We woke up to the sound of the alarm at around 4:30am. We were checked out of the hotel in Tallahassee and on the road by 5:30am. As I mentioned before, our drive on I-10 to I-75 was COLD! Once we started heading south it got warmer. It was an interestingly dreary morning but we were still so excited! Look how low the clouds were....
About 4 hours later we arrive at our offsite hotel. We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott. It is not far from a Disney World entrance at all. If you know where the hotels by DTD are.....you take that road straight out of Disney property and the hotel is way in the back past all the other "good neighbor" hotels. It was a nice hotel. Very clean and newly renovated. It was also completely FULL. There is a free hot breakfast in the morning and we definitely saw how busy it is there during that time.
Anyway, we got checked in and lugged all our bags to the room. We then had some time to kill before DH's Driving Experience so we decided to hit a discount store we saw on our way in. Here is a pic of the sign in front of our parking spot. "Toad"
I love it.
We then decided to head into Disney property for lunch because....like I told DH...."If we pass by that welcome to disney sign one more time without turning in, I am going to SCREAM!!" We decided to find lunch at DTD.
Not the greatest sign picture but it's right off of a main road rather than coming in from the highway.
We walked around a bit and decided on Earl of Sandwich. I forgot to take pictures of the sign and inside. Seriously, I get so excited that I'm there in the beginning that I forget I have a camera strapped to me.
I got the Caribbean Jerk Chicken sandwich. It was SOOOO GOOOD!!! I have been thinking about this sandwich since that day. I really should have gone back and got another one before we left Orlando. Here is the description and a picture: grilled chicken, roasted red and hot banana peppers with a spicy jerk sauce
DH got the "All American" sandwich. He said it was "alright". He ordered it without Ranch dressing. When he got it, it also had cranberries on it. He didn't realize it came with cranberries. Once he took that off he said it was good. Here is the official sandwich description and a pic....roast turkey, buttermilk ranch, cranberries, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato.
DS got the grilled cheese sandwich. It was not good. We all 3 agreed. Luckily he had just eaten so he wasn't really hungry anyway.
During our lunch we aquired a visitor. He was not scared AT ALL. He walked right up to my ankle and looked at me. I thought he was going to climb my leg and take my sandwich. I don't usually feed the animals at WDW but in this case, there was nobody around and he was definitely on the hunt for a tasty morsel. I pulled a piece of bread from my sandwich and threw it about 3 tables down. Off he went.
Now, hurry up and eat everyone before he comes back!!
What?? He's back already?? Ok seriously dude, this is the last piece you are going to get from me....
He seemed satisfied after that. He then headed over to the fountain where people were taking a picture to grab a quick drink.
It was their turn to take pictures of him.
We were now done with lunch and decided to let DS build the light sabre that I've been promising him since last year. So off we went.....
Now I've read time and time again about how confusing it is to do the build your own light sabre. We tried to keep an open mind but thought we'd have it done pretty quick. WRONG!! There were many people crowded around it throwing pieces here and there making it even more difficult. The lady who helps put understanding to this madness was with several customers at the cash register. We finally gave up and promised DS we'd come back later after DH's drive to figure this out. He understood and off we went....
Up next.......DH drives a RACE CAR!!!
