Day 3 part 1 - Typhoon Lagoon
August 13th, 2011
If you are following the trip report in order using the chapter links at the beginning, skip the next paragraph.
For those of you who have been with me since the beginning, I'm finally writing part 1 of our third day in Disney. Yay, Photopass!!
Today was our first day with no alarm. So how late did we sleep in? Well... 8am. I guess our bodies were still too used to the work and Disney getting up early schedules.
Despite waking up early we took it real slow getting ready. I was slower than Ron, so he went and got breakfast for both of us to eat in the room. So nice! He got me some Mickey Waffles and got himself a Key West Omelet. For some reason I only took picture of mine?
We ended up leaving the resort around 11am and took a bus to Typhoon Lagoon. Again no wait for the bus, yay!
We spotted the first photopass person even before entering the park.
We got a locker and put our things in. I saw Lilo was out with only 1 person in line so I insisted we stop by to see her.
My favorite part of TL is the surf pool, so that's where we headed first. We got a couple of photopass pictures with the wave in the background.
Then jumped in the water and had some fun in the giant waves.
We didn't stay too long. We knew most slides would have long waits at this time so we went in the lazy river. This is the life!
Another photopass picture (see why I waited to post this?)
As we exited we saw that the Storm Slides had a short wait so we did one of them. Fun, but very tame. Right next to it is Humunga Kawabunga, or as I prefer to call it, The Wedgie Slide! It goes really fast and is in the dark. Fun, but better check your swimsuit before stepping out... LOL
We went back to the surf pool, but all they had were tiny bobbing waves, and then no waves at all. Boring! I wanted to go on one of the tube slides so we chose Keehaul Fall. It was fun, but not really worth the 20 minutes wait.
The other two slides had an even longer wait, so we skipped them and decided to have lunch. We weren't very hungry so all we had was some fries. There was nowhere to sit, so we found a little crate in the shade and ate quickly.
As we brought our things back to the locker I saw Stitch. I love him, so this was a no-brainer.
We checked out the underwater view at the Shark Reef.
We went back to the lazy river. It was PACKED! Like rush hour, with bumper to bumper tubes. NOT relaxing. So we got another photopass picture and exited without making the full round.
Now, when even the lazy river is jammed, you know the water park is full of people so we thought it was time to leave. We walked in front of Crush N Gusher without riding it, knowing we'd be back later in the week.
As we were exiting the park we saw some dark storm clouds rolling in. Guess we left at the right time!
We have a short wait for the bus and are soon back at POP. By this time the storm has gotten so close that they have even closed the pools at the resort. That did not happen often during our trip! There's even a warning on TV about how strong the storm is. But since you've already read my evening update you know that it didn't actually affect us much. Phew!
Before heading to our room for our afternoon rest we took a couple of pictures to show how close to the food court our room was. This was taken standing at the end of the hallway to our room. Looking this way you can see the 60s stairs, Petals pool Bar, and the Lobby/food court building.
We were in building 3.
And now looking the other way, our room is about halfway down, before the intersection.
So that's it for our afternoon. We had a nice evening ahead of us!
