The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Here is my best attempt:

Vickie, how are you feeling? Football today?

Becky, did the fridge arrive yet? Any bells or whistles?

Sheryl, how are things with the aide? Did Angelina hear anything back about the job and salary yet? I hope it works out and that you are feeling good. Loved alexis video on facebook. The restaurants that I love in the NYC are Carmines and Churrascuria Plataforma…I do not get into NYC as much as I used to but these are great. I hear John’s pizza is good too. Did Maria give you any good ones? If she goes to Little Italy Ferrara’s is a MUST! I knew the owners when I was married to my Ex and we went there once and had a buffet of sorts….gosh that was fun!

Nancy, sorry about the family issues at the funeral. Funerals always bring the good and the bad out of the woodwork. I bet kim’s dog biscuit would’ve been better with gravy!!!

Robyn, Canoeing sounds like fun. We have a lot of kayaking here. I am afraid to try it though. I am afraid of getting stuck in the freakin thing!!! Lol I need carbs too. Diet did not go as well as planned…gotta really get on track here. Sorry about your jaw problem. I hate the dentist…I guess I need to get there soon…I have put it off for a long time!

GRAVY…love the stuff and love it on rice as well!!! Nothing like a homemade gravy!!!

Ann, glad things are going well. Emma will be here soon!!!

Laura, Have fun while you are being Mom’s taxi!!! Sorry for Greg getting hurt but glad it was ok to get going again and passing to the next phase. He is in my prayers.

Maria, how was the burger joint? How are u guys feeling? Glad you nose is clear.

Marilyn, have fun with your sister!

Ellen, glad doug’s dad is doing well. Yay for your banner!

Gretchen, again, so glad for you dad…continued prayers. That recipe looks soooo good!

Aimee, glad you areenjoying your trip…shopping and seeing you mom and friends. Sorry for all the drama though. Enjoy your furbabies later!

Bethany, yay for your move getting closer. I am trying to clean too but my ****ala is fussing today.

Glynis, How was the derby? Any pics?

Kathy, That is so neat about Kyle’s friend. I will be routing for him and your horse. We have a friend that has a charity event and a track in NJ every year. I cannot wait to go…I love the horses! I better go check to see when its on (the derby). We'll have to go wear big hats and drink juleps together...hey that would be a fun WFD meet!

janice, have a great time tomorrow!!!

Have a great day all!

Oh no.....I Want Revenge and jockey Talamo have been scratched from the derby, the horse sprained his ankle....:sad1:

Marisa and her girlfriends thought that I had no life, they were about 12 or 13. One day I came home and my bed was loaded up with clothes....all donated from their closets.....they had taken a collection of their favorites in order to spice me up so I would finally have a date. Generous creatures they were :lmao:. Picture a 30 odd year old woman wearing clothes that very young teenagers would wear.....but they figured it would solve my problem.

What a great story.:goodvibes I really enjoyed chatting with you this morning.

I woke up at 5 this morning with grand intentions to start packing and cleaning and all that, but a migraine sent me right back to bed and I just got up again.

Hope you're feeling better.

I missed Nan's story...what a hoot!

What a shame about I Want Revenge...

OK, this baby really needs to sleep or cooperate so I can get something accomplished today. Well, I guess I did, I got pretty much caught up, right?

Ladies, this is just a quick check in but I had to share my fabulous news. The MRI has come back and the cancer has NOT spread to Daddy's brain. Because of the position of the tumor on his vertebrae this was a concern of the oncologist. So this is one hurdle we have made it over.

He is getting his chemo today and will get another treatment in 3 weeks. Two weeks after that they will do another PET scan to see how effective the treatment is.

Just read back a bit and saw this. Fantastic news! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I totally forgot to post about the Pinewood derby. It went really well. I'm really fortunate, in that Jacob really doesn't care about winning. For him, it was all about spending time with Alan and making his car. He ran his car 5 times. He came in second, third, and the rest fourth places. He was happy.

