Princess Mya's MAW Trip Report: First Day and Going Away Party Posted 3/6/09

Well it's a great idea and I will at least ask. They can only say NO, correct?

I thought I'd read a MAW TR in which a family upgraded their park passes for an additional 3 days, but, I may be mis-remembering.

Regardless, I agree with your idea--it can't hurt to ask.

They won't allow you to "upgrade" the MAW tickets. They are comp and only for the three days.

We got around that by buying a separate ticket to the MNSSHP...and used that as one of our "days"...

But they won't let you upgrade.

I would budget to purchase one for each of you guys, if you go an extra day.

Hey all still waiting to hear about flight info. I want to know when we are going, like the time and such.

Did find out that a friend will loan us their double stroller for the trip that they just used last month at Disney. They also are loaning us an Ergo Carrier, that they swear by.

Aidan on the other hand is fighting a nasty cold still, but has some new steroid that makes things work better up top (lungs), but very loose down bottom. With his short gut that makes for a very messy experience!

His O2's have come up during the day however, so with a little mess I think we will get through this.

I have an interview on Monday for a new position at my place of employement. Not much but it would be about and extra $300 plus a month. We could really use it, or that dream job with Cochlear I so desire.

Oh I almost forgot. It's official we are part of "The Big Give" they locked me out of the site. Now we anxiousely await package arrivals.

I am so glad he is getting better! Sorry for all of the mess, though! Not fun. :sad2:

I hope your job interview goes well!!!! :thumbsup2

So I got an update from MAW, well sort of....

Tickets are purchased, but...

"Your plane tickets have been purchased and you will be leaving on Feb. 21st in the morning and returning Feb. 28th in the afternoon. We will provide you with your exact flight information as we get closer."

Don't they know some people plan WAY to much?:confused3 I really had hoped that 28th would have been evening or really darn late.:rotfl2:

I really hope we are on non-stop out of Dallas, thus flying American. I really don't want to waste time in some silly airport when we could be hanging out with friends at GKTW. I also don't think the wait would be good switching planes with small children.

If we need to bring O's for Aidan, do I need to inform the airline first?

On a really positive note, Aidan is physically doing much better, the snot is coming out and he did not need assisted oxygen last night. I think we made it through that trial just fine.

On the financial front, things are awfully tight on my hourly wage, but we got an unexpected gift from above. Seems some insurance policy my parents had on me as a child was sold off for a fair amount per share. We ended up with a check that will pay off our credit cards and some of our medical bills. We really weren't sure we were going to make it through the month, so this was an amazing answer to prayer.

I wish I had video-taped Naomi when I handed her the check. You would have thought I handed her a snarling rat, how quickly she threw it across the table. It was classic.

40 day's and counting, now we really can start planning!:scared:

So did a little more planning today. It seems that Sea World no longer has the Backstage at Believe dining experience anymore, which Maroo recommended to us. They have a one hour Dine with Shamu experience, but it's just sitting poolside for an hour and at the cost of 112, i'm not sure if it's worth it.

Anyone done this dining experience?

What is O's??

I am just getting involved in your story now what a wonder full story. I am glad everybody is doing better.I wish you a wonderful trip.I am sure you will all have fun. Oh as a dvd member of boardwalk you will love it I am sure

Oxygen, sorry for using our own terms. ;)
I thought it was but I wasnt sure :) We call it O2

Anyways, I digress.
We are traveling with O2.
Airlines do not allow you to take your own O2 on the plane. You have to hire a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (one that is approved by the airline)
Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) work in such a way that they only release O2 on inhale, they dont release O2 on exhale. This is to conserve the battery.

Aiden is only quite young isnt he? Does he use a mask or a nasal cannula? I do not know what POC's are available for masks.

As far as documentation as concerned. You have to have a letter from your Doctor to show the airline approving the use of the POC, you also have to have an acknowledgment form signed by yourself stating that you agree to the rules and regulations set out by the airline.

Here are some links
Oxygen to go

Airline travel with Oxygen

Air travel with Oxygen press release

This is the kind of documentation our airline is going to require of us, just to give an idea
Air Tran Airways Special Needs

If you do feel that you have to travel with O2 you are going to have to contact MAW about it immediately as they will have to arrange it all.

I hope this helps.

That is the other name we use. I believe MAW knows but I will confirm with them. He hadn't needed them in so long it was quite a surprise. It was only to get him up from 89-90 to a more healthy range so that he would heal quicker while he slept.

If he only needs it whilst sleeping then there will be no problem. MAW will just arrange for O2 down at GKTW.
The flight O2 is the problem so if you dont absolutely need it for the fight you would be much better off not arranging for it.

We got Ticket Info.

Leave Dallas 10 am arrive around 1:30

Leave Orlando 5:30 the following Saturday!

I'm hoping we might get something in on both days. Was hoping for an earlier flight the first day, but guess we don't have to get up at crazy hours now.

Arriving at MCO at 1:30, figure it will take you about an hour out to GKTW by the time you get the car. You'll have your meeting and get your passes - it will be a really good time to get in some of the GKTW activities - I don't know that I would expend a park ticket on the partial day - and learn your way around. I forget what the Saturday night activity is . . . Maroo? do you remember?
