After toying with idea for quite awhile and doing the research, I have decided to bite the bullet and buy myself one. Actually it all the fault of another poster on the budget board :rotfl: because she posted a Kohl's code for 30% off. How could I pass that up? :woohoo:

Anyway, my question is, what other supplies might I need? Do I need anything else? I get the King Arthur Catalog and they have all sorts of cool stuff, but the question is DO I REALLY NEED ALL THAT COOL STUFF?

Help me save myself from going overboard. Thanks.

Can't tell from your post if you already bought it or not. I had a Zojirushi several years ago, but baked half raw, so the kitchen store I purchased it from here baked everyday and offered to try it themselves, sure enough, it started and finished baking, looked good, but was raw inside. They assured me it was a lemon and said I could get another one, pick another brand, or my money back. Got my money back and then did more research and got a Breadman Ultimate - love it! I'm sure they were right, but you know how it is when you have something go wrong, you're afraid to try again? :confused3 Anyhow, as far as needing anything else, I never have. Really don't know what else I could use for it - confused on that. Maybe you could tell me, and then I might need something else that I don't know about :lmao: My DH would love that :rotfl2: Anyway, enjoy your machine, homemade bread smells so good baking and you have so many options to try. There are lots of recipes online ;)

I have had 2 different Zojirushi bread makers and both are/were great.

I don't know what supplies you are talking about. If you have a bread machine, all you need are the ingredients to make bread.

We've had ours for 3 years now and love it. As for what you need, it depends on what you are going to do. We use ours to make the dough most often and so we have pans for different types of bread. We have a french loaf pan (which we use almost weekly), jelly roll pan, artisan bread pan, etc. We have collected these through the last 3 years from different sources like Williams Sonoma and even King Arthur.

I've had my Zo for about 15 months now and use it at least 2 times a week, and sometimes as often as 6 or 7 times a week, depending on what I'm making. Love it!!!

About the only "extra" stuff I can think of that you might want to buy would be the actual baking supplies - bread flour, nonfat dry milk, yeast, etc. When I got my machine, I did buy some stuff like vital wheat gluten and cracked wheat, thinking I'd make bread for my DH but in the end, I barely used it (and just threw away the vital wheat gluten, since it smelled bad).

I find I mostly make white bread, oatmeal bread and banana chocolate chip bread. Oh, and pizza dough and bread dough for rolls.

Oh wait! I thought of something - a bread slicer! I have a wood one that has plastic sides with slicing guides. And I bought a new longer bread knife so it worked with the slicing guide.

I didn't buy a bread holder - I just use the jumbo zipper bags.

I love my Zo! I'm on my second one (Kohls had an amazing Black Friday sale and I yielded), bought my daughter one with my Amazon points. I prefer to have the machine get it to "dough" cycle and then bake in the regular oven, but that's just my preference.

I would get some yeast "for bread machines" or the KAF red bag. Maybe pick up a couple of loaf pans, in case you do want to bake in your regular oven. Prepare yourself for a few failures, stuff happens. Oh, and join in the community forums at King Arthur Flour; they hold a wealth of knowledge, such as... to keep from having uneven loaves, make sure the paddles are pointing in the same direction before you start the machine. They also have incredible recipes to play with!

Have FUN!

Love my Zoji! I've been using them for about 15 years (I killed my 1st one) and I really can't say enough good things about them.

I prefer to proof and bake in my oven so I usually only use the dough cycle but I have used the regular cycle when I am pressed for time.

I don't think there is anything else you need except for ingredients and pans if you use the dough cycle. I buy my yeast at BJs and keep it in the freezer ~ which is another reason I love the Zoji ~ I can put everything in cold and it brings it up to temp before starting to mix.

Have fun!!

I use a jar of Breadman's yeast. It's between $5-7 at the grocery store and usually coupons in the paper. It's only 40 cents, but it's nice if you grocery store doubles or triples coupons.

Whole wheat flour
All purpose flour
Bread flour

Some other things that might come in useful.
dry milk
salt
olive oil
vegetable oil
eggs
honey

I find blogs mostly of breads people like to make. One of my favorites is the Macaroni Grill bread knock off. That's where I use olive oil, italian seasoning grinder, fresh rosemary, and salt.

There's a few recipes that call for an egg wash or butter/honey wash over the top.

One of the tips I learned online, alternate pouring oil then honey for a recipe. The oil coats the spoon and makes the honey slip right off.

I have a Zojirushi rice maker and use it just about every night for the past 5 years. Makes perfect rice and I don't have to tend to it!

I'll have to try the bread maker

I really want one but can't bring myself to buy one:scared1: where's the best deal? So far I have one on my wish list at amazon.

Hi

Just ordered it today from Kohl's, it is marked down from $280 to $252 and used a code (HEART30) and got another 30% off. Shipping was free and I earned $30 on Kohl's rewards, total price with tax was $192. So I am quite happy....can't wait to get it. That is the lowest price I have ever seen for it.

Go for it!