I totally forgot to take any pictures, because I was busy trying to keep all the other mom's there from picking the baby up. Our doctor really doesn't want him out in society, as he has had a cold for the last couple of months, and he's a bit worried about him as weak lungs run in Alan's family.

But, it was still a fun night!

It's a rainy, lazy day here- not to much going on.

Lauren- Thanks for posting the pictures, I don't do face book so I enjoyed seeing them. I'm signed up for myspace, but only to see pictures of my nephew so I only check it when I get an email that there are new pics. I've never kayaked either, I was scared of getting stuck too! I didn't realize how open they really are.

Aimee- Sorry you can't eat anything, but that sounds like a great wedding. I just really love pulled pork. I hope everything works out well.

Kathy- I remember Lauren mentioning you had a lot going on a couple of weeks ago, I hope all is well with you and your family.

Bethany- I haven't gotten any scrapbooking done since I got a digital camera, I don't know how to get my pictures. I'm sure packing will get easier with such an exciting future ahead of you.

Laura- Great news for Greg, Liam and Caili must be so proud.

I don't really care for the mickey ice cream bars, but I'm pretty particular about my ice cream. My daughter gets a few every time we go, and she hasn't gotten any neater. We only get them at Fort Wilderness so she can eat it outside the RV and then hose off. The kids a mess when she eats and there are no signs of improvement.

I think I'm making baked ziti for dinner (at least it's with barilla plus) but I don't want to go to the store. See you all later, probably not till monday.

Did anyone see Wife Swap last night? The father from Florida is a co-worker of mine! :happytv:

That guy who works for the church? I did watch it but think I fell asleep or taped the last part of it? I cannot remember...he seemed a little strange. Is he? He was so dead against moving that patio table, totally ignoring the ladies. I wanted to hit him.

ETA: Wait a minute...I am confusing my reality tv (what I stated above was from the nanny show)...are you talking about the guy that was pretending to be in a haunted house? that yelled at the other dad?

I am so happy for youse....wonderful news !! :banana::banana:

Ladies, I'm doing my last minute packing/to do lists before we leave next Saturday. Does anyone want me to pick up anything from WDW while I'm there?

If I wasnt so far away Id give youse a list....

Well ladies I think I have a date tomorrow.:scared: wish me luck. I meet someone who seems really nice. It would be nice to go out once in a while.

Hope you have a great time...we want details !! ;)

I can't wait to be out of this system either. Incidentally, some teachers that left my school last June ended up at a school about 10 blocks away from mine this year. A friend from my school ran into one of them on the train the other day, and she says it's TOTALLY different there because the administration actually *appreciates* the teachers. So apparently all schools are NOT like mine (who knew?!? :confused3) even within NYC. (Which I KNEW, but a lot ARE like mine, and transferring carries that risk of hit or miss...)

Anyways...back to the boxes. :headache:

Thats a great thing to hear. This is the start of some thing fab for youse...now get packing !!

Here is my best attempt:

Last trip we went to MBYBBQ and Mickey bars was the sweet,it was self serve so you could have as many as you liked....the guy sitting next to us had 5 !!

ETA: Wait a minute...I am confusing my reality tv (what I stated above was from the nanny show)...are you talking about the guy that was pretending to be in a haunted house? that yelled at the other dad?

The older gray haired father is my co-worker. He is a professor and wore the tie at home. He did yell at the other guy at the table at the end. But that guy (haunted house guy) deserved it.

