomorrow...I hope everyone is having a good evening!

My kids were playing spin the bottle at lunch!

Marisa -- I'm sorry you have to have surgery, but it is an easy one to have. My MIL had her meniscus repaired last year, and I think she walked out of surgery. If not, then she was up and about very quickly, plus she is now pain free. Good luck!

Welcome back, Sheryl! Ooh...I want to try Sanaa! (Just in case you are making the ADR list Beck ;)) I'm glad you had a great trip.

This sitting around is driving me doolally.

Yes, but you better continue doing it!

Liam's team played tonight in miserable, drizzly weather. Liam was the starting pitcher and threw three innings of shut-out ball. He also had a nice hit and some good fielding plays. He left the mound with the score 5-0. However, the next pitcher did not fare as well, so the team lost 7-5. Liam was disappointed, but I told him there was nothing more he could have done. He had a great game.

I did end up making pizza for dinner. I was kind of mad because one of them stuck to the pan, and we couldn't eat some of it.

Tonight we are having canned soup for dinner!:rotfl:

Hi Guys,

Flying by again. Dinner came out really good tonight so I took a pic. Chicken Lo Mein...Yum!

ChickenLoMein.jpg

Lauren, dumb question, are those tomatoes or bell peppers?

We didn't return until last night! We were able to get another night at BCV on points!!!

I am SOOOOOOOOO jealous!!!! The Yacht and Beach Club is my *sigh, someday* resort. You MUST post pictures!

Good Morning!

Andrew has his field day today so Thomas and I will go to that for a while then off to brunch with a girlfriend. Dinner will be boneless pork chops, mashed taters and some sort of veggie.

I am really excited about Bruce. My sister wound up with tickets so it will be fun. I have not seen him in a while. Maria, we are going on the 9th.

Marisa, Again, I am so sorry to hear about you needing Wii Knee surgery…

Glynis and Sheryl, We need TRs asap!!! ;)

Vickie, How sweet is your hubby to try and upgrade! I do agree to save money on the resort if it means going back again sooner.

Speaking of Hondas, I had a CRV and I loved it! Great gas mileage too. Enough room for this big girl! The car with the most room though, has to be out Ford Five Hundred. The leg room and truck space is unbelievable. I think the marketing on that was that yu could fit like 8 sets of golf clubs in the back. I think it is now marketed as the Taurus.

Now, speaking of small cars…we had an experience like Gretchen’s Dad and Brother in Spain. Small car, 2 big people, Andrew and all of our luggage! We made jokes and laughed every time we saw a Smart Car.

Kathy, Bethany was not the only one wondering what color beans you were making Monday.

Ann, Sorry about the car issues. I hope you’re feeling well and resting.

Nancy/Marisa, Yay for Miley! Did you give Kady the tkts yet?

Janice, That drink recipe looks soooo good!

Bethany, Spin the Bottle???!!! I thought I heard it all!

Charlene, I will definitely make the kabobs when we get together.

Maria, 8 more days! Wow, you must be so excited!!!

And Ellen, you have 5 days so that means Marily is going soon too. I am so excited for you guys!

Sandy, I loved your steak rub too! It is the best ever!

Laura, Sorry the team lost but so glad to see that Liam is doing so well!

Linday, they are bell peppers. I had carrots, onion, broccoli, peppers and baby corn in there. It was so good.

OK, off to get ready. I hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry they lost but "Way to go LIAM"!!!!!:thumbsup2

Sounds like a fun day!

WFD - Pork tenderloin in a tomato cream sauce, oven roasted potatoes and sauteed spinach.

We didn't return until last night! We were able to get another night at BCV on points!!! I've realized that I need to do less vacation planning and more praying! This vacation was wonderful!!!
We did have a few heavy showers but they were great for cooling things off & thinning out crowds. Since our only priority was doing the attractions Alexis wanted it worked out fine for us. The only park that had really long lines was MK, so we were able to get her rides in during extra magic evenings. We had some really wonderful meals!!! We weren't able to get anymore character meals, but Cinderella showed up at the Princess breakfast so Alexis was thrilled with that. We didn't make it to FF decided to hang in the parks a little longer & then hang at the pool. We did get lunch at Chefs de France! I had forgotten that Ratatouille now made an appearance there!!! Just that was worth it, we were totally surprised & y'all should have seen Alexis! The food was delicious too! We also had a fabulous meal at CG! Really good! Yachtsman was very good too & we also ate at the new Kidani Village rest. Sanaa. It is ground floor level with windows opening onto the Savannah. We saw zebras & giraffe actually running & playing, it was too cool. The food was a blend of Indian & African really yummy!

