SOOZE -A vacation with a toddler is NOT a vacation! FINISHED!!

I really meant to get the last day started this weekend.. but had two Halloween events on Saturday, and DH has been vomitting all day today.. so no break for me!!

I'll try to sneak in an evening this week to get it going! I can't believe it's taking me so long... I'm lame!:sad2:

That's ok... we'll keep waiting popcorn:: Hope DH feels better!

Thanks for the installments, loving it! So. . . . . . .guess you've seen enough Nemo to last you a lifetime- glad Shae had fun and enjoyed it though. That is funny you enjoyed listening to the Scotish people talk, that is why I love the World Showcase, I love striking up conversations with the Cast members from all around the world. It is great! Can't wait for more.
Lesley

I would spend a lot more time talking to CMs if my DH wasn't so embarassed of me!! I agree, though.. I love to learn all about different people!

I know you do :goodvibes

:rotfl2: I have to say Michelles replies to your TR were awesome :thumbsup2

Weren't they, though!? She's incredible!

Okay.. I left you with a tease... did I get a good night's sleep or not?

Well, ladies and gents... I DID!! The little angel crashed and burned! She was sound asleep all night! I even got to get up and take a shower while she still slept. And you know what's even better than THAT?! It's the day after Labor Day y'all! Everyone went HOME!! This is where you should hear the Hallelujah chorus.

Shae and I chilled a bit and had a nice slow morning while the boys got ready to get to Epcot for the EMH.
Disney151.jpg

We hit the bus stop around 8:30 and made it to MK by around 9:15. I decided to just use the umbrella stroller, since we were going to MK and would probably end up parking the big one most of the time anyway.

We had just missed the rope drop, but that's fine because we didn't have to wait in any major lines. I decided to take her on a train ride for our first adventure. The train station was nearly empty... we walked back towards the rear of the train because I knew the front would be loud with the whistle and all. As we were waiting to depart, I heard the conductor ask some boys behind us if they wanted to say "All Aboaaaaard". They DECLINED!!! Seriously! WHAT!? I was wishing Shae was older so I could yell, "WE'LL DO IT!!" But I just sat there confused! Here's a pic from 2005 when Ty got to say it:
TyAllAboard.jpg

Highlight of the day for us. I guess I'm spoiled with a kid that's not embarassed to do that stuff... yet!
Here are some shots from the train ride. We had so much fun!

A better self portrait attempt:
Disney153.jpg

I was going to get off of the train at ToonTown. We didn't get back there the other day, and I knew she would love to see where Mickey and Minnie live. Then the conductor announced that ToonTown doesn't open until ten. BUMMER.. it's only 9:30. Oh well, let's get off and mill around and see what's there.

It was empty! However, there was a cute little playground PERFECT for toddlers and it was available... AND it was covered from the sun!! I figured we could hang out and play until ToonTown opened and get in there first. That was the best decision I made that week. We found a little girl for Shae to follow around and they played great together. Then, at aroun 9:40, a CM came out and said that Mickey was coming out of his house. So.. we walked over to the rope.. Just the two families! And out comes MICKEY!! It was so cool to see him come out of his house first thing in the morning. Shae got to get right up close to him. She was in awe again!

Disney155.jpg

Disney156.jpg

Disney161.jpg

Then, who do we see coming out?
DONALD!
Disney160.jpg

Disney162.jpg

Disney163.jpg

Disney164.jpg

By this time, another load of families had gotten off of the train. We saw the CM ask a boy if he wanted to be the first into Mickey's house! I was so jealous, but understood.. he was old enough to really get it. Shae... not so much! They took him around the rope to meet the gang. By this time, Goofy had joined in the fun!
You can see the boy.. he had red hair too!
Disney158.jpg

Disney157.jpg

Mickey grabbed his hand and escorted him into the famouse House of Mouse. What a COOL moment for that kid and his family! Not a few minutes later, they dropped the rope. Here's Shae wanting to go IN!!
Disney154.jpg

As you can see, we were right by Mickey's front door. So as soon as they dropped the rope, we walked right in! We followed Mickey as he showed his special guest around. YES! We were in Mickey's house WITH MICKEY!! I was in heaven!!

Disney165.jpg

Disney166.jpg

We followed him out of his house and through his very well-kept garden.

Disney167.jpg

Disney169.jpg

Then, we followed him right into his tent. They took the family of honor in first.. but Shae and I were right at the head of the line!! We got to go right in. OF COURSE my camera batteries were dying...:headache: I had the PhotoPass people take some pictures, but they didn't turn out well enough for me to buy them! I didn't really need any anyway, because this morning will be in my memories for a LONG time!!

