Gretchen- I would love to come.....and I already know the Blues Clues songs.....Nola likes the music so I dvr'ed evey show so it is on in the background a lot. I will also volunteer to spend time with her in the hot tub if she will share her Krispy Kremes
. Seriously, thanks for the offer to sop, I think we are all set but I am totally jealous of you right about now.
I was actually thinking of Kady. Is there something food-wise she always wanted while there but couldn't have because of the food allergies. I'd love to pick her up a mickey head rice krispy(s) or some of those mickey cookies, etc. If for no other reason than to celebrate her being able to have them.
I never had one until my last trip! I'm not a big "sweet" person - I dig the popcorn more. But it was a beautiful day and this kid walked past with one. My colleague said "yummmm, I want one of those" so I ordered one too and was hooked! They are different than bars in the grocery store. The chocolate is dark and really thick. The ice cream is solid so it doesn't melt all over you. We had one Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday that week.
Yummm. Ok that settles it. Since you've twisted my arm
I guess I'll have to try one. For strictly scientific purposes you understand. Calories consumed for scientific study don't count, right?
Aimee To bad you won't be able to eat any of that food. Hopefully there will be something for you. Dogs are great that way. They know just when to bring out their good manners
Kind of like kids.
At least mine anyway.
By the way, I am going to enjoy gardening through you. I would love to have a garden of my own but first, I don't have the time and second, I am a notorious plant killer. I even managed to kill a philodendron.
Oh no.....I Want Revenge and jockey Talamo have been scratched from the derby, the horse sprained his ankle....
I saw that. How sad for everyone. I tried to quote you about coming down with us but it disappeared. I do remember how taken you were with Hailey and honestly, if you could slip away and meet us there, we'd love to have you. I don't have any dinner reservations at all. I am planning on cooking 4 of the dinners and doing take out for the rest. We do have a couple of character breakfasts planned since Hailey likes those, but that is all. There is an extra bed in the second bedroom since Hailey sleeps with Paige or the fold out in the living area if you brought one of your guys.
OK, this baby really needs to sleep or cooperate so I can get something accomplished today. Well, I guess I did, I got pretty much caught up, right?
But when he's that cute, he doesn't always need to cooperate.
Seriously, he is precious and I do appreciate the photos since I haven't done the facebook thing yet. Like everyone else, I love the one in the basket, but I think that one is the most likely to induce mortification and the oh-mom eye roll in later years.
Sorry, I totally forgot to post about the Pinewood derby. It went really well. I'm really fortunate, in that Jacob really doesn't care about winning. For him, it was all about spending time with Alan and making his car. He ran his car 5 times. He came in second, third, and the rest fourth places. He was happy.
And that is all that really matters. Glad he had a great time. And I am sorry for poor little J.J. That story just broke my heart.
I don't really care for the mickey ice cream bars, but I'm pretty particular about my ice cream. My daughter gets a few every time we go, and she hasn't gotten any neater. We only get them at Fort Wilderness so she can eat it outside the RV and then hose off. The kids a mess when she eats and there are no signs of improvement.
I just love that mental image! Hailey is still like that. Maybe I ought to feed her one in the tub just to save myself the trouble.
Did anyone see Wife Swap last night? The father from Florida is a co-worker of mine!
No, but I certainly would have watched Peg if I'd have known. Sometimes that show blows my mind and sometimes it just makes me so mad I have to change the channel.
Yes got to the footie.
Went with good friends, sun was shining and we won the match so a fun day all round.
Pretty sore now tho but worth it !!
Holy cow Vickie! I didn't know you were PLAYING! I thought you would be safely watching. Are you sure you should be doing that so close to your surgery?
My nephew only wants "Stacey" on the t.v. the entire time we are in the hotel room. She is a cute girl but by the time she gets to #5 on the Top 10 list I'm ready to smack her!
I feel the same way. When Amanda started walking doing the "lazy people in the lazy river" impression I was really to scream! I'd much rather have Blue's Clues.