I cant wait for pictures! I am so glad to hear you had a great time!

I'm sorry about your injury. What were you doing on Wii Fit that you hurt yourself so badly? I feel dumb now for complaining about my sore arms after playing Wii Fit boxing for too long. I hope the surgery goes well and you're feeling better soon.

Here's what happened.... I was playing baseball on the Wii, not on the Fit. Buddy was obsessed with baseball and we had to play over and over and over and over. So we were playing and I was batting. I went to hit and when I swung I twisted my knee and the knee cap popped out of place. I am polish and I will hurt myself doing the strangest things. I was playing kickball in school. You kick the ball and run, but somehow I broke my hand doing that :confused3

I hope the recovery isnt bad. I plan on taking a few weeks out of work. They are going to repair the meniscus and rebuild the cartilidge. So I am going to go for 8 weeks of disability

GOOD JOB LIAM! Even though they lost, he did a great job!

I have weight watchers tonight, so dinner will be something quick. I havent decided what yet though. Have a great day everyone! Is everyone ready for our mini meet on Sunday?

Good morning,

Well we made out better with my car than I originally expected. It was only $575. Imagine saying only $575 but it was better than what it could have been if we did not know the mechanic.

I am staying home today and relaxing. WFD- per my DH's request mushroom swiss cheese burgers and corn on the cob.

Sheryl, looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

Lauren, Lo Mein looked great.

Bethany, spin the bottle!!

Marisa, sorry to hear about your needed surgery.

Hugs to all, have a wonderful day!

Ann

Morning all, hope everyone has been well.

Ann- I'm glad the car was less than you expected, but it still stinks. That was quick though, at least you didn't have to worry about how much it would cost for long.

Marissa- I'm sure you'll be fine in no time, but I would avoid the baseball. I do, I always lose.

Lauren- That lo mein looked so good, I though you were teasing us and ordered take out.

Vickie- That sure was a nice thought of your husband, and it definatly is the thought that counts. The great thing about Wilderness Lodge is you can enjoy it even if you aren't staying there. We stay at the campground and walk over there and get a quick lunch or just wander around. I would rather spend less money and be able to go more often too.

Nancy/Kathy- How do you solve things in your house without playing paper rock scissors? That's how we usually figure out who will take out the dog in the rain. Actually we decide quite a few things that way, we do best out of three. I hope we never have to actually grow up.

Glynis- I'm glad you had such a great time, I'd love to see pictures.

Sheryl- I've stopped planning for our trips and just see where the day takes us. I make a list of things we have to do, and then everything else is up in the air. Of course we are never as spontanious as you guy were, I tease my husband that the only thing he has ever done spontanious was his "spontanious pneumothorax" (collapsed lung). I saw the humor in it, I'm not sure if he did (at the time). Alexis must have been on the top of the world with a suprise like that. I'm glad you got the extra night too.

Don't know what's for dinner. The kiddo has a late dentist appointment and it's a bit of a drive to get there. Tomorrow is another crazy day, it's tough getting the things I used to do in seven days done in two. I am getting a little better organized, but I did run out of a few staples. Have a great day everyone!

Ann- glad its not going to be as much as you thought.

Lauren- Lo Mein looks good. Have fun at field day.

Maria- can't wait to hear details on your itinerary just 8 days! you must be so excited.

Sheryl--your trip sounds like so much fun! Can't wait to see the pictures! Oh, and if you could send some of your PD my way, I really want my waitlist over at BWV to come through for F&W ;) Can't wait to try Saana too! With Boma and Jiko I might not eat anywhere else when we're at AKV in January!

Marisa--sorry to hear about the surgery. If it makes you feel any better the first time I was playing Wii tennis I landed in the fireplace--luckily there wasn't a fire burning at the time.

Ann--glad to hear the repairs weren't as bad as you originally thought. Sucks nonetheless

Laura--congrats to Liam for a great game! too bad they didn't win.

Planning on BBQ chicken for dinner tonight--but the weather looks a bit iffy today. Hopefully it will just stay cloudy and not rain. I really want the sun to come out, though, so I can get the kids to the pool.
