February Magical Family Adventures!!~ LAST DAY!! (6/5)

The only "bad" thing about going in February is that's when they do a lot of refurbishments. The list for this year started out as only 1....Hall of Presidents and as of today here is the new list for when we are there:

Hall of Presidents
Ellen's Universe of Energy
Backlot Tour


Also, they have moved the refurbishment of Philharmagic from January to Feb 1-6. We are arriving on the 7th. This is cutting it close!! I hope they don't move it again and I hope it doesn't take longer than anticipated. I was looking forward to seeing a refurbished show.

I am a major movie lover. More than that, I am a major movie maker lover!! I love everything about filmmaking and I love checking out props and things from movie sets. I really love this park for those reasons.

I love the Great Movie Ride even if I'm the only one, and I love the Backlot Tour even though they've chopped it down to nothing and tore down the Golden Girls house. However, I think it is going to be down for either refurbishment while we are there or closed permanently. That's the rumors I've read as of late.

So, I love this park but I also really hate this park because of the way it is layed out. I think I may finally have it memorized but it's still not easy to get around when trying to make it from one show to the next. That's the other thing I hate about this park. The way they have the shows scheduled, it is impossible to see everything you want to see and ride everything you want to ride. Especially for those of us who leave to let the kiddo take a nap.

With all that being said, I will try my best to do the things we usually like to do here but there are also several things we'd like to try that we've never done. It's going to be a squeezy situation. I am sure DS will beg to go see the stunt show AGAIN. This is a good show but once again they have it only scheduled twice a day and wouldn't you know that both of those times are usually scheduled at the very same time other show's we'd like to see are scheduled??? It makes it impossible. Last trip we told DS this show was down so we can't use that excuse again. Hmmmm, what to do?

Anyhoo, here are the new and "new to us" things we plan on doing here:

Toy Story Mania
Indiana Jones Show
Fantasmic
Star Tours (not new or new to us but we haven't been able to ride it for the past 3 trips!!)

Fantasmic is only playing once while we are there and of course it is on a night when we are at another park. I had to move our dinner ressies for that night to lunch instead and we will just grab counter service on our way to Fantasmic that night.

I am a huge movie buff, also, so I love DHS -- I even enjoy just sitting on a bench listening to the music from movies. We always seem to end up spending two full days at DHS -- probably due to its goofy layout.

I loved Fantasmic when I saw it in Feb. Of course I have to try TSM, Indiana Jones was very good too!I agree the timimg is awful, in May I will see LMA as I couldn't fit that in and Indiana Jones !! When we all go in Sept I think we will see everything but will take 2 days at DHS as the gang loves that park!!

I think I finally have most of the streets down now. Hopefully that won't happen to me anymore! I've been studying that darn map, plus remembering all the times I got lost. I think I've got it.....we shall see!

It's definitely a park that you need a plan in! I wonder if we could get a sample show schedule from someone who visits right before us. That would help a lot.

Oh I am so excited !! We did see LMA in 2007 and as this will be DSILs first ever trip and he is a Nascar, Dirtbike Nut we know that is on the Agenda !!

Well, this morning I got to see something that I have not seen in person since 1986. SNOW IN LOUISIANA!!!! My DS was so excited because he's never seen snow. My mother called at 5am knowing that we usually wake up at 6am for school. She didn't want us to miss it. If we do have a few snowflakes around here.....VERY RARE....they melt before they touch the ground. This morning there was still a very tiny amount....ok, it's actually A LOT for us....still on the ground.

So, at 5am I woke my DS and we went outside in our PJ's and Croc's with Socks so that he could catch his very first snowflake on his tongue and make his very first snowball to throw. I got a bit teary-eyed (as usual). I didn't even think to take pictures during this part. I did take a few on the way to school. Most of it had melted by this time. (2 hours later)

I know those from up north are laughing so hard right now. But this is seriously rare for us. Here are a few pics from the drive to school.....

Here in La we have to watch to not put too much air in our tires due to the heat and expansion. As you can see, due to the cold my tire pressure was LOW this morning. My little light actually came on!

We saw a snowman on the way to school!! Ok, so our snowmen aren't pretty white with no dirt and leaves mixed in. What can we say...we have to scrounge around to get enough "snow" to make one to begin with. This would be an extremely LARGE snowman for where I live.

Awww, I'm sure he will get some soon enough...right? I can't imagine what it would be like to HAVE snow at Christmas time. I would love to see a white Christmas at least once in my life.

Oh yes, I don't think I could live in it. I'm not too good with cold to begin with. It'd be nice to see it once and then go home where it's warm.

Well I can tell you....It is WET and cold!! I don't mind dry-cold but wet-cold is almost miserable. Luckily it's starting to warm up now and everything is drying out. It was in the 20's this morning and now we are up in the 50's.