I LOVE the Mickey bars, they taste sort of like Dove bars...really rich.
at your DD and ice cream. We got ice cream at work on Thursday (my class won the attendance award for the grade for March...
they just don't stay home! ) and I had one girl with ice cream all over her face and hands...they were eating out of a bowl with a spoon.
Then to top it off, it was the end of the day so the bathrooms were locked. (Don't ask why they lock the bathrooms at the end of the day...I have no idea.)
FIVE Mickey Bars? Okay I love them but GEEZ! They are SO BAD for you...I even took a picture of the "Nutrition Facts" on the back. I have been going in August, and the heat drains my appetite so I tend not to eat a whole lot (but I drink a TON of water!) on those trips, but yet I kept gaining 10 pounds a trip.
I think living off Mickey Bars will do that to you!
Ok, as the daughter and sister of former teachers (both special ed), that just cracks me up. But now don't go ruining my Mickey ice cream love before I get my first one. I don't intend to read the nutrition info thankyouverymuch, so please, please, please don't tell me.
Ellen, FYI you are fitting right in and we are glad to have you. So glad Doug's dad is on the mend. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Kathy, I want to wear a big hat and have a mint julip too!! Thanks for being our glue and being the caring straight forward lady you are. I appreciate you more than you know.
Janice, remember it is ok to kiss and tell!!! My DH was a blind date and I have never been happier.
Ann, I second all of these! Ellen does fit right in. I want to wear a big hat (not so much on the julep) and think Kathy is wonderful for all she does for us. And I can't wait to hear about Janice's date! Kenny and I were set up too! And I'm so glad because I would never have selected him myself since he wasn't my type.
Sorry your little one is sick. At least he still feels well enough to run around the house. I much prefer that to the colds that have them lying around looking miserable. Those always broke my heart.
Hi ladies! (and any men lurkers
)
NASTY! Neither John nor I could even drink this. Bourbon is NASTY, yuck. It went down the drain. I do like bourbon in recipes--like bourbon glazed chicken, but NOT for drinking. YUCK. (Apologies to anyone that likes bourbon
)
Your drinks looked lovely even if they tasted yucky. But I do agree about bourbon. Kenny will drink it with coke, but I only use it to cook with. It makes a lovely bbq type marinade for pork tenderloin.
And thank you for sharing the story about your brother's derby car. That is just hysterical.
I can just picture your poor brother going round and round.
It's a thing our Cub Scout troops do. Each scout is given a rectangular block of wood and some wheels and axels. With their father, they are supposed to create a fantastic car that they will race. It's really a big thing here, and some father's have been known to totally leave their sons out of it so they can win. It can get really competitive, but luckily, ours didn't. It really was all about the boys.
I read this to Kenny and he laughed. He thought it was funny. I think it's just sad. Kind of like in my young niece's soccer league. It was the age bracket where they didn't even keep score, they just wanted the kids to learn the sport and have a good time. Every single game, every time, the dads were all keeping score in the stands.
I mean come on, all those kids cared about was getting their ice cream after it was over.
We stopped at Arby's for dinner to-go on our way into town tonight, got home, and found that the dogsitter had locked the door between the house and garage - neither of us thought to bring a housekey, just a garage door opener
So we sat in the garage and ate dinner while we waited for the sitter to run the key over.
Aimee, that sounds funny and oddly romantic.
Nice you didn't let it get you stressed out. I'm so type A, I'm ashamed to admit I probably would have been too aggravated to have dinner.
I'm not sure what we're having for dinner tonight, the guy is working on my kitchen floor today so I'll have to clean the saw dust up first. He is supposed to be putting in my new countertops while we are on vacation. Now this is a nice surprise from my husband, but he waited until last night to tell me he was going to have that done too. Now I have to decide on a top before I go.
It looks like formica is the only thing in the budget, but anything would be better than the lovely (not!) countertop I have now.
We also have to retile the bottom of the kids' shower. We found out there is a leak under their shower that is rotting the sub floor. The tile guy assures me he can just cut out the bottom part. It's in a 50's yellow and obviously they don't make that color anymore so I'll have to use a whitish replacement and hope it will look like an accent color and something we meant to do.