As soon as we came out of the tent.. who did we spy next?! Shae's absolute favorite... MINNIE!!! She came skipping out of her house and was just skipping.. skipping.. skipping all around the area by her house. Her poor CM was having a heck of a time keeping up with her. I was cracking up!
Disney172.jpg

Disney171.jpg

I think Minnie was looking for someone to take into her house with her, but again.. Shae was a bit too small. Minnie found someone a bit older and grabbed her by the hand for a personal tour. Once again, we found ourselves in Minnies house WITH MINNIE!! The lovely Mouse paused in her sewing room to talk with the little girl. Shae took the opportunity to get right up there with her. It was precious!

Disney174.jpg

And one last dramatic pose for the camera:
Disney173.jpg

Shae enjoying the kitchen. She LOVED the cake in the oven!
Disney175.jpg

Man... I was on such a high! I couldn't believe how empty the place was! So here's a MAJOR TODDLER TIP!! Get to MK when the park opens or shortly thereafter. Hop on the train and take it to the back of the park. Play on the the playground and in Donald's boat (which was also open) until Mickey comes out around 9:45 to open Town Town. You'll be the first ones in!

We had plenty of time to ride several rides too! We did the Teacups, Winnie the Pooh ( three times!), Peter Pan's Flight, It's a Small World. The wait times were non-existent!! It was a GREAT morning. Sorry no more pics.. but the camera died.

I was so excited to get home and tell the boys about our morning. We hopped a bus back home to meet them for lunch. I think Matt was a bit jealous. He and Ty had agreat time, don't get me wrong... but they did all of the stuff they always do! And I had some fabulous new experiences.. and got to see Shaelyn's reaction to it all!!

What a great morning! But it didn't stop there. Next episode: Daddy takes nap duty, while Ty and I tackle MGM again! LMA and Stars and Cars!!

OMG - those pics are awesome! Love the one of you and Shae! It turned out great. I will definitely take your toddler advice! :grouphug:

Hi! I just finished reading Episode 2, and I had to write. I got tears in my eyes when I saw DD with the blankie on the plane (darn preggo hormones). Also, I feel we just bonded, as my DD had the VERY SAME SANDALS this summer! "How cool is that?" :)

Okay, on to important questions. DD will be 19 months at the time of our trip, and is very loyal to her crib. How did your DD do with the pack and play? Did she freak out? And where does she sleep at home? This is the most agonizing part of our planning for us! We are getting bed rails for the other queen in our room (have a 2br at OKW with my parents) but she seems to think that beds mean climby time. That reminds me, maybe we should try her with the pack and play today for nap, esp. since I won't be here. *evil grin*

On with the TR!!!!

Okay I just finished what you have done, and I love your trip report! I love the toddler mom insight and you write very well. I hope I actually am able to do a tr this time!
Once I've finished this one, I will go back and read your adult's only trip, and will be waiting impatiently for your upcoming one! :)

Wow, what an awesome report about toontown.:dance3: That is a great tip about taking the train and waiting for toontown rope drop. How cool is that to be in Mickey and Minnie's houses for a PERSONAL tour? The pictures that you were able to take are just great. Oh, and congrats on the great night of sleep, I'm sure that helped Shae's mood.:cool1:

I'm glad I could share some toddler tid bits. I'm trying to create a summary for the end of my TR for any toddler-travelers out there!

Glad to help you relieve some of those preggo hormones!! I LOVED those sandals! Shaelyn wore them almost every day this summer.

About the pack 'n' play.. Shae did great with it.. but... she sleeps in one every day at the sitter's house, so it wasn't anything new with her. I would recommend putting your little one in a pack 'n' play once in a while. She will already be a bit freaked out about being somewhere new. Can't wait to read your trip report!

I hope you are able to visit my adult's only trip, too! In fact, as soon as I finish this TR (which is taking me entirely too long!), I will be starting my pre-trippie for our NEXT adult's only trip, that's coming up in January!:cool1:

Yes.. this day was completely pleasant.. and I'm sure a lot of it was due to the fact that we all slept amazingly well! And this morning was the highlight of my trip!!

What a great morning!!!:cool1: :cool1:

Yes! It sure was!

Thanks... I think she's pretty darn adorable myself!

Thank you for the great tip! I started a notebook last month and have been writing down all the great tips I get from TR's. I just added this one and put a BIG star next to it. Thanks again!

wow that was great, glad to hear you got it all to yourselfes pretty much.

I bet the look on her face was priceless.

What a GREAT day. I'm definately putting this on my priority list. DD(5) went in '05 and this past June, but we never made it to Toon Town. She would absolutely LOVE being the first into Toon Town.

On with the TR!!!!

My DS (he will 21 mo during our trip) is a crib fanatic too. I was worried about a pack and play as well. You'll be surprised where they sleep when they are tired. Also, I noticed you will be at the Poly for a few nights. When we stayed there in June, we were told that we'd have a pack and play. Well, to our surprise, we had a small wooden crib. It was great. DS had no problems at all. I was told we'd get a pack and play again for our upcoming trip, but I'm hoping.

Can't wait for the next installment.....

I sure hope it works as well for you as it did for me! I couldn't have planned anything that special!

It was... too bad my camera only caught the back side of her head most of the time!!