Come on! The only requirement is you must be able to tune out the Blue's Clues and/or Teletubbies that will be playing almost constantly from Hailey's TV. And you must be willing to be at her beck and call. ;) She thinks that everyone who is with her must be there to serve her every need. She is at that developmental age when she still thinks that it is an honor to be selected to be the one to fill her juice cup, etc. I can't tell you how many of our friends who have had a sucker shoved into their hands to be opened or a juice cup given to them to be filled. But she isn't shy. :lmao:

My nephew only wants "Stacey" on the t.v. the entire time we are in the hotel room. She is a cute girl but by the time she gets to #5 on the Top 10 list I'm ready to smack her!:rotfl:

Vickie, I know your anxious but the sooner the surgery the better you will feel:hug:

Lauren Bobby's burgers were good! I had an L.A. Burger, avocado, tomato, watercress & cheese...Greg had a Texas burger, not sure what was in it all I know is I wasn't offered any:sad2:we shared sweet potato fries & an order of onion rings.....upscale fast food it was it really is but fun.

Kat, poor horse.....I have the pre-show on now.

Marilyn enjoy your Sis.....

I watched most of Wife Swap last night.....so we are talking about the Haunted House guy? Wow he's scary :scared1:
Bethany, how's the packing going?

No, no! :rotfl: My co-worker professor was the gray haired older dad. The dad that lives in Florida and both of his kids swim. He cried a couple of times during the show. His wife is the older blond that had to go to Iowa.

afternoon all. Not much going on here today. It's rained all day. Very gloomy here. Rain always makes me very tired. I just can't get going. Right now I'm going stir crazy. We had all these plans for today, but they've all been cancelled due to weather. We've just been inside watching tv all day and I'm about to lose my mind. Not sure WFD--our fridge is about bare--we had trouble finding stuff for lunch. Guess I should start thinking about it. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend

DH has a wee " thing " for Stacy !!

Phew glad you don't work with Mr. Scary!!!! I actually felt really bad for the "Tie Man"......he seemed broken & so sad to me.

Vickie...the boys all have a thing for that Stacey!!! I She has extra "magic" I guess.....

You can scrapbook digitally (do the layouts on the screen with the digital photos, then print the entire page), or you can print the photos that you want to use, then scrapbook those the traditional way. You can burn a CD of images or put the images on a memory card/USB port thing and take that to a photo place to print them.

I LOVE the Mickey bars, they taste sort of like Dove bars...really rich. :lmao: at your DD and ice cream. We got ice cream at work on Thursday (my class won the attendance award for the grade for March...they just don't stay home! :lmao:) and I had one girl with ice cream all over her face and hands...they were eating out of a bowl with a spoon. :confused3 Then to top it off, it was the end of the day so the bathrooms were locked. (Don't ask why they lock the bathrooms at the end of the day...I have no idea.)

Thats a great thing to hear. This is the start of some thing fab for youse...now get packing !!

I'm packing...I'm trying to find something that fits in this odd-sized space that's left in this box. So I'm surfing the DIS. Think I'll find it here? :rotfl2:

FIVE Mickey Bars? Okay I love them but GEEZ! They are SO BAD for you...I even took a picture of the "Nutrition Facts" on the back. I have been going in August, and the heat drains my appetite so I tend not to eat a whole lot (but I drink a TON of water!) on those trips, but yet I kept gaining 10 pounds a trip. :confused3 I think living off Mickey Bars will do that to you!

Glad the date is after the games so you won't miss any! It's coming up soon, which means it will be over soon! :woohoo: I'm sure you'll remind us closer to the date so that we can pray for you?

My nephew only wants "Stacey" on the t.v. the entire time we are in the hotel room. She is a cute girl but by the time she gets to #5 on the Top 10 list I'm ready to smack her!:rotfl:

Bethany, how's the packing going?

I LOVE the Stacey show. It's a trip. I tend to leave it on low volume all night long so I can sleep - I have a hard time sleeping if it's quiet. (You can thank The Bronx for that one...) And it's the Top 7 things to do at WDW. Funny how the 4 parks + the 2 water parks + DTD = SEVEN THINGS. :lmao:

It's going...slowly...but going...
You'd think I'd be far more motivated than I am. I just find the packing bit (and unpacking) tedious.