I wonder if you can REQUEST a wooden crib? That sounds like a decent solution.. of course, little ones can sense when they're somewhere else no matter what they're sleeping in! But if you get them all tired out.. they WILL sleep!!... eventually...:upsidedow

I am hoping to finish this report up very soon, y'all! I have a new pre-trippie to get going. In case you haven't noticed, my ticker has changed and we are no longer going on our tenth anniversary cruise:sad2: . It's funny when you hit 35 and you have kids and a home and careers and you finally realize that you need to budget your money, or else it flies out of your bank account faster than you can keep track of it!! So... new budget=no cruise for now! But we are sneaking in a small trip to POR at the end of Jan.. just the two of us.

I will get that pre trippie started as soon as this one finishes... if you'd like the full story of how our tenth anniversary trip started, changed, cancelled and was reborn... come on over!

More soon!!

Wow.. I just need to get this thing finished! I am SO sorry it has taken me this long for a four day trip! If I ever take one of those 9-10 day trips I've heard about, I could be in SERIOUS trouble!!

Well, when I left off, Shae and I had just finished up a magical morning at the Magic Kingdom. We had met up back at the villa for lunch with the boys. We tried to finish up the rest of the mac n cheese, sandwich stuff, and chips, since we were leaving the next day...:guilty: After lunch, Shaelyn crashed. We had such a full morning, she was asking for nap time!

Tyson and I took advantage of Matt's willingness to hang out at the villa. The two of us took a nice stroll to the dock at the Boardwalk and hitched a ride to the Studios. We had a cute old couple running the boat. The male was the driver, the female ran the ropes and opened/closed the doors. Well, I guess she had a desire to learn how to drive the thing, because we watched as the man let her take the wheel!! She wasn't too bad, but it took a couple of tries to park it at MGM. What was the best part, was how supportive all of the boat riders were of her! When she finally docked it correctly, everyone cheered! I just love Disney! The couple reminded me again of how Matt and I are going to retire to WDW and work there as cute little old people. Every time we go, we find new jobs that we would want to do. I think we'd make a great team as a boat couple!

Ty and I checked out the times for the Stars and Cars parade. I had heard (on DIS, of course) that this parade was going to be axed, so I wanted to make sure I saw it!! We had plenty of time to catch a few shows or rides. We jumped on the Great Movie Ride first. Tyson and I were in "The Wizard of Oz" together at a community theatre near us, so we obviously favored that part of the ride!!
06Summer137.jpg

Our guide wasn't the greatest... and the criminal that hijacked our car wasn't the best either... must be the "after Labor Day" Cast Members...:rolleyes1

Tyson was dying to buy an "ACTION!!" clap board. We asked a CM where we could find one, and since Ty had quite a bit of his money left.. he could afford one easily. Actually, these are one of the more affordable souvies that you can get at WDW.. and it's fun to play with, too!

Next stop was the Lights Motor Action Show. I LOVE this show!! I'm totally not a car buff, either... don't even know how to change a flat tire... but this show is a MUST SEE!! And, for those of you who shared my Adults-Only TR.. you might remember this guy...
Disney224.jpg

OH YEAH!! Logan was there again! When he came out, I said to Ty, "I bet that guy's name is Logan..." and when he was introduced as Logan... Ty was amazed with my superior knowledge!! He just said.. "How did you KNOW that?" Moms know all, honey... Moms know all...

Here he is showing off his new souvie..
Disney222.jpg

And a random shot of the set...
Disney223.jpg

Oh wait.. that's not random.. it has LOGAN in it... ((I'm drooling again, darnit))

We witnessed another fender bender in the openeing scene. That was the second time in a row for me! The last time, the car was fine to continue, but this time, they had to get a new hero car! Ty thought the crash was pretty cool.

We headed over to get a spot for the parade. Ty didn't even ask to go back to the playground... DARN!! We found a spot easily.. but soon figured out why... it was right in the sun. And, MAN that WDW pavement gets SCORCHING hot! My skin was frying and I just didn't have enough shorts on to cover my fat back thighs!! I dealt with it. Time flew by because of the INCREDIBLE entertainment that Disney once again provides. I don't know where they find these street performers, but they are top notch!
Disney180.jpg

Disney178.jpg

This lady was my favorite. I wanted to be her...
Disney179.jpg

Someone went to take her picture and she stopped, turned to them, and yelled, "GET THE HAT!!!!" in this GREAT character voice.
Disney181.jpg

A few more fun ones..
Disney176.jpg

And here's Ty after one of them told him he should play a tough guy in the movies with muscles like that!
Disney177.jpg

Up next... LOTS of pictures of the parade!

Okay, strap in.. I was going camera crazy! Here are lots of picture from the parade:

After the parade, we decided to hit Star Tours, after being inspired by the presence of Darth Vader and R2D2. Then we had to meet up with the rest of the family and some friends for dinner... do you think we can get into the Prime Time? I mean.. it IS the day after Labor Day....:confused3
